Post-Canon
They have been setting up their new home in Seattle for several days. All they did was unpack, sort, accommodate, add decorations, decide the place of their new furniture... And have sex everywhere, because Harvey insists that all the places should be used for the first time, and it's not that Donna refuses to do so.
But, Harvey also has something else in mind since they decided what their new home would be, and he thinks it's time to do it.
"Donna... Can you help me with something?" Harvey asks, peeking into the bedroom where she is tidying up her drawers.
"Of course." She responds with a smile and walks towards him. "What do you need?"
Harvey takes her by the hand and walks with her to their new living room without saying anything.
"I want to hang my mom's painting." He says, with a knot in his throat. "And I want to know if it would bother you to do it here." He scratches his neck, somewhat nervous.
Donna smiles tenderly at him and rests her chin on his shoulder, taking his biceps between her hands and stroking him with her thumbs. "I'd love to hang it here." She whispers in his ear.
Harvey surrounds her with his arm and she hugs him by his waist. "Seriously?" He turns his head and their noses rub softly.
"Yes, seriously," She murmurs on his lips.
Harvey smiles at her and gives her a short kiss on her lips. "Thank you."
"You don't have to thank me, we're making our home. Our." She emphasizes. "And I know how important that painting is to you, Harvey." She pauses. "And that's why I did what I did so you could have it again." She tells him by stroking his back with her palm.
Harvey turns his body between her arms and hugs her by her shoulders. Donna smirks feeling his body against hers and rests her cheek on his shoulder, with her nose stroking his neck.
"I never thanked you enough for that," Harvey whispers.
"You don't need to do it. Your expression when you saw it was a gift to me too." She murmurs and gives him a sweet kiss on his neck.
"I love you." He mutters with his lips against her forehead. "So much."
Donna grins and he feels her warm breath on his skin. He takes a deep breath and his body relaxes even more against his wife's body. "I love you too, Harvey." She responds by whispering against his neck, raises her head, and crushes her lips against his. "Where do you want to hang it?" She asks and curls up against him, crouching down a bit and resting her cheek against his chest, her head under his chin.
"On this wall." He says by raising one of his arms and pointing to a wall.
"Yes, it will look great there." And when she finishes saying it, she wants to separate from him to start to do it.
"Stay here a little longer, please." He tells her, hugging her tightly.
"I'm here." She responds sweetly and hugs him tightly too.
Donna feels Harvey's chin leaning against her head and hears him sobbing. She simply supports him, rubbing his back with her palm in circles and letting him cling to her.
"Your mom would be so proud of us," Donna mutters. "That you choose to hang her painting here... And that you have given me the ring."
"She was so happy when she heard about us." He pauses. "She already knew about you from Marcus and told me she was your fan too." Donna giggles sweetly. "And I told her that you are the one." He kisses her softly on her forehead. "And it makes me very happy that you have this ring."
"It makes me happy to wear it, Harvey." She lifts her head so she can look at him and raises her hands to his cheeks, caressing him with her thumbs. "Ready?" He nods and gives her a kiss.
Harvey goes to look for a wooden staircase that they have there, for all the things they have been hanging these days, and brings it closer to the wall where he wants to hang the painting. He climbs up and Donna hands him the tools that he needs until Harvey puts the screw on the wall.
Harvey gets off the stairs and puts it aside, Donna takes the painting that was on the couch and reaches it to him.
For a few seconds, they hold the painting with both hands and smile with complicity and emotion. Donna nods, staring at him, telling him with her gaze that she is here with him, and when she reads the answer in his eyes releases the painting.
Harvey looks at the painting for a few more seconds, feeling his heart speeding up, and walks the steps that separate him from the wall, adjusts the painting with his hands trembling, and walks backward, looking at it.
Donna, who is further back, approaches and accommodates it, as she sees it a little crooked. She also walks backward, and Harvey slows her down, hugging her from the back, and rests her chin on his shoulder. Donna puts her hands on his arms and sighs, dropping her head against his shoulder.
"Thank you, Donna," Harvey whispers and gives her a kiss on the cheek while allowing himself to drop a tear.
"Always, Harvey." She kisses his cheek too and they stay there, staring at the painting for a few minutes.
