This is a short fanfic was also inspired from the song of 5 seconds of summer called "Lost Boy". I don't know why I wrote this one. There might be grammar errors in this one but I hope you enjoy my story. Thank you and have fun reading!
Adrien Agreste doesn't know why something feels off the first thing he wakes up in the morning. He feels that something inside his soul is missing. What could it be? What is it that makes him miss it right now? Why is his heart half lost in the void?
He dismissed everything. A knock came through the door of his bedroom.
"Come in!"
A beautiful middle aged woman came inside his bedroom. Her gentle green eyes sparkled at the sunlight peeking through her son's room. "Adrien, are you done? Let's go have breakfast with your father. He asked the chef to make some soufflé pancakes for us."
Adrien lightened up when he heard about the soft fluffy soufflé pancakes he wanted to try before. He saw a lot of it online and once told it to his father. He can't believe that his father did that.
Can't believe it? Wait- no, why would he think like that? Isn't his father always doing what he wished to have as long as he does his best at school and other activities?
"Okay, mom. I'll just fix my bag for school," he told his mother.
His mother smiled sweetly at him. "Alright. We will wait for you in the dining room."
His mother left the room. He sighed as he finished putting everything for his school today, but before he could bring the bag with him, he noticed something lacking in his hand.
This shouldn't be possible. He doesn't wear anything to his fingers. He scratched a bit of the back of his neck in confusion and shook his head. It should be that he is still sleepy. Yes, he must be sleepy. Or maybe hungry perhaps.
He took his phone to his packet and went to his other cabinet but found it empty. No, why did he open this empty cabinet in this portion? Did he forget something again? Impossible.
He closed the cabinet and decided to eat breakfast. His parents might be waiting for him.
Adrien can't believe how warm and thoughtful his father could be when he saw the dining table full of food he likes. There are fresh croquettes, pancakes with a selection of syrups he can use, and many more.
"Is there an occasion?" He asked as he sat in his chair beside his mother. "So much food… Can I eat all of them?"
His father nodded warmly. "Your mother wants to give you a good breakfast since this is your last school year in Dupont."
"Mom! This-" He happily hugged his mother. "Thank you!"
"For our son, of course," his mother patted his shoulders before he let go of her. "You are our only son. Our beloved son."
Adrien.
He stopped before he could eat. Father's voice? But he wasn't speaking right now. This gave him chills. What was that?
You are my son!
Is he hearing things?
"Adrien, are you okay?"
"Mom? No, I'm fine," he said. "I might be just hungry."
His mother looked at him worriedly. His father also stopped to look at him.
"Adrien, do you want to get some rest? I can ask Nathalie to send notification to your school for you to get a sick leave for today."
You will listen to me!
"U-um I'm fine, father. I can't skip my last day of school today."
He ate his pancakes first and ate some croquettes as well. After breakfast, he still hears things in his head that makes him confused and goes to school with Gorilla. His parents still insist for him to get a sick leave just in case. But he finally convinced them that he is alright.
Adrien…
When he stepped out of the car, there's a soft voice belonging to a girl. As if there's some glitch in his surroundings, he saw a girl in the corner of his eye standing in front of the school with a bag. He can't see her face with her back turned. Her two pigtails are very familiar. But after he blinked, she was gone!
No!
Where did she go?
Wait- what is this? Who is she? Is she a ghost? Why is this happening?
"Dude! Are you okay?"
"Nino?"
Nino looked at him worriedly. "I've been calling your name for a while now but you weren't answering me. Are you alright, dude?"
"What? I- I'm fine," he answered quickly. He didn't know he was standing here for a while and didn't hear anything in his surroundings.
"Adrien! Nino! Woohoo!"
A girl with ombre hair and slightly dark skin called for them. Beside her was Kagami, she's smiling at them as well as they approached the two boys.
Adrien kept looking at their direction. He doesn't know why he felt it this way. Kagami shouldn't be the one beside Alya. But why does he envision a small girl with the same pigtails like earlier?
This feels… wrong…
"Kagami," he asked the pretty asian girl. "Do we have another classmate or schoolmate perhaps with pigtails?"
Alya hears it and intervenes before Kagami answers Adrien. "The only one with that kind of hairstyle you are talking about is Socqueline Wang from another class over there!"
He turned around and saw the familiar girl but he knew the girl in his glitch wasn't her…
Adrien, Je t'aime…
"It wasn't her."
Adrien…
It wasn't her.
His heart is being squeezed right now to bits. The missing pieces crumbled to dust. His face paled as he tried to remember her name.
Her name… it should start with M but not S.
Always remember…
He heard her voice again after class. Time went by and all he heard in the class was her ghostly voice, haunting his heart and mind. He was longing for something that doesn't exist anymore.
Her existence? She's a ghost whispering words in his mind. His environment has glitches wherever he looks around. It's weird. It makes his heart feel lost.
He is a lost boy in a familiar place.
Always remember my name, Adrien.
He is lost.
After school, he came back home to his warm parents but it shouldn't be like this… everything seems perfect but why does he still feel lost and longing for someone?
As if he should remember her.
I love you, forever and ever. Us and against-
"-The world, my lady."
Did I just fill in the words, she'll say? What about that, 'my lady'? What the heck?!
This is weird. Truly weird.
He sat on his sofa in his bedroom. He still feels lost. Unable to comprehend what's happening. Whenever he closes his eyes, he can see the girl but is unable to see her face. There's always a fog blurring her face from him.
"Who are you?" He whispered to himself.
I'll always be with you.
"Why do you haunt me like this? My whole life was normal until…"
I have to leave you behind, my chaton.
"Why can't I see your face? Who are you? Why do you call me chaton?"
Tears started falling as he felt as if he couldn't breathe. His heart is dying and he knows it should be her that made him feel this way. The ghost of the girl whom he can't remember. Why does he feel lonely?
"WHO ARE YOU?!"
But no one answered his scream.
