Our roles were chosen so it was time to work together with my fellows on the staging team to prepare for the big show.
"Right, sure! Cool idea!" Said Hero during one of our brainstorming sessions. "Cool idea! Let's hear what the dance squad has to say!"
"Hang on. I don't think we've got enough people on hand for that," said Kirishima.
We came up with a plan for having Midoriya and Aoyama work together to turn Aoyama into a disco ball as Ashido had suggested.
And so on and so forth as we attempted to come up with the best way to help everyone relax.
During a break, I joined up with Midoriya and several others to relax. Soon enough we found ourselves playing a rather odd game, one that I had never heard of before…they called it the newlywed game, but it seemed to have little to do with marriage…
"All right, the clue for the next round is 'white.'"
"Aoyama's probably thinking…'rice'!"
"Wrong. It is 'my skin, that glistens like freshly fallen snow."
"Glistening white skin, Aoyama? Only you could come up with an answer like that!" Said Midoriya.
"Midoriya, if you truly thought my answer would be 'rice', you were sorely mistaken. Besides which, pain is my carbohydrate of choice," replied Aoyama.
Ojiro smiled. "MIdoriya hasn't been able to guess a single one of your answers yet."
"How about a more specific, personal topic?" Suggested Iida. "For instance, our favorite heroes?" Everyone snorted and said "Too easy" as Midoriya blurted out "All might!"
"If the goal is to get Midoriya and Aoyama in sync, shouldn't they just rehearse?" I asked.
"BE sure to spin my gorgeous self all about so that my sparkles can fill the entire hall!" Said Aoyama.
"Sure, I'll do my best!"
"I too have been working on my dance steps!" Said Iida. "Observe, everyone!"
Iida was to do 'The Robot', a dance that required stiff movements and unbounded joints. Perfect for him.
"Wow, those are some not-too-smooth moves, Iida! Good Going!" Said Midoriya.
"Thank you! But I still need to brush up on my routine before the main event," said Iida.
"Hey, why don't you check out the support course's robots for reference?" Offered Ojiro. "You're already kind of friends with Mei Hatsume from the sports festival, right?"
"No thank you! Unnecessary! I shall find the robot within me without that sort of external aid!" Iida shot back, looking much as though memories of Hatsume were not that pleasant.
"They call it a sports festival, but its really just a battle showcase," mused Midoriya.
"The obstacle race, the cavalry battle, and then the orthodox tournament…Ah, come to think of it, everyone here made it into the final sixteen, yes?"
Ojiro grimaced. "Yeah, though I decided to drop out."
"Oh, right. Because of Shinso," added Midoriya.
"Whereas I decided to move on all the same," said Aoyama with a wink.
"And then, even though I tried to warn you, Midoriya, you let him get you right at the start of your match with that brainwashing of his," said Ojiro.
"Yeah, I couldn't help myself," said Midoriya. "I guess I just panicked since well, the brainwashing was so powerful and intense. And you don't see mind-control quirks too often you know? Imagine being able to stop villains in their tracks, just like that. But it'd also be super useful for saving people! No matter who you are it takes time to stop panicking and think clearly, especially when you're in danger and you gotta act fast, so imagine how handy brainwashing would be for managing a distressed crowd and guiding them to safety! Yeah, I think it's an amazing quirk!"
"Midoriya vs Todoroki was a battle for the ages, though," said Ojiro.
"Yeah, I really gave it all I had but still came up short!" Said Midoriya with a hint of frustration.
My mind wandered back to that battle…
"I might have technically won, but that's not how it felt. Next time, I'm winning for real." This was as clear to me as to start that the sky was in fact blue, but Midoriya nonetheless looked shocked.
"Hmph, I wouldn't be so sure! The next victory's gonna be mind." His fists were clenched.
Iida pumped his own fist into the air.
"You two had better not count me out just yet!"
"Don't forget the rest of us, okay?" Said Ojiro. I'm pretty confident in a one-on-one fight."
"And I have been busy perfecting my new moves!" Said Aoyama. "Prepare to be blinded by their brilliance!"
And so on and so forth, we all kept the challenge going.
