Hey everybody! How have you been?
This chapter really took me hours of overthinking, as you already know I'm not much of a songfic writer and it takes me days to write a light chapter. *Cringe laugh* =[]
I hope my effort's worth it!
Happy reading ;P
Car Journey to Goa.
Tarika woke up suddenly with the ringtone of his phone.
'Hun! How irritating!' She wiped away the sleep traces from her eyes and sighed deeply looking around as he continued hearing from the caller.
The FM radio has started catching signals. She raised the volume as the silence and his humming was boring her to death. The lady RJ, she used to hate, surprisingly pulled on a good tune!
Music starts.
She looked outside the window with a smile. It's been an hour since they started their road journey to Goa. The Highway was rather under-crowded, maybe because they were out early in the morning. She checked her phone and hummed to the music with a small smile.
Seedhe saadhe saara saudha
seedha seedha hona jee
Maine tu ko pana hai ya
tu ne main ko khona jee
Aaaja dil ki kare saude baazi kya narazi
Aa re aa re aare aa..
She glanced at the driving seat excitedly. The song had suddenly drifted her mood up but her boyfriend had added a frown to it. She wished how good it would be if she could simply snatch away his phone, then be at peace, without him interrupting with his gore discussions.
Sauda hai dil ka yeh
Tu kar bhi le
Mera jahan baahon mein tu bhar bhi le
Saude mein de kasam
Kasam bhi le
Aake tu nigaahon mein sawar bhi le
Tarika glanced at the scene outside and then to him again like a kid who's getting bored in between his parents' gossips. She saw his focus was entirely on the road while was was only nodding or humming to the caller, and didn't really care looking around. Not kidding, she really doubted her existence.
Sauda udaano ka hai
Ya Aasmano ka hai
Le le udanein meri
Le mere Par bhi le
Sauda umeedon ka hai
Khwaabon ka neendon ka hai
Le Le tu neendein meri
Naino mein ghar bhi le
Seedhe saadhe sara sauda
seedha seedha hona jee
Maine tu ko pana hai ya
tu ne main ko khona jee
Aaaja dil ki kare saude baazi kya narazi
Aa re aa re are aa..
Next moment, She slapped her head like a hopeless romantic who was simply expecting what she knew was difficult to come true. For him, she was very much aware, his work was his first priority. Nobody could snatch the first position in that priority list. Not even he himself!
Abhijeet caught her staring at him and so raised his eyebrows as if wanted to ask, 'Kya hua?' but she shook her head with a sweet dreamy smile and started enjoying the music when suddenly to her surprise-
Dil kahe tere main honton se
Baaton ko chupke se loon utha
Uss Jagah Dheere se haule se
Geeton ko apne mein doon bitha
X2
To her surprise, he suddenly kept the phone on the dashboard and was singing along. She was very much shocked to hear him sing with that killing smile of his but his focus was still on the road instead.
Sauda taranon ka hai
Dil ke fasano ka hai
Le Le Taraane mere
Hoton pe ghar bhi le
Sauda Ujjalo ka hain
Roshan Khayalon ka hai
Le Le Ujaale mere
Aaja Nazar bhi le
Her lips left agape watching him act with the lyrics as if he meant those words. She gasped as he kept a hand on his heart and then stole a glance at her with the mention of 'Hoton pe ghar bhi le.' She could feel her spine chill with excitement and happiness.
(Seedhe saadhe saara saudha
seedha seedha hona jee
Maine tu ko pana hai ya
tu ne main ko khona jee
Aaaja dil ki kare saude baazi kya narazi
Aa re aa re aare aa..)
Music
"Okay enough Abhijeet! Yeh naye gaano ka shauk kabse laga tumhe?" She excitedly chirped as the music felt a little awkward after his naturally sweet notes touching her heart directly.
"Bs Dil ka sauda kr liya esa smjh lo!" He smirked using quite the attractive words to tease her.
"Hmm lekin thoda sambhal ke. Kahi yeh sauda mehnga na padh jaye apko!" She teased him further. The moment felt whole in itself.
"Kyu mehnga padega bhala?" He raised his one eyebrow and spared a quick glance at her with that playful half smirk never leaving his face, "Hum dil ka sauda bhi dimag se krte h!"
And they both chuckled. He was very happy to see at her smiling from ear to ear. He's been missing this moment since quite a long time now, but today was just one of those days. One of their days! He couldn't stop his stubborn stare that was again and again landing on her beautiful smile. Had he agreed to bring a driver, he might've been staring her the whole journey. He broke his stare and tried to concentrate on the road again reluctantly.
Mai kabhi bhulunga na tujhe
Chahe tu mujhko dena bhula
Aadato jesi hai tu meri
Aadatein kese bhuloo bhala
X2
She waited for him to sing further but he didn't. She was slightly disappointed with that and so poked his arm with, "Arey chup kyu ho? Aage gao na!"
He gave a shy smile and continued with-
Sauda yeh vaadon ka hai
Yaadon iraadon ka hai
Lele tu vaadein chahe
Tu toh mukar bhi le
Sauda isharon ka hai
Chahat ke maaro ka hai
Lele isharein mere
Inka asar bhi le..
He sang rather ignoring her stare but was very well aware of her smile that never let her lips shrink.
Seedhe saadhe saara saudha
seedha seedha hona jee
Maine tu ko pana hai ya
tu ne main ko khona jee
Aaaja dil ki kare saude baazi kya narazi
Aa re aa re aare aa..
He stopped as the chorus played in the background and glanced at her all fluttered and smiling. He shyly scratched the back of his neck and pulled back his concentration to the road ahead as he most importantly wanted them to get there safely.
They soon reached the venue and he dropped her, checked the security for his own satisfaction, inspite of her resistance, then let her at peace and left back to Mumbai.
He sure was tired with this exertion but for her, he could drive miles just to get a glimpse of her. He relieved a sigh as he saw the Milestone marking the entrance of Mumbai. He checked his watch and it was the time he usually gets to the bureau and so, he sighed, he would be there, not so late.
...
CID Bureau.
"Good morning sir!" Rajat wished him as soon as he entered.
"Haan Rajat kuch update?" He pulled out a kerchief and wiped away the sweat from his forehead.
"Hn sir! DNA report aagyi h. Yeh body.. sir Pragati Vishesh ki hi h!" He sounded a little sad with that confirmation.
"Hmm. Koi baat nhi hum unke qaatil ko jald se jald dhund nikalege!" He was sad and a little broken with that lost hope of her being alive.
"Hn sir! Humne unke bete se abhi kuch kaha toh nhi h lekin sir usey batana toh padega. Yeh log bht khatarnaak lag rhe h!" Rajat was sounding unusually concerned for the kid.
"Hmm tum.. sath hi rho uske." Abhijeet kept a hand on his shoulder as if trying to say to hold on a little longer, "Aur voh unke cases ki report?"
"Sir apke desk pr ready h. Saare official and unofficial saare cases ki details h sir!"
"Good work Rajat!" He suddenly noticed someone, "Arey? Sir jaldi aa gye kya?"
"Hn sir. Keh rhe the shyd kuch kaam h!" Rajat spoke looking towards Acp's cabin.
"Hmm chalo theek h. Ek kaam karo, Sachin se kaho call records achhi tarah se check kare. Kaha kaha gayi thi pragati pura ek track ready kro. Aur bhi kuch milta ho toh-"
"Abhijeet!" He heard his boss and saw him gesturing to come inside.
"Chalo tum Ghar niklo. Aur.." he took a momentary pause, "Sambhal ke baat krna usse!" He patted his back to which Rajat nodded understandably. He'd observed, in the past years, that Rajat was always very understanding and strong, like him, and so could be blindly trusted. Not just his face, he wondered, even his personality, skills and character matched him to considerable extent.
ACP's cabin.
"May I come in sir?" He knocked lightly.
"Hn Abhijeet andr aao!" His boss was sitting on his usual armed* chair but was reading a file with utmost concentration. He wondered what that file was about and so asked.
"Kya baat h sir?"
"Kesa rha Goa?" ACP spoke in the same tone without even looking at him.
"Sir?" He was shocked about how does he know? And how is he supposed to apologize now, "Sir.. voh.. mai apko batane hi vala tha sir lekin kal.. raat bht ho gyi thi aur maine socha ki subh-subh jaldi bureau bhi pohunch jaunga time se toh isliye -"
"Maine tumse kya pucha Abhijeet?" ACP still didn't part his stare from that file.
"Yehi ki Goa kesa rha!" Abhijeet answered a little ashamed of his act and a little confused.
"Hn toh kesa rha Goa?" ACP now looked at him and found him rather confused and slightly perplexed to what to answer exactly. ACP sighed looking at him not uttering a single word and so cleared a bit, "Tumhe satisfaction mil gya na?"
His mouth opened as embarrassment creeped him. He immediately downed his neck, quite ashamed to feel his ears turning red. He forgot that it was now his turn to speak further and kept cursing the situation.
"Tumhe kya laga tum nhi btaoge toh mujhe pta nhi chalega?" ACP was slightly enjoying the look on his face. How red he's turned. He suppressed his laugh and continued with, "Mai khud se jyda apni team ka khyal rkhta hu. Yeh baat bhulna mat kabhi!"
"Jee sir. Sorry sir! Mai kabhi bina bataye -"
"Baat bina btaye jane ki nhi h Abhijeet. Baat yeh h ki tum itne thake huye lag rhe ho. Aaj ka off le lete? Yaha mai sab smbhal leta!"
"Na..nahi sir. Off nhi lena tha isiliye toh itna jaldi mei aaya hu mai. Aap fikr mat kijiye yeh case ek baar khatm ho jaye phir mai khud aapse meri chhuti sanction krwaluga!" He was still stubborn with that point. It wouldn't have mattered much if he'd taken a loose and took the day off, but first; he was really maddened by the way Pragati was killed and second; he never would wanna do anything that would increase pressure on his god father.
"Theek h ab tum manoge toh nhi. Lag jao kaam pr!" ACP shut the sile in front of him throwing a disappointed glance at his right hand, and forwarded the file to him saying, "Yeh official cases mei toh kuch nhi mila. Sare cases closed h and koi loop hole bhi nhi h jiski vajah se Pragati ka khoon kiya gaya ho. Koi bhi gang active nhi h. Kuch nhi h!"
"Sir aapne kyu? Mai dekh leta sir! Itne saare cases-" he was cut in the middle.
"Kehna kya chahte ho tum? Mujhpe bharosa nhi h!?" ACP spoke raising his eyebrow.
"Nhi sir.. mera mtlb voh nhi mai toh bs."
"Theek h ab jao aur baki ke cases dekho kuch milta h. And mujhe update krte rehna mai uss terrorist ke baremei dekhta hu kuch ho skta h kya."
"Th- thank you sir!" He whispered, took the file and left with fast steps. He was so relieved that one heavy task was removed from his chest and that now he wouldn't be working overtime. He smiled lightly on how his father figure understood his internal turmoil without him even mentioning it.
He smiled lightly, took a deep breath and moved to his desk to get on with the cop mode and start with the unofficial cases, CDs and other reports that were still stashed on his desk.
...
Daya's side.
Pradyuman Mansion.
It was a whole week now. He was staying home alone, ignoring everything, everywhere all at once but his work. The work that kept him bugging all day and night. And the rejection problem was kinda healing it's effects itself.
Only one thing bothered him at the moment; how will he face Tarika when he submits the report to the headquarters. What will be her reaction to it? Will she support his decision? Or is he going to create further problems? Thinking all this he lost the track of time. His stomach growled as he remembered he really needs to fill in something as he already skipped his breakfast.
He glanced at the clock that striked 1.00 pm.
He sighed and started moving towards the kitchen to see if the lunch was prepared. He could still see the chef Kaka cooking and was rather sad about it. He asked to him if there was any leftovers from the breakfast and was relieved to know that some sandwiches were kept for him.
He asked kaka to heat them up and stood on the side watching him keep a pan and struggle with two things at the same time. Daya politely took the sandwich department in his hand and soon was ready asking his leave from kaka with a plate of sandwiches along with complementing sauces.
He couldn't think of anything as he started stuffing those sandwiches in his mouth quite unnaturally. He was too hungry to care the manners of eating. He had just finished a piece as his cell rang up loudly. Seeing the caller ID, he struggled to gulp down the big bite, that almost broke his food pipe, but did it anyhow.
He made a face and picked it without greeting the other man.
"Voh.. study room mei ek file reh gyi h mujhse. Baki sab crime scene pr h isliye tumhe phone kiya."
"Mai le aunga!" And he cut the call casually.
He took a sharp turn from the dining table to climb up the stairs while stuffing another piece of sandwich and cursing his luck under his breath.
According to what he presumed, now again he has to see something that'll spoil his whole day and he'll surely skip his meals so better finish his sandwich before anyone else snatches it away from him. Coz, this sandwich was the only good thing going on in his life.
After successfully finishing his plate and having alot of cursing in his brain, he reached the bureau and relieved a sigh finding only his father there. He directly walked to his cabin and knocked the door.
"Aa jao!"
Acp pradyuman looked up from the computer's screen and forwarded his hand to grab the file that Daya forwarded already.
No words. No gestures. Nothing came from both figures. Daya turned and started leaving in a thought to not meet anyone else here but..
He found Abhijeet, Rajat, and Freddy walking in with Her. His eyes widened double in shock and heart raced in panick when he heard, "Oh my god! What a coincidence!"
But suddenly she seemed to understand what his expressions were evincing; He does not want everyone to know that they've met before. She didn't think for a second and averted her gaze from him and explained further, "Ah.. I mean Aaj subh hi Acp sir ke barei mei padha tha maine and there he is!"
Daya glanced at her first then to his father, who was, as usual, looking suspiciously at her. He sighed and resumed his walk to the door, confirming that nobody noticed the little thing she heard from him, without him saying it.
"Bht naseeb valo ko milta h yeh mauka!" Freddy spoke in a suspicious way.
"So.. Dr. Shanaya. Kya bta skti h aap hume iss admi k bare mei?" Abhijeet showed her a picture in which a man was lying dead on a stretcher.
She watched the photo carefully and then replied, "No. I don't think mai isey janti hu."
"Dekhiye zara dhyaan se. Ho skta h aapne dekha ho isey kahi." Abhijeet stressed and she looked at it again.
"Nhi sir maine iss admi ko kabhi nhi dekha!"
"Arey ese kaise nhi dekha haan? Logo ne isse khud apke hospital mei aate dekha h!" It was Purvi this time, almost scaring her.
"Hn.. hn sir dekha hoga logo ne." She gulped but still spoke politely, "Lekin ho skta h tb meri shift na ho. Vaise, saare departments mei se aap mujhe hi kyu laaye h yaha?"
"Isliye laaye h kyuki ek hafte phle jis vaqt casualties aayi thi, tum hospital mei hi thi. And trauma cases tum hi treat krti ho right?" Acp pradyuman spoke while coming out of his cabin.
"Jee sir yeh Mera hi department h lekin.. mere alava mere juniors and us din toh ambulance ke siren sunte hi not even ER, infact saare free doctors inhi casualties ko check kr rhe the! Ho skta h koi patient mujhse miss ho gya ho!"
"Achha jis time casualties aayi thi tum hospital mei hi thi na?" Abhijeet dug further.
"Sir usdin meri night shift thi. Mujhe takreeban 8.30 bje call aaya iske baremei inform krne ke liye. Mai vese hi turant hospital pohunch gyi thi."
"Mtlb jb casualties report ho rhi thi tum vaha nhi thi."
"Nhi sir. Mai aayi tb mujhe direct OT mei pohunchna padha tha. Emergency surgery thi ek patient ki."
"Hmm theek hai. Usdin ke sare casualties ki details chahiye mujhe." Acp pradyuman ordered and she nodded.
"Sir mai jata hu inke sath!" Freddy spoke but Acp rejected the Idea.
"Nhi Fredericks yaha bht kaam hai tum nhi jaoge!" Freddy gave a confused look, "Daya ko phone kro! Voh yahi hoga neeche. Voh jake le ayega details!"
Shanaya understood that His name was Daya. She didn't show anything on her face but was damn excited to meet him again.
"Jee sir!" Freddy spoke and called Daya before going out and asking Shanaya to follow him.
"Sir aap Daya ko kaise?" Abhijeet was confused as well as shocked by his decision. Daya was off-duty nowadays and so he shouldn't be involved in any on going case. Especially this case, which was going slight off records.
"Abhijeet!" A strict call and he got that something's cooking in his Boss's mind. He rolled his eyes and sighed before leaving back to his desk and mouthing 'Okay sir!"
