The Empress of Duel Academy Rewritten

Yuina is one of Duel Academy's strongest duelists thanks to her special summoning method, but when she finally travels to another Dimension her entire world shatters at the implications. Now torn between her loyalties to her home and the friends she's made what choice will she make when the time comes? (Rewriting this one.)

2. Chapter 2

Yuina took a slow breath as she stood in the same room where Edo had so easily defeated her a mere five months ago before placing her hand over her necklace. 'This time will be different; my deck's weakness is gone, and I won't allow myself to lose in front of the Professor again.'

"The Professor told me you wanted a rematch?" questioned a male voice. "Alright, let's see if you've improved at all."

Yuina opened her eyes to see a smirking Edo staring at her. "I have, you'll see exactly how much when I win."

"Well, you're certainly more confident." Edo noted before turning to where the Professor was watching the duel.

"Begin." The Professor stated simply. 'This will be the true test of not just your deck, but your talents as a duelist Yuina, don't disappoint me.'

"Let's Duel!" Yuina and Edo called together.

Yuina 4000 Edo 4000: "I'll take the first move this time, and I'll start with the spell card Temple of the Sealed Ones!" Yuina called as the room transformed into a temple with symbols covering the walls and a glowing circle on the ground. "With that done, I'll set a monster and end my turn."

"Well you're certainly starting more defensively than before." Edo admitted. "But that won't be enough to beat me. I summon my Destiny HERO – Decider in attack mode and then I'll set two cards facedown. Now, Decider attack her facedown monster."

Edo's monster charged at Yuina's facedown revealing it to be a small bird that shattered easily.

"My Sealed Robin has a special ability, when it's sent to the graveyard, I can add one Sealed Monster from my deck to my hand." Yuina revealed. "I pick my Sealed Fairy."

"With a name like that you're probably planning an Unseal Summon of a light monster." Edo noted ending his turn. "Not that it's going to change the outcome of our duel."

"You shouldn't underestimate my monsters." Yuina told him as she drew her card and the yellow citrine gemstone on her necklace started to glow. "I send two Sealed Fairies to the graveyard to unlock the seal of Light! I summon Unsealed Archangel in attack mode."

Edo smirked seeing that before shielding his eyes as two small fairies appeared before a pillar of light appeared behind Yuina only to fade as an armored angel with glowing yellow marks appeared in its place.

"This monster is weaker than the one you…" Edo started before pausing as the temple began glowing. "Wait, so this is how you've evolved your deck."

"It's one of a few ways." Yuina nodded. "When I perform an Unseal Summon within the Temple of the Sealed Ones, I can set one spell or trap card from my deck."

"Impressive, that effect gets around the limitation of your Unsealed monsters being forced to return to your extra deck during the end phase." The Professor noted calmly.

"Thank you Professor." Yuina smiled before taking a card from her deck and placing it facedown.

"I'll admit that wasn't a terrible move, but your monster only has 1500 attack points which is less than Decider's 1600." Edo pointed out before smirking. "So Yuina, what kind of ability does your monster have?"

"Unsealed Archangel reveals all your facedown spell and trap cards, and for each trap card he gains 300 attack points." Yuina answered.

Edo frowned as his cards were revealed to be a copy of Polymerization and a trap called D-Fortune. "One trap means your monster gains 300 attack points."

"It isn't. lot, but Unsealed Archangel can attack your Destiny HERO – Decider." Yuina called as her monster formed a spear of light and threw it towards Edo's monster destroying it. "That ends my turn, but it also activates the other effect of my Temple of the Sealed Ones."

"Your field spell has another effect?" Edo asked hearing that.

Yuina nodded with a smile as her only monster vanished in a pillar of light identical to the one it first appeared in. "When an Unsealed Monster leaves the field by its own effect, I can draw one card."

Yuina 4000 Edo 3800: "Having a new card in your hand won't help you if it isn't on the field." Edo pointed out drawing his own card. "Of course since you already know what my set card is I'll use Polymerization and merge two copies of Destiny HERO – Drilldark together."

The two monsters appeared and entered the Fusion Vortex.

"Two heroes drilling the bedrock of destiny. Now become one and reign in the pitch-black future! Fusion Summon! Come on! Destiny HERO - Dystopia!" Edo chanted as his Fusion Monster appeared. "Now Dystopia's special ability deal 1600 points of damage."

Yuina braced herself as Dystopia fired a blast at her dropping her down to just 2400 life points.

'What will you do now Yuina?' the Professor thought calmly. 'This attack will defeat you, unless the card you set with your field spell can protect your lie points.'

"Looks like you still need work on your deck, of course you could always start using something more practical like Fusion Summoning." Edo smirked. "Dystopia attack her directly and end this duel!"

"Not this time, I play the trap card Broken Seal!" Yuina called quickly. "It negates your attack and adds Sealed Robin to my hand."

Seeing that Edo frowned. "Alright, you survived this turn, but you won't last much longer. I end my move with one facedown card."

Yuina 2400 Edo 3800: "I know my deck still needs work, but this duel is showing me that I'm moving in the right direction, and I'll definitely be able to help achieve our goals." Yuina mentioned drawing her card only to smile. "And the card I drew is going to help me win this duel."

"Well, if you think that's true than prove it." Edo challenged her. "Dystopia and I can handle anything you try."

(Yuina has added new support cards to her deck in order to better hold her own against Edo Phoenix and so far, she's doing better than she did in their first match. Next chapter the duel will end and Yuina will meet another student of Duel Academy. As always any reviews or critique is appreciated.)

This card must be summoned by discarding the above cards from your hand and cannot be summoned in other ways. When this card is summoned reveal all facedown spell and trap cards your opponent controls, this card gains 300 attack points for each trap revealed by this effect. During the End Phase return this monster to your Extra Deck.
