Their parents had done everything in their power to stop the news from getting out, unfortunately, it wasn't enough.

Everyone immediately assumed it was Blondie Lockes, because although the intrepid little reporter had gotten better at respecting privacy, who could resist a scoop like this?

However, when confronted by the headmaster, Blondie was genuinely shocked.

"You mean the rumours are true?" Blondie gasped dumbstruck. "I can't believe it, I mean… people sounded pretty sure, and we did just take a DNA test but… wow" She leaned backwards in her seat and ran her fingers through her hair. "How does something like that even happen?"

"That is none of your business Miss Lockes" Headmaster Grimm said sternly.

"What? But why would you even tell me if.." her voice trailed off. "Wait a minute! You think I leaked the rumour?

Giles spoke up

"Well, we just wondered, because you are such a prominent reporter in this school."

"But I wouldn't ever do anything like this."

Everyone raised an eyebrow.

"Ok so a long time ago maybe," she huffed, but I've changed! Besides, even if I wanted to, how could I have even found out? I was in class when Apple was called to the office, just ask Madame Yaga!"

Now that Raven thought about it, how had someone been able to leak the info? She supposed that they might have guessed, since they had been called into the office after a DNA test, but that's a pretty good guess.

Neither Apple or Raven went to school for the next week, but it the silence in both the homes was stiffening. Of course, The Good King told Raven that he'd always be her father no matter what, and that he'd always be there for her. This didn't surprise her, after all what kind of "good king" would abandon his daughter?

"Raven, you don't need to visit her right now if you don't want to."

"But I have to eventually don't I?" Raven said pacing the floor or the Good King's Castle.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" He bit his lip "Your mother isn't always the most reasonable in these situations and you've already gone through so much-"

"Dad enough" Raven said sternly, though she couldn't help but smile. Her father truly loved her. "You and mom will just argue again if you see each other, I can do this on my own. I've done it this long right?"

He hugged her tightly.

"No matter what happens, you will always be my family."

Raven wasn't able to keep herself from shedding a few tears. "I know dad, I love you too."

When they finally parted Raven made her way to the mirror room. She felt like a poor soul on the way to the executioner.

When she finally arrived her mother was facing away from her. She waited a beat before turning around and facing Raven, though she was missing her usual evil flair. Was her mother… sad? Really sad, not just her usual crocodile tears? It was unnerving.

"Raven, I need you to swear to me that that this doesn't leave this room."

Her mom couldn't possibly have something that could shock her more than the last week had."

"I love you… and I really wish you were my blood daughter."

Tears welled up in her eyes, looks like life would keep surprising her.

Long story short, after they shared a few tears, her mother discussed plans for the future. Raven's inability to be evil had always been attributed to her father (why the headmaster thought that leaving her with one of the kindest men in the world wouldn't affect her ability to be evil was beyond her) but her mother suggested that maybe her relation to Snow White was the driving force behind her hood soul. When Raven replied that she didn't think Snow White made anyone a better person, her mother doubled over laughing.

"Oh ho ho ho! I love that sense of humour of yours! I'm going to miss our dark magic practice!"

Dark magic practice? Gosh that had been a long time ago, but why was she going to miss it? If they were stopping did that mean…?

"NO! Mom you can't!" She cried.

"Raven, PLEASE don't tell me that you've changed your mind this late! I've been asking you for years to take this seriously and now that you can't you suddenly take interest!"

"Mom! You can't do this to Apple! She's spent her entire life wanting her destiny, you can't just take that away!"

"Raven enough! You have already caused enough trouble with your 'rebel' nonsense! You clearly were meant to be good, no thanks to your father.

Raven was fuming. Her mother and father stopped getting along a long time ago, but every insult towards her dad made her blood boil.

"Don't talk about Dad that way!"

"Raven, don't raise your voice at me!" Her mother snapped.

She couldn't help it, but she was too angry to stop herself.

"IM GLAD YOU AREN'T MY MOTHER!"

..

.

They didn't speak to each other for the rest of the night. Or week.

Neither Raven or Apple had been to school for the next week and a half. They were both given two weeks to gather themselves, but between her father's busy schedule and her feud with her mother, the house felt too cold and empty to stay.

She didn't know how it was possible, but somehow the reception that she received at school felt more overwhelming than the when she got the news that she was Snow White's daughter.

Of course, Headmaster Grimm is being weird around her again, that much she hexpected but the thought that the way he immediately changed he behaviour when he realized she was from a different story made her sick. The thought that he might begin treating Apple the same way she had been treated all these years made her want to scream. Still, he probably wouldn't dare to mistreat Apple now. Genetically related or no, she was still raised by Snow White.

During her first and second year, most students were terrified of her. Her very presence in a room was enough to make people scream. But between her rebellion during legacy day, removing the curse in Wonderland and defeating her mother during the dragon games, the students had warmed up to her. They didn't hate her now, quite the opposite, she had many friends. But what creeped her out were the questions that everyone had for her.

"Are you going to live with Snow White Now?"

"Do you want to follow your true destiny?"

"What's going to happen to Apple?"

"I knew she couldn't be evil! Look at the way she acts."

"Wait, does that mean she's not really a rebel?"

The next big surprise (which she was starting to have quite enough of) were the Charmings. Their mom was somewhat supportive of Raven and Dexter's relationship albeit a bit cautious, and she had known about Darling's desire to rebel for years. Their father was a different story.

During her time at home, Dexter was the only person she found herself comfortable talking to. To her surprise, this didn't actually make his parents happy, Daring was always supposed to inherit the Snow White story, Dexter was supposed to be destined for second place. Nothing would make their dad happy though, that much they had figured out chapters ago. Still, that didn't mean Dexter wasn't curious about who he was written to be. It wasn't just him either, Darling and Daring also sent the odd letter about how things were at school, asking how Raven was and, in Darling's letters, how Apple was. Dexter wasn't the only Charming who was in a "forbidden relationship".

Darling Charming and Apple had always been pretty close, but when Darling awoke Apple from her apple-induced coma, it hadn't taken long to discover that they were destined for one another. It took a while, but their shared love of Wonderland, tales of thrilling adventure and matching ambitions made them inseparable. But sources verified that Apple had cut off all forms of communication, even to her own girlfriend.

After she escaped the swarm of nosy students, Raven went to meet Dexter in the library to meet in private. She looked around but couldn't see him. The only unusual thing she could was the Stepsisters' nosy glances and a large book fort in the corner of the room.

Curiously, Raven creeped up to the fort and peeked into the entrance.

"Password please?" Called a familiar voice.

Raven and Dexter's laughter echoed through the library.
