Halloween Special - Chapter 2: Memories of a celebration.
Legosi and Jack came running when they witnessed Kai and Kibi being attacked by another creature, one that they haven't seen yet.
"Kai! Kibi!" Legosi yelled
"Legosi?!" Kibi asked in surprise.
Knowing what to do, the two canines immediately took out their phones and quickly started taking pictures. The light from the camera flashes caught the creature's attention causing it to turn to the canines. At that moment Legosi snapped a picture of its face, making the attacker cry out in pain before disappearing.
"Are you two alright?" Legosi asked as he and his mate ran over to the frightened pair.
"We came running as soon as we heard Kai scream," Jack added.
"We're fine now thanks to you guys," Kibi said in relief.
"Yea, we're ok, but for the record I wasn't screaming," Kai retaliated. "I was roaring, you know, to scare that thing away."
The other three laughed. Even in a situation like this Kai would always be Kai.
"That's right hun, you're my hero," Kibi stated cheerfully as he kissed his boyfriend on the cheek.
Legosi patted both of them on the head, "I'm just glad you're both safe. Do you guys know what that thing was?"
"It definitely didn't look like any animal I know of," Jack said as he grabbed his mate's hand. "Do you guys know what's going on?"
The two shook their heads. They were just as confused as the canines were.
"We both just woke up here," Kibi explained. "Kai found me when I went out looking for help."
"I actually woke up a little while ago when I felt a cool breeze on my face," Kai added. "I found myself inside some sort of ballroom when I heard Kibi yelling. Next thing we know we were getting chased by that thing and you guys show up to scare it away."
Jack let out a sigh, "I was really hoping you guys would know something about what's going on and that all this was just a prank or something."
"Sorry Jack, if it's a prank then we're victims too," the anteater said sadly.
"Well my money says it's Bill who's doing this," Kai said angrily. "That damn overgrown house cat loves getting a rise out of people."
"I don't think it's him," Legosi said nervously as he tapped his fingers together. "Bill might like to get people's goats but he wouldn't do something this messed up."
"That's true, plus he doesn't exactly have the brain power for it," the mongoose joked.
Jack shook his head, "Anyway guys, neither me nor Legosi can remember anything about how we got here or what we were doing before all this started. What about you two? Do you remember anything at all? If you guys can remember anything, it might give us a clue as to how we can get out of this place."
"I don't remember how we got here, but I do remember a little about what we were doing before we woke up," Kibi explained.
"Me too," Kai added.
"Great, tell us," the wolf said with relief.
The two smaller animals nodded and began their story.
It was a few days before Halloween and the entire school was abuzz. Many students were talking about the costumes they either bought or worked on, while others were talking about the Halloween party.
Bill, Jack, Kai, Kibi and Legosi were walking to the Drama club room to work on their costumes.
"I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS!" Bill yelled out. "Our costumes are freaken awesome and we're gonna spend the whole night dancing and eating tons of sweets until we barf. Maybe we can even scare some people."
Legosi laughed. "Bill, if you were a canine your tail would be wagging with more vigor than mine and Jack's combined."
Bill smiled a big toothy smile, "Well duh, Halloween is one of the biggest events of the year and between the six of us, we are gonna redefine the phrase 'Party Animals.'"
Everyone laughed at the tiger's excitement as they continued to the club room.
Once they had arrived, Pina, who was already there, saw them come in and spoke.
"So you guys are almost ready with your costumes?" he asked.
"I am," Kibi responded, "I'm gonna go as Blackbeard the pirate."
"I'm gonna go as Captain Francis Drake, one of the most famous privateers ever," Kai answered.
Jack put his hands on his hips, moved his head up and smiled, trying his best to pose as a castle lord. "I'm gonna go Count Dracula, but like, a version of him where he is handsome, gentlemanly, and wicked instead of being one of those 'I want to suck your blood' kind of vampires."
"Don't you have to be handsome yourself for that to work?" Bill mocked.
"HEY!" Jack called.
Legosi snaked his arms around Jack from behind and spoke.
"Don't listen to him babe, you're handsome enough to make anything work," The wolf said as he planted a small kiss on his mate's cheek.
Jack blushed as he rubbed his head against Legosi's, "Thanks hun!"
The others giggled at the sight of their affection.
"What about you mister 'Kiss in Public', what are you going as?" Pina questioned.
The wolf put a hand behind his head, "Well, everyone really liked the costume I wore when I was the 'Ruler of the Underworld' for the play, so I'm remaking it for the party."
Pina's eyes lit up. "Ooooh, does that mean we're gonna see your bare chest, broad shoulders, and muscular arms? With the only thing covering them being a few bandage wrappings that make them look even bigger and more amazing?"
Pina then winked at the wolf before giving a flirtatious smile. "If I didn't know better, I'd say this was an attempt to steal me away from my boyfriend."
"N-No! Nothing like that! I'm remaking the costume so it looks like a nice looking suit, jacket, and cape. You know, like the costume that famous outlaw from that movie you showed us wears. What was his name…Zorro? Of course, instead of all black it's gonna have the same color theme as the 'Ruler of the Underworld,'" the wolf explained.
Everyone let out a small sigh of disappointment.
"That's too bad, I was kind of looking forward to showing you off to the entire school. I wanted to see them looking at you and admiring how regal you look. Maybe even make them jealous that you were all mine," the labrador said with a wink.
"J-JACK!" the wolf yelled in surprise.
Kai let out a loud laugh.
"Come on man, you gotta admit that you would definitely turn a lot more heads if you made the costume as intended! You've really bulked up ever since you started training with that panda and if you came to the party with that same getup you had on stage with this new healthy body of yours, even I would start drooling," Kai said before turning towards Kibi.
The mongoose then turned the anteater's head and gave him a kiss on the forehead. "Even though I already have the best mate I could ever ask for."
"Aww shucks Kai, you're embarrassing me!" Kibi said, blushing with embarrassment as well as happiness.
Pina looked at Bill, "Well?"
"Well what?" Bill asked.
Pina rolled his eyes, "Everyone else gets a kiss and I don't get one?"
"Oh, sorry hun," Bill planted his own kiss on his mate.
"God, you really are dumb sometimes," the dall sheep answered.
"What do you mean 'sometimes'?" Kai remarked.
"Hey!" Bill responded.
The gang laughed. It wasn't even the day of the part and yet they were already having so much fun.
"Anyway, going back to your costume Legosi. I really do think you should stick more to the one you wore on stage," said Jack.
"I don't know, I feel like it wouldn't be appropriate," the wolf exclaimed in embarrassment.
"Don't worry Legosi, I'm sure it will be alright," Kibi reassured the wolf. "Even Louis said that the costume was perfect for you."
"Speaking of Louis, what ever happened to him? Kai asked, "No one's seen him in months and now that I think about it, I don't think anyone has even bothered to look for him."
"What about you dude?" he asked as he turned to Legosi "You've gotten pretty tight with him before he upped and vanished. Any ideas as to where he might be?"
Legosi looked to the side, "I don't know. We did become friends, but after what happened with Jack, I saw him less and less until I stopped seeing him altogether."
The wolf looked down, his ears folding back and his tail drooping, "I've been really worried about him so I asked Haru if she knew anything, but she doesn't know either. She sounded heartbroken when I brought it up."
"That's…a little concerning," Jack replied.
"Hey, I say don't worry about it. I'm sure Louis is fine," Bill said as he shrugged his shoulders, trying his best to reassure them. "I'm sure 'rich boy' is just busy with his old man's company or something."
"I hope that's all it is," Kibi said with a concerned voice.
The guys spent the rest of the day working on their costumes. Legosi went with his friends' advice and made his costume look like it did on the night of the play, while adding a few of his own personal touches. The wolf also took time to help his mate create the perfect vampire costume.
Kai and Kibi worked together to create their own outfits. Kai worked on the fabric while Kibi used some of his books to create accurate and authentic pirate and privateer clothing.
Bill and Pina also tried to make their costumes as best they could. However, because they were part of the actor's team they had very little experience and needed help from the others.
It was revealed that Bill was going as Eliot Ness, the agent who was responsible for capturing Al Capone. Obviously, Kai could not help but make a joke about.
Pina would be the mafia boss himself. Everyone agreed that the dall sheep fit the role perfectly with how much trouble he causes.
After a few hours of working, the gang saw that the sun was setting. They were disappointed that they needed to stop soon, but were happy the costumes were coming along nicely.
Happy with what they were able to get done, the six animals retired from the club room and started making their way back to their dorm rooms. As they made their way back to their homes, they saw two students handing out flyers.
One was a lemur who acted really friendly to everyone, even to the students who turned him down. The other one however, was unidentifiable since he was covered in a black cloak and hood.
"What's going on there?" Jack asked.
"Don't know," Kibi answered.
"Why don't we check it out," Bill smiled.
"It could be some sort of Halloween event that they're doing for the party," Legosi explained.
"Wonder what it could be," Pina replied.
The six animals decided to check it out and walked over to the pair.
"Hey there," Kai called.
The Lemur's ears perked up and as he turned to face them the recollection began to fade from their memory.
"And that's the last thing we remember," Kai answered. "We were saying hi to that lemur guy and then, nothing!"
"I'm trying to remember what happened after we went over to those guys but I can't," Kibi explained.
Jack's ears jumped up as he realized something important, "Guys, Bill and Pina were with us when we met those two right?"
"That's what I remember," Kai responded.
"Then what if they're here with us? Still lost or unconscious," the labrador said with concern
Legosi's eyes widened as looked at mate. "We need to find them before those things do!"
The other three nodded in agreement and ran deeper into their prison. If Bill and Pina were there, then it was only a matter of time before they were attacked as well.
