The next morning during breakfast, Lori, Carl, and Rick sat together eating. Rick is lost in thought about what Lori had told him yesterday, not so much about the pregnancy, but the hesitation when he asked if she and Shane had gotten together because she thought he was dead. Could Lori have been cheating on him with Shane long before all this had happened? Rick was beginning to find it odd they Lori and Shane could fall for each other so quickly after his supposed death. He glanced up at Shane, who was staring at Lori, then looked down at his food.

Rick started to think back to when Lori supposedly went out with her friends or went to pick up something she forgot at the store. Were those excuses to meet with Shane? Rick continued to stare off into space and jumped when he felt Lori's hand touch his face, "Hey, where'd you go?"

"I'm here," Rick said and continued to eat as Lori leaned in and kissed his cheek.

Rick quickly looked up to see if Kagome had seen, but she was busy talking to Carol, Sophia, and Amy. Kagome could feel Rick's eyes on her, so she turned to look at him and smiled. He smiled back at her. When the group was almost finished with breakfast, Dale motioned to Glenn to tell the others what he knew.

"Um, guys. So...the barn is full of Walkers."

You could have heard a pin drop with how quiet everyone got. The group stared at Glenn for a moment, then Shane leaped to his feet and took off towards the barn with Rick chasing after him; soon, everyone else followed behind. When he got to the barn, Shane peered in through a hole and counted about a dozen Walkers in the barn.

"You cannot tell me you're all right with this," Shane shouted.

"No, I'm not, but we're guests here, this Isn't our land."

"This is our lives!"

"Lower your voice," Glenn said to Shane.

"We can't sweep this under the rug," Andrea added.

"It ain't right. Not remotely. Okay, we've either got to go in there, we've got to make things right, or we've just got to go. Now we have been talking about Fort Benning for a long time."

"We can't go."

"Why, Rick, why?!"

Rick hesitated; he didn't think it was right to blurt out that Lori was pregnant, "Because, we can't."

Shane scoffed and started pacing. Rick grabbed his arm, "Keep your hands off me!"

"Now, just let me talk to Hershel. Let me figure it out."

"What are you gonna figure out?!"

"Give Rick a chance to talk to Hershel, Shane," Kagome said.

"Shut up, bitch!"

"What did you call me?!"

"Don't talk to her that way," Rick yelled.

"You heard me," Shane said to Kagome.

"Come say that to my face, asshole, and I'll break more than your wrist." Kagome challenged.

Shane stalked towards Kagome, but Glenn got in his way. He shoved Glenn to the ground and kept walking towards Kagome. Kagome got into a defensive stance and waited for Shane to attack. The minute he got close enough, Kagome swept his legs out from under him, jumped on his chest, and punched him once, breaking his nose.

Rick pulled Kagome off of Shane before she hit him again, "You two stop it!"

"Don't you ever call me a bitch again, fucker, or we'll finish this fight," Kagome said.

Shane stood up and wiped himself off. He spat out a glob of blood and wiped his nose with his shirt. Shane was about to go after Kagome when T-Dog and Daryl stopped him. Shane shook them off and marched off with Andrea following behind him to see if he was okay.

"If we're gonna clear this barn, I have to talk him into it. This is his land."

"Hershel sees those things in there as people, sick people, his wife, his stepson."

"You knew?"

"Yesterday, I talked to Hershel."

"And you waited the night?" Andrea asked.

"I thought we could survive one more night. We did. I was waiting until this morning to say something. But Glenn wanted to be the one."

Andrea walked up to Rick, "The man is crazy, Rick, if Hershel thinks those things are alive or no." They all jump back when the door moves, and the chain rattles. They can hear growling from inside.

Later, Carl and Sophia are doing school work, and Carl looked up to see Shane pacing back and forth. He and Sophia looked at each other, "What's wrong with Shane," Sophia asked.

"He's scared," Lori told her.

"About the Walkers in the barn?"

"Yeah, Honey."

"Don't worry, Carl, Kagome will keep us safe, as she did me in the woods. And how she did you with your gunshot," Sophia assured Carl.

Carl smiled at Sophia, remembering Kagome's healing powers and her skill with a bow, "Yeah, if anyone can keep us safe, it's Kagome."

Lori sat there listening to the children rave about Kagome. What was so special about Kagome that everyone loved her? Well, not everyone, Shane couldn't stand her, and Lori was pretty sure that neither could Andrea. But still, everyone else adored her.

Sophia and Carl kept talking about Kagome, Carl, wondering if Kagome would teach him how to use a bow. Lori got up and was about to walk away when Carl looked up, "Mom, where are you going?"

"Oh, honey, I'm going to the bathroom real quick. You and Sophia keep working on your schoolwork."

Carl and Sophia nodded and continued talking about Kagome while they worked out their math problems. Lori walked away and went to see Shane, who had gone up to the house to get some ice for his nose. It wasn't the first time he broke his nose, so he set it himself.

"Are you alright," Lori asked.

Shane took the ice off his face, "Yeah, Lori, I'm fine."

"Does it hurt?"

"Nah, I need the ice to bring the swelling down so I can breathe."

Shane winced when Lori touched his face, "I'm going to get that bitch back for what she did."

Lori didn't say anything.

"What brings you by," Shane asked.

"I only wanted to check on you. Make sure you don't need anything."

"No, I'm fine. What I need you're not willing to give me anymore."

"Shane, don't start. As it is, Dale knew about us."

Shane looked around, "So, you thought you were a widow, no one can fault you for that."

"I don't think he believes we had just started our affair recently. I think he suspects we had been doing this for a while now."

"So?"

"What if he tells Rick?!"

"Do you think Rick will take the word of a guy he barely knows over his wife and best friend?"

Lori wasn't sure he wouldn't.

"Besides, why do you want to be with Rick? I'm the one who protects you and Carl. Rick's always off somewhere playing good Samaritan or with that bitch."

"He's my husband, and the father of my son, and I love him."

Shane gave her a skeptical look, "Do you?" He asked, then got up and walked away.

Lori watched Shane walk off.

While this conversation is going on, Dale is standing outside the RV, thinking about hiding the bag of guns from Shane. He is beginning to fear for the safety of not only for Rick but Kagome as well. Dale noticed the look of hatred in Shane's eyes when he got up from the ground and glared at Kagome.

Glenn, who was on the RV keeping lookout, told Dale that Andrea was looking for him, "Thanks."

Dale went inside the RV and saw Andrea getting her gun and tucking it into the back of her jeans, "What's going on," Dale asked.

"I'm heading over to the barn, Shane wants a watch duty down there."

"Does Rick?"

"Why would he?"

"Are you only getting yours? I don't know what's going on with him?"

"Him?"

"Shane."

Andrea rolled her eyes, "Dale."

"It's not my business. All that matters to me is that you-you may not really know Shane."

"We don't need to do this. You and I are finally-"

"It's important."

"I get it; you don't like him."

"Is that how you want to be? Like him?"

"He's not a victim."

"You don't know him."

They continue to argue for a bit until Andrea left the RV. Glenn asked Dale if he was alright, but Dale asked Glenn to run up and get him some water, "I need a minute."

While Glenn is gone, Dale decided that he needed to hide the guns from Shane to keep the group safe, especially Rick and Kagome. In the meantime, Rick is trying to convince Hershel to let them stay on the farm, but Hershel is adamant that they leave. Rick told Hershel that Lori was pregnant, hoping that it would change Hershel's mind, or at least give him something to think about.

"You have a doctor with you, Rick. Kagome is more than qualified to help your wife with the pregnancy."

"I know she is, that isn't the point. This place is a haven; you don't know what it's like out there, if you send us away, this baby may not survive."

That was the last thing that Rick said before he walked out of the house. When he left Rick, saw Shane in the distance and went to go talk to him, "What's it gonna be, man? Which way does this thing go?" Shane asked.

"I don't know yet."

"Well, what did he say?"

"We're negotiating."

"You're nego-clock's ticking, Rick."

"No, it isn't, Shane. That barn, the barn is secure. We didn't even know about it till this morning."

"We didn't. Well, we know about it now. Right? We know there are over a dozen walkers in there. We know that it's about a stone's throw from our camp, Rick-where we sleep. So look, if we're not gonna go in there and clear it out, then we just got to go."

Rick and Shane continue to argue about putting down the Walkers or leaving until Rick blurts out that Lori's pregnant. Shane looked at Rick, shocked. He started to smile then schooled his face, "Congratulations, man."

"Thank you. You good?"

"Yeah."

Rick walked away to talk to Kagome. He needed to see if she could take care of Lori during her pregnancy. The minute Rick left, Shane's mask falls, and Shane got this crazed look in his eyes. He pushed off the tractor and went looking for Lori. He found her cutting carrots for dinner. Shane sat down opposite her and waited for her to say something, but Lori continued to cut the vegetables.

"Were you ever going to tell me you were pregnant," Shane asked.

"Why should I? It's not yours."

"Lori, you know the baby's mine."

"No, I don't."

"Pretending that the baby is Rick's isn't going to fix your marriage. You know you love me more than you love Rick."

Lori looked up at Shane, confused, "You can't tell me that what we had was meaningless. If it were, we wouldn't have started before this world went to shit."

Lori shook her head, "Shane, what we had meant more to you than it did me. I was hurting, things weren't going right in my marriage, and I needed comfort, and you happened to be there."

"You're lying."

"No, I'm not. I know that everything between Rick and me will be better now."

"You think so, huh?"

"Yes."

"Then why is he with Kagome right now," Shane asked and motioned in with his head towards Rick.

Lori turned around and saw that Rick was talking to Kagome about something. Whatever they were talking about was putting a smile on his face, then suddenly he hugged her. Lori was so angry; she wasn't thinking straight. She wanted to hurt Rick as severely as he had hurt her. She looked at Shane, "Find a place, and I'll meet you there," Lori said.

Shane smiled and nodded. He knew that Lori would come back to him eventually.

Later that afternoon, after Shane got the guns back from Dale, he armed everyone in camp and decided that they needed to take care of the Walkers. Shane banged on the barn doors, riling up the Walkers, but Shane lost it when he saw Rick and Hershel leading back two more Walkers. He started screaming at Rick, and Rick kept trying to calm him down, but it wasn't working until finally Shane drew his gun and fired at the Walker that Hershel had.

"Hey, Hershel, man, let me ask you something. Could a living breathing person, could they walk away from this? That's three rounds in the chest. Could someone who's alive, could they just take that?! Why is it still coming?"

Shane fired again.

"That's it's heart, it's lungs. Why is it still coming?"

"Shane, enough!"

"Yeah, you're right, man. That is enough."

Then Shane shot the Walker in the head.

"Enough living next to a barn full of things that are trying to kill us. Enough. Rick, it ain't like it was before! Now, if y'all want to live, if you want to survive, you got to fight for it! I'm talking about fighting right here, right now!"

Shane ran to the barn and pried the lock off the door and the Walkers start coming out. Everyone got in a line and started putting down the Walkers, including Hershel's wife and stepson. When it's all over, Hershel is kneeling on the ground in shock while Beth is next to him crying. She got up and went to her mother and tried to rearrange her hair, but the Walker isn't dead and attacks her. Beth started screaming and tried to get away, Amy ends up killing it with a scythe.

Maggie ran to Beth and helped Beth up, and she and Amy led her into the house. Kagome, who had been watching the whole fiasco with Carol and Sophia. Walked up to Shane, and shoved him, "Have you lost your mind?!"

"Oh, man, don't start with me. You know it had to be done."

"Yes, but not like this. Look what you did to that poor man. You shattered everything that he believed."

"Better now than when a Walker is chewing on his daughter."

"You're an asshole."

"And you're still a bitch."

Kagome lunged for Shane, but Rick caught her around the middle, "Both of you stop it! We need to figure out how to fix this."

"Ain't nothing to fix, man, it's done," Shane said and walked away.

Rick looked at Kagome, "You, okay?"

"Yeah. I need to stop letting that moron rile me up."

"Yes, you do."

Kagome thanked Rick and walked towards the house with Carol and Sophia

Rick went towards his family but noticed that Lori was staring at him, astonished, "What?"

She gave him a dirty look and walked away. He and Carl looked at each other and followed Lori. When they got to camp, Lori and Shane had disappeared. Rick felt something in the pit of his stomach, "Carl, you stay here; I'm going to go look for your mom."

"Okay, dad."

Rick thought for a moment if two people wanted privacy, where would they go? Rick started walking into the woods behind the shed. The dread in his stomach started getting worse and worse, and he got closer to the pond. And then Rick heard it—the familiar moans of two people having sex. Rick peeked out from behind a tree, and he saw his wife and best friend fucking in the tall grass. Rick felt tears well up in his eyes; he knew that this had been going on longer than Lori had said, but Rick was in denial. Rick wanted to rush out and bash Shane's skull in, but he angrily turned around and went back to the house. Rick needed to find Kagome.
