A small brown rat hides under a root in a forest while it waits for the latest thing that thinks it would make a nice meal to get bored. It debates returning to its human form, but in this forest there are worse things than an owl to be caught by as a man, after all an owl will only eat it. Listening carefully, he hears a rustle of a small mammal that didn't have his patience followed by the sound of the owl plunging into the loam where it was. Counting it safe to move out again, he experimentally leaves his hiding place, sniffing at the air and keeping an eye on the sky to see if he can spot any owls. Assured of his safety he continues following the slight pull on his dark mark through the forest.

Days later he reaches his destination and no sooner sets foot in the clearing, than he is forced to run for his life as a dark mist dives down at him to add possession to the way he doesn't want to die, he saw what happened to his last victim. He swerves to the left as he comes face to face with brown wolf, the mist seems to decide that the wolf would be a better host than a rat. As soon as he's no longer a potential host he turns back into a wizard prostrating himself on the forest floor. He carefully places both wands on the ground in front of him and bares his dark mark. The wolf stares at him with glowing red eyes before it steps forward and noses his head. He raises his head and meets the wolfs eyes.

Pain lances through his head as Voldemort rifles through his memories of the last 12 years, barely glancing at years spent at the Weasleys, then spending time watching his memories of the school since his master was cast out, paying special attention to the fact that it was a group of Aurors that tried to capture him. He then follows his journey down to Little Whinging where he listened in on conversations around #4. He pays special attention to a conversation between Victoria and Sirius where they talk about the difficulties that she's having with her pregnancy, and speculating that it might be down to reincarnating a goddess.

Wormtail, you will learn and perfect the fertility and pregnancy detection charms. We are going to get me a new body.

A week later a sick and dying wolf collapses at the edge of the forest. A brown rat jumps off of it's ruff and runs towards the nearby town. It takes a few days, but the rat returns before the wolf finally expires. A brief conversation later and a black mist leaves the wolf and follows the rat into the town to a house containing a young couple who are laying unconscious in bed. The Rat turns back to a man and casts the pregnancy detection charm on the woman. Once it returns a positive result the black mist flows into her womb and replaces the nascent soul with it's own. It then falls into slumber as the new life implants itself and attaches itself to the mother's life. The man turns back to a rat before preparing to make their life more convenient until she gives birth.

Nartharlotep retreats from Earth for a while, it is no longer tenable for it to remain so close to the Magi strong hold. Though maybe it doesn't need to work through pawns. Not that it can make pawns amongst the Sidhe, their memories are far too long for that to work. But not all manipulations need to be done by direct pawns. Taking a Sidhe guise it travels from court to court placing whispers of a clan that has allied itself with humans from earth. Nothing more need be done, as the news will be easily verifiable. They will also learn of the courts in the area too. If it's really lucky the ensuring skirmishes will wipe out some of the up and coming Defenders of Earth. It can't really do anything more overt, as the ancients that rule over some of those courts would smell the manipulation before it even reached their throne rooms.

After moving between the Sidhe world and Earth, it sinks into quintessence as it casts it's senses out to feel the comings and goings across the Dream. It's looking for the telltale sign of barely controlled travel into the dream. It's how it found Tom, and now that the buried knowledge is found again there will be more that go it alone. It observes a few departures that are just the wrong side of barely controlled, none of them have the telltale drag of mortals tagging along, unlike the two that passed him a few years ago when he wasn't expecting them. It catches one of them and rips the knowledge out of it's head before ripping the iron out of it's blood, waste not want not after all. They're experimenting with the barely magical, it can work with that. It constructs the ruins of an outpost, taking care to leave rotting tree matter inside the fallen walls. It then leave a couple of cuniform tablets that suggest that there is a training ground at a place it knows used to have transit points. It carefully smashes the one with the location in such a way that it can be rebuilt with some effort.

Travelling to the area in question it restores the transit point on the two worlds it could, then it ensures that the outermost area looks like it was used for longer than the rest of the facility. It then translates the instructions for imbuing someone with the power of the dream through blood sacrifice. After all, that's how it was created from their god by the proto-mayans. Of course it's people were wiped out, but they didn't touch the mortals so it knows it wasn't a fluke. As it started happening again before the Europeans invaded and destroyed not only the participants but also the pyramids they'd learnt the ritual from. If they can get here, it's not like it would be hard of them to get the needed magical blood, just bring a few mortals to the next world and let them cook in a cell for a while. That should set of a big enough flare that a great old one is attracted. Once they've taken the breach, it can call for it's master and they can feast without opposition.

For the first time ever since the clan was founded, Clan Yewglisten's lands were empty during the triple light. In ones and twos they return from the Sanctuary at Hogwarts to survey the damage. A couple immediately set out to find the largest intact tree stump that survived the light.
