"AH! I love the smell of chaos in the morning! He did seem quite pathetic at first, but he did prove himself! If only he was called, I don't know, Vladimir. A proper name from the old country! He'd be a perfect vampire." The Count gloated "No self-respecting vampire calls themselves… Adam." He said his name with slight repulse as he walked into the throne room. Ingrid was sat by the grand dinner table sipping a glass of blood and Renfield was nowhere to be seen. The Count tried and failed to pour himself a glass to celebrate the unexpectedly chaotic occasion, but Ingrid had finished off the bottle. Ingrid smiled to herself. As her father faffed with a different blood bottle. One of many scattered around the room.
"RENFIELD!!" The count eventually yelled, craving some of the red stuff. Replying to his call was a muffled yelp that came from the ceiling.
"OH WOULDN'T YOU LOOK AT THAT! He's pinned him to the ceiling! That's genius that is, genius!"
"Thank you." Ingrid said quite flatly, mock appreciating her father's accidental compliment.
"How dare you humiliate Renfield, that's my job." The Count said, changing his appreciative tone to his regular ill-tempered one. Ingrid brushed off the harsh words and stood up to leave before her father caught her.
"A word of warning Ingrid. I wouldn't try to compete with Adam. I feel like he's capable of much more than meets the eye. Either way, he's definitely worse than you."
Ingrid, although angry, ignored her father once again and left in a flash. She didn't care whether Adam would be a match for her or not. He was making her father, who already despised her, hate her even more! That reason being one reason and one reason alone. She was a girl.
She knew what she had to do.

The students filed into the classroom one by one as the cookery teacher explained what they were going to be doing that day. Becky was gossiping with her friends. The ones she'd had before Erin had arrived. But once she realised Erin was looking rather lonely, she glided over to repeat back the same gossip she and her friends were speaking about.
"Has Adam had a hair cut? He seems... Kinda different." Becky started, and failing to get much of a reaction out of Erin she continued.
"Who knew a haircut could make someone so moody?" She asked. Becky seemed to be covering what seemed to be attraction with judgement. Something which lit a fire in Erin. It was strange to her. It felt like jealousy. But why on earth would she be jealous?! Adam was her best friend nothing more.
"Ignore him." She replied bluntly, still trying to figure out how to babysit this vampire, whilst also trying to juggle her mixed emotions about the whole situation.
"You two had a row or something? Because this morning you seemed-"
"Becky! Just- Never mind."
Erin started unpacking her ingredients, but she saw Adam wave at her and Becky, and Becky smiling and waving back. Erin felt her chest tighten seeing their little interaction. Why was she jealous?! Surely she wasn't. There was absolutely zero reason to be.
The teacher who most had ended up calling Jamie was listing the ingredients they needed. Erin went through the same checklist with him. Tarragon, bread crumbs... Garlic.
Erin saw Adam flinch as Jamie pulled out a bulb of garlic from his pocket and waved it around. He hadn't noticed Adam standing in the doorway until now.
"Adam, you're suspended." He started as he walked closer to him, garlic waving dangerously close to Adam's face. "You're not supposed to be on school property."
By now Jaime was holding the garlic right under Adam's nose. Smelling it was like inhaling needles for him, each one made of silver poking his insides.
Adam glared at the bulb of garlic, then at Jaime and turned around, leaving the classroom without saying a word. Meanwhile, Becky was beside Erin, discreetly biting her lip and gazing at Adam dreamily. To Erin, she looked like an idiot. Although that might just have been Erin's perspective. No one else seemed to notice the stupid grin on her face.

A few good hours had gone by, and it was nearly time for lunch. Word had got round that the ofsted inspector had in fact arrived and teachers were telling off students for the slightest of things.
Then there was Adam. Teachers had been telling him all day to leave the school, but he just hypnotized them to forget about the encounter. He'd done some sketching. Sketching of year eight stuck to the ceiling that is. Adam thought he'd been quite productive. In other words, he'd wreaked havoc on the school.
Speaking of Adam, he was leaning on a locker in the now crowded corridors he'd previously made a mess of. Becky and Erin passed him, and his eyes trailed after them for a while. Erin quickened her pace as Becky attempted to slow down. As they became synchronized again, all of a sudden he was right in front of them much to the dismay of Erin and the delight of Becky.
"Look, just leave me alone." Erin demanded as Adam smiled to himself. Erin had somewhat forgotten she was supposed to babysit him. She had accidentally let her jealousy take over.
"Actually, it was Becky I was after." He said as he smiled at Erin. He was certainly getting under her skin if that was his aim. "I was wondering it you'd like to come round for lunch for a bite to eat?"
"What, your house?" Becky questioned. Why would they walk for miles if they could just stay in school or go to a local cafe or takeout?
"No, upstairs. The living quarters there." Adam said plainly.
"Really? How'd you get access-" Becky questioned again, clearly confused.
"Doesn't matter." Adam said again as he smiled, charming Becky.
"Uh," Becky said as she looked at Erin as if she was asking for permission, but she got no response. She looked back at Adam "yeah, alright then."
Adam widened his smile as he saw Erin grow more and more agitated. Becky could clearly feel the rising tension as well, because she walked away into the girls' bathroom.
"That supposed to make me jealous, is it?" Erin asked coldly, making the fact that she was indeed jealous very clear.
And as if he hadn't irritated Erin enough, Adam went on to say "Sorry, who are you again?" As if he'd never met her. Then he stalked away, proud of his work. Ready for Becky and Erin's friendship to inevitably crumble because of him.
Being evil was proving to be fun.
———
Erin watched as Adam walked away from her in shock. Well, rather Adam's extremely evil reflection. He had the audacity to pretend he'd never met her! The nerve!
But she couldn't let herself get distracted by her jealousy. Right now she had to stop Becky from going to lunch with him. She was scared that Becky would end up being the main course.
Erin pushed through the busy corridor and into the girls' bathroom where Becky had disappeared into. Once she entered, Erin noticed Becky standing awkwardly by the broken hand dryers.
"Hey." She said shortly to greet Erin.
"Hey, I was worried where you'd gone off to." Erin replied sincerely, glad that Becky didn't have two holes in her neck… yet.
"I'm sorry Erin, just you gave me a weird feeling back there when you were talking to Adam." Becky said, sipping her cola.
Erin sighed as Becky went over to the mirror to check her makeup. Eventually, she decided to tell Becky about Adam straight. Avoiding the vampire bit, so she didn't sound insane.
"Look I don't think you should be meeting up with Adam. He's dangerous Becky." She practically begged, but Becky didn't take her seriously.
"Yeah, I know." Becky answered jokingly as she re-applied her lip gloss.
"I just don't want you to get hurt!" Erin close to pleaded with her, only getting a slightly judgmental and curious side eye in return.
As Becky walked off to use the toilet, she couldn't help but ask "Are you jealous?"
Erin instantly replied defensively with an exaggerated "NO!"
"I knew it!" Becky called back as she closed the cubicle door.
"Becky..." Erin said disapprovingly, as she tried to think of another way to stop Becky from going. Just then she spotted the cola Becky had left behind. Erin had to stall.
"You know, you're right." She started off as she struggled to find a tube of garlic paste in her pocket. "I do really like Adam, and I thought that I may have a shot with him." Erin continued as she squeezed the tube's contents into the half empty cola can. "Just promise me you won't go out with him?" She finished as she swirled the garlic around in the can. And with that Erin left.
She walked out and through the crowded corridor, accompanied only by her thoughts. She didn't know whether what she'd said in there was made up, or if she admitted feelings that she didn't even know existed. But the main thing she definitely knew was that she had to get away from that bathroom before Becky could realise what she'd done. She knew that Becky wouldn't appreciate the garlic flavored cola. She didn't want to be there when she choked on the presumably horrendous taste of that unlikely concoction.

Ingrid was happy with that. It may just be perfect. The wood in the woodwork room wasn't the best quality, but it would do. After all it was only a makeshift stake for a temporary problem. A problem she was about to permanently get rid of. It would be quick and easy, although not necessarily painless.
She'd kill the little imp, Adam, even if it was the last thing she did.
Again, long time no upload!
Recently saw that YD was streaming again on BBC iPlayer and it gave me the oomph to write a little more.
If anyone is still here, thanks for putting up with my horrible upload consistency!
