Chapter 25- The Bridge Battle and Truth Revealed

A/N: Here is where Yelizaveta sees who her father is. I had planned for it for this part. It's one thing for her to know her father is the Winter Soldier. It's another for it to be Captain America's friend Bucky Barnes. It would be after this that she starts to go by the name Elizabeth Barnes as Steve finds out what Yelizaveta is Russian for and I invented that Elizabeth was Buck's mother's name. Also as a note. I do not speak Russian or Belarusian except for goodbye and sleep, so the Russian words in this were looked up along with the Belarusian. And this will be one of the longest parts I have done. I don't normally got to nearly 3,000 words.

They all got into Sam's car. Steve and Sam up front and Natasha, Yelizaveta, and Sitwell in the backseat, Natasha and Yelizaveta keeping their Glocks trained on Sitwell. Sitwell looked around nervously as they drove on the bridge. He looked as jittery as a sinner on Judgment Day. He swallowed convulsively. "HYDRA doesn't like leaks," Sitwell said, his voice as nervous as his expression.

"Then why don't you try sticking a cork in it?" Sam asked, looking from the road to the mirror with Sitwell's reflection.

"Uh, guys, Insight's launching in 16 hours. We're cutting it a little bit close here," Yelizaveta said, leaning forward to talk to Steve and Sam.

"I know, Liz. We'll use him to bypass the DNA scans and access the helicarriers directly," Steve said.

"What? Are you crazy? That is a terrible, terrible idea," Sitwell said exasperated. A thud on the roof prevented anyone from answering to that and something metal crashed through the window. Sitwell got pulled out, screaming. Yelizaveta looked in shock at what appeared to be a army boot passing the broken window. A gun discharged into the roof and Yelizaveta and Natasha both jumped into the front seat, Yelizaveta landed on Steve's lap and grabbed the stick to hit the brakes. A figure dressed in black flew through the air and landed on his knees, scraping the road, orange sparks shooting from his right hand.

Yelizaveta's eyes took in her father. He was dressed all in black, his arm gleamed silver in the sunlight, and his whole face had what looked like a mask and goggles on. He had dark, shoulder-length hair. He straightened and unless Yelizaveta was wrong, he seemed to be looking right at her.

The Soldier looked through his goggles at his girl in the front seat. She looked at him in what amounted to shock all over her lovely features. He felt tears come to his eyes. In just a matter of moments, his daughter would be back in his arms where she belonged and he would take her to her mother. Diana had been furious when he had told her that Pierce wouldn't allow her to come with him to see their daughter. But the Soldier had comforted her by saying that Diana would see her before the day was out. Before the Soldier could think through a way to grab Elizabeth without hurting her, the van he was in rammed into the car, giving him a chance to make his next move.

The Soldier flipped through the air and landed on the roof, breaking it. "Hey!" He heard his daughter yelp. And the brakes squealed, sparks flying off the tires.

Yelizaveta looked over at Natasha who was scrambling for her gun as the Winter Soldier's arm went through the windshield and ripped out the steering wheel. Sam cursed and Natasha opened fire. Yelizaveta looked back to see her father jump to the van behind them. The van rammed into them, causing them to fishtail across the bridge and into the guardrails. "Hang on!" Steve shouted as he picked up his shield and flung it against his door. The car flipped as the four of them fell out, holding onto Steve. They skidded across the bridge and Sam got flung a few feet away from them. They came to a stop as the van stopped and her father got off the hood. Natasha and Yelizaveta ran in one direction and Steve in another.

The Soldier grabbed a gun from one of his men and took aim at the man with the shield as he pushed Elizabeth and the redhaired woman out of the way. He raised his shield in time for it to take the blast and knock him off the bridge and into a bus. The Soldier turned his eyes to Elizabeth, the other man, and the Black Widow. Elizabeth firmed up her lips as she slid her sword out of her scabbard. "Natasha, Sam, run! I'm gonna be right behind you!" The Soldier heard his daughter bark and all three took off running as one of his men opened fire on them. They hid behind cars, Elizabeth swinging her sword to block bullets. The soldier was impressed that his girl could do that. Not very many could deflect bullets with a blade.

A bullet caused the man to run in one direction and a huge fireball sent Elizabeth and the Widow in the other direction over a guardrail. The Soldier's heart went into his throat as his daughter and the Widow went jumping over the hoods of cars. The Soldier fired his bazooka at a car, hoping the blast would slow his girl down long enough to make his way to her and inject her with the drugs he brought. Sadly the blast knocked both his daughter and the Widow to one side and over the guardrail. The Soldier took a machine gun out of one of his men's hands and aimed at the ground. Hopefully, Elizabeth would be too frightened to run from him if he sprayed the ground with bullets.

Natasha and Yelizaveta ran under the bridge, Natasha holding her Glock and Yelizaveta holding her sword in on hand and her Glock in the other. "Oh, no!" Yelizaveta exclaimed as she saw her father's shadow and a gun above them. Her father was actually going to shoot them? Everything she had just seen didn't look like a man who wanted to hurt her. Stop her, yes, hurt her, no. Then the shadow moved briefly.

The Soldier looked away at the bus the man had crashed through and his shield lying on the ground. He took aim and before he could fire, he felt something hit his goggles. He got down and removed his goggles with his flesh hand, his dark dirty hair going into his slate-blue eyes. On close examination, the Soldier could see the bullet hole in the glass. He got to his feet and methodically fired at the ground. His eyes then noticed Elizabeth and the redhead going into the shadows of a utility truck. He noticed then that his daughter held her sword in one hand and her gun in the other. Most impressive. Only my kid can fight with two weapons, the Soldier thought, smiling to himself behind his mask. His pride and amusement was short-lived as Black Widow opened fire with the two guns she held.

He ducked and waited for the clip to run out. He then straightened and shot toward the Black Widow, taking care not to hit Elizabeth. Both ducked behind the shadows. His heart nearly stopped as Elizabeth and Black Widow ran out of the shadows and away from his firing. The Soldier stopped firing as soon as they got out of range and his daughter and the Widow looked back as they were running.

"I have the woman and the girl. Find him," The Soldier ordered his men dispassionately. It was time to take his daughter and finish his mission. He jumped off the bridge, landing on a car. He gripped his machine gun in one hand and the injection for his girl in the other. The amount of the drugs wouldn't harm his daughter physically. It would just make it where she would sleep for hours. The Solider had used the same drugs on Diana when he had been ordered to take her. Diana had slept for hours and had accepted that she was going to be his wife fairly well. Granted, she had cried at first and had said she didn't want to be his wife, but once she realized that the world all thought she was dead and that she was never going to be allowed to leave and he was her husband and she had to do as he said, she had accepted that this was now her life. His daughter was no different. She would fight him at first, but she would accept that she was his daughter and would do as he said.

He walked off the car resolutely, following his daughter and the woman. He barely noticed the people rushing past him as he looked around for the woman and his girl. He stopped looking around. Surely they couldn't have gotten this far. He stopped at the sound of his daughter's voice. "I make an LZ, 2300 block of Virginia Avenue. Rendezvous two minutes. Civilians threatened. I repeat, civilians threatened," The Soldier pulled out on of his smoke grenades and tossed it in the area where he head his daughter's voice. The grenade wouldn't kill her, just drive her out. "Taking fire above and below the expressway." His daughter repeated herself as the grenade went off, revealing that she had tricked him with a recording as the car exploded and his girl and her friend weren't there. He lowered his machine gun as two figures then rushed him.

Yelizaveta looked at her father as she rushed him with Natasha. His eyes met hers briefly and warmed slightly as they met hers. He knew her! He knew who she was to him! Natasha then jumped on his back, pulling out a garrote and wrapping it around his neck. "Natasha, don't kill him!" Yelizaveta screamed as her father pulled Natasha off his back and flung her into the car across from him. His eyes then met Yelizaveta's and he walked to her. Yelizaveta looked down to see a needle winking in the sunlight. Before she could even think her father grabbed her wrist and pulled her to him.

"Не убегай от меня, Elizabeth, (Don't run from me)" her father ordered in a rough voice as he slung his machine gun over his shoulder and pulled her against his chest. His fingers carding through her dark hair. A sharp pain entered her neck and she dumbly realized that her father had injected her with whatever was in the needle. The sudden urge to close her eyes and sleep filled her.

"What did you- What did you-" Yelizaveta tried to ask, but her mouth refused tp cooperate. A that moment, what felt like an electrical current went through her, her head slamming against her father's thick chest and her world went black.

The Black Widow took off running as The Soldier fought the effects of whatever she had just thrown at his arm. It gave off some electrical current and, to his relief, pushed Elizabeth into a further state of slumber. Tucking his daughter into the crook of his arm, he pulled his hand from her hair and pulled off what the Widow threw at him. He clenched his metal fingers into a fist, slung Elizabeth over his shoulder and went after the Widow. He could fight the woman and hold on to his girl at the same time. Pulling out another dose of the drugs, he lowered his daughter to the ground and injected the needle into her neck. The drugs should keep her out for at least a day. "Спать, маленький, (Sleep, little one)" the Soldier said, touching her face with his flesh hand before picking her back up and over his shoulder, following the Widow. It didn't take long to find her. She was yelling for people to move out of the way. He raised his gun, trying not to wake Elizabeth and opened fire. The woman gave a muffled scream and backed into a parked car.

Yelizaveta awoke to gunshots going off, feeling incredibly dizzy. The last thing she remembered was the Winter Soldier, her father pulling her to his chest in a tight hug. Yelizaveta looked around. She was still being held by her father, but he had his gun in his metal grip and her flung over his shoulder. With one burst of energy, she pulled herself away from him and hit the ground hard. "Elizabeth!" Her father's voice came as if in a tunnel. She felt a hand grip her by the shoulder.

Through the drugged haze she looked into Natasha's green eyes. "Vet, are you okay?" Natasha asked and Yelizaveta noticed the blood trailing from her friend's shoulder. Yelizaveta looked to see her father watching her and Natasha a gun pointed at her friend.

"Тата, Не трэба, (Dad, don't)" Yelizaveta said weakly in Belarusian. Her father's eyes warmed slightly.

"Мне жаль, Elizabeth, (I'm sorry)" her father said as he raised the gun at Natasha again.

Her father looked up and Yelizaveta followed his gaze to see Steve running towards him. He jumped up on the car and her father ran his metal fist into Steve's shield, that rang like a gong. Her father kicked Steve off the car and landed flat on his back on the roof. He fired his machine gun at Steve and got down. "No, please," Yelizaveta said softly, gripping her father's boot.

He looked at her briefly. "остановка, (Stay)" her father said sharply as he turned his attention back to Steve. He opened fire and Steve blocked it and jumped over the hood of the car. He kicked her father's flesh arm and raised his shield as her father raised his gun, opening fire. He hit her father in the face and her father put his metal arm on Steve's shield, delivering a blow to Steve's ribs and face. He pulled the shield away from Steve and went behind it. He then threw it into the van door behind Steve. Steve looked at it briefly before continuing his run to her father, who had taken out a knife and flipped it in his hand. Steve dodged and blocked.

"Steve, be careful," Yelizaveta warned weakly, attempting to stand. Her legs felt like concrete blocks and went out from under her, causing her to crash to the ground. She cried out in pain.

"Liz, stay down. You're in no condition to fight," Steve ordered as he dodged knife thrusts. He delivered a roundhouse kick to her father's chest, knocking him into a gray van. Steve knocked him back and punched his face and ribs. The Winter Soldier fought back, but Steve wrapped his arm around his waist and flung him to the ground. Her father grabbed Steve by the throat and pulled him to him before tossing him like a rag doll over the hood of a truck. Her father got on the hood and jumped to land on Steve. Steve moved out of the way so that all her father landed on was concrete, his metal hand breaking it.

Steve tried to deliver more punches, but her father blocked and tossed him into the van where his shield was. . Her father pulled out his knife and kicked Steve into the van. He aimed the knife at his head and Steve gripped his wrist, dragging the knife like fingernails on a chalkboard on the van doors. Steve tossed her father to the ground and grabbed his shield. Her father came back swinging and Steve blocked and her father drove his metal arm into the shield. Steve gripped his metal arm and slammed his shield into her father's face. Steve then grabbed him where his mask was and flipped him head over heels, his mask falling off. Yelizaveta stood dizzily and came to Steve's side.

"You okay, Liz?" Steve asked as they both looked at her father.

"I think so. Whatever he drugged me with is making me feel dizzy and a little sick to my stomach," Yelizaveta said as her father got to his feet and turned. Yelizaveta gasped in shock as she saw her father's face for the first time. Her shock was mirrored in Steve's eyes as well.

"Bucky?" Steve asked. His hair was longer than the newsreels at the Smithsonian, but the man in front of her and Steve, the Winter Soldier, was James Buchanan Barnes! That meant Bucky Barnes was her father and he knew it too! Her father's eyes went to her briefly before going back to Steve, a look of confusion on his face.

"Who is Bucky?" Her father asked as he moved forward. He raised his gun to Steve as Sam swooped out of the air, kicking him to the ground.

"Тата!" Yelizaveta exclaimed. Sam landed and her father got to his feet, his eyes looking around wildly. His eyes locked on hers as Natasha fired her gun and Steve, Yelizaveta, and Bucky ducked. The car behind Bucky exploded and when Yelizaveta straightened her father was gone. Sirens wailed and before they knew it, they were surrounded by Rumlow and his STRIKE team, confiscating their weapons. Steve and Yelizaveta looked at each other in dumbfounded pain as Rumlow made them get on their knees. Apparently Rumlow wanted to kill them, but not in this location as he dragged Steve, Yelizaveta, Sam, and Natasha into a van.
