If she hadn't been one of her best friends and her roommate for the past 3 years, Raven wouldn't have even known it was her.

This might have been the first time Apple had worn sweatpants in her entire life; the tag was still on them and they looked brand new. Her hair looked beautiful as ever, but it clearly hadn't been brushed, and she had foregone all makeup.

On any other day, Raven would have admired the change, goodness knows that Apple looked great in anything, and makeup was never a requirement. But Apple liked putting on makeup and dresses, she always said it was relaxing for her, and it made her happy.

Raven could feel the table shaking and looked to her left and saw Cedar, eyes wide and both hands firmly clasped over her mouth. Cedar's curse prevented her from lying, unfortunately it also forced her to blurt out her true feelings. It could range from embarrassing to deeply troubling, and many students avoided her because of it. She could force her mouth shut, but that only worked for so long.

"Apple I've never seen you arrive late before!" Cedar gasped, out of breath.

She tried her best to cut herself off , but she eventually gave up and sunk her head down on the table.

Apple absentmindedly fiddled with some charms that she had added to her backpack. They were mostly apple-related except a few pictures of her friends. Raven could have sworn that her picture had been there before, but it was nowhere to be seen.

"I didn't know everyone would be here on time." Apple finally spoke, her voice uncharacteristically raspy. "I figured that villainy would encourage students to break the rules." She shrugged and focused back on the charms.

"Villainy must have a purpose" Mr. Badwolf replied calmly. "Otherwise it tends to negatively effect the self. You didn't miss much, but you gain very little by being late. However, given your circumstances, and the fact that I got a call ahead of time, you won't be marked late."

Apple looked up.

"Oh… ok, I've only taken one villainy class before. I guess I missed out on the basics." Her voice was practically drained of all emotion.

After the incident at legacy day, Raven signed up for Princessology in her second term. Apple had been outraged at the idea of Raven taking her favourite class and decided to take Home-Evilnomics because it was Raven's favourite class (it wasn't her favourite class was Muse-ic)to prove a point. Raven dropped Princessology about 15 minutes in, but Apple actually decided to stay in that class, something about "learning how to protect your kingdom from evil." It had been her only ever A- but Apple was still pleased that she got above B level.

After a few more seconds of silence the lesson officially began. While Apple and Raven were away, they studied villains who failed in the past, and how they could have avoided their fates.

"You will be split up into groups of two." Mr.Badwolf announced, "one person will suggest a plan for your assigned villain that would lead them to success, the other will come up with a counter-strike to prevent it." He had the students pick names out of a hat. "This will continue until one of you can't find a believable strategy, you will write down your results and hand them in for grading!"

The groups consisted of: Ramona and Cedar with Cinderella's Stepmother, Faybelle and Hunter had the Wicked Witch of the West, Raven and Duchess had the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk and finally, Apple and Lizzie had The Evil Queen.

Cerise wasn't technically part of the class, but she joined Ramona and Cedar to observe.

"Seriously? Not only does she come to the Big Bad Wolf's class, but she's sitting next to Ramona and Cedar? Does she want to get found out?" Duchess scoffed.

"Find out what exactly?" Raven tried not to sound too obvious.

Duchess rolled her eyes.

"Don't play dumb Raven" Duchess lowered her voice. "Almost everyone here knows that Ramona and Cerise are sisters!" She counted off on her fingers. "I know, Lizzie knows, I know you know so don't drop the act!" She pointed at Raven accusingly. "Obviously Cerise and Ramona know and.." she paused and took a look around the class. "Ok so that's not as many as I thought but that's still a lot! Unless Apple knows but I highly doubt she wouldn't blab."

Raven was about to ask how Duchess knew all this but she noticed Mr.Badwolf glaring at them, those big ears did wonders, even in his human form.

"So about that assignment!" Raven awkwardly blurted out.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm just saying! Ugh we got such a lousy choice! What exactly do you even say for this one? 'Don't climb down the beanstalk' that's hardly a passing grade!"

"I dunno about that… I think I have a few ideas." Raven had her mother's ambition, probably the only good thing she got from her.

"Alrighty then, you wanna be team villain then?"

Raven winced, that question hit really close to home. Raven had always-

"Raven I swear to Fairy Godmother, I know you have a villain complex but could we please just start? I'm getting impatient!"

"Ok ok fine! I'll be on… the giants side."

Once Duchess had finished groaning Raven's complete unwillingness to call herself a villain, they began. Raven suggested that the giant could grab the beanstalk and pull it out of the ground. Duchess then pointed out that Jack had gotten a head start, and could easily call for someone to catch him.

"He couldn't survive that fall!"

"Jack was almost at the bottom of the beanstalk when the giant started climbing! If they had enough time to chop down a giant beanstalk, they had enough time to catch Jack!"

"Still risky."

"As oppose to what? Dying? Take the chance!."

Raven thought about it.

"Ok, so what if the giant came down some other way? If the chicken and harp were stolen, it means that he had another way down!"

"Why would the giant take the beanstalk to begin with then? Raven you make absolutely no sense!"

"Ok but… um, oh! Maybe he was working with an accomplice! Someone else could have come up before."

"I… What?" Duchess honked as she laughed. Raven couldn't keep her laughter down either.

"No-no hold on!" Raven snicked "How did the guy that sold the beans even know they were magical? Accomplice that's how!"

This continued for another 15 minutes of nonsense. The two of them weren't evil, but they were ridiculously competitive. Ever since they became friends (though Duchess insisted they were only acquaintances) they got to understand each other a lot better. Speaking of which…

"So how's Lizzie doing?" Raven asked with a sly smile, causing Duchess to squawk in surprise.

"Raven. No. Focus on the assignment!"

"She looked veeeerry worried about you! And she's been tending to your wounds the entire da-"

"Raven please!" Suddenly serious Duchess glanced down at her feet. "I spent all of my childhood and almost all of my teen years pining after someone who was in love with someone else, I don't want to do it again with someone else." She almost looked like she would cry, but she wiped away her tears and sat up.

Guess I don't know her as much as I thought. Raven scolded herself.

"Duchess I-"

"APPLE WHITE! IS THIS YOUR WORK?" The sound of Mr.Badwolf's roar shook the floor.

For the first time since class started, Apple had real emotion in her face. She nodded.

Mr.Badwolf let out a bellowing laugh so loud that Ramona and Cerise had to cover their ears. As he laughed he slowly transformed into his wolf form.

"THIS IS FANTASTIC! DISGUISE YOURSELF AS THE OLD CRONE AND THEN DISGUISE YOURSELF AS SOMEONE ELSE TO GAIN THEIR TRUST? THEN YOU EVEN WENT AS FAR AS TO SUGGEST CURING SNOW WHITE WITH AN UGLINESS SPELL TO WARD AWAY PRINCES?"

Noticing Cerise and Ramona's discomfort he shifted back into a human.

"Ahem, as I was saying," he cleared his throat and went back to look at the paper once more. "This is genius work! You easily win top marks! Unless of course, Lizzie has a rebuttal?"

Lizzie nervously shook her head.

"But sir!" Apple stammered, "I was on the heroes team. I only suggested that because Lizzie seemed lost!"

Mr. Badwolf shook his head

"Apple my dear! You are in General Villainy, if you want something you need to take it! Don't limit yourself to what you know, because you clearly have a talent." He looked over the other papers and stopped at one.

"I wish some of your classmates would take this as seriously as you are." He glanced a look at Raven and Duchess.

Faybelle's mouth was agape.

"But she was trying to be a hero! That's the opposite of what you asked!"

"I asked one person to be on each side! Apple succeeded without trying to win, she hasn't even reached her full potentially yet! Her wit will lend itself to her destiny quite well!"

The class bell rang and everyone handed in their assignments and received their homework.

Faybelle muttered something under her breath and flew away in a huff. Apple, who was close enough to hear her, looked ready to cry. She grabbed all of her bag and ran out of class.

"Raven!"

Everyone ran towards her. All speaking over each other. Cedar made her way to the front and looked up at her.

"Raven, was Apple forced to take this class? Are they making you leave this class? I CAN'T TAKE THIS CLASS WITHOUT YOU RAVEN!" Cedar was exhausted from holding back her truth-bombs that she couldn't control herself.

Cerise and Ramona pulled Raven aside.

"I'm really sorry about our dad!"

"Yeah, he really needs to learn to read a room."

More people came closer but they were interrupted by their teacher.

"I BELIVE I HEARD THE BELL! GET TO CLASS."

Raven turned to everyone.

"I'll talk to her guys, I promise."

And with that, she took off.
