Habitat: Xenomorph Hives, anywhere.

Diet: Meat, Men's essence.

Disposition: Aggressive, loyal, intelligent, confident

Xenomorph Praetorians are a subspecies of Xenomorphs that come about later in a Hive.

Once a Xenomorph Hive reaches a population of 300, the Queen will choose adult Xenomorphs from her brood to become Praetorians, the chosen are fed by Workers with Royal Jelly until the transformation happens. Originally, when the transformation happened, the chosen Xenomorphs would produce a pheromone that caused the other Xenomorphs to attack them which would sometimes result in the deaths of those chosen. If the chosen survive then they would be strengthened and would eventually transform into a Praetorian.

After being corrupted by demonic energy, the process of creating a Praetorian is still the same but the chosen Xenomorphs do not risk dying. Instead, they make other Xenomorphs aroused and become the center of an orgy before becoming something known as a Royal Guards which are similar to Praetorians but are weaker and smaller. Though these Royal Guards, if the Queen deems them worthy, can still participate again in the Praetorian Creation Process to become a Praetorian, in which case the orgy is more intense. The reason for this change is that the Hive Mother wants to get rid of the original methods as she sees them as barbaric and wasteful of subjects.

Praetorians can also be created when a Praetorian Facehugger allows her vaginal fluids to enter the husband of a Xenomorph to allow him to impregnate a Xenomorph with the seed necessary to allow her to give birth to a Praetorian. However, it's very rare for a normal Xenomorph to give birth to a Praetorian with a higher chance to be born from a Praetorian or a Queen (or higher).

As for what the Praetorians' role is in a Xenomorph Hive, it is to safeguard the Hive's Royalty (a Queen or Empress, specifically) from outside threats. As such, they are always seen accompanying a Queen. Although they can serve as commanders during wars as they possess the intelligence necessary to command the lower castes of Xenomorphs.

Praetorians are known to be more aggressive than their fellow Xenomorphs as they will be the ones to attack their opponents with the most ferocious intent. They are also the most confident Xenomorphs as they like to lead their underlings from the front during an assault. Like most Xenomorphs, they are loyal to their Queens with the Praetorians being the most loyal compared to the other Xenomorphs.

If for whatever reason a Hive's Queen is killed, the strongest and most intelligent Praetorian will molt into a new Queen to preserve the Hive.

Praetorians seek out husbands who share the same beliefs as them: loyalty and strength. They want a husband who is strong but also shows a great amount of loyalty. If they do find the right type of male, then they challenge them to see if they are worthy. The challenge in itself will determine if the male in question is worthy of marriage. Other Praetorians and Xenomorphs will watch this event unfold, sometimes even a Queen or other Hive Monarchs will see this event unfold. Some nests have built-in arenas for this occasion (the arenas can also serve as training grounds for other Xenomorphs).

There are two results of a battle in the arena. If the Praetorian wins, she will marry the male human if he proves himself to be as strong and as loyal as she likes. If the male human wins, then the Praetorian will still propose to him if he is worthy after the fight.

But usually, if a human was taken to an arena, it meant that he was the right kind of guy to marry a Praetorian. And said the guy is always going to say yes to their proposal. Immediately after the proposal the husband and Praetorian have sex and this always leads to the male becoming an incubus as a Praetorian can emit more demonic energy than an average Xenomorph who isn't royalty.

There have been no official reports of an arena fight that did not end in a wedding.

Praetorians are known for being durable as there are many reports of Praetorians resisting musket shots. They are known to be strong enough to take down trained armies and there was one documented case of one Praetorian fighting a strong hero to a standstill and winning.

Like other Xenomorphs, they have acidic blood, a sharp-tipped tail, and claws. They can also spit acid at their opponents.

Praetorians don't make much use of stealth tactics like hiding in the shadows preferring to directly confront their target. This is due to their size and strength as they are heavier than a regular Xenomorph, making stealth rather impractical. However, despite being unable to scale walls and ceilings, they are as agile and fast as the lower Xenomorph caste members.

Praetorians are also able to access the Hivemind and use this psychic link to talk to their Xenomorph underlings to help them set up ambushes and communicate with their fellow Praetorians. They also use this link to talk to the Queen they are meant to protect.

Praetorians appear to be similar to their Queen with a large head crest, though they lack a second pair of arms. They have longer dorsal spines that end in sharp points and are taller than the average Xenomorph Drone. Like all Xenomorphs, they have black skin, a dome-like head, and a black carapace on various parts of their body. They have a voluptuous figure and wide hips as well, though some of them have human faces with eyes and hair. Still, it depends on the Hive they come from, as Xenomorphs have unique traits depending on their Hive.

Praetorians are also known to evolve into massive assault castes known as Ravagers or support castes designed to transport Facehuggers known as Carriers at the behest of their Queen, depending on what kind of situation they are facing. They can also evolve into Palatines which are massive drone-like Xenomorphs that typically serve the Hive Mother but only five are known to exist at a time.

Nameless Scholar: These Praetorians are incredibly loyal to their Queen and the husbands whom they choose. I remember seeing one being so loyal they would have killed themselves if it was to help their Queen, but the situation was fortunately resolved without resorting to her death. They were chosen to protect the Queen for a good reason, after all.

A/N: Now we get to see the Praetorians show up. Yes, I am portraying more of the Xenomorphs' hierarchy from the expanded universe as seen here. Also, Happy New Year, everybody!

Happy New Year everyone! Let this year be a good 2023 for all involved. Here's this chapter to start the New Year off.
