"Whoa, what's up with RJ and guess it's about the first day of kindergarten which is today but why's he being like that, daddy." Honey asked Rocket as he sighed along with Lylla, Flower, Quill and Lyllie
It was a few mornings later and the first day of kindergarten for Flower, Quill, Lyllie and RJ but RJ was upset and having a meltdown on the floor which bothered his brother and sisters along with Lylla explaining their brother's brain thought differently from theirs guessing kindergarten being strange and new was probabky frightening to his special lil guy tapping his furry chin in thought.
"Lylla, you take the others to school, and I'll try to calm RJ down, then maybe he can try again." he told her.
"That's a good idea sweetie, go ahead." Lylla told him kissing him as Floor and Teefs were taking TJ to pre-school seeing Honey looking at RJ concerned hoping their dad could help him as they left the house seeing RJ sitting on the floor withbhis furry arms crossed and a scowl on his lil furry face making Rocket sighing knowing something bothered him.
"Come on buddy let's go talk." he said scooping the male-kit up in his arms despite his back hurting which RJ noticed as his das got onto his lazyboy recliner raising it just a little, knowing Quill and RJ loved jumping off it only right now on his dad's lap, he didn't feel like jumping offright now, he just wanted tosnuggle.
"How cone you were upset about starting kindergarten this morning, from what I heard, you loved it when you and your sibs went for orientation, did somebody say it would be scary because it's not." Rocket asked him in a gentle tone.
"There's nobody like me there…" RJ replied.
"Ummm your sibs are raccoons like you, if that's what you mean." Rocket told him.
"No, I meant nobody there with my autisikness." RJ replied which Rocket got, knowing he sometimes messed up his words which he and Lylla gently corrected him on without making him feel bad sensing he was becoming a little more aware he was different from his sibs.
"Ohhhhh you mean autismness, yeah I get it but during orientation, mommy was explaining to the kindergarten teacher aboht that but that's not just what bothers you." Rocket told him.
"I'm worried the other kids won't get me you know because I do things different like jumping off things as I can't help that." RJ replied squelching his lil paws into fists which was a stim he'd created to help when he felt upset or angry because his dad and mom had taught him to keep his paws and claws to himself but Rocket understood cuddling him guessing he could read the kits books or storybooks about autism so they could understand RJ better and make him feel good aboht himsekf.
"Really, there's storybooks about Autism." RJ asked.
"Yep, we're gonna find some to help your sibs understand, like when we read about Pride." Rocket told him sensing the male-kit felt a little better and could take him to school, however he was loving this daddy time he was having so guessed RJ didn't have to go, he could try again in the morning seeing Kaci home after fixing the founders statue realising it was lunchtime seeing her and RJ washing their paws but Kaci knew RJ was quiet.
"I'm glad you fixed the statue but RJ had a situation this morning." Rocket told her.
"… Yeah Rockie but peopke were being weird like at Knowherebucks but I ignored them, like what we talked about." she told him making RJ curious about this
Later that afternoon, the kits were arouhd their table having afternoon snacks and talking about how kindergarten had went impressing Honey and TJ as being in pre-school they were curious about kindergarten so Flower, Lyllie and Quill were happy to tell both younger kits about kindergarten noticing RJ was quietly eating ice-cream seeing Lyllie glare at him.
"You would've seen what it was like, if you didn't have a freak-out." she said seeing them gasp at what she'd just said confusing Honey and TJ thinking Lyllie had said a badword seeing Quill sighing explaining that Lyllie saying that about RJ was bad like their dad had explained to them, and aftertheir snack, they could play forca bit seeing RJ looked sad.
"I just wanna play by myself forca bit." he said going over to the cardboard box which had his Lego stuff in it making Rocket sighing as Quill had told him, what Lyllie had said to RJ which made him very surprised putting Lyllie in tome ojt but Kaci was sitting near RJ on the floor waiting until he felt like talking
"Lyllie said something mean to me, just because I think different." he sniffled on her lap.
"I get it, somebody called me a monster when Inwas trying to fix Knowherebucks." she too,d him.
"You're not a monster, daddy said not to judge others before getting to know them, and I see goodness in your Heart." he told her surprising her
