Author's note: Hello there. Someone mentioned wanting to dip back into Frisk's POV so here we are again. I think it may be nice to get back into this before we presumably reach Undyne next chapter. I am hyped for the Undyne fight, it will be Monika's toughest challenge yet. But in true MoniTale fashion, before we reach the Boss Fight, it's time to dip back into seeing Frisk and The Girls before their Nightmare begins.. oops, I shouldn't have said that aloud ahehe~

So then, without much further ado here comes another short peak into a different reality, Her Reality, in Frisky Frisky Literature Club 04

Disclaimer: I don't own Undertale or Doki Doki Literature Club, however I do own the plot of the story and Our Player.

The next school day passed without much fuss, Frisk didn't check through Yuri's sleeve as she originally promised today, rather she decided to focus on her other Club Members.

You see, she was getting an odd feeling from them now.. like something was.. off about them, not quite in a way that was unnerving or scary, but rather like each one had something inside of them eating away at them. She had initially gotten the idea after uncovering Yuri's secret, and so focused on them while she was in class to see if there was anything else she could see- she was good at picking up on things like that. When she was back in the Underground it was kind of the only reason she continued to live, her ability to pick up on people's traits and use them to assist her in not dying was her most valuable there.

Thusly, it was rather obvious when she started paying attention that the new guy- what was his name again... ah right, MC! It was short for something wasn't it? She hadn't asked.. what was her point again? Oh right, the new guy was kind of a moron. His poem skills were pretty good for a novice- not that she could really talk, she didn't know herself where her new poetry skills had come from- but he was really bad with girls. Really it was kind of obvious, the way he and Sayori hung out.. the way she looked almost like a sad puppy when he went off to read with Yuri (who on the subject of, also seemed pretty comfortable having this guy to lean on, which Frisk found to be a pretty clear indicator that she also had something for him) was a pretty good sign that she had a bit of a crush on the guy. Seeing as it hurt Frisk to see Sayori so.. hopelessly romantic, she decided that would be her next target for assistance. Plus as a natural flirt herself, she figured this would be an easy task for her to complete. Her first idea would be to try and get her and MC together, but that may not be possible thanks to Yuri.. and she didn't want to set Yuri's progress back by taking away her crush, so she might need an alternative...

Additionally she had tried to find something wrong with Natuski... but couldn't! The smallest member seemed to just be a bit off-putting and mean on the outside, but was pretty okay when she got to know her, just never ever call her cute. She indeed has gotten to learn that and more about her since she was one of the few people MC spent the least time with overall.
She found her fascination with Manga to be actually kind of cool, it reminded her of.. an old friend or two. Using her extensive, not entirely by her own volition mind you, knowledge of anime, she and Natsuki quickly became fast friends, talking rather vividly about Manga and the differences between it and various anime adaptations. Although.. she had never heard of Natuski's favorite, Parfait Girls was.. new to her, which simply blew away the smaller girl.

"Whaaaat?! How could you have possibly never heard of Parfait Girls?!" She demanded. "It's the best Manga there is, come on." She crossed her arms.

"Sadly, I can't say that's one I know, probably just didn't have a good anime adaptation." Frisk waved it off, presuming that to be the case.

"Well there was this one in the 90s, but it was terrible.." Natsuki shook her head, suddenly looking a bit sick. "I'm going to run to the.. bathroom." She seems defensive as she stands up, though Frisk thinks nothing of it- assuming she just feels sick suddenly. "We'll talk more when I'm back." She says, waving her off.

Frisk nods and stands, now that Natsuki was gone she should probably use this time to go check in on Sayori, see what could be done over on that front. She scans the room, seeing Sayori in the corner by herself and reading a small book, looking rather adorable, while Yuri and MC were doing that.. thing where they read together. Ahem, she couldn't be one to judge but it seemed a bit, er, quick to the draw. "Oh well." She thought. "As long as they aren't together together I can still help out Sayori." She smiled at the thought of being helpful, something she found a bit.. comforting? Given the odd situation she found herself in, it was nice to be doing something she was more or less familiar with. Although at some stage she really should go about figuring out how to get back home. But who knows, maybe helping these girls out was the way to do it?

For now though she goes over to Sayori, sliding into a chair next to her. "Hey-ori!" She smiles at her little joke.

"Oh, hey Frisk!" Sayori puts up a smile, but it seems weaker than it should be. Only briefly though, as the girl quickly puts more "oomph" into the smile. Frisk pays it no mind, more than likely the girl was just a bit saddened by Yuri and MC getting along so well.

Frisk smiles back. "Whatcha reading?" She asks, pointing at the book cover. "Looks interesting." She adds, just being casual for now.

"Oh, it's a cool book about monsters but they're like nice and stuff... it's kind of hard to explain ahehe..." She giggles and scratches the back of her head, looking a bit silly as she does.

"Nice monsters hmm? I know a thing or two about those." Frisk chuckles, taking a look at the cover. The name and cover weren't at all referential to her time in the Underground, unless you count the addition of a few skeletons on the cover, but they looked normal- not short and wide or wearing a scarf. So she chose to move on. "But why are you reading over here alone? Wouldn't it be more fun to read next to someone so you can share your thoughts? Or even just be around someone?" She asked, still keeping things light for now. No need to go right into "hey I see you're having problems dating, let me help with that *finger guns*", she doesn't feel like going through the whole day or even conversation again.

"Well.. I didn't want to intrude on you and Natsuki.." Sayori admits timidly. "Plus Natsuki doesn't seem to really like normal books." She adds.

"What about MC and Yuri? I'm sure MC would love to hear about your choice of literature." Frisk offered innocently enough. "Yuri and you could even compare books, maybe find something in common?" She asked.

Sayori's features half darkened at the idea. "I.. I dunno Frisk, I don't really think MC would want me to interrupt him right now, and Yuri would be mad if I barged in on their reading time.." She admitted.

"Well... why not just try again tomorrow before they start reading?" Frisk offered. "Or maybe.. I can RESET and try to get it to happen today if I'm fast enough.." She thinks, smirking mentally at least. "Actually, I like that idea quite a lot. It might be able to help get things going easier. Good thing I saved before we shared poems today." Frisk had decided to open up the Literature Club with Poetry sharing today, in an effort to make learning about the girls go by faster and easier. This time however she'll use the time at the start to work on getting Sayori to at least make an attempt to get with MC~!

"I guess that would be okay.." Sayori said timidly, before brightening up a lot with a smile. "But I can share with you now, actually! If you want, I mean." She offers.

Frisk shrugs. "Sure, so what else is in it?"

Sayori smiled and immediately got into talking...

A bit later, or perhaps earlier? Hard to say when it came to time travel, either way, Frisk returned to the save point she had formed directly before sharing poems that day. She took a moment to focus in on the conversations being had, and couldn't help but to giggle when informed of the fact that Sayori had almost set her house on fire once. It reminded her of a certain someone else. In a good way though, Sayori had the nicer qualities of Undyne over the murder-y ones- thankfully.

It was then that she had another memory- dang it! Yuri had brought MC a book for today! Chances were that Sayori's book wasn't going to be quite as thoughtful as Yuri's! But there wasn't anything she could do about that, could she? Not without being mean to Yuri needlessly that was...

She audibly sighed, which caught everyone's attention. "What's wrong with you?" Natsuki asked, crossing her arms. "Don't tell me you brought a gift for him too." She said, turning her head away- oh right, Frisk had undone all of her work on getting Natsuki to like her earlier. Jeez, she really didn't think this through...

"D-Don't be silly! I'm just tired is all." Frisk waves it off.

Natsuki 'hmphs' and strolls to the back of the room, no doubt to pick up her Manga collection from the back- where Frisk saw her get it last time..line.

Frisk hums in thought for a moment, considering what she could do to help Sayori... Well, maybe she should start by talking with her.

"Hey-ori!" She smiles, taking a seat next to the strawberry-haired girl, before noting that she made the same joke as before.

"Oh hey Frisk, is something up?" She asks, clearly excited and happy to see the girl. "Or do you want to talk about.." She glances around before leaning forward and whispering in a conspiratorial voice. "The Festival plans..?"

"The wha?" Frisk cocks her head.

"Uwaaa! You don't remember?!" Sayori exclaims. "We need to start preparing for the Festival, like you said!" She informs her.

Ah.
Frisk had no idea what that was. Still, she continued like she did. "Ohhh yeahhh.." She smiles. "Well I was thinking... we could... do a Literature Contest?" She asked, knowing a Festival was like a party but having zero clue what exact kind of party it was.

"Well that sounds fun.. but we need a reason for people to show up and join up. People will think we're boring compared to the other Clubs..." Sayori pouts at the thought.

Frisk finds it kind of cute, in a way. "That's true." She admits. "Maybe we can offer them something else that will draw them in.." Frisk trails off, thinking.

Sayori perks up. "Food!" She says. "We could use food and that will bring people in. Like.. mmm.. cookies- or-or cupcakes! Or maybe even a cake-"

"How hungry are you right now?" Frisk asks her, leaning over the smaller girl a bit.

"Uh... really hungry..." Sayori admits, pushing her fingers together cutely. "But it's not a bad idea, right?"

"No actually, that works really well and I'm sure Natsuki would adore the chance to show off her skills in front of the whole school." Frisk replied. "And using that, we can loosen people up and get them interested in trying their own hand at writing a poem." She said smoothly, quickly saving the conversation.

Sayori nodded. "Yeah, that works, but won't people still think we're pretty boring compared to other clubs?" Sayori asked, cocking her head slightly left, a motion Frisk couldn't help but to find cute.

"Maybe." Frisk admitted, before holding up a finger to silence Sayori. "But if they think we're boring after snacks then they wouldn't be people who'd join our club anyway. So we don't want them." She smirked.

"Hmmm... I guess that makes sense." Sayori nods. "So we'll have to talk to Natsuki about it sometime." She says, a determined light filling her eyes, one Frisk found amusing for a number of reasons..

Frisk giggles. "Leave it to you to get all determined about food but not about getting ready in the morning." She says, licking her thumb and using it to wipe a slight stain of toothpaste off of her friend's collar.

"Whaaa?! How long has that been there forrr?" She asked, animatedly checking the rest of her uniform for stains.

"Probably about the same amount of time your bow has been out of place for." She smirks and ever so slightly straightens it. "Much better."

"Uwaaaa why didn't anyone say anything all day?" Sayori asked, pouting.

"Probably because they didn't want to embarrass you, but that's not really a problem for us right now. Natsuki and those two are preoccupied." Frisk explains. "Or maybe it's because they were too busy noticing that a certain someone also forgot to button up her blazer." She pointed at it with a smirk.

Sayori shrunk down cutely, blushing. "W-well I didn't think anyone would notice it... I don't usually do it.." She admits, pushing her fingers together again.

Frisk smirked. "Well you know, having an untidy appearance like that isn't a good way to get people to like you." She adds a bit of a flirtatious tone to that one, hinting to Sayori what she meant.

"Oh no! But I want people to like me!"

"Er.. no, that isn't what I meant.." Frisk trails off. "Don't worry too much about it, actually. You look just as cute without your blazer buttoned as with it." She admits, cocking her head and smiling. "You always do."

"Aww thanks Frisk!" Sayori hugs her softly as thanks for the compliments, Frisk hugs her back.. and feels something is.. off as she does. She almost doesn't want to let go of her, as though.. once she does, she'll lose her. Sayori's odd breathing as she embraces the hug doesn't help either but that could simply be due to how the hug was engaged. Her concerns are silly however, and once Sayori lets go, Frisk does the same, feeling refreshed.

And then it was time for them to get to work on sharing poems. Frisk gathers the room together and they share again. It's a bit hard faking her reactions since she's read them all before, but she tries her best and eventually sets MC's down. "This is really well written, I'm surprised at how fast you've caught up. You know, Sayo-" She was going to make an attempt to get him and Sayori together more often, but was interrupted by sudden loud noises.
Or rather, by shouting.

Natsuki and Yuri had been discussing their poems, that much Frisk had known. What she didn't know however, is that Natsuki and Yuri didn't get along very well with each other and someway somehow an argument had been started while she had been dealing with MC.

"Oh?! I didin't realize you were so invested in trying to impress our newest member, Yuri." Natsuki said snidely.

"Th-That's not what I-." Yuri stammered out a response, trying desperately to defend herself. "Y-You're just..." Yuri stands up and crosses her fist over her chest, attempting to look confident and strong. "M-Maybe you're just jealous that MC appreciates my advice more than he appreciated yours!"

"Huh?! And how do you know he didn't appreciate my advice more?" She asked, crossing her arms and forming a haughty expression. "Are you that full of yourself?" She asked.

"I-I!" Yuri stammered before frowning, her expression altering to be slightly... angrier. "If I was full of myself... I would deliberately go out of my way to make everything I do overly cutesy!" Yuri said, causing Natsuki to sharply glare. Frisk winced, she knew what happened when you called her cute.

"Crap, this didn't happen last time since I had them share poems at the start!" Frisk realized. "Natsuki didn't have the ammo needed to make that judgement earlier! This one is my fault, better act fast before Yuri relapses." She thought quickly, stepping over to the pair of girls. "Hey there, what's going-"

"Rrrrr, well you know what? I'm not the one who's boobs magically grew a size bigger as soon as MC started showing up!" Natsuki said, throwing her arms down in a fit of rage.

"N-Natsuki!" Yuri was shocked, appalled even! But now she was angry.

Frisk cleared her throat. "That's enough you two.

"This doesn't involve you!" Natsuki shot Frisk a glare, causing the taller girl to take a slight step back. She'd faced down monsters trying to kill her, yet Natsuki's glare was enough to stop a charging elephant if used correctly.

"I-I agree for once, you shouldn't get involved." Yuri was less enthused since Frisk was helping her, but she still didn't want to stop now.

Frisk's face hardened but the combined looks of Natsuki and Yuri had her freeze up, what could she even say to convince them to stop?

Then both girls took a look at MC, one of the causes of this argument. Yuri was horrified- no doubt at the implication that she was stuffing her bra- Natsuki was livid. "Sh-She's trying to make me look bad!" Yuri said.

"No way! She started it!" Natsuki replies. "None of this would have happened if she could get over herself and learn to appreciate that simple writing is more effective!" Natsuki said, hands on her hips. "What's the point in making your poems so convoluted for no reason anyway?"

"W-Wait! There's a reason we have so many deep and expressive words in our language! It's the only way to explain complex feelings and meaning the most effectively. Avoiding them is not only unnecessarily limiting yourself.. it's also a waste! Surely you understand that, right MC?"

"Uh.." MC looked conflicted. Frisk knew she wasn't going to get anywhere by speaking to the girls, but maybe she could use MC here... He was a fish out of water in this argument, and both had good points. Frisk loved Natsuki's simple writing but heavily appreciated Yuri's writing all the same for exactly the reasons they each laid out here.

He would likely not be judging from reasoning, but on emotion since he doesn't have a leg to stand on here.

She put a hand on his shoulder, causing the boy to look her way. She offered him a smile of reassurance.

"Don't you try to influence him either way!" Natsuki threatened.

"I'm not. I'm just telling him that he doesn't have to decide alone. He can phone a friend if he wants." Frisk says, to both of them. "After all, he doesn't know as much about writing as any of us, isn't that right?" She asks him.

"You're right, Frisk." He agrees. "But.. I honestly think Yuri is right." MC says, turning to them.

Almost immediately, every expression changes. Yuri's eyes sparkle with relief and happiness, Natsuki's burn with rage, Frisk kind of deflates, hoping she could have gotten him to pick her or Sayori, they could resolve the situation without... making it partisan. And Frisk takes a look at Sayori, who's face turns to relief.. but her eyes belay a different story, she's somehow both relieved and.. deeply sad.

"Natsuki, I did like your poem, but it's not an excuse for you to be mean. You can't go around picking a fight just because someone has a different opinion from you." He says, crossing his arms. Frisk might not feel the best about how this went down, but she admits that's kind of how she felt too so she can't argue with his reasoning.

"That's not what happened at all, you're taking her side! She wouldn't even take my poem seriously..." Natsuki looked angrily at the ground.

Frisk stepped up now, taking command of the situation. "Yuri, you should always take someone's poem seriously. They're people too, and they put a lot of effort into their writing." She said.

MC nodded. "Frisk is right, you're a really talented writer but not taking Natsuki's poem seriously isn't right, she put a lot of her heart and soul into that." He said. "That's why she felt threatened when you said her poem was cute."

"I.. see." Yuri was looking ashamed now. "I-I didn't mean- I.. I'm.. I'm sorry.." She turned her face away, further ashamed.

"As for you Natsuki, this wouldn't have happened if you had just explained how you felt. You see how she feels now that she knows, if you had talked to her, none of this would have happened." He says calmly.

"Are you serious? I did explain my feelings, none of this would have-" Natsuki starts getting on the defensive but Frisk cuts her off.

"Natsuki that's enough. It's over with now, Yuri said sorry so now you should too." She says, crossing her arms. "We all said things we shouldn't have, it's the right thing to do to say we're sorry." She says, looking very authoritative as she does.

Natsuki glances down her fists clenching, she looked like she was a cornered animal, trapped and defiantly lashing out because that's all she had left. Frisk moves and places a hand on her shoulder, causing her to look up.. in.. surprise? No, there's something more to her look, but Frisk pushes that thought from her mind. "Nobody will stay mad at you. You had a good point, simple wording works just as well... annnd you have good taste in manga~" She says, smiling sweetly at her. "Which we can talk about.. once you say you're sorry."

Natsuki makes another angry expression... but sighs and gives in. "Hey Yuri." She says, just audibly enough to be heard.

The purple haired girl looks to her rival.

Natsuki takes another breath. "I'm... sorry, you're entitled to having your own opinion." She says, crossing her arms. Clearly wanting to add "even if it's wrong" under her breath, but stopping.

Yuri's face seems to light up a bit more. "I accept your apology." She even offers just a tiny smile. Which has Frisk grinning.

"Yaaaay we're all friends again!" Sayori jumps and grabs each of the four other people, pulling them into a close hug, giggling.

"Ughhh Sayorrri!" Natsuki, being the shortest, makes an attempt to wriggle free, but Frisk holds her in the group hug.

"I appreciate th-the gesture, but- er- uh- oh!" Yuri is also ever so slightly uncomfortable, but she seems to calm down when she realizes that MC and her are pressing shoulders thanks to Sayori's hug.

"Aww this is nice." Frisk smiles, hugging her friends... Her... Friends! She smiles even wider, these were her friends now. Sure, she looked at them as friends before but now.. now it was official. These people... they were more than strangers and acquaintances to her. They were..

Her friends! "I'm so glad we're friends!" Frisk whispers.

"Me too!" Sayori says cheerfully.

"I gotta admit, it's at least not getting dull any time soon." MC admits, he was also smiling, though whether that was because he was squeezed between four girls or because he was having a similar epiphany to Frisk right now was up for debate.

"Uggggghhhhhhhh, yes we're friends, can I be let go now-?" Natsuki asks.

"Hm." Yuri doesn't say much, but she does lean into the hug, her arm snaking behind Sayori and touching Frisk's shoulder. "I'm glad we're friends.. too." She whispers.

Frisk wishes they could stay like that forever, in a snapshot of friendship, looking forward to their future together.

But all good things must end eventually, and shortly thereafter the group let go of each other and started packing up to go home. Frisk considered stopping Sayori, but decided that it might not be in her best interest to work on that for now. The girl's crush on MC was something that Frisk figured would have to go away if she was going to see any improvement in Yuri. Which meant she'd need to get Sayori to get over it.. or get her to reveal it to him and lay all of her cards out on the table. Really the latter may be the better option, there was a chance that MC had something back for Sayori, and as she learned when paring up Alphys and Undyne, all it took to reveal feelings was for one to do so. Yeah, she'd have to work on that.

She watched the pair go as the sun set.

Tomorrow. She decided. I'll help them tomorrow.

Frisk then packed up her backpack and left the room.

The sun begins to set on the Literature Club Room. Slowly but surely, the place envelops into night. The doors click and are locked for the night by a janitor who finishes up his rounds and goes home.

...

Night descended upon the clubroom now fully as the moon passed over the window and high into the sky, enveloping the class in an inky blackness, a dark that was inescapable, a dark that was all encompassing. A dark that blotted out the closet, hiding the manga, a dark that shrouded the desks with itself, a dark that seemed almost to be unnatural.

A dark breached only by a sliver

of red.

"friends? you lost right to have those a long time ago

Partner."

=)

The dark faded as soon as it came. But the red.

The red yet still remained. On the chalkboard, drawn in red chalk was what seemed like an equal sign, with parenthesis at the bottom.

The red still remained.

Having FUN yet?

Anywhoo, review time.

Spellflame: You going to bring the artifact out?

Me: Not originally the plan although that would make sense. But even if I did we'd just have the Annoying Dog steal it lmao. I wonder how that Dog feels about being in someone else's version of his world..

[]

SpiritLink112: Thanks for responding to my comment, yeah it would be a lot of work to go back and change all of that now, I understand and respect that as another someone who has a love/hate relationship with writing. But I'm glad you took the time to read my mini rant and actually thought about it.

Also here to say I really enjoyed this chapter, especially the last scene. And I hope you do stick to your new plan, since I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

Me: Yeah, no prob, I always read and respond to reviews when possible! I love getting feedback on my stories, it's fun and can open my eyes to new perspectives that my readers have that I may not.

I have stuck to it as well as I can, though due to many factors its not very easy. Also I'm glad you loved the final scene, I adored writing it. Seeing my girl happy makes the whole world turn to gold.

[]

Someone369: Finally, an update. Also, quick question, when are we going back to Frisk's POV.
Me: Ask

And ye shall receive. =)

[]

AliceCullen3: LOVE IT!

Me: Love you!

[]

UndertaleAftonUniversePines: Ooo, an upload! I've been waiting fo g-

Anyway, how are you doing? And, one other question, is Monika gonna do a genocide route? Ooo, maybe she could see flashes of the genocide timeline? That would be cool!

Peace!

Me: Ahehe.. I know it takes a lot of time to get one of these normally. But this time wasn't so bad, yeah? Just had to wait a month.

I'm doing good so far, just kind of drifting through life stuff atm. I covered the idea of a Genocide Route in the past, if we do it will be a non-canon story, as for seeing flashes, that's not going to happen.

To Monika.

Peace!

OriChar: it's been so long and considering the time it took, I don't mind that it's not the best, it was still something I was able to enjoy

also (since I normally don't read the review replies, F) would player have a soul, he is in the game in a different situation than Chara, so I don't see a reason for him to not have one (even if he can't pull it out himself) and even when it gets to asriel fight, I could see him being able to see the player and absorb his soul, making an 8 soul being

but that's just a theory

a game theory

Me: Sorry that it's not super good, I struggle to balance writing for the characters and progressing the story at the same time because I don't want to miss any of Undertale's quirks but also I'm not trying to stay in Waterfall for like six more chapters. Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Player does actually have a SOUL, he has something I call a "Glitch" Soul, what exactly it means and why, well, call me back when we hit the Omega Flowey and Asriel Dreemur fights. I'll be less vague about it then.

Nice reference.

[]

: Ive been reading this since it only had 10 chapters, you just earned a follow and favorite, in other words, keep it up!

Me: Thanks man! I'll keep going until this is finished. I have a certain investment in this story that I won't ever let it drop. I'm glad to know you're enjoying it too!

SnowyTheCritic: 300 words? Heh, Well we all know what happens when he makes promises...

(Don't worry guys I'm his friend I can bust his balls a bit)

Me, who's been doing the 300 words thing pretty regularly albeit with breaks and days of zero motivation: Eat your words!

Anyway, that's all for now so
