Harry stared out the car window. It was an ugly day. The sky was overcast and gray, threatening rain. It almost seemed to fit with what needed to be done today. Harry looked over to the driver of the vehicle. Hermione had not said a word all day. Her eyes were red and her knuckles were white from gripping the wheel. Harry wanted to say something, anything to her. But what could be said in this situation.

The car turned into their destination. The field stretched out from where they stood. The green grass was overshadowed by the white stone markers covering it. Neither person said anything as they got out of the car and walked through the rows of white stone. Past the markers of those who lived. Past reminders of years spent together, and time spent apart.

They walked till they reached two new stone markers. On the markers were two names that never should have been.

Hermione sunk to the ground and let out a wail. Her head in her hand, sobbing uncontrollably. After all they had done, after all they had sacrificed, after all they had lost. This was too much. A Friday night date, a drunk driver, not even a month ago. To lose them in a place where they were never supposed to be. To lose them because of what she did to them.

They stayed there. Crying. Harry holding her in his arms. Hermione leaning into him, too emotionally wracked to support herself. They stayed there in front of the graves of her parents. Much like they had stayed at the graves of his parents not too long ago.

It was an ugly day. A day fitting for grief and sorrow. As the couple left the field of stone markers the first drops of rain began to fall from the heavens. Harry looked up into the sky and felt the water hit his face. He thought back over the years of time with the woman beside him. He thought of the support and love she gave to him. The time and energy she sacrificed for him. And now, it was his turn to be there for her. To stand beside her. To grieve with her. To be a pillar of strength and comfort. For as long as it took, he would always be there for Hermione.
