The bell rang and everyone was in their seats, albeit a tab bit uncomfortable for Bakugo and Kirishima, who wriggled around slightly. Shota had been up since six-thirty and was grateful that it was a Friday. He had a lot of hero licensing material to get through, but first, he had to make an announcement: anyone caught smoking would get a three day detention and a spanking. At this point, it was more than a hunch- he found a pack, half-finished, outside the front doors of Class 1-A's dormitory. He ran it past the other Sensei on the first floor, Midnight- it was not hers.
He slammed the pack down on the podium.
"Two points for today's homeroom to anyone who can tell me what this is." He said.
Tenya Iida raised his hand tentatively.
"Yes." Shota called on the boy.
"Those are cigarettes- illegal for consumption of minors under the age of twenty in Japan." Iida said, putting his arm down.
"Very good. Now." Aizawa said, narrowing his eyes. "Ten points added to your final exam if you tell me who is smoking them. I want the names and I want to know when the students are using them. You have until the end of tonight to tell me before I launch an investigation."
Todoroki swallowed. Bakugo scoffed and leaned back in his chair. Kirishima winced. Kaminari looked at the floor.
"Finally, when you are caught, it's a paddling and three days detention with no phones."
He pocketed the cigarettes and picked up a piece of chalk before diving into the lesson plan.
First period was English with Hizashi Yamada, Present Mic. They had a test that day. Then they had Math and lunch was called to order. The students left for the cafeteria.
Todoroki caught up to the "Bakusquad" which was the group of friends that was close to Katsuki: Jiro, Ashido, Kaminari, and Kirishima.
"Hey, well if it isn't our dealer, Shoto." Kirishima laughed. "Yeah, Denki almost left to meet us last night, but he saw Bakugo dearest here get caught. Cost him and me the skin of our ass."
"Yeah." Todoroki said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry you guys got caught."
Kaminari looked like he was going to talk next. He did. "So, uh, we need another pack."
Ashido laughed. "Yeah, Mr. Aizawa took your old one. Half-full, too!"
"Always the optimist. I'm a pack-half empty kinda girl." Jiro joked.
There was silence and the group stopped. Katsuki frowned. "Todoroki- you're good to grab us another, right?"
Shoto panicked. "About that-"
Bakugo frowned, he wrapped his arm around Todoroki. "Look. Spankings don't hurt that bad."
"You cried." Kirishima harshly whispered, but only so that Katsuki could hear. Bakugo frowned, somehow harder, in return.
"Just get us a pack one last time and I'll see if I can talk some sempai into it next time. Besides, we're all addicted now." Katsuki guilted Todoroki.
They arrived at the dining hall, but Shoto was no longer hungry. He had a lot to decide on- he was no stranger to spankings. Endeavor had a heavy hand, raising Shoto in particular.
That evening, Aizawa prepared to sweep the teenagers' rooms on Sunday. He sat at his desk, Yamada sitting at his own desk, adjacent.
A knock sounded on the door. Hizashi heard it through his headphones. Shota stepped out into the private suite and then out to meet the knocker. It was Midoriya.
"I don't care about the points..." He said, head hung low. "They're behind the sport's shed across campus. I can't tell you the names. I just can't snitch." Izuku sniffed. He had his fists balled up and shoulders tense. Aizawa nodded.
"Thank you, Midoriya. Please return to your room."
Aizawa closed the door as the boy turned around and went to fetch Mic. "Let's go. They're behind the equipment shed by the track."
"This really bothers you, doesn't it, Shota?" Hizashi asked before he nodded. "Let's go save some lungs."
Todoroki hated using his flames, but he lit the end of the cigarettes and tossed the pack to Bakugo. "I'm done buying them now, okay?" He went to light Kaminari's, but he couldn't.
"Performance issues?" Denki mocked.
"Shit!" Kirishima cursed. "Think about it!"
"My quirk..." Shoto trailed off. "It won't work!" he panicked.
Bakugo rolled his eyes and stomped out the cigarette before the others did the same, hurriedly.
It didn't matter.
They were caught.
Kaminari tried to loop off to the side, but he was seized by the back of his jacket by Present Mic.
"Going somewhere?" Yamada asked, marching the boy over to where the others stood with their hands up. Bakugo handed over the pack and as the leader of the bunch, stepped forward to follow Eraserhead back to the dorms.
Meanwhile, Midoriya pulled himself away from the common room windows, where the boys were seen walking back in a cluster of disappointment and anger. He looked to see a few of his close friends.
"You did the right thing." Ochaco Uraraka said. "I know it sucks, but they've been smoking for two weeks now. I just know they're addicted, too." She sighed.
Midoriya still felt bad. "Yeah." He said. "But I think Kacchan knows that I narced... He saw me staring out the window."
Uraraka looked to Tsu, who shrugged. "They had it coming. Ochaco's right. You did what was asked. Plus you get the extra points."
Silence. Izuku looked saddened. "We've known each other for so long and all he does is HATE me..." He flopped down on the couch onto his back. Uraraka scooted over and placed his head in her lap. He continued. "But I can't help but support him. He's... grown so much. He's the only other student from my middle school. I really want to be his friend- no, I want to watch him become a hero, too."
Back downstairs, the boys were silently sitting in the discipline room. The paperwork was the worst part, but they signed out their statements. Shoto Todoroki was especially nervous for two reasons- one, he wasn't sure if buying them with his older brother's ID over his phone was a better or worse crime than smoking them himself, and two, Enji Todoroki, his father, was quick to act on corporal punishments. He wasn't very nice about it, either.
Mic bargained with Aizawa that HE would do the paperwork- all of it- if Aizawa did the paddling. They discussed things outside from their dorm's suite- the room outside of their bedroom, where they often watched TV. Okay, well, when they could relax and watch TV. Mic had his laptop up with the security monitor on the discipline room. It appeared the boys were still writing.
"I can do the dirty work if you want the tediousness of bureaucracy, sure-" Aizawa began. "But you usually don't mind having to dole out the re-compensation. What's going on, 'Zashi?"
Mic shrugged. "It's one thing when the student takes it over my knee, bare- I can gauge it better. I just don't want to go too hard or too soft on the kids. It takes a fair amount to bruise with a hand, but with a paddle it's so sudden."
Shota checked the laptop. Todoroki looked like he was the only one still writing. "Okay." Aizawa agreed. "Sounds fair."
They closed the laptop and Eraserhead was inbound to the room. He opened the door and the boys looked up with different expressions: bored, angry- the smart ones looked scared.
"Turn in what you have. You will be called from your rooms. The terms of the grounding start tonight and continue through tomorrow, Saturday, the next day, Sunday and one school day, Monday. No phones, but you can keep your laptops." Groans from the boys. "I suggest you study." Aizawa glared, before continuing. "You are not to leave your rooms. At all. For anything other than to use the bathroom, of course. We'll start with Kaminari. Everyone else is dismissed."
