Izuku's POV

Sneaking out of the detective's apartment was far too easy. It almost made him wonder if it was designed that way. Or if the detective simply trusted him not to run. Not that he was running tonight. No far from it. Tonight he was simply following a lead.

Kaitou Kid, a member of the Phantom Thievds had given him a card with an address. Tonight he would find out why the other had tried to save him. Tried because despite the Thief's help he still ended up in the hands of the heroes.

For now he wanted some answers. Things were not adding up about the thief and he was curious to see if the man would answer his questions. Or if he would try to mislead Izuku. No matter which Kid chose he would have better insight into the man's character.

Slipping through the back alleys with practiced ease he found an old bar. It only took a few seconds to confirm that yes he was in the right spot. Why would a thief of Kid's caliber use this bar as his hideaway? It made no logical sense. Unless this wasn't hidewy but a front and meeting place for potential allies. That would certainly make more sense.

Watching the bar over the course of an hour he noticed something unusual. Unlike with most places this one didn't have the usual traffic. In fact it could be described as a dead bar.

After another half hour of observation he entered it. A single old man stood behind the bar. If Izuku had to guess he was in his mid to late sixties. Upon seeing Izuku his eyes lit up.

He said sounding genuinely pleased about Izuku coming into his bar despite being under age, "You must be young Midoriya. The young master has told me much about you. My name is Konosuke Jii. You may call me Jii."

"You've been expecting me then?" questioned Izuku carefully. Mistrust filling him at the thought that he may have just walked into a trap.

There weren't many places to hide in this particular bar. It had an open design and everything was in plain sight. From what he knew of Kaitou Kid however appearances were deceiving. The best thing for him would be to be on his guard. Otherwise he might end up on the wrong end of a ransom.

Jii replied in a friendly enough tone, "Of course. The young master said he gave you a card that would lead you here. When I mentioned that you hadn't been by yet he did say you were settling in with a new guardian. I hope this one is treating you well."

Izuku smiled a little at the thought of the detective, "He treats me well. Unlike many other adults in my life he doesn't treat me like I am lesser. As long as I act like an adult he treats me like one."

Jii nodded sagely, "Good. Those of us who work with the Phantom Thieves wondered. We are many things young Midoriya but we do not take kindly to those who harm children. If we find out about someone harming a child their lives will be made very difficult. It does not matter if we know the child in question or not."

"You're an odd group," commented Izuku dryly.

"Says the King of Thieves who ran a bunch of children thieves throughout the city."

Izuku was about to retort when the door opened again. This time a black haired young man with piercing blue eyes entered. By Izuku's estimate he was probably out of high school. Maybe even in college by this point. Green and blue clashed as the two stared at each other. There was no mistaking that gave even if they had only met once Izuku was sure this was Kaitou Kid.

"Young master," greeted Jii, "As you thought young Midoriya just needed some time before he came to visit."

Kid greeted with a small smile, "It's nice to meet you, Midoriya Izuku. Come with me."

Izuku only hesitated half a second before he did as he was bid. Kid pushed through a hidden door that he had missed in his initial observation. Knowing it was there meant that Kid spent quite a bit of time here.

The room they entered had two chairs with a table between them and a couch. On the table was a vanilla folder and a tea set. Kid waved him over to the chairs letting him have first pick.

Being the person he was Izuku chose the chair that allowed him to see the entire room. Kid laid his jacket over the back of the couch before picking up the folder. There was a flicker of emotion across his emotion before it smoothed over. Curiosity made Izuku wonder what was in the folder.

Kid asked after a moment, "Do you want something to drink? We have everything but I won't give you alcohol. Jii won't even let me drink and I'm of age."

Izuku shook his head as he replied, "I can't stay too long. I don't know how much the detective checks up on me at night."

"Ah yes," said Kid, "Even after I stepped in that night you were still caught. Does Detective Tsukauchi treat you well?"

Izuku rubbed a hand down his face as he replied, "Tsukauchi treats me well. He let's me see my friends and they seem to be taken care of as well. It's nice to have a reliable place to sleep and warmth even in the cold of winter."

"I wouldn't know that struggle," replied Kid honestly, "While I lost my father when I was young I still had my mother. When she wasn't around my neighbors looked after me. I always had enough food and a warm place to sleep."

That was when it clicked in Izuku's mind, "Your father was the original Kaitou Kid."

"That's right," admitted Kid, "I am what the others call a Legacy Thief. You are too."

"What are you talking about?" Questioned Izuku the hairs on the back of his neck standing up on end.

Now Kid's full attention was upon him. Blue eyes did not allow Izuku's attention to waiver. It felt as if he couldn't move a single inch.

A quirk? No. This wasn't like any quirk he had ever seen. Then what was it? Was this simply fear taking effect?

Fear was something he understood and pushed past. Every living creature on their planet felt fear. Whether or not they admitted to it was another story. But they all felt it. Some were able to push it to the side or stand up to it. While others cowered back unable to face what they feared most in the world.

Izuku for his part was no coward. He would always face his fears head on. Even if it meant his destruction. That was why he had risked it all. So that those who relied on him no longer had to feel the sting of fear so often.

However like any good Lost Child Izuku faced the fear bubbling up in his chest. He would not allow it to overcome him. He was the King of Thieves, Leader of the Lost Children. Fear was an emotion that could be overcome.

Finally Kid replied, "You still have no idea of who your family is. Have you not wondered about that pin you bear? About what it could mean? Your history? Where you come from?"

Izuku snarled barely able to refrain from shouting, "Of course I have. I always wanted to know where I came from. Even before I was misdiagnosed as qurikless. My mother, as much as I hate to call her that said my father was a drunk who abandoned her as soon as he found out she was pregnant. The only thing he left behind was the pin. I never knew him!"

Kid leaned his cheek against an open palm as he said wistfully, "That's what you said before. I know for a fact your mother was lying. Your father never knew that she was pregnant. He gave her the pin so that if she ever needed aid all she had to do was show it to one of the bars."

"What do you mean?" questioned Izuku his mouth dryer than the deserts.

Kid said, "Every bar affiliated with the Phantom Thieves has the falcon symbol engraved into the doorway. The pins are typically only worn by those of us who are closest to Him. Most are silver or copper in color. There are only two in the world that are gold. Yours and His."

"Who is he?"

Bakugo's POV

It was late when he got a message from Izuku. The blond knew that his brother would be going to confront Kid tonight. To try and find answers to the question that plagued him.

What those questions were, was a mystery even to Katsuki. Despite what some might think, cough Alec cough, Izuku didn't tell him everything. In fact there was a lot that Katsuki had to either figure out for himself or outright ask to get a straight answer on. Even then it could be an uphill battle.

Moonlight chat:

KOT: So I met with Kaitou Kid tonight.

KEM: And? What did he have to say? Do I need to sneak out and come get you?

Wolfy: I'm game.

Foxy: Kids just settled for the night we had am issue with nightmares. If need be I can have them ready to move within an hour.

Poof: I might have an issue getting out. I cannot see the ground from the apartment. To make things worse I can't find any sort of security that Hawks has on the door. Too risky for me to try and break out.

KOT: We are not abandoning our homes... yet. The heroes and detective have given us no reason to. Unless there is something someone hasn't shared?

Poof: No King.

Foxy: No King.

Wolfy: No King.

KOT: Good. But it seems that he knows more about me than I do.

KEM: What do you mean?

KOT: The pin apparently is well known amongst the Phantom Thieves. He said my father is a member of the group.

KEM: WHAT?!

Katsuki knew very little about Izuku's father. This was because their was nothing to know about the man. Izuku had never met the man that sired him. All they knew was the pin was from him.

Izuku had always wanted to know who his father was. In his eyes parents had a strong influence on who he became. Whether for good or for ill everyone was influenced by their parents. Some would become better people. Others would become worse.

KOT: Kid wouldn't tell me who my father is. But he is in the Phantom Thieves. What am I supposed to think about this?

Katsuki growled. This was a shit show. He knew Izuku was freaking out under the new information. There was no way he was going to be able to deal with it himself. He moved to grab his bag and open his window. Leaving Izuku to freak out on his own was not an option.

KEM: I'm coming over.

KOT: Uh it's two in the morning. How are you going to convince Jeanist to let you come over?

KEM: I'm not going to ask him. Open your window I'll come in through it.

KOT: Okay.
