How she kept getting wrapped up in little vampire projects such as these, Erin would never know. Probably something to do with living with two of the most incompatible vampires to ever exist. Yet she couldn't exactly complain. She didn't exactly have much choice in the matter for... Confidential reasons.

"Hey! You ok? You seem zoned out." A curly haired brunette commented as she set down her handbag beside Erin.

"Yeah I'm fine Becky." Erin lied, half smiling at one of her only other friends, well, more assigned friend really. Teachers had instructed Becky to become friends with Erin, and given Becky's nature being the 'popular girl' of the year, it was a surprise to everyone when she actually became friends with the 'new girl'.

"I know what it is! You don't wanna do the chicken Kiev today. Am I right or am I right? Being a vegetarian and all." Becky continued to question Erin. Something was off and Becky knew it, Erin was just a little stubborn sometimes.

"Yes Becky. The chicken kievs." Erin sarcastically agreed.

"Y'know, Adam's usually here by now. Is that what you're worried about? Honestly I don't know why you hang around with him, he's a little odd." Becky said a little too truthfully which made Erin uncomfortable. Even so, she didn't say anything. The main point was Erin was worried about Adam, just it was much more things than him being a little late. In truth, that was the least of her concerns.

"See we both picked up on that didn't we. And yeah, kinda." Erin admitted.

"Never mind, he's here now." Becky stated with a little more excitement than she usually would've.

Erin turned her head curiously in the direction Becky had pointed. She hadn't actually seen Adam yet. Ingrid had told Erin after giving her the role of 'vampire babysitter' that he'd been covered in blood when he left after an 'accident' she did not want to hear about. Then Ingrid did add that Adam had sent Renfield to get him a new uniform since turning up to school with a bloody uniform wasn't exactly normal. Even a newly transformed vampire could figure that one out. Adam also being a huge vampire nerd made figuring this whole thing out much simpler.

After giving it some thought, Erin had never seen a vampire after they transformed, well except for her brother, but he'd been on the serum so not much changed about him, plus he hadn't been through a blood mirror. She was curious if vampires looked or acted drastically different, pre-transformation and after. With that thought, she realised she was just about to find out.

The door to the classroom swung open once again like it had been for the past ten minutes, but all of a sudden the class actually had an interest in who entered the class. It was Adam.

The first thing Erin noticed was that Adam's clothes weren't bloody. One less thing to worry about on the long list of vampire babysitter duties. But then Erin started to notice more than the things on the duty list. Adam's complexion was certainly paler than it had been this morning, which was extremely pale given he closely resembled a ghost when she'd seen him last. His hair was also much darker, verging on pitch black. But there was one or two flecks of dark brown left. It gave Erin some sort of hope that he might not go completely mental. Silly really, it was only hair.

He resembled the Count and Ingrid ten times more than he had before his transformation. Facial features seemed to be sharper, even though they probably weren't. Probably something to do with the 'vampiric allure' about him. About every vampire in fact. Annoying thing that the alluring aura vampires have are only there to lure you to your doom, rarely more.

Becky was certainly falling for the mysterious aura Adam suddenly had, along with the rest of the class it seemed. Even Erin herself slightly if she were to be truthful. The supposed 'Dracula charm' the Count bragged about having must be genetic. Or at least inherited after the Dracula had merged with their reflection. Erin didn't know how the whole mystery of it all worked! Either way, transforming certainly made this 'charm' become more obvious. Erin had never realised the 'Dracula charm' and the resemblance until now… It was safe to say that the transformation did alter many things about the person.

Unfortunately, Erin was brought back to reality by her best friend giggling beside her. "Erin... You're staring." Becky teased as Erin tried to conceal her face since it was turning noticeably red.

"So was half the class, including you." She replied as she flung her arms out on the table dramatically, her head following. Embarrassed by the fact that she'd been staring like a love sick puppy at her other the best friend.

"Alright fine. I was." Becky admitted dreamily as she gazed over to where Adam was and rested her head on her palm. Meanwhile, Adam seemed to be having a hard time entering the classroom.

The room was half sunlit, making it exceptionally hard for a vampire to enter. The sun didn't reach the back of the classroom, but unfortunately for Adam and quite lucky for his classmates, the entrance was at the front. Eventually Adam gave up standing at the shaded doorway, and strutted back down the corridor. Just before he left, Erin saw his eyes flicker black, red, then back to their original yet slightly brighter and certainly colder blue. He was obviously still hungry, along with frustrated that he couldn't enter the room full of what he now considered food.

"He's in a right mood isn't he?" Becky whined. She'd expected him to at least sit with them. Not to linger in the shadows and then to just disappear.

"Yeah, I'm sure he has his reasons. I should probably find him before does something stupid." Erin replied, talking more to herself than she was to Becky. She started to worry that Adam might end up ripping someone's head off from the way he'd glared around the room. She grabbed her bag and swung it over her shoulder. Unfortunately she'd only made it to the door before the registration teacher came in to do her job and register the class.

"Settle down class!" She yelled over the students that didn't stop chattering. "I said be quiet!"

The room fell silent as she started to call out student's names.

"What was the 'make sure Adam isn't stupid' or something act you just pulled?" Becky whispered to Erin.

"Nothing. Forget about it." Erin answered shortly. She'd rushed back to her seat after their teacher had come in but was barely sat, ready to get up at the first sign of trouble Adam might've caused.

"Ladies in the back! Want to share with the class what you're talking about?" The teacher said as every head in the room turned to look at the pair.

"Uh, no, sorry." Erin and Becky said in unison as the surrounding students gradually stopped staring at them.

"Right. Well as most of you know, we have an ofsted inspector coming to the school today. I know it isn't the nature of the majority of you, but to those of you who are troublemakers, I heavily suggest you to lay it off. I don't want any students from my classroom causing any incident-."

A loud siren started to blast throughout the school. Water could be heard outside in the corridor pouring down from the ceiling. Students could be heard both laughing and screaming as they sprinted down the length of the corridor, books and bags over their heads in an attempt to keep themselves dry.

Erin cursed under her breath as she guessed what had happened.

Adam had happened.

———

His eyes glowed red as the glass for the fire alarm shattered and fell to the floor. The alarms started blaring out their horrendous high-pitched screams. Adam marched down the hallway as papers circled in the air behind him. A group of students ran towards an exit as he came closer, smirking, revealing his new fangs he'd extended slightly. He could hear a teacher behind him, yelling at students to get out into the 'playground', wondering why the fire alarm had gone off.

It was complete and utter chaos, and it was thrilling.

Adam followed the students all the way down the corridor until he reached a corner. All but one had escaped. He crawled up onto the ceiling as a young boy backed out of a doorway, still curious as to what was going on. Adam swung down and snarled in his face, sending the boy running for his life. His fear tasted so sweet and sent waves of power throughout Adam's body. He just wished he could've had a taste of his blood. It must've been even sweeter!

As he went down the stairs, he saw Erin and Becky. Becky didn't seem to notice him, but as Erin put her hood on, she made eye contact with him. He sensed all of his classmate's pulses, but found finding Erin's quite a task. It was there, barely.

The same teacher from before was ushering all the students out, as Adam went unnoticed stood on the stairway. He observed the pandemonium he'd caused with pride as he made his way down to greet the fast approaching Miss McCauley.

———

"Renfield?!"

"It- It's the master, he's in a terrible mood."

"Dad did all this?"

"No, no. Not your…"

"Not my what Renfield?" Ingrid demanded as Renfield realised how deep of a hole he'd gotten himself into. He'd already assumed it would be about six feet deep. "Say it you servile wart."

"Not- Not your father miss."

Ingrid was in disbelief. Renfield barely knew Adam, the kid had been here five minutes for garlic's sake. The cheek of that maggot munshing idiot! Oh how she eating to make Renfield squirm trying to answer her upcoming questions.

"If not dad, then there must be master. Who?"

"A.."

"A?"

"da."

"da?"

"m."

"Spells?"

"Adam..."

Renfield cowered under Ingrid's livid gaze. She looked as if she was going to rip his head off. Of course, no one would put it past her if she did.

"He's been here for one day, evil for less than that, and you're already calling him the master?"

"Please don't tell the Count!!"

"It's not dad you have to worry about," Ingrid spat as she grabbed Renfield's collar with immense force and strength "It's me."

———

As Miss McCauley walked through the disorganized corridor, she couldn't help but feel at a loss. The papers that had been floating about were crumpled on the floor in wet heaps thanks to the fire extinguisher system the school had installed. Walls were damp, posters were peeling. The place looked horrendous.

"I expect you'll be wanting to see me in your office?" A familiar yet colder voice called out of a classroom.

She was in disbelief as a relatively good student walked out of the classroom. Adam? Really Adam? He did all of this? He was usually quiet and sweet. He wasn't exactly the type who would send the whole school into chaos. Never did she think that he would be so destructive.

"Was this all down to you?"

"Oh, I thought you'd like a little chat with the firemen." He said mockingly as he chuckled to himself.

"There is NO excuse for this kind of behaviour. You're suspended for a week and I'm calling your mother. Now please leave the school premises and report to my office- offi-..."

Adam prowled up to her as she started to feel awfully woozy. She might just fall asleep on the spot. She stood frozen and unconscious, completely unaware of her surroundings as Adam went to bite her neck. Unfortunately he was rudely interrupted.

"Adam?"

"Erin. I've been looking for you. You smell... Off." Adam grinned at her, revealing a fangy smile stretched wide across his face.

Erin breathed in deeply, trying to comfort herself. Telling herself that Adam wouldn't hurt her. It was Adam, right? However, Adam had decided to switch his prey from the headteacher to one of the few people who actually wanted to befriend his old, pathetic, weak self.

"G- Get back or I'll.." Erin said, stumbling over her words in a panic.

"Stake me with a blunt HB?" Adam mocked as he kept approaching her with malicious intent.

"Yes." Erin replied sternly.

Slightly taken aback by Erin's retaliation, Adam thought it better to play with his food a little before he devoured it.

"How did you know then? How did you know that I'm a vampire?" Adam questioned Erin as he circled her and running his freezing cold hands over her shoulders. She wouldn't be able to escape. He might be new to this, but he'd read enough books. He had an idea of what he was doing.

Erin kept calm as she scrambled for an answer, stuffing the pencil up her sleeve that got stopped from going any further by a bottle of stasis spray. It was in a secret little pocket on the sleeve of her coat. Luckily, Erin had re-applied it after she came back in the school, just in case the water that was gushing down from the roof had washed it away.

"I am one stupid! I smell different, don't I? Like the Count or Ingrid? You know, the vampires I live with. The owner and his daughter." She finally answered and explained just before Adam lost his patience.

"My father and sister."

"Yes..."

Feeling rather stupid for not picking up on Erin's vampirism, which he couldn't help but feel should've been obvious to him. Adam needed to change the subject before it became obvious that he felt silly. To show that HE was in control. Not this pitiful 'half fang' if he had his terminology correct, that thought she'd outsmarted him. But Adam couldn't help but feel like she was lying to him. She had the evidence that she was indeed a vampire, he could smell it. But he'd also seen her outside in the sunlight before, when she was presumably a vampire and him a human. He'd sensed her pulse as she was leaving the building only moments ago. Maybe he wasn't as silly as he thought. Maybe it wasn't obvious because it was all a deception! It was a lie!

"So you're a vampire who can sit in the sun like a kid at the sea side and had a faint pulse only a few minutes ago?" Adam smirked as he questioned Erin. He was on to her and they both knew it.

"Uh- What do you mean?" Erin asked as she tried to laugh, but only managed to make herself seem more nervous.

"I've seen you, walking along outside with Becky. I was with you! How do you do it? You have a special ring? Or do you just sparkle?" Adam asked sarcastically. He continued to circle her as he eyed the pulse points on her neck. It was pretty obvious to the both of them now that Adam had figured out her little lie.

Adam halted. He wrapped his icy finger around Erin's neck once again, tightening his grip. There was no chance of escape. "Now explain to me… Vampire… How you have a pulse." Adam whispered huskily in Erin's ear. He had his fingers on her pulse, that was rapidly increasing. She was terrified. "You're a breather, aren't you? Hah! Pathetic! And you really thought you could get away with pretending you're a vampire like me?!" Adam jeered as he let go of her and widened his fangy smile, wider than Erin thought he physically could. Adam approached her, and her body ceased up. He was going to bite her.

Erin was livid. He'd only been a vampire for an hour, yet he was boasting about it already. She desperately wanted to retaliate, but any retaliation, and she'd be dead. Instead, Erin subtlety slid the HB pencil into her hand, and gripped it even tighter than she'd ever gripped a stake in her life. The only thing she could muster to say in the middle of all the anger and fear was "Adam, please!"

"Ugh, is that the best you can do?" Adam's hand grabbed Erin's hair and forced her head to tilt to reveal the throbbing artery on her neck. Of course, it was invisible to his senses for some reason, but he could feel it as he prodded her neck. He stopped himself from drooling as he wiped her neck slightly and the vein became more obvious. Adam let himself imagine what the blood would taste like, feel like, as it trickled down his throat. Warm and delicious. Every bone in his body ached to finally get a taste of human blood straight from the source, so much so that he scraped his fangs across Erin's neck lightly so her skin tore a little and bled. But he couldn't. He just couldn't. Some type of forceful voice in the back of his mind begged him not to.

"She's your friend! OUR friend! You don't want to hurt her!" It demanded.

Adam pulled away, confused at his own actions. He took a moment to contemplate what just happened, before he bowed his head again to bite the impostor vampire. He desperately tried to bite down into Erin's neck, but he couldn't. He just couldn't. He wanted to. Oh, how he wanted to! To feel her blood swirling around in his mouth, but he just couldn't bring himself to bite her.

Adam threw himself into the empty classroom beside them, breaking the hypnosis he'd put on Miss McCauley, leaving an equally confused Erin in the corridor with her.

"Erin, could you make a start on this please?" Miss McCauley asked Erin before walking away, dazed.

Erin nodded as she started to pick up soggy paper off the floor and watched Miss McCauley walk away. In her experience, vampires never had to take two tries to bite someone, let alone fail at both. Ingrid biting Erin's brother was an obvious example. The reason she ended up here in the first place. Erin had been desperate to find a cure for her brother, so when she stumbled upon a somewhat believable remedy, she had to try it. She'd later learnt that staking the creator of the half fang wouldn't cure them of their vampirism, so she ended up taking the famous Dracula hospitality in her stride, and was now gathering information on the Draculas for the slayer's guild.

But now that she knew her friend was a Dracula. She could get him killed! In fairness, he did just try to kill her, but she'd still feel guilty if she did rat him out to the slayers. And to think she nearly had all the information the guild needed, and was about to expose the Dracula's location to them! She figured she could hold that information off for a little while longer until the Adam situation was sorted. As long as Adam didn't go berserk, or try to kill someone else, or both, the reasons not to report him outweighed the reasons to do so. Well, at least for the moment…

Well its been a long time hasn't it? All I can say is expect more irregular uploads from me!

I hope the new year is treating everyone well!
