Chapter 3: Heroic spirit.
(Pov Shido)
It's been a day since he brought Eclipse back onto the Ratatoskr ship, and right now he was still in the medbay of Fraxinus, looking at the unconscious spirit. "She's not normal," Kotori said while standing behind him. "I... I sealed her, right?" He asked while looking at the spirit's astral dress that hadn't disappeared yet. "I don't know. This usually doesn't happen, we have no such records of spirits being able to keep their astral dress after sealing... There isn't one anyway." She said, now glancing at her brother, particularly his right hand.
Looking at kotori then at his hand. "Kotori do you know anything... about this." He asked while bringing his right arm showing a red tattoo glowing red on the back of his arm, looking at it both of them was thinking 'what could it possibly be?' kotori sighs rubbing her forehead clearly frustrated. "I don't know, whatever it was it's leaking a small spirit energy. It's unusual we're still trying to figure out what it was, but one thing for sure is that red marking on your hand was connected to her." Kotori then turned around and leave her brother presumably returning to the control room.
Shido then decided to go home for today since he still had some homework; walking out, he glanced back for a moment at the spirit. "Don't worry, I'll save you," he said in a whispered voice. It was a promise that he would save every spirit that came to this world, no matter the cost.
After dropping down from the ship he walked back home hoping there's no trouble anymore for today.
Reaching his home shido then opened the front door. "I'm home!" He said announcing his returned as he walked in his nose was hit with a delicious smell 'Smells so good... wait!?' he remembers that he was the one that usually cooked, so who? Widening his eyes he immediately run towards the kitchen and was greeted with an unusual sights.
"Shido!!!" Tohka loudly greeted while munching foods that was served on the table with terrifying speed, the same can be said for yoshino but at least she was eating at a slower pace. But what makes his eyes still widen in shocked was because of the new spirit Eclipse somehow was in his kitchen using his apron while cooking for them 'How?' realizing there's another person in here Eclipse turned to him while still carrying a lasagna.
"Hoh, back already master." Shido jaw almost dropped if either from the godly delicious smell or from how Eclipse dressed since now she was using a his tshirts with his apron. "I hope you won't mind me borrowing some of your clothes, it's getting irritated using my shroud everywhere. Make yourself comfortable Master~" Shido almost choked when she called him that, it was even worse that she called him so with a smirk an annoying smirk.
Shaking his head he then looked at her. "How did you-" But was cut off by her.
"Master, I suggest take seat if you wanted an explanation. It's not good for you to keep standing like that after a tiring day." She said as herself taking a seat.
Shido frowned before looking at Tohka and Yoshino's blissful expressions as they were eating Eclipse's cooking. Without him realizing it, he had already been seated and began scooping a freshly baked lasagna. He took a bite before exclaiming, "What the hell is this!!" He immediately shut his mouth, using both of his hands. "Oya? Looks like Shido can't keep his dirty mouth away from the cute little Yoshinon and Yoshino's pure maiden hearts~" Yoshinon teased him, earning a glare from him and a small scolding from Yoshino.
Turning back to his diner, he couldn't help but want to literally dig a hole and stay forever inside. "How did you cook this?" Shido asked, eyes fixed on the spirit with expecting gaze.
Eclipse only smirk as she say. "What's the matter? I only followed the cookbook recipes." Shido didn't know is she either lying or telling the truth but that can wait as he began devouring the rest of his lasagna, before sulking in realization 'If she can cooked this good, then would that mean she can easily entranced anyone with her cooking... Doesn't this mean tohka will not love me anymore?' It was partially true since tohka loves him for his cooking but with Eclipse cook taste like heaven dining he know his pride in cooking immediately shattered the moment he tasted her cooking.
As if sensing his distress, Eclipse spoke. "Master, don't wallow in self-pity; I am not interested in your affairs." Eclipse spoke as she tasted her own cooking, Tohka suddenly stood up and smacked the table, startling him.
"Shido! We need her in this house!" Tohka exclaimed from her seat before fake-coughing. "I wouldn't mind you having another girl in here, but just remember to always buy me some kinako bread okay?" Tohka exclaimed happily.
"I... I also won't really mind, shido." Yoshino said while hiding her face using yoshinon. "I wholeheartedly agree! Afterall it would be a blessing from the heaven by having 'Tan-chan' here!" Yoshinon also agreeing with the two but received a glare from the chef as she called her 'Tan-chan'.
Shido now looked relieved since both Tohka and Yoshino agreed. "Everyone."
"Haah, really a troublesome master I had. Grow a spine will ya?" Eclipse teased him earning a glare from him and laughter from Yoshinon while Tohka was too focused on her plate and Yoshino that didn't understand a thing.
Shido's pocket suddenly vibrated, so he quickly pulled out his earpiece and put it on his ears. "Shido! Eclipse disappeared from Fraxinus!" Kotori shouted in panic, as the rest of the crew could be heard in the background panicking as well, while Shido began to chuckle nervously. "Ehehehe."
"Why are you laughing? This isn't a funny matter!!" Shido can only sighs. "Kotori, she's here."
"..." Kotori stopped shouting and was now silence so were the rest of fraxinus. "Um, kotori?" She didn't answer as the ship connection suddenly cut off.
After some more silence Eclipse spoke. "Master, since everything was now in order. I believed you wanted some explanation on what's going on?" She asked as shido nodded slowly. "Ok, but before I started this I wanted you to take this seriously. And I mean it, I will not repeat everything that I said. If you didn't you will only be a dead weight on my part, agree." Shido nodded again now looking at her.
"Alright! That's a good start, now let's started with the basic." Shido suddenly raised his hand. "Wait! Before that can I asked something?" Eclipse frown a bit before looking at him. "What is it master?" Shido raising his right hand. "Do you know what is this?"
Shido could see Eclipse's mood becoming sour but complied and answered him. "That master was a command seal." Shido's eyes widened in confusion. "Command seal?" Shido asked. "Command seal is a very powerful seal placed upon a servant," Eclipse replied. Another question appeared in his head; 'Servant?'. Seeing his confused expression, Eclipse continued.
"Servants or Heroic spirit, are humans who have accomplished incredible feats in their lives, so much so that their entire existence has become a legend. Their souls are placed on the Throne of Heroes." Shido looks confused as Eclipse sighs. "Basically, it's like summoning a legendary hero to fight for you." She simplifies her meaning.
He thought for moment. "Like... like familiar?" Shido said a bit confused. "Exactly, like familiar. I am not an ordinary spirit that you usually encounter," Tohka who been listening asked. "Then if you are not a spirit... what are you?" Yoshinon nodded butting in as well. "Yeah! You said you're not a spirit, but you feel like us. Are you lying Tan-chan? Lying will do no good you know."
Eclipse only glared at yoshinon before looking at him again. "I... am a Heroic spirit."

(3rd Pov)
It was late afternoon somewhere near a small temple a woman with long purple hair tied into a ponytail, dressed with purple haori was looking at the small temple. "No. This is not him." She said as she keep walking, just as she was about to leave suddenly an energy like blast hit where she had stood. "I thought you will never make a move little girl." She said looking to the sky.
Looking up, she saw another girl with blue hair wearing a DEM Realizer. "This is the day you die, Rounin." The girl said as she lunged at her. The woman merely dodged her attack with minimal movement; the girl swung her arm blade and was parried by the woman's long nodachi. She then jumped back, placing her nodachi on her shoulder. "You move too hastily, and your attacks are frantic. I can see you trained, but you haven't sharpened your skills." The girl was surprised, but her expression quickly changed to one of anger.
"Don't you dare lecture me!" She angrily snarled at her, as the woman merely shook her head.
"There's no point in this fight; no matter how hard you try, it's obvious you lack experience." The woman calmly remarked, making the girl even more frustrated.
"I'll show you then; you can talk again once I kill you," she said as she once again lunged at her at high speed, aiming to stab her. However, the woman merely swiped her nodachi and parried back. Sparks began to fly as the two fighters stared each other in the eyes.
The girl lunged at her using Murakumo sword style, a sword style that was supposed to be a spirit-killing technique. Yet right now, the girl was having difficulty trying to parry the other woman's attacks. She swung her arm and managed to block, parry, or even deflect the attacks back at her; it was frustrating, as she looked at her enemy who was different from the spirits she had fought before.
The woman whole posture was calm and grace, every movement was like a dance of death combined with her long nodachi (presumably her angel) making it almost impossible for her to land a single hit. She had to admit this fight is much difficult than her first encounter with a spirit, she didn't fly which was supposed to be an opportunity for her to just bombarded the spirit yet she always survived.
Unlike what she was usually taught that spirits had minimal knowledge of the world, meaning they had less battle experience and often relied on their angels for escape or defense. However, this spirit was different; she was skilled, experienced, and dangerous. She couldn't hold much longer, multiple scenarios and strategies ran through her head as she parried her attack and dodged by dashing away.
"Who are you?" she asked clearly frustrated. Instead of answering her, the spirit took a stance and placed both hands on the hilt of the nodachi.
raising her blade to her face she muttered. "Hiken" Suddenly the girl seen herself was cut in the neck, arm, and leg. Her eyes widen in shock and fear at what it seems to be a foresight to her demise. Raising her both of her arm blade she tried to defend herself.
"Tsubame Gaeshi."
*splat!* She fall as her Realizer was cut into two and shattered her territory field. Pool of blood began to appear from where she had fallen, her breathing become frantic as multiple emotion appears on her face. Fear, anger, loss, defeat, and most of all... failure.
She failed to finished her task, she failed to make her superior proud, and most of all. "Oniichan-" Tears began to pour as she failed to search for her brother.
The woman looked at her in pity, she then walked to where the girl was standing Infront of her bloodied body. The girl look at her, her eyes immediately widen filled with terror and fear yet she doesn't falter.
"You are strong," she admitted. "You are brave, but you are also stupid, and in the end, your stupidity paid its price." The girl gritted her teeth, though she didn't like being lectured by a spirit; she couldn't help but wince as what the spirit said was true - that, ultimately, she had been the cause of her own demise.
She cried silently as her body slowly became numb; she knew what was happening – she knew she was about to die. Yet, what could she do? It was her own fault she had gotten into this mess; her conscience began to slip away.
The spirit looked at her frowning as she did so, sighing she knelt down to her. "I know what you've wanted. We had a similar goal." The woman said as the girl barely registered her words since she was beginning to lose blood. Sighing, she continued, "I'm gonna regret doing this, but it will compensate us in the near future." She said as she picked the girl up bridal-style and began running at high speed, jumping from rooftop to another in a blur.
However unbeknownst to them another girl with blonde hair was watching the whole fight in from far away, her emerald green shine bright under the moonlight. She had watch the battle from the beginning with little emotion. Sighing she disappear into notes of light.
Once again the afternoon had claimed it's peace.

(Pov Shido)
He was still trying to process what Eclipse had told him about 'rituals', 'holy wars', 'seven spirits', 'wishes', and finally, the 'Holy Grail'. Shido's head felt like it was about to explode from the sheer amount of information, but there was also an itching feeling in his chest at the mention of the Holy Grail.
Shido looked at his command seal. "So... when I kissed you, you weren't sealed?" He asked while Eclipse glared at him when he mentioned the kiss. "Yes, it was unusual. Heroic spirits are supposed to be summoned using a catalyst and a ritual, however we were already here. Seven of us were already here and instead of my master trying to summon me, I was supposed to find a master." She closed her eyes and sighed before looking at him (or rather, behind him). "I take it you listened to everything?" Shido was confused until he looked back and was greeted by his sister.
"Kotori!" He jumped a bit before relaxing again earning some giggle from tohka and yoshino/yoshinon.
"So that's why your astral dress didn't disappear; you weren't sealed." Kotori said as she took a seat near her brother.
"Well, I'm not exactly sealable mind you. I also didn't really understand why you try to seal me." Eclipse mutterd while narrowing her eyes at them.
"How did you escape from the Fraxinus?" Kotori asked, eyeing her with caution. "We didn't detect you or see you move from our ship; your spirit power also disappeared for a moment." Shido didn't know what to do since what his sister was doing was pretty much interrogating the spirit.
The spirit pause for a moment before smirking, suddenly her body glow and disappear in notes of light surprising everyone there. Shido immediately stood up looking everywhere in panic. "Eclipse?" He asked still looking around.
She suddenly announced, "I'm right here," as she materialized near the kitchen door, leaning against it and still wearing that annoying smirk.
"How?" Shidou was baffled, and so were everyone else there. "How did you do that? That was so cool! Do you think this cute little girl can do it too?" Tohka's eyes practically sparkled. "Can I do it too?" Kotori was equally confused, but she decided to fake a cough instead.
Kotori asked, "Do you mind explaining what you just did?" She eyed her more cautiously.
Eclipse shrugged. "It's called astral form; it allows servants like me to disappear from the mortal plane and enter an invisible state. This form also allows me to lessen my master's burden by absorbing less prana."
Kotori looked even more confused now. "Is there any other abilities you have?" she asked, wanting to know more about this Heroic Spirit.
"I do," Eclipse said before narrowing her eyes. "Which begs the question, why should I tell you?" Kotori's expression was confused. "Why should I tell you? True, you are my master sister, but other than him, I don't trust anyone in this house." Eclipse said, crossing her arms.
Shidō now began to sweat as the air became tense; Tohka looked ready to draw Sandalphon, while Yoshino ran to him. After some intense silence, Kotori spoke. "Then how about this? You tell me everything you can do, and when I say everything...everything!" Kotori said, her voice hardening as Eclipse's expression did likewise. "And in return, I will tell you everything you need to know."
Eclipse though for moment adopted a thinking pose, after some moments she sighed and looked at her. "Fine." She simply said making kotori smirked in victory. "You said everything I know and in return you told me everything I wanted to know?" Kotori nodded. "Very well. However, I want no tricks, no lies, and no faking anything." Eclipse stated her demands as kotori nodded.
After some more silence Eclipse sighs. "Archer."
"What?" asked Shido, confused.
"My name is Archer so stopped addressing me as Eclipse." Eclipse or Archer said before scratching her head in frustrations, sighing she looked at him again. "Well good night, master." With that she dematerialize, leaving only notes of light in her spot.
Shido sighed; he didn't know what was going to happen next, but he knew for sure things were going to get more and more difficult. "What is actually going on?"

(3rd Pov)
[France, CDG airport 09:57 PM]
A woman in her thirties was walking through Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris while holding a ticket in her left hand. As she walked through the crowd, she took a moment to catch her breath. Her name was Annie Leblanc, a former DEM wizard who had recently quit her job after the death of her daughter.
Sighing, she didn't want to drag those memories out and decided to open her phone. The news read, 'A mysterious gas leak has occurred near Washington D.C. Reports have speculated that it may be a terrorist attack!' She knew what actually had happened; the same thing had happened to her just days before.
Lifting her left hand, she uncovered the glove she wore on her left hand. Underneath, a red marking glowed brightly. She frowned and quickly covered it up before deciding to scroll through her phone once more.
'Master, I've detected multiple humanoid figures throughout the airport. Should I dispose of them?' The woman stopped looking tense. "Must be some Bandersnatches," she muttered. "They must have arrived early."
Outside the airport looked like nothing's happening but her five years in DEM tells her that a group of people was hiding up there probably using invisible realizer to cloak their presence. "Rider disposed them. If you saw any DEM Wizard I permit you to kill them." She coldly spoke while gripping her flight ticket a bit to hard.
'... Understood.' With that she slumped to her seat while closing her eyes as memories of daughter began to reemerge.
(flashback)
"Mommy looked!" A young girl with long black hair was running towards her while showing her a picture the girl draw.
"It's you!" She happily exclaimed, showing a picture of what seemed like a mini version of herself in a wizard outfit with rainbows and stars. "That's beautiful, Anna." She gently spoke before softly stroking her daughter's hair.
Anna smiled brightly as she put her drawing in the fridge. "When I grow up, I'm going to be just like Mommy! And then I'll help everyone in need!" She excitedly exclaimed before running back to her mother and giving her a hug. A man walked in, and he smiled at Anna. "Anna, where's Papa in this drawing?" He asked with a smile.
"Hmm, Ooh I know! I will draw papa as the dragon!" The man laughed. "Does that mean mommy will defeat me? The great Dragon!" He asked her daughter as both of them laughed.
"No! Papa and Mama will work together and defeat the evil witch!" she exclaimed as she began running toward the fridge to redraw her drawing.

It happened. The DEM was testing a new weapon, said to be strong enough to kill a spirit in one shot. This made everyone's hopes rise high. It was on that day that she decided to take her daughter there to see the weapon firsthand.
[Alarm!] The alarm blared signaling a malfunction in the weapon, the weapon that wasn't finished suddenly turned on of its own, she had left Anna with her father as she still had some work to handle. She immediately abandoned her task and put on her CR and went straight to the testing grounds.
Reaching there, her eyes widened as she saw the emergency blockade in the form of a giant metal door. She immediately dashed there and tried to open it. "Mommy!!" She heard her daughter's cries and immediately tried to force open the door. "Lieutenant. Annie, what are you doing?" Looking back, her superior, Ellen Mather, walked towards her with a group of wizards.
"Opened the door! My daughter was trapped in there!" She begged while still trying to pry opened the door. "No can't do." Her eyes widen as she looked at Ellen in betrayal. "If we opened that blockade the whole facility will blow up."
"Bullshit!" She keep trying to open the door with everything she had. "Please! I begged you open the door!!" She was begging as she went to Ellen knees begging to her to opened the door. "P-please! My daughter! My daughter!!!" The sound of the weapon began to overcharge was heard. "Please!!!" Ellen did nothing, only looking at the unfolding scene with no expression at all.
"Mommy!!!" She immediately got off Ellen's knees and tried again to open the door. "Anna! Anna!" She kept shouting her daughter's name.
"Mommy, I'm scared," her daughter cried. She was crying too. "Mommy! Mom-" A huge explosion occurred, causing her to stumble and fall, hitting her head and everything going dark.

(end of flashback)
"Vol pour la ville de Tengu à 10:30 - I Repeat Flight to Tengu City at 10:30," the female announcer said, glancing at her phone clock. It was 10:10 PM. 'Master.' Rider spoke through her mind link. "I already disposed of the humanoid, but the wizard managed to retreat." She sighed. She knew that DEM wizards were the best anti spirit defense available, against Rider they were overpowered no matter the numbers. "Good, let them be. We have places to go anyway." She said as she picked up her suitcase and walked to her plane.
As she was beginning to board, she stopped for a moment and looked at the item in her hand. It was Anna's drawing. "Don't worry, Anna. I will be there."
I promise.
