I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about it before. Sometimes in my worst moments, those moments when he'd hit me or mom, there was an awful part of me that actually wished for it. The heroic part of me - that part that couldn't stand to see anyone hurt - would be horrified, but whenever I thought of what had happened to Toya, or mom in that asylum, or the pain he'd caused us all, a part of me actually wished it would happen and I couldn't stop that.

But that was different from the idea that it could actually, really happen. Different thing, seeing him there on screen, perhaps - actually -

He isn't he can't be c'mon...

"THE SCENE HERE IS SADLY REMINISCENT OF THE NIGHTMARE THREE MONTHS AGO..."

Please not like Kamino please don't let it be that I can't - not -

"LOOK!" someone shouted. The noise came to me through a fog.

His hands were twitching. He was waking up. And propelling himself upward using his own flames to fight the Noomu that had started all of this.

It seized him and began whipping him through buildings like a ragdoll. My old man being bodyslammed through a building.

The city was rioting. People running for their lives, panicking, rushing to esape as the nomu monster - like the League of villains Nomus, but black, more terrible, more terrifying than ever before...smashed sides of buildings, tops of them, destroying everything in its path while people ran screaming, seemingly unable to calm down.

"Without a symbol..."

The reporters had caught up to a woman in the crowd.

"This is society without a symbol of peace!"

"They're panicking! How terrible!" said Kaminari.

"Todoroki..." whispered Yaoyorozu, staring at me, her eyes wide with panic.

"We just tuned in and saw...Endeavor..." said Midoriya, looking at me as if panicking. Even Bakugou was staring at me...they all were.

"Todoroki!" said sensei, entering the room. "You already saw?"

"You gotta be kidding me..." I whispered.

The world can't be falling apart - not like this -

"STOP SAYING THAT CRAP ALREADY!" came a child's voice from the screen. "OPEN YOUR EYES BEFORE SPOUTING OFF ON TV. ESPECIALLY AT A TIME LIKE THIS! LOOK! THOSE FLAMES'RE STILL RISING UP! YOU SEE EM RIGHT? ENDEAVOR'S STILL ALIVE AND FIGHTING!. SO DON'T GIVE UP JUST UZ THE OTHER GUY'S GONE! THERE'S STILL A DUDE OUT THERE RISKING IT ALL FOR US! CAN'TCHA SEE!?"

Still risking it all...for us?

"WE COME TO YOU AGAIN FROM UP IN THE SKY! AH! THERE'S THE JET-BLACK VILLAIN! OH! IT'S HEADING TOWARDS THE EVACUEEES! AAH, BUT IN HOT PURSUIT IS - YES - IT'S ENDEAVOR!"

A flaming bright light, almost sun bright, was chasing the Nomu.

My old man.

And behind it, a small flash - Hawks, with a feather - and with his own feathers zooming in behind Endeavor to create extra fire power, forming wings - not unlike a phoenix bird's.

The flames went hotter - more - more -

The old man stuck his fist into the Nomu's mouth and pushed it up into the sky...

"Look up there! Endeavor, he's still fighting!" gasped a woman in the crowd.

"Father..." I murmured.

I want to become a hero you can be proud of too.

"Writhing and torn up but still fighting back!"

"I'M WATCHING YOU!" I screamed at the screen.

He'd pushed the creature as high as he could go.

And blasted it to pieces with a flaming blast as bright as the sun, cameras were blinded, melting...

He was falling from the sky towards the ground

Fire was blocking our view. The Nomu had hit the ground too...

Come on old man...

The flames cleared.

And there he stood, with his one good arm punched into the sky, a fist. Like All Might had done in Kamino.

My knees gave up. I fell to the ground and put my hands together. I was almost praying, in real honest relief.

Midoriya, and the rest of my classmates, had rushed to my side.

Thank you...father.

"IT'S ENDEAVOR! HE'S BACK UP! HE'S DOING THAT POSE, IN VICTORY - NO - TO SIGNAL - HIS START!"
