Izuku's POV
A man in white stood in front of him his cape flapping. Izuku didnt step back in fear or move to attack him. Everyone in Japan knew this figure. Phantom Thief Kaito Kid. What the hell was he doing here?
Kid laughed heartily, "Hello heroes and detectives. It seems you are chasing a set of young thieves. Shouldn't you be focused on more dangerous adult criminals like myself or Thief Lord? You still haven't come close to catching us after all."
Tsukauchi growled, "Kid! You are supposed to be in France with Thief Lord. What are you doing back in Japan?"
Phantom Thief Kaito Kid was one of the most well-known Phantom Thieves in the world. He normally worked alone but rumor had it he was working with Thief Lord in France. So the detective's reaction made a lot of sense.
Kid replied with a hand in his pants pocket having a loose posture, "I go where I am needed whether that is here or there. I'm glad I did. To find something so interesting."
Interesting? That wasn't how he was usually described. Then again Kid wasnt one of his usual people. He was a Phantom Thief.
When the thief turned to look at him and his eyes fell upon his golden falcon pin. Eyes widened with surprise the first real emotion Izuku has seen.
Kid said with an interested look, "Well I'll be damned. Do you know what that pin means, King?"
Izuku's eyes narrowed in suspicion as he said, "All I know is that it belonged to my father. I never knew him."
The man's poker face was dropped completely. Shock ran across the heroes and police as well. It was the first time he let any information on himself be known. That little tidbit wasnt much though.
Kid put an arm around Izuku who tried to get away only to be wrapped in the cape. Swearing violently he tried to get away even as the arm kept him close. On the other side of the man, he could hear Alec swearing just as violently. Neither of them liked being touching by adults. Nothing good came out of it.
Then suddenly the ground lifted from their feet and they were lifted into the air. Izuku couldn't see where they were going. Just the streets below but he could hear the aggravated shouts from the heroes and police. It took several moments and a hiss from Kid as Alec bit him trying to get him to let them go.
They were close to the main bridge when Kid finally dropped them onto a roof. Both he and Alec rolled immediately to their feet. Smoothly the thief landed on the rooftop beside them. His hang glider folding up once more.
Izuku's eyes narrowed. That shouldn't have been possible for him to take off with them in a hang glider. There wasn't enough space or even a running start to try to take off. Holding two people who were struggling it just should not have worked. So how had they gotten to this point?
Alec snarled, "What the hell is your problem, Kaito Kid? We are not just some jewels that you can steal. We are people!"
Kid ignored Alec as he turned to Izuku. He asked, "When did you get that pin?"
"I've had it for as long as I can remember," he shrugged. Then his eyes turned cold as he asked, "Why would you help us? You know nothing about us. So why?"
Kid contemplated his words for a moment before he said, "Even being on the move as much as I have been I heard about you. Lost Children a group of kids who takes in the abused and mistreated. You steal but not out of pleasure but out of necessity. You do whatever is necessary to protect yourselves. Even when you face against heroes and police you do minimal damage to them. I heard rumors that the police might have a trap ready to be sprung upon you. So I watched until I was sure you needed my help."
"What do you want?"
Alec was being unusually aggressive this evening. Not that he blamed the other. Adults were particularly unkind to him because of his quirk. When he was younger he had a hard time controlling it. They beat him in order to try to teach him control. All it did was make him mistrustful and angry. The anger had faded somewhat but it still came out every now and then.
Kid sighed with an honest look when he glanced at Izuku, "I was looking for someone to pass along the skills of a magician. I was taught as a young child by my father and wish to pass it onto someone new. Someone who would be able to appreciate the art."
Izuku questioned his mouth becoming as dry as the Sahara, "Me?"
"The King of Thieves, yes," he said, "If you wish. Do not make the decision tonight. Consider my words and if you decide to come here. This card will allow you not only through the door but a meeting with me."
A card with Kaito Kid's trademarked card. It held a bar name and an address on it. Before Izuku could say anything something exploded spectacularly on the bridge. The very bridge that Katsuki and the others were supposed to use to escape.
Bakugo's POV
Fuck being the heroes. He wanted nothing to do with them after what happened in his and Deku's childhoods. They hadn't saved him or anyone else of the Lost Children that needed their help. So fuck them.
It certainly did not help that he was having to fight the big ass flaming bear who appeared out of nowhere. How could one miss the fireball that was Endeavour? It should not have been possible. Yet here he was ducking and dodging around the bear's flames.
The others were behind him keeping the other heroes off of him. He brought more than he was supposed to. Izuku only wanted a handful to keep them from getting caught. To be honest they would not have gotten away with supplies. The extra runners he brought got away but the heroes blocked the main group's path.
Most of the heroes were not big deals until Endeavour decided to join the fight. He wasnt King Explosion Murder for nothing. There was no way that he would give up here because the Number 2 hero was here. If anything it made him fire off more explosions and fight all the harder.
He dodged around a fiery pillar that was sent his way. It wasnt as hot as he thought it would be. Maybe the man was holding back because he was a kid. Katsuki wanted to snort at the thought. Maybe he was a fluffy puppy.
"KEM!"
The shout of warning made him throw himself to the ground. As soon as his chest hit the bridge he was glad he did. Wood shot to where he was just second before. Damn Kamui Woods had joined in their battle. Luckily his quirk was well suited for battle against the man.
Turning around he charged at the hero. The explosions brought him close to the hero. Woods tried to bring his arm up to defend or attack but he redirected himself behind the hero. In his blindspot, Katsuki hit the hero in the back.
It made the hero stumble forward and then turn to face Katsuki. The vigilante didn't give him a chance to recover. He kept pushing the hero as the others kept Endeavour off of him.
The cold air burned his lungs as he tried to keep the pace up. The malnutrition and cold weather were taking its toll. No matter how they tried they were all hungry. More often than not he would share his rations with the younger children. It was simply to help take the edge off of their hunger. He was sure the only time their bellies were full was when the soup kitchen was open. That was only once a week or so.
The cold made it hard to produce sweat. If this kept going on for much longer then he would run out of sweat. If that happened they would be captured. He had to keep going to push himself beyond his limits.
Katsuki felt someone drop-down next to him. His hands sparked as he was about to attack them thinking they were heroes when a flash of gold stopped him. Thank god. It was Izuku.
One of the others shouted joy overtaking his exhaustion, "KING!"
Izuku asked meeting Katsuki's red eyes, "You okay KEM?"
Katsuki nodded not letting his relief show. His shoulder and wrist were killing him from overuse of his quirk. They were most likely sprained but he could keep going. Cold green eyes then turned to the heroes.
He questioned, "Do you really think you can stop the Lost Children? Even if we are captured here others will take our place. We are not afraid to keep fighting you."
Endeavor replied equally as cold, "We can't just let you go. You're vigilantes and that must stop."
Izuku shrugged, "Doesn't mean we can't give everything we have. We have something to fight for after all."
With that Izuku nodded to Katsuki and the blond lunged at Endeavour. Around them, the fighting began again. Katsuki focused all of his strength into one final explosion. They had to take Endeavour from this fight if they wanted to get away. The hear of a man would only keep chasing them. In their current condition, they would not be able to keep this up for much longer.
Izuku drove Endeavour back towards the end of the bridge. The explosion would knock him into the water below them. They knew the Number 2 hero could swim. He didnt like to swim due to quirk but he could swim. With that last thought, he unleashed the full strength of his quirk.
As expected Endeavour was knocked completely off the bridge. However, Izuku had been in his grasp and Katsuki was unable to stop it. His best friend and the Number 2 hero went over the side of the bridge.
Katsuki rushed towards the side hoping against hope that Izuku had gotten away. Only to see them hit the water in full force. Endeavor's quirk was off due to the physical contact with Izuku.
Shit! Izuku can't swim!
