Post-Canon
Donna arrives home, with bags of food and a new woolly hat with bear eyes and bear ears, on her head.
Harvey giggles tenderly when he sees her. "What did you buy?"
"I bought you those sugar-filled cereals that you like." She replies by leaving the bags on the counter and then takes off her coat.
"I appreciate it, but I'm not talking about it." He says walking towards her and pointing at her head with his index finger.
"I don't accept comments about this."
"So, I can't say anything?" He asks, emptying one of the bags on the counter.
"Nothing." She responds, emptying another bag.
"Okay."
"Do you know what I used to enjoy coming home? Have a husband who approaches to kiss me, instead of making fun of me." She complains.
Harvey chuckles and approaches her. "You're not going to attack me, right?" He frowns his nose, looking at her hat.
"Harvey!" She complains again and hits his arm faintly with her fist.
He takes her by the waist, bringing her closer to him. "Hello." He murmurs to her and kisses her lips.
"Better." She responds and puts her hands in his arms. "I don't want to become one of those couples who are miles away all the time. We've been there for a long time."
"We won't be, I promise." He says and kisses her again. "I just feel watched."
Donna giggles. "I knew you were going to make fun of me."
"It 's funny."
"Well, I knew you weren't going to think it was sexy either."
Harvey frowns on his nose again. "No, but it's sweet."
"Do you really think so?"
"Yes, and a little ridiculous too."
Donna giggles again and Harvey takes off her hat. "My hair, Harvey!" She complains.
"Uhu... I'm going to be scared to see you disheveled. Do you know that we sleep on the same bed every night?"
"Anyway, I want my hat!"
"Yes? Do you want it?" He starts walking backward, hiding the hat on his back.
"Harvey!" She snorts, following him. "Give me my hat!" She tries to reach him, but Harvey walks further away. "You look like a kid!"
"And you with this hat?" He laughs.
"Give it to me." She extends her hand.
But, Harvey doesn't give it to her, takes a quick step until he stays behind her and puts her hat on, covering up to her eyes.
"You're so dumb!" She says and raises her hat a little, walks away from Harvey. He catches up with her, hugs her by the back, and kisses her on the cheek.
"And you are so pretty, even when you get angry, and even with this silly hat." He giggles in her ear.
She frowns. "Don't try to fix it now."
Donna wants to walk away, but Harvey prevents her, pulls his phone out of his pocket, and points at them with the front camera.
"Smile." He tells her, Donna smiles and Harvey kisses her on the cheek, and in that position, he takes the photo. "Put your hat down again."
"Really?"
"Really."
Donna snorts, but she does and Harvey takes a picture like the first one, but now Donna has the hat covering her eyes. When she hears the sound of the camera, she lets go of him and takes off her hat, adjusts her hair, and puts it on Harvey's head.
"You're so sweet," She tells him, squeezing his cheeks and teasing him.
"I swear I knew this was going to turn against me."
"I want another picture." She says with a puppy face.
"Donna, no."
"Please." She shakes her eyelashes.
"I have no way not to, do I?"
She giggles. "No, you don't."
Donna of course wins the argument, and they don't just take one photo. They take several.
Donna's favorite is one where she's up on his back, Harvey wears the hat and automatic camera shooting takes a picture of them laughing, trying to find a position for the photo. The camera surprised them, and she always thinks natural photos are the best.
In fact, it's her phone's wallpaper. Harvey hates that everyone who can see her phone sees him wearing that ridiculous hat.
Or this is what he always says.
The truth is, he still can't believe she's his wife and she's so proud that puts them as her wallpaper.
A few weeks later, they go out for a walk, winter is coming up and Donna decides to wear that hat because she hasn't worn another one since she bought it.
They go hand in hand, walking without haste. She loves to feel the warmth of his hand in her hand and the noise of the dried leaves on her feet. Donna drops her head for a moment on Harvey's shoulder and feels a kiss on her hat. She raises her head a little and looks at him.
"What?" She asks by rubbing her thumb in his hand.
"Nothing." He smiles at her. "Do I need a reason to kiss you?"
"No, never."
"Good." He responds, making her stop, and takes her by the waist to kiss her, then takes her hand again and they continue to walk.
Yes, he's proud to take his wife's hand in public, even when she wears that dumb hat.
In case someone doubts yet, Donna and Harvey being two idiots in love who bother each other all the time is my favorite headcanon. I hope you like it too!
