Habitat: Xenomorph Hives, anywhere.
Diet: Meat, Men's essence.
Disposition: Aggressive, loyal, intelligent
Drones are the most common type of Xenomorphs found in hives.
The Drones form the backbone of a hive as they are responsible for gathering the food for the Hive, taking care of the Queen, and finding husbands for themselves as well as anyone suitable for their Queen. They are the ones to usually maintain the hive by secreting the hive resin needed to repair and tend to its interior. These highly versatile members of the Xenomorph hierarchy are also the ones to defend the Hive from intruders or incursions.
In the original Xenomorph lifecycle, Drones evolve after they are born from a larvae called a Chestburster, named such for the way they burst from the chest of the host implanted with a special seed by a Facehugger, which usually results in the death of the host. Though this lifecycle has been changed, as previously mentioned in a past chapter.
Speaking of hierarchy, Drones are typically commanded by higher-ranking Xenomorphs such as the Praetorians and Queens. Interestingly enough, if there are no Praetorians or Queens present, then a drone might mutate, if given enough time, into a Praetorian or Queen. The truth behind that process is unknown.
Xenomorph Drones' strength has been documented to rival an Adult Yaujta. They also possess acidic blood capable of easily melting through flesh and tough materials. They also are born with sharp claws and a tail capable of piercing through the skin.
Drones are always known for their aggressive and animalistic behavior, always seeking husbands for themselves or finding a suitable one for their Queens. However, they display fierce loyalty towards their Queen first and foremost, and secondly to their husbands.
Drones are also very intelligent, capable of setting up ambushes, performing stealthy maneuvers, and even coming up with strategies to outmaneuver and capture their prey. They tend to come in groups and are always commanded by a higher-ranking Xenomorph, like a Praetorian or a Queen.
The Drones can also communicate with one another via a Hivemind, which allows them to better coordinate the capture of males that can become their husbands. Though they also use their Hivemind as a way of simply communicating with one another on how they are doing
Drones usually appear as female humanoids with big breasts, domed heads, black carapace, black-smoke stack growths, black claws, a tail, and a second jaw. They also appear to be taller than a regular human.
There are other variants of the Drones like the Carved and Ridge variants. The carved drones usually have a rugged skull while the ridge variant has ridged skulls. Though aside from that, they share the same exact characteristics, like the more common domed Drones.
A very special version of Drones are known as the Elite Guard and also known as Palatines who are Queen-sized drones responsible for guarding the Queen Mother. There are only a few of them, but they are capable of easily destroying a group of Order soldiers with ease and are very resistant to damage. They are also very aggressive but will take any action the Queen Mother orders them to take, and will throw away anything in their lives if something endangers the Queen Mother. Palatines mostly look the same as Drones but with some extra features around their body, such as spines on either side of their heads. Some even possess tusks.
Nameless Scholar: It is interesting, to say the least, that these drones seek out husbands as if they were like normal mamanos. It makes me wonder what the original face huggers would've done in such a situation.
A/N: So here we go! The Xenomorph Drones! The most important part of a Xenomorph hive! Am I right? It was going to happen eventually, it is the most iconic and possibly coolest alien monster in the history of cinema.
