Tina and Ava are exploring the city, at one point they decided to sit down and eat something. As they sat on a bench outside a small fast food restaurant, Tina suddenly waved to someone. Ava turns to see a well-built man and a woman with a robotic hand. She knew them, not personally.
Ava sat down next to Tina so Axton and Gaige could sit across from them. Axton sat on the bench and Gaige on his lap, metal arm around his neck.
- Hey Tina. They said hello.
- Hey... She replied... Nice to see you too. This is Ava, my girlfriend. Ava said hello.
- How did you two meet? Gaige asked.
- In person shortly before the storming of the twins' cathedral. Then... It just sort of happened.
- And you? Ava asked.
- He was pulling me out of the container. Gaige said.
- She was already blue from the cold when I found her. The rest followed Claptrap to his shelter. Just something inspired me to check out this container.
- Destiny. Gaige murmured, they kiss him on the cheek.
Ava noticed that they were both discreetly hugging Gaige's belly.
- Oh... she thought.
- Let me ask you something... Axton said to Ava... Is it true that Maya took care of you?
- Yes.
- And you know how she reacted to the word "Bones"?
- What ? Ava asked confused.
The couple giggled
Few years ago
Maya was reading something when Axton and Gaige passed her.
- I told you that skags are better, in taste. Axton said.
- But Rakk have less fat... Gaige said... You think keeping that skinny is easy? His eyes flicked over her body, a little too slowly for chance.
- Rakk are just bones.
He hears the sound of joints snapping behind him, and he turns to see Maya staring blankly at him.
- Don't interrupt yourself. She said, go back to reading.
The two didn't know what had just happened.
- What was I talking about? he asked.
- That Rakk is all bones.
And again. Maya's neck made that irritating sound. Her head threw a full 90 degrees, playing Beethoven's fifth siphon.
- Maybe we'd better go somewhere else? Gaige suggested, looking a little pale.
Axton nodded, but before they could leave, a guy shouted from the wall, "BONES!"
Maya got up, but not normally, she got up because her thighs suddenly got so long that they lifted her out of her seat, she spread her arms out and they started to lengthen too, all her joints started making sounds that went to the tune of "Don't stop me now" and she she began to squeal like a pig herself. It was comically.
Maya fell back into the seat after a while and her limbs returned to their normal length. Everyone in the room, instead of looking in horror at this display, started laughing.
This infuriated Maya, she hates noise and being made fun of. She began to squeal, moan, convulse, her joints began to play again, this time it sounded like the first notes of the anthem of the Soviet Union. And she herself began to make sounds reminiscent of a murdered cat. Don't ask me how I know how a murdered cat meows.
Scream this woman became mercilessly loud, no one knew how, they could bet that one lung would not fit in that thin chest.
The guards rushed into the room, lured by the screams, and what they saw. Half the room laughs, the other half shouts "bones" hoarse, Maya does what appears to be staged mental torture.
They didn't know what was going on because they ran away.
- You're kidding, right? Ava asked.
- No... Tina said... I was there. Though I ran away when she got up and started stretching.
- Don't ask us why she reacted like that... Gaige said... It was a one time thing and she didn't remember anything about it anyway.
Axton glances at the watch and stands up, carefully lowering Gaige to her feet.
- We have to go. He said.
The two said goodbye and left.
- Did you notice? Ava asked
- What?
Ava points to the parents and children two benches away and then to the retreating couple.
- Oh... Tina said.
- What were your parents like? Ava asked
- Didn't I tell you?... Ava tensed that she'd revealed her memory change... Maybe not. As far as I know, they're alive, but if some people think I'm crazy, I don't know how to describe them.
- What they were doing?
Tina sighed.
- What they didn't do is a good question. They attacked the train, terrorizing the whole car with weapons, demanding sandwiches with pills... Ava looks confused... They are not only crazy, but also addicted to drugs. Especially the pain ones. They blew up the airport, albeit a bit by accident. At least that's what they said. Or doing something in the church. Don't ask what, I don't know, all I know is that there was no mass for a year until some exorcism was performed.
- Mine were quite normal. Ava said.
Suddenly, Ava's communicator rang.
- Yes? she asked
- Hey Ava... Started Moze... Atlas has found a new vault on the planet. Are you going with us.
- We go?... Ava asked, Tina nodded... We're on our way.
