Now then.

Monika eventually managed to get ahold of herself following the stress of her last encounter with Undyne, her arms coming to rub her shoulders beneath the warmth of the jacket her Player had given her.

She had managed to put it off so far, but the wet and cold of this area was at last starting to get to her. Her shoes and socks were, thankfully, dry since she'd had her Player carry them whenever it seemed like they were going to go into water, but this left her feet unprotected and freezing, her legs didn't fair much better. Sure, it was nicer than Snowdin, almost tropical even, but.. Getting in and out of the cold cave water was... Not very pleasant.

The girl took a final breath and removed her hands from the jacket before sliding the thing back on and zipping it up, looking up towards the starry cave ceiling. What was she going to do when it finally came time? What was she going to do... When it came time to fight Undyne? Monika didn't know, and it.. scared her almost. Did she have the ability to do it? To fight her and potentially even... Kill her?

Once, a long time ago now, she had told her Player that she didn't think she had it in her to actually kill a real person, to really hang or stab someone to death... Was that still true? Was it true then? She turned her head down to examine her hands, the soft fingers and long slender nails that despite having been used so much were pristine, the water having cleaned them of dirt during one of her many splashes into it... But despite being clean on the outside, she couldn't shake the blood off on the inside when she looked at them. She might not have pulled Sayori's noose and hung her herself, and she might not have driven Yuri's knife into her chest.. But she had been responsible for their demises. She had the ability to kill if she had to do it, the resolve to drive others to their death..

Or did she?
Did she really have the resolve to do it... When she was starting to question if the people she was encountering, the people she was facing were... Real?

The others, Sayori, Yuri, Natsuki- even thinking their names was painful to her now- she'd been able to do what she did to them by dehumanizing them, they were lines of code against a white background. Numbers and letters, If Than statements, little more than things to be modified as she saw fit.. But these people.. They felt so much more real than the others did. The fact that she could go off of the script, could influence their reactions in ways that she couldn't with the girls..

Monika didn't know if she could dehumanize them like she had against her Club Members. Which meant...
She didn't think she could kill Undyne, if it came down to it.

Monika shut her eyes and took a breath before looking back to where she had to go next. "Alright." She smiles, hiding her emotions and reflections again, hiding them like she had so long ago. "Lets go."

Monika and Player walk from the little alcove they had found themselves in and back into the water, Monika making sure to take off her shoes, having left the Stockings in Player's care while they were here, before jumping into the foot deep water and spotting a new path going up that she hadn't seen before. Undyne must have hidden it before Monika arrived. Since it was lit up now, that's probably where she went.

She sighed and followed the lights, first climbing back up onto the safety of the incline before walking forward a bit and back into the water, where soft glowing echo flowers provided her the light... and a story as she passed by them, hearing their conversations in passing.

"Hmm.. If I tell you my wish, you promise you won't laugh at me?"

"Of course I won't laugh!"

"Some day... I'd like to climb this mountain we're all buried under. Stand under the sky and.. Look at the world all around.. That's my wish."

"Hahahahah..!"

"Hey! You said you wouldn't laugh at it!"

"Sorry.. Its just kinda funny.. That's my wish, too."

Monika sighed again as she passed them. "I feel bad for them." She admits to Player, looking at him. "I know what its like to be.. Stuck, somewhere I don't want to be." She continues. "But.. I can't help them without dying myself."

"Its hard to think about." Admitted the male, nodding at her. "The Monsters don't seem like bad people, but knowing that killing you is the only way they can be free is..."

"Its the nature of Protagonist/Antagonist relationships." Monika finishes. "Neither of us are truly evil, we both want the same thing- freedom- but.. Both of our freedoms are mutually exclusive to the other." She smiled, sadly. "Whoever wrote the game knew what they were doing when it comes to writing conflict, I have to admit. Because even though I want to help them, I won't let them take my Soul."

"Undertale- the games name I forgot if I told you that- is one of the most beloved games of its time specifically because of its great writing quality." Player admits. "Everyone fell in love with these characters, this world, the story. It's not perfect, nothing ever is, but it's beautiful, everyone had something they could appreciate about it."

"Why did you like it?" She asked as they entered a room with a wooden bridge overlooking the place they'd just came from, Monika had seen it earlier when she looked up.

"Me? I liked the characters. They all just clicked with me in their own ways. No spoilers, but I love all of them. The music is good too. I've listened to some tracks over and over too many times." He chuckles and she laughs as well as they cross the bridge, coming to the end of it-

"Y-Yo!" A voice calls from behind them, and Monika turns to face Monster Kid.

"Hey, are you okay after Undyne dragged you off?" She asked, a little concerned for the kid's wellbeing as he starts to approach her.

"I'm fine.. I'm not really supposed to be here.. But.. I wanna ask you a question.. Y-You're a human, right?" He asks, looking at her with sad, disappointed eyes. He already knows the answer, she can tell, but he's hoping that maybe she'd say otherwise.

"I am." She nods at him. "You knew that before though."

"Y-Yeah..." He nods. "Oh man this sucks! Because.. I guess that makes you and me enemies or something.." He then gives out a little chuckle, a sad one for a kid. "But I kinda stink at that... So... Like.. Can you say something mean so I can hate you?" He asked, looking up at her.

Monika smiles softly as the kid, and rather than speak, she puts her hand on his head, rubbing it softly. "Its okay." She tells him. "We can be enemies if that will keep you out of trouble."

"Y-You mean it?" He looks even sadder than he did before, his face falling as he looks down at their feet. "Man... I feel like a huge turd. I.. I'm gonna go home now." He turns to leave her, running away and trying really hard to keep himself from crying since without hands it's really hard to wipe his face-

But as he goes, he suddenly trips over his feet and falls, managing to catch himself with his chin on one of the rungs leading down the bridge. "W-Help I tripped!" He shouts out, fear etched into his voice.

"Don't worry!" Immediately, Monika was fully serious, her instincts as a human seeing a small child in danger kicking almost automatically and propelling her towards the kid-
But suddenly, she stopped dead in her tracks and looked forward, seeing and hearing an armor-clad figure step onto the bridge and stare over at her.

Undyne.

She took a glance between Undyne and Monster Kid, looking down at the poor kid, who's grip was loosening as time passed. He didn't have much longer before he fell off of the bridge, and she didn't have to guess at what would happen if he fell from this height. No flowers to break his fall.

So the woman narrowed her eyes at Undyne, who seemed stunned as well but moved forward after a second, the heavy armor weighing her down. Undoubtedly she was coming for her.

Monika's SOUL burned with bright pink Passion as she ran towards the kid and crouched down, grabbing him by the shoulders and lifting him up, setting him down on the bridge.

She looked at Undyne for a moment, who stared at her, stunned.

"Y-You saved me!" Monster Kid said, looking at Monika in surprise.

She nods at him, giving a small smile before refocusing on Undyne. "You're welcome. You get home, Monster Kid. Your parents are probably worried sick about you." She tries to keep the fear from etching into her voice, but fails as she stares down the predator before her.

"Are you.. Sure?" He asks. "I-I- I won't let you hurt my friend!" He turns to face Undyne now, shocking Monika as she looks down at him. "If you want to get to her then... Then I'll fight you first!"

The Guardswoman stared at the kid for a moment, and though Monika couldn't see into her helmet she could see that she was stunned- surprised even by the child's choice to stand up to her. After a moment, no doubt trying to decide her options, Undyne backs away and turns around, leaving.

The kid turns back to her, seeming... Even sadder than before. It wasn't hard for Monika to guess at why, the young boy had just been forced to tell his hero off, to sacrifice a lot of his image in Undyne's mind for Monika's safety. But, rather than hold on his sad expression, the child looked back up to her and smiled. "Wow.. I really stood up to Undyne!" He seemed surprised at himself, and Monika again placed her hand on his head, giving him an affectionate pat.

"You were very brave to do that for me. Thank you." Even if she didn't need it, it was probably a good idea to give the kid some thanks for his efforts. He really was very brave to stand up to Undyne like that. "If you keep stuff like that up, maybe one day you'll be able to be the hero little kids will look up too." She chuckles, and the kid laughs too, looking a bit happier.

"Nah, I'll be even cooler! You'll see!" He beams up at her before suddenly perking up, as if realizing something. "Oh, right, haha. I really need to get back to my parents, so goodbye!" He turns and scampers off, careful not to trip this time.

Once he's gone, Monika sighs happily. "Cute kid." She admits, before chuckling to herself. How many times is she gonna say that?

Monika decides not to think long about that as she turns away, back to the direction she was going in this entire time and starts off again. As they enter another section of cavern, Monika suddenly looks up, noticing a bit of hot air woosh through her from here, pushing away the colder air momentarily. "That's probably a good sign." She says to Player, who nods.

"We're getting closer to the next zone I think."

"Which is a fun way of telling me that we're getting close to having to fight Undyne directly, isn't it..."

"Yeah.." He replies, sounding a little concerned. "If you want a tip on fighting her... For this one, I wouldn't mind giving you one."

"I wouldn't mind the help." She admits, her voice a bit frightful as well. "But if you think I'll get it on my own then don't tell me unless things get really bad. That way you won't compromise your promise not to help immediately, only if things get really.. Really scary..."

Suddenly, a voice shouts down from above them. "Really scary huh?" Monika looks up to follow the voice, and sees Undyne standing above her, looking down. "Let me tell you something even scarier." She continues, a low growl making up her voice as she speaks. "Seven. Seven Human SOULs are needed to break the Barrier and free all Monsterkind. Six, we currently hold Six human SOULs. Do you get it yet? Through your seventh SOUL, this world will be transformed, and at last, all Monsters will see the sun again." She states. "Now, lets get to the scary part, as I tell you the tale of my people, as is customary for those who get this far..." Undyne trails off, as if thinking to herself about something. "..." Suddenly, her head turns down at them. "No, you know what?" Music suddenly kicked into gear, putting Monika into a defensive position as she looked up at the now much louder and much more angry sounding knight above. "SCREW IT! WHY SHOULD I TELL THAT STORY, WHEN YOU'RE ABOUT TO DIE? NGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!" Undyne's hands whipped up and she removed her helmet, throwing it far into the air and off into the distance somewhere else.

"YOU!" She shouted, now looking down and giving Monika and Player a good idea of her face, the light blue skin and glimmering yellow eyes glaring down at them. "YOU'RE STANDING IN THE WAY OF ALL OUR HOPES AND DREAMS! Alphy's history books made me think humans were cool, with their giant robots and flowery swordswomen.." She trails off. "And you.. Live up to my expectations! That kid might have stood up for you back there, but you told him to run off fully prepared to fight me then and there! Even with that little goodie-two shoes act you put on! You think hugging random strangers and playing silly songs in the middle of a cave is really helping anyone but yourself? Well, you know what would be more valuable to everyone? IF YOU WERE DEAD!" She grins evilly down at them now, pointing at Monika with a spear. "That's right human! Your continued existence is a crime! Your life is all that stands between us and our freedom!"

Monika cringed at that, not because the words were cringe inducing, but because it sounded very... Familiar to her. She once saw her own friends as standing between herself and freedom, and Undyne was echoing some of the same sentiments as she did, just for different- less selfish- reasons.

"Everyone in the whole Underground, I can feel our hearts beating together! We've been waiting for this moment our whole lives, but we're not nervous at all! Because when we put our hearts together, we CAN'T lose!" Undyne readied herself. "Now human, lets end this here and now! Step forward, and prepare to take me on!"

Monika took a breath and held her hand in front of her chest. A light Pink Heart appeared over her chest and in her hand, warmth filled her core, she was filled with Passion.

She took a step forward.

"Alright then! No more running away! Here I come, NGAAAAAAH!" Undyne jumped from her perch and onto the ground, driving a spear into it and causing the world to darken around them.

Once the battle physics took hold, Undyne waved her spear in front of Monika, turning her SOUL green in color, as well as placing some kind of energy spear against her feet, trapping the girl and preventing her from moving from her spot. "En Garde!" Undyne called out.

"Right, this is new... Alright, check!" She called to Player, who nodded.

"Undyne, 7 ATK and 0 DEF." He replies quickly. "The Heroine who never gives up."

"Oh well this should be fun.." She muttered to herself at the line below her stats, clenching her fist within the boxing glove and putting both hands up to block.
Before anything happens however, Undyne throws down a Spear that turns green when it gets close enough to Monika's Green SOUL. "What?" She asks, picking it up. "Why are you giving this to me?"

"As long as you're Green you can't get away! Unless you learn to face danger head on you won't last a SECOND against me, and without that spear you can't exactly face the danger, can you?!" Undyne replies to her, before sending the arrows at Monika from all sides.

Monika quickly used her new Spear to deflect the first wave of spears away from her, sending the arrows deflecting into the ground or into the sky above. She does this a few times, quickly spinning her entire body around to do so. She might be athletic, but this form of exercise is foreign to her- she's not used to having to whirl around like a ballet. Unfortunately for Monika, this means she ends up taking a spear to the back, causing her to lurch forward and grit her teeth a little bit before looking up at Undyne with a small glare.

"Face danger head on? Okay, I think I know how to do this then..." She holds the spear close to her for a moment before pulling back her hands and throwing it at Undyne, the spear glancing off her armor but still managing to do minor damage.

The weapon reappears in Monika's hands directly after, proving to her that it won't vanish if she loses it. Good to know for later, but Monika doesn't have much time to think about that as suddenly another volley of arrows comes at her.

Undyne chuckles. "You're the first Human to come down here who wasn't a kid, so I guess I don't have to pull my punches too badly against you!" She explains, and as Monika barely manages to deflect the second wave of three arrows in front and two on each side, a golden arrow comes from behind her, prompting Monika to spin around to block it only to be stabbed yet again in the back when the arrow flies over her head and strikes her in the hip again, causing her to wince in pain and nearly fall over if it weren't for the strange magic keeping her locked into place.

"We... We don't need..." Monika thinks about diplomacy but recalls back to what Undyne had to say about her, how her mere existence was a crime that she could only pay in blood for. Talking it out isn't going to work with her, but maybe she can get her to go easier? "I don't want to fight you."

"Good, THEN DON'T!" Undyne replies, swiping her Spear in front of Monika and freeing her SOUL and body, but only so that she could summon spears up from below her.

Monika let out a yelp and quickly jumped away from that spot, happy to use the battle physics to her advantage, but the barrage of spears were not only taller than before, they weren't localized to one spot- a fact that she only now reminded herself of when the next spear started forming below her, prompting the girl to kick off the previous retracting spear and away from the next-
Only to be hit by the spear coming from below, causing her to be skewered.

Her eyes widened and she let out a cough as she hit the ground with a heavy thump, blood dribbling now from her lips. These attacks were piercing, unlike either Toriel or Papyrus, who burned and bruised respectively, these attacks felt very real and with very heavy killing intent.

The girl managed to pick herself up, and was aware of the fact that she couldn't afford to take many more hits like that. "C-Cinamon Bun..." Monika whispered, standing herself back up and holding her hand out.

Player's hand shook when he handed her the Monster Food, and Monika was temporarily reminded that even if this was a game, she didn't have all of the power to save herself from death here. Her own mortality was something she didn't think she'd have to face for a long time, but now...

No, she couldn't think about that stuff right now, she had to focus. She ate the Cinnamon Bun and felt her health and wounds restore, although some of them still ached. She wasn't back to full, but she didn't have any time to think about that now as suddenly a dozen spears erupted from around Undyne and flew at her, forcing the girl to jump from her perch on the ground and narrowly avoid the group of spears.

However, all around her more spears were forming and being shot at her, aiming for where she was right that second... But not where she would be if she moved- NOW! She quickly used the battle physics to her advantage, avoiding the spears by floating around in the air, kicking off of nothing thanks to the physics provided to her. In a way, it was like she was flying, it would have been fun if it weren't for the incredible danger she was in.

Suddenly, that weightless feeling would be roughly and unceremoniously dropped as Undyne waved her Spear again, reverting Monika's SOUL back to its Green color and causing the girl to come plummeting back to Earth. Thankfully since it wasn't an attack, there was no damage, but it did knock the wind out of her as she managed to stand, and once she did her feet were locked in to where she stood.

Undyne grinned down at her again and Monika glared forward. "Do you think you'll be able... To win a war with humanity when the time comes? You didn't do very well in the last one." She tries appealing to her sense, figuring that maybe Undyne could be reasoned with that way.

"HA! Last time we only had the power of One Human SOUL, we fought with honor and tried not stealing your SOULs in fights, but this time we won't have to worry about that at all!" Undyne's grin grows darker. "Once we have your SOUL, Asgore will become like a God and with that power there won't be anyone anywhere who can stand to us. Least of all you humans!" She explains. "We'll wipe the surface clean and reclaim it for ourselves, and maybe we'll stuff your kind down here for years, see how you like it!" Undyne shouts, summoning a horde of the yellow colored spears.

Monika barely manages to react, trying to block one but realizing that she has to whirl around to block it, managing to do so just barely, only to be stabbed into by one from her side. She flipped on instinct to bat at it and swung at empty air. Monika's brain worked on overdrive, trying to think about where and when the attacks would be coming from, and managing to catch up with and deflect the final two, one which flips over to try and hit her back again while the other moves to her right from her left.

When all is said and done, Monika's hair is starting to come out of place and she looks frazzled and injured, but still stands. "You..." She shuts her eyes, she can't waste her turn on talking.

"I won't let you stop me from reaching the Surface." Monika whispers, her eyes filling with Passion as she pulls back the spear and throws it with all of her might, the weapon sailing through the air and slicing against Undyne's cheek as she barely manages to move her head out of the way.
The spear returns to Monika's hand as she sees numbers pop up in front of her, she didn't do much damage and Undyne has a strong health bar, but that's fine. "You're standing in the way of MY Hopes and Dreams." Monika's voice is filled with resolve as she speaks, readying herself for another attack from the Monster.

Undyne chuckles, holding her face which didn't bleed, but had a new scar that rubbed dust on her cheek.
"I was wondering when you'd finally start hitting back. You've been a goody two-shoes this whole time, glad to see its not ALL SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS UP THERE, NGAAAAAAAH!" She points her spear up and then down at Monika, summoning forward a series of spears that fly down in front of the teenager, prompting her to lift her spear and deflect them.

Another volley is then directed to her back, forcing Monika to turn around even faster than she has been this whole time- Undyne is speeding up her attacks! The girl manages to block all of those but suddenly is accosted from both her left and her right by two sets of three, forcing Monika to alternate her spear between both sides.

Feeling the air change behind her, the girl whirls around to see a slow moving spear coming her way, and senses the air change behind her again, causing the girl to face forward towards Undyne just in time to be stabbed by one spear and block the others.

Blood dribbles from her mouth again and her clothes and body now have cuts and small arrow-shaped indents in them. Calling them holes would be incorrect, as her flesh seems to be technically fine, even if she was bleeding. Monika manages to fling her spear around, blocking the last one.

"Crab Apple." She holds her hand out for her Player to hand it to her.

He does but speaks. "Monika I-"

"No, I know what to do..." She bites into it and her wounds heal up, meanwhile Undyne chuckles and turns her SOUL back to Pink before hurling her hand held spear at Monika, causing her to jump away as more spears appeared, this time coming from above her and raining down.

Thinking fast, Monika dodges between the spears like rain, and lands on the ground in time for the attack to end, glaring at Undyne as she readies her own spear again.

"That look on your face..." Undyne leers at her, primal and animalistic excitement written on her eyes, this was the fight of her life and anyone watching could tell it. "You're really determined to beat me, huh? I guess you really do have some kind of dreams going on up there."

"Yeah, I'm going to get out of this cave and go back to my Boyfriend." Monika replies. "AND I'M NOT GONNA LET YOU STOP ME!" She charges forward this time, her SOUL blazing with a Pinkish color as she rushes towards Undyne, stabbing her directly.

The spear pierces through the armor with relative ease, and stabs into Undyne who stumbles back as the magic construct fades from her chest and returns to Monika's hand. More numbers dance in front of Monika's eyes as this happens, informing her that this was a critical hit. Some small part of her takes... Satisfaction from that. She'd been chased, harassed, and nearly killed and now she was finally hitting back against someone who not only deserved to be hit back against, but outright seemed to want her to do it. The feeling brought a small smirk to her own features.

"Heh..."

The satisfaction died where it stood on Monika's face, her smirk dropping as Undyne started to laugh, crying with laughter in fact!

"Hahahahahahahahaha! You're boyfriend? That's what you're standing between everyone's hopes and dreams for? Some guy? Pffft-" Undyne continued to laugh for a moment before suddenly she herself became serious, glaring at her. "That's such a shallow reason. Everyone in the Underground is down here suffering, unable to have even half of the luxuries of the surface world. Fresh air, sunlight, a future!" Undyne formed another Spear in her hand and pointed it at her. "If you think I'm going to let you take away everyone's hopes and dreams over some high school crush, you've got another thing coming to you!"

Monika went on the defensive, gripping her blade and narrowing her eyes. "I'm sorry about your people, but you're not keeping me away from the person I love!" Her SOUL Burned.

*The Savior is Determined

*The Heroine is Filled with Passion

*The True Battle begins.

Monika's SOUL burns hot as Passion rips from her form, creating a small barrier of flame around her body, and she moved towards Undyne.

Undyne meanwhile grinned with righteous fury and extended her Spear downwards, summoning about a dozen smaller spears and hurling them at Monika, forcing the girl to duck and-
Wait.. That's right! Monika smirked as the Spears which touched her burned away, and the one in her hand turned a pinkish color, filling in an equal amount with Passion. She reached Undyne quickly and unleashed another set of slashes against the woman, easily cutting through her armor and into her skin with little effort, each slash coming back with flecks of dust before Undyne finally managed to react, using her own spear to deflect Monika's attack and push her away before suddenly swapping her SOUL to green...

"Wait, what?" Or trying to, anyway. Monika was so full of Passion that Undyne's SOUL Manipulation magic was ineffective. "Grr, it DOESN'T MATTER! Alphys told me that humans were determined, and I guess she wasn't wrong about that... Looking at you now I can tell that nothing short of killing you is gonna get you off of this path, but I'm determined too, determined to end this RIGHT NOW! DODGE THIS!" Undyne summoned all of her magic and narrowed her eyes, summoning a circle of spears around Monika and shooting them down at her.

Monika didn't know how to escape these, and so she blocked. A number of the spears were burned away, but a few of the magical weapons did manage to stab her, causing her some pretty heavy pain.
But Undyn's attack hadn't finished yet, and another set of spears appeared around her. This time, Monika looked around at them and between them, kicking herself off of the ground and into the air to dodge them. Another set appeared around her and she pushed through them the same way, but was too fast and not accurate enough- taking a slash against her arm.

Undyne was starting to sweat, and she grit her teeth even more, pulling back her arm and throwing her primary spear at the teenager and into her, skewering her in a way that would certainly have killed any other human.

But the magic faded and Monika floated to the ground, extending her hand out again. "Nice Cream!"

"Monika listen, fighting Undyne isn't the way-"

"I know." She tells him. "I figured that fighting her was too easy of a win, there's something else going on here that I'm not seeing..." Her body was alight with Passion, and she panted heavily. "But.. I want to try and do this, just so I know I can fight them if it ever comes to that. I don't... I don't think I can kill her, but I can't let her beat me either."

"Monika..."

"Let me do this, okay?" She looks at him. "I have to be able to... I don't think I'll make it much farther if I can't defend myself, plus..." She cupped her SOUL in her hand. "I have to use the power up while I've got it, right? Video game rule number one... And don't worry, I'm working on figuring out her Spare method on my own."

He handed her the Nice Cream and she snacked on it, feeling her health return to the max. "Fine, but be careful, you're low on items now."

"Right." She nodded and kicked off once again.

"RRGH! I SAID, RIGHT NOW!" Undyne knew this fight was taxing her stamina, and it was getting so hot in this armor, the heat radiating from Hotland didn't help either, this wouldn't end well if the fight dragged on much longer. She wouldn't... She WOULDN'T let her take away everyone's Hopes, all of their DREAMS! "NGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Undyne let out a roar of rage and summoned a huge volley of spears, more than two dozen forming behind her. "This... Is my... Ultimate attack! Survive this you human RUNT!" Undyne sent all of the spears at Monika, the volley arcing towards her- and was struck by how much this reminded her of her Animes. Monika even looked like one of those badass women she'd see in Anime, schoolgirl skirt and all.
The parallel made her grin, and gave her the strength to modify her Ultimate Attack a little bit... Raising her Spear up and summoning a few spears along the ground to shoot up.

Monika noticed the spears coming at her feet as she ran and leapt into the air, crossing her arms to block and letting her Passion overflow through her! Burning brighter and hotter! Hot enough to turn some of the Spears bright pink, causing them to flow through her harmlessly and shoot back at Undyne, however some of the spears were simply melted away by her aura, while more still kept coming and coming and eventually shattering through her barrier, causing her to cry out in pain... But she narrowed her eyes and grit her teeth, her aura burning brighter, hotter than before! The Pink of her Soul caused the spears sending her back to shoot away from her, allowing her to rush towards the rest of the spears, ducking and weaving through them. At this point, she was getting really low on health, and she knew it, she couldn't afford any more attacks from the fish woman, and so she avoided the rest of them, barely managing to dodge past the mass of spears and pull her hand back.

Undyne meanwhile had deflected the spears that Monika's SOUL had turned against her, and was now reeling her own hand back as the flame aura-d girl came closer. Undyne grinned, even if the entire Underground was in danger... Even if her very life was in danger, she couldn't help but to feel... EXCITED!

"NNNNNNNNNGGGGGAAAAHHH!" She threw her entire body into the throw, sending her spear up at Monika.

Monika however didn't return fire with her own Spear, instead avoiding Undyne's final attack by floating above it and kicking off of the spear, going higher into the cavern wall before at last throwing her spear down at Undyne! Skewering her!

The Monster took a lot of damage from this attack, and dust coated her fingers as she moved to cover her wound- but wait, the spear hadn't reformed in Monika's hand yet! Was her attack not over?

No, it wasn't! Monika came down upon her, placing her boots on the ground and yanking back the spear, making sure it hurt for a second time before kicking Undyne away.

The Knight landed a bit away from her and grit her teeth. Standing was becoming too difficult... Too... Too... Her knees gave out beneath her and she finally dropped, holding her chest and body.

Monika stood above her, pointing the spear down. "Its... Done..." She whispered.. "Give up... I don't want... I don't want to kill you."

Undyne looked up at her, confused. "But I was... I was trying to kill you! More of this... goody-two shoes schtick? Are you serious?"

"I am... I might not be a good person, but I want to be one..." She admits to herself. "And part of that..." Monika's SOUL shone brighter. "Is.. Forgiving people. You're not a bad person either, Undyne. You fought for all of your people's hopes and dreams. I really am sorry for you, but I can't let you take my SOUL, I have dreams and hopes too, and they aren't all tied to Him. I want to have a fulfilling career, a family. I want to be a better person than I was... Now... Give up, I don't want to kill.. ever again."

Undyne glared up at her... But couldn't move. She was too injured, and she was out of magic.

"Ghk... Well... I..." Spears tried to form around her but they flickered out of existence almost immediately. "I... I-" Suddenly, Undyne's head fell, and she breathed a sigh. "It isn't over between us.. Next time we fight Human, next time... I'll slay you for real, and protect everyone's hopes and dreams!" Undyne forced herself to stand and hobbled away, heading towards Hotland, heading for Alphys. She'd get stronger there, just like in all of her animes, and next time... Next time she'd definitely win.

As for Monika, she dropped to her knees at last as well, driving her spear into the ground and leaning on it, panting from exertion. At last...
She did it.

Author's Note: At last... I did it. We're finally moving out of Waterfall and into Hotland. I hope everyone had fun with that final battle, because I certainly had a lot of fun putting it together. My only gripe is the ending, but unfortunately I was struggling to come up with a satisfying conclusion after so much hype, so I hope all of you enjoyed what did come and hope that my next big hype battle (cough, asgore, cough cough) will have an even more spectacular ending. But speaking of Spectacular, we've still got a Star to go through before we fight the big man himself.

In any case, Review time...

Guest: Really creative subversion of the concert event, I am really digging these original scenarios. Once again, good job! I look forward to more!

Me: Thanks! I'm glad you like them and I hope to include more and more little events where I can. There are a few spots I can possibly work them in.

Guest: *The smell of bones and fluffy fur fill the area, it fills you with PASSION.

Ok, now THAT was a good scene, if this fic has more original fights and scenarios like that, then this is something worth reading and then some. Good job, truly!

Me: Ohohohoho, I hope you enjoyed this version of the Undyne fight then, I took it in a new direction than I think you may have been expecting.

Finwee Lord of Long Winds: happy b-day

Me: *Leans over, listens to what Monika has to say before leaning to you.* Monika says thank you.

Cornelius McMuffin:

Me: What..? What?

IllusionSign: Oooooooh! This. Is. Amuyzing!

(That spelling of "amazing" is an inside joke btw. Don't question it.)

Me: Thank you, thank you, I try really hard.

AliceCullen3: LOVE IT!

Me: LOVE YOU!
