Well...this year, Legacy Day has really taken a turn.
Raven actually REJECTED her destiny! She REFUSED to sign!
After she refused to sign, everyone booed at her so bad, she snapped and froze everyone with her magic! Good thing Amber, Prudence, Charlotte and I were still in the school. We ran out and saw Raven and Maddie standing proud on the terrace...we also saw Apple running away in tears. We decided to leave Apple alone so she can have a good cry.
We walked up to Raven and got the whole scoop. Understandably, Amber, Prudence and Charlotte were shocked. But me, I was relieved. But I saw doubt starting to grow on Raven's face. I guess seeing the frozen angered faces of the Royals and a sobbing Apple hit her pretty hard. So, I didn't blame her.
But I assured Raven that what she did was a good thing. Because even when facing the terrifying consequence of 'going POOF!' and disappearing forever like Headmaster Grimm said, Raven still refused to be evil and stuck to her beliefs! That was the most selfless thing ever after! It proves that Raven is nothing like her mom. A true Evil Queen would be too much of a narcissist to risk being poofed away. The Evil Queen is all about selfishness and vanity. Everything Raven is not. She just doesn't have any evil in her. And that's good.
Once I told her all that, Raven's doubt was gone and she was one hundred percent better! We gave each other a big bear hug and unfortunately, Raven had to unfreeze everyone. But before she did, we all made a promise to be there for each other no matter what. Because things were going to get wild around here from now on.
Raven unfroze everyone.
We are now entering war. Please keep your hands and elbows inside the car.
It was the day after Legacy Day. Greenly, Amber, Ian and Bentley were off to the Castleteria for lunch.
"I still can't believe Raven refused to sign!" said Amber.
"I believe it." said Ian. "What I can't believe is that Raven didn't beat Headmaster Grimm senseless with the Storybook of Legends when she didn't disappear." He smiled and gave a shrug. "At least this means I don't have put myself at risk by becoming lunch meat to a bloodthirsty wolf."
"Or destroy half an area with my trumpet playing." said Bentley. "Even though it was a victimless crime."
"Well, just keep in mind that things are going to be really rocky from here on out, you guys." Greenly warned. "If you think high school is bad now, it's going to be bad times ten. We need to be strong no matter what."
Just as they arrived at the Castleteria, they froze. The Royals and the Rebels were having an all-out food fight. Everyone splattered with food, drink, and who knows what else. Even Daring was a complete mess and he was so into the fight, that he didn't care at all! He still kept throwing mashed potatoes at Hunter Huntsman, who dodged and flung a half-eaten pudding cup that landed flat on Blondie's face. Duchess Swan was about to throw a pizza slice at Cedar, but she slipped on some grape juice and landed flat on her tail feathers, giving Cerise Hood the perfect opening. She skillfully pummeled the ballerina with a barrage of every kind of food she could grab. Ian noticed Cerise removing a slice of bologna from a sandwich and muching it down in a second before she threw the rest of the sandwich at Duchess.
"Man! That Cerise is a real terror! Who knew?" Amber noted. "I think she could take on any kind of wolf!"
"Come to think of it, she doesn't seem bothered whenever Mr. Badwolf is around." said Bentley.
Ian said nothing. He knew well enough to know that Cerise had no reason to fear Mr. Badwolf or any kind of wolf for that matter.
Greenly looked to the left and was surprised to see Raoul Sapphire leaning against the wall and calmly watching the food fight. "Raoul?"
Raoul turned to Greenly. "Hey." he replied.
"What are you doing here?" asked Greenly.
"Just watching the carnage unfold." He turned his attention back to the food fight, then quickly turned to face Greenly. "You want to watch?"
Greenly smiled. "Sure." She stood beside Raoul and leaned against the wall to watch the free entertainment. Amber, Ian, and Bentley were surprised to see that that Raoul wasn't trying to destroy Greenly. So, they decided to lower their guard and join the two.
"Just stick with me and keep watching. There's nothing you can do for these people now." Raoul advised. He reached into his backpack and pulled out an unopened bag of potato chips. He opened the bag and offered them to Greenly. "Want some?"
"Thanks." Greenly gladly took some chips.
After the food fight and detention was served for all the participants, it was time for Princessology. Most of the princesses were a mess. Their dresses stained and chunks of food stuck in their hair and tiaras. Well, except for Greenly who was clean as Apple's magic mirror. In class, Raven plucked a french fry ou of her hair before looking beside her and seeing Greenly perplexed about something.
"Are you okay?" Raven asked Greenly in soft voice. "Mrs. Her Majesty the White Queen will have a fit if she sees you daydreaming like that."
A ruler smacked against Raven's desk, making her jump. She looked up and saw their new Princessology teacher, the White Queen from Wonderland. Or as she liked to be called by her students, 'Mrs. Her Majesty the White Queen.
And she did not look happy. "Miss Queen, since you're in a chatty mood, perhaps you can explain to the class why you're even in this class?"
"Uh, because I'm a princess?" Raven answered, hoping she gave the right answer.
Mrs. Her Majesty the White Queen shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. Are you?" she said smugly. "Your mother is no longer with us and after your little Legacy Day stunt, you should have been stripped of your royal status." The teacher looked at Raven with ice in her glare. "So, why are you even here? You clearly don't belong here or anywhere else for that matter." she taunted.
Hearing that mocking voice in her tone made Raven's eyes flash with anger. She opened her mouth to speak,
"Actually," Greenly announced, standing up. "The Evil Queen maybe gone for good. But Raven's father, the Good King, is still alive and well." she implied, looking her teacher squarely in the eye. "Which technically, still makes Raven a princess. So, she has every right to be here and anywhere else she pleases." She gave a confident smile. "I figured since you're new to this world, Mrs. Her Majesty the White Queen, I just thought I'd point that out to you."
All the other princesses gasped in shock. Mrs. Her Majesty the White Queen frowned upon Greenly's protest. "Noted." The class was surprised by the teacher's calm demeanor, but they can still see the anger in her eyes. She walked away and continued teaching.
Raven looked at Greenly with surprised eyes as her classmate sat down. Greenly gave Raven a reassuring wink.
After Princessology was finished, Raven decided to thank Greenly right away. "Thanks for sticking up for me, Greenly. I don't see enough of that."
"No problem." said Greenly.
"So, why were you so spaced out in class earlier?" asked Raven.
"Well, y'know, this and that." Greeny replied. "Raven, do you ever get the feeling that...well, I mean, if you knew someone-" Greenly was cut off when she tripped over something large and thick. Thankfully, she backflipped and landed safely, saving her face from smashing to the floor.
"Nice!" Raven said, impressed.
Greenly turned and saw what tripped her. It was Holly's 70 foot long hair. "Oh, my Grimm! I'm so sorry, Greenly!" Holly tried scooping up as much of her hair as she could.
"Holly, you really need to start putting your hair up or we're gonna have to call you, 'Princess Trip Hazard.'" said Greenly.
"I'm sorry. I was so excited to tell Poppy the good news, I didn't have time to trim my hair!" Holly was bursting at the seams.
"What good news?" asked Raven.
"Well, since you didn't go poof like Headmaster Grimm said, I'm going to ask him if he can get my sister Poppy to enroll here!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Where did that come from?!" said Raven. "Why would you want your sister to enroll here?"
"Yeah, especially since this school has just been exposed as an institute of fear mongering propaganda." Greenly added.
"Greenly Pea!" a voice shouted. Apple White marched over to her fellow princesses.
"And that's my cue to leave." Raven said before dashing off.
Greenly frowned at Raven's retreat, but she shouldn't blame her. She turned her attention to Apple, who stood before Greenly with her hands firmly on her hips. "How dare you say such a thing about our school, Greenly?!"
Despite knowing that talking to Apple would be pointless, Greenly decided to give it a go anyway. "Apple, Headmaster Grimm lied to us about-"
"He only lied in order to prevent us from making a mistake!" Apple retorted quickly. "The mistake of denying our destinies! Greenly, without our destinies, none of us have purpose in our lives! And in the end, we really will all go poof! Raven may have made the biggest mistake of her life, but I can help her learn from her mistakes and she'll come to...her...senses..." A dark shadow and a menacing presence from behind made Apple seize her irate yammering. She slowly turned around and saw Raoul towering over her.
Raoul sneered with an unpleasant growl. Apple squeaked and took off quicker than Raven did. Holly repeated Apple's actions and ran away too. Raoul scoffed. "They scatter like cockroaches." He turned to Greenly. "You okay? Or was I too late and you've been completely brainwashed by Apple?"
Greenly smiled. She shook her head. "Nope, you came to my rescue just in time."
A moment of awkward silence.
"So, um...you want to hang out or something?" Raoul asked all of a sudden.
His question caused Greenly's cheeks to turn as red as her hair. "What?!"
Raoul scratched the back of his head. "Well, I mean, since Raven's decided to write her own story, I'm gonna follow the trend and write my own story too. I call it; 'Refusal to be a serial killer like my dad and start living like a normal teenager.' And I thought asking out a cute girl like you would be a good start."
Greenly felt a surge of emotions rushing through her body. She managed to keep herself from screaming with joy at the top of her lungs and give a calm answer. "O-Okay, great."
"So, um...what do girls like to do?" asked Raoul. "I'm not an expert on this kind of stuff."
"Well, maybe going out for pizza would be a good start?" Greenly suggested.
Raoul smiled. "Cool." He offered his hand.
And Greenly gladly took it.
