The next morning Rick sleeps in; he gets up and finds that Carol had washed his clothes. He thanks her and then goes looking for Lori, but instead, he saw Kagome by the fire with Carl making breakfast. He changes course and walked over to Kagome, "Good morning, Kagome. Good morning, Carl."

"Morning, Dad."

"Good morning, Rick."

"How did you sleep, Kagome."

"Alright, you?"

"Same. Carl, why don't you find your mom?"

"Okay, Dad"

After Carl left, Rick sat down next to Kagome, "So I was thinking of the man that we left back on the roof yesterday."

"Yeah, so was I, we need to go back and get him, Rick. It's not right to leave him up there to die."

"I know it isn't, but I was going to ask you to stay here."

Kagome furrowed her, brow, "Why?"

"Because I wanted to ask you to protect my family. I know that with your powers, you'll be able to handle the Walkers."

"And what powers are those, Rick?"

"Come on, Kagome, I saw what you did to those Walkers in Atlanta. I don't know how you did it, but all I know is that you're powerful, and we can use your help."

"Oh, so that's the only reason you want me around, because of my skills?" Kagome said indignantly.

"No, I want you around because you're my friend, and I care about you. I don't want anything to happen to you out there by yourself. Please, Kagome, don't leave."

Kagome sat there, remembering the times that Inuyasha treated her like she was nothing more than a jewel detector and never once showed his appreciation. Her eyes started to well up with tears, and she got up and walked away, "Kagome!" Rick called after her, but Kagome ignored him. She went back into her tent and laid down.

Rick sighed, perhaps he went about it the wrong way. He didn't mean to insinuate that all Kagome was good for was her skills. Rick valued more than that about her. He appreciated her kindness, bravery, her compassion. There were so many things that Rick admired, and he did consider Kagome, a friend. Rick hung his head in shame and heaved himself to his feet and went looking for Lori. What he didn't realize was that Lori had seen the entire thing with him and Kagome. She seethed with anger and thought that Rick was having an affair with Kagome.

Rick finally found Lori and told her that he had decided to go back for Merle. They get into an argument when they suddenly hear Carl and Sophia calling for help. Rick and the men rush over and see that a Walker is eating the carcass of a deer but has turned on Carl and Sophia when he heard them shouting. The men begin beating the Walker with shovels trying to beat it back when an arrow comes out of nowhere and hits the Walker in the head. They turn to see Kagome standing there with her bow, "You need to go for the brain, guys," She turns and goes back into her tent.

A little while later, they hear a twig snap and whirl around to see Daryl Dixon come out of the woods, "Son of a bitch. That's my deer! Look at it. All gnawed on by this… filthy, disease-bearing, motherless poxy bastard!"

Daryl then kicks the body of the Walker, "Calm down, Son, that's not helping," Dale tells him.

"What do you know about it, old man? Why don't you take that stupid hat and go back to "on golden pond"? I've been tracking this deer for miles. Gonna drag it back to camp, cook us up some venison. What do you think? Do you think we can cut around this chewed up part right here?"

"I wouldn't risk it," Shane told him.

Daryl sighs, "Damn shame; I got some squirrels though, about a dozen of them, I guess that will have to do."

Daryl looked at the Walker with the arrow going through the back of the head and coming out of the eye. He pulls it out, "Nice shot, who did it?"

"That was Kagome," Rick said.

"Who's that," Daryl asked, then he looked at Rick, "Who the hell are you?"

Rick was about to explain who he was when Daryl walked past him and started calling for his brother. Shane got in his way and told him that they need to talk about Merle, "About Merle, there was a problem back in Atlanta."

"He dead?"

"We're not sure."

"Either he is or he ain't."

"There's no easy way to say this," Rick said.

"Who are you again?"

"Rick Grimes."

"Rick Grimes, you got something you want to tell me?"

Rick then proceeded to explain precisely what happened in Atlanta and why they had to handcuff Merle to the roof. Daryl goes ballistic and attacked Rick, who shoved him off. Daryl pulled a knife, but Shane put him in a chokehold. After Daryl calmed down, Rick explained to him that they have an extra key, and they're going back for Merle. Daryl tells them that he's going along, and so was T-Dog and Glenn. Shane, Dale, Morales, and Jim decided to stay behind.

Before Rick leaves, he goes to Kagome's tent to let her know, "Kagome, we're heading off to Atlanta now."

"Good luck, Rick," Kagome said without looking at him.

Rick felt terrible for hurting Kagome's feelings, but there was nothing he could do about it. Rick wanted to reach out for Kagome, but he knew it was a bad idea, "I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, Kagome. I didn't mean to imply that I only wanted you here for your skills. I hope to see you later," Rick said, then turned and left.

Rick then went and told Lori that they were leaving. He hugged and kissed his wife and son then got in the van and left. They were gone all day. At that time, Jim was off in the distance, digging holes, and Shane went out to stop him because he was wearing himself out and freaking people out. They end up tying Jim to get him to calm down; once he's calm, Shane lets him go.

Later that night. Ed hears shuffling outside his tent and thinks it's Carol when he opens the shelter he's attacked by a Walker that takes a massive bite out of him. The camp erupts in Chaos as walkers attack them from all sides. Amy walks out of the RV, and is bitten on the arm by a Walker, Andrea screams, but just as the Walker is about to take a chunk out of Amy's neck, an arrow goes whizzing by and turns the walker to ash.

Kagome runs up to Amy and begins firing arrows at all the walkers that are attacking the survivors. She saw one going for Carl and Sophia and quickly shot an arrow that hits it in the head and turns it to ash. At that point, the others show up and begin firing at the remaining Walkers. Kagome grabs Amy and pulls her into the RV. Amy is crying hysterically.

"Calm down, Amy, I'm going to fix this."

"How?"

"Don't ask questions, let me work."

Kagome put her hands over the bite and pushed all her spiritual powers into the wound. She can feel the infection wanting to spread, but Kagome's powers have it trapped. Slowly, Kagome's powers begin to purify the bite wound until there is nothing left of the infection. The injury has stopped bleeding, and Kagome wrapped the wound with the gauze that she has in her pocket.

Meanwhile, Amy watches in awe as Kagome's hands glow pink, and she feels warmth and peace spread through her arm down into her body. Amy stares at Kagome, who is concentrating on healing her wound. Amy can no longer feel the heat of the bite and sighs in relief. After a while, Kagome stopped and wrapped Amy's wound.

"What did you do?"

"I healed you. If I can get to a bite quickly enough, I can purge it from a person's body before the infection spreads," Kagome told her.

"How?"

"I have skills," Kagome said but would not elaborate.

After the shooting stopped, Andrea rushed into the RV and saw that Amy was still alive, "Amy! Oh my god, I thought I lost you!"

"I'm alright, Andrea, Kagome healed me."

Andrea looked at Kagome, oddly, "What do you mean she healed you?"

"She took the infection away."

Andrea turned to Kagome, "How did you do that?"

Kagome sighed, "Instead of asking me how I did it, show a little appreciation, and be with your sister."

Andrea stared at Kagome, "Th-thank you."

"You're welcome," Kagome said then left the RV.

It turned out that Ed had been torn apart as had several other people. Jim who they thought was bitten, was fine. When Amy came out of the RV, everyone was concerned that she was going to get a fever after being bitten, but she assured them that she was fine. That's when Rick decided that they needed to go to the CDC in Atlanta to see if there was a cure. Everyone ends up agreeing except for Morales, who decided to head for the coast with his family.

After they bury the dead and burn the Walkers, Rick sought out Kagome. He had been worried about her since he didn't see her after the attack. Carl had told him that Kagome had shot the Walker that was after him and Sophia and that it had turned to ash, "How did she do that, Dad?"

"Kagome is very special, Son," Rick told him.

Carl smiled, "Yeah, she is."

Rick ruffled his boy's hair and went looking for Kagome in her tent. He found her packing her yellow backpack, getting ready to leave. Rick's heart started racing at the thought of Kagome leaving him, uh, them, "Are you leaving Kagome?"

"Aren't we all," She asked.

Rick sighed in relief, "So you're coming with us to Atlanta?"

"Yes, I have nothing better to do. Besides, I have to make sure you all don't kill Amy, thinking she's going to turn."

"She's not?"

"No, she's not. I healed her wound and was able to draw out the infection."

"How did you do that?"

"My powers, I can purify Walker bites if I can get to them before the infection spreads."

"That's amazing!"

"Not really, it runs in my family," Kagome told him.

"How?"

"I'll tell you another time."

"Fair enough. Do you need help taking down your tent?"

"If you don't mind."

"Not at all."

Rick and Kagome quickly took down her tent then packed it away. Rick helped Kagome carry her stuff to the RV, where she would be traveling with Dale, Glenn, Jacqui, Jim, Amy, and Andrea. While the others split up into different vehicles, and Daryl rode his brother's motorcycle. The group loaded up and headed back to Atlanta to the CDC, hoping to find help.
