A little more conversation.
Self-Discoveries, Part 2: Father Figures
"What exactly are you trying to imply here?" Chief Superintendent Sakurada asked Inspector Toshio Wagaki as she heard the three tapes he presented her. They contained exerts of testimonials they drew from a few victims of the demon attacks.
"There's no implication, other than the so-called Sailor Guardians are directly linked to these appearances. It's clear, they all say so."
Chief Sakurada rose her left eyebrow in disbelief. "In case you haven't noticed, those appearances have been resolved by the Sailor Guardians, not caused by them. All these recordings prove is that they appeared in time to rescue them from possessions, not to kill them or possess them themselves. Think of it this way: They're the solution, not the cause. You're simply being illogical and swapping their places in this scheme."
"With all due respect, Chief... Are you willing to make the police step aside when combatting these dangers? What happened to our duty to protect and serve the population?"
"I'm sorry, but there is only so much our force can do with our current resources. If we had the power to do so, we'd do something more, but we are completely defenseless against this type of attack."
"Umm, excuse me for one second, Chief," Inspector Naitou Kakusareta suddenly appeared as he pulled Toshio with him to their office. Once inside, he addressed Toshio in a quiet but grave tone: "Okay, you better tell me what in the fuck are you trying to do."
"I was trying to convince Chief Sakurada of the link between the Sailor Guardians and the paranormal activities and attacks, is all."
Naitou looked away and facepalmed. "This is supposed to be a private investigation. It has nothing to do with the police department. Let me repeat this once more so it can get through your thick skull: it has nothing to do with the police department! Do you get it now?"
"Okay, fine! But there is only so much two people can do."
"Two people are more than enough to handle this case. Now please, don't implicate the Chief Superintendent on this."
For all his correctness and competence, Toshio could be easily swayed to an agreement, provided the logic behind the arguments sounded well-founded. And he started to see something wrong in Naitou's train of thought regarding their investigation. Why would he insist on the both of them conducting this investigation alone? Wouldn't they benefit if more personnel were involved and that Chief Sakurada was aware of it? Perhaps the Chief had a point in her affirmation that the attacks were not caused because of the heroines, but despite their presence and that they were crucial for their resolution.
All he knew was that he could no longer completely trust in Naitou. He would have to make a counter-investigation to see for himself, starting with the files and the recordings they got.

Diary Entry
Though my current self has no veins, and thus no blood and no heart, I can still feel pain. My mind, as it is, can still have sensations of all kinds. And of course, the only thing I could feel is envy. The cold and steely touch of envy. More precisely, of those who can form bonds of love and trust... Like the incubus is doing right now.
Perhaps this is why I hate the Sailor Guardians? As well as Endymion? If my problem with them was just jealousy over who they were and what they were capable of, I would gladly leave it be. But it goes beyond that.
I do feel jealous of Endymion the most, yes. Of him, and of the Heavenly Kings, as they would be eventually called. They knew the feel of love, the glory of being hailed as heroes... And here I am, contradicting myself again. I swore that the allure of abstractions would never appeal to me again, and yet I envy those who have it. Damn my humanity.
Still, I can't help but remember them all...
Akumetsu.
Ayawatha.
Aeneas.
Aniruddha.
They can only be in the Hades now. They gave their souls away to serve the cause of Beryl, to the point they retrieved some of the Crests in hopes that their breaking could avoid their eventual doom, the poor bastards. And in the anxiousness to undo their errors, they lost their lives fighting against the ones they loved.
What if I retrieved their souls? Yes, they could be my personal guard dogs, and they would have no say in that. If they do manage to kill the Guardians, or the reverse happened once again, I would bask in the irony of both situations. If I am going down as the villain of the story, and if I still have human feelings, I may as well permit myself some pettiness once in a while.
I hope Fréamund does not take long with his plan to open a gate to Hell. Even a small one would be advantageous at this rate.

Setsuna arrived at Arisugawa Park just as the day was beginning to wane and give way to the night. She went to the homeless people's lodgings looking for Astar and eventually found him merrily sharing drinks with the local homeless men.
"Drink up, boys!" Astar called as he raised his aluminum glass. "To life!"
"To life! KANPAI!" They all cheered and clacked their glasses together, and then gulped down their shares of cheap wine and beer. Alcohol did not have any effect on Astar's body, but he still drank with them for habit's sake.
"Why, hello there, Astar," Setsuna greeted. "It seems you are having a very good time, aren't you?"
"Ah, hello, Setsuna! Indeed, we are celebrating an entire week of honest working and full bellies. So, what brings you here?"
"I'm here to escort you to Ami's cram school, so you can have your talk with her. And from there, I believe you can work your way to the Hikawa Shrine, which isn't very far. Shall we go now?"
"Of course, I'd love to." He then turned to the homeless men. "Hey, guys! I'm going on a walk with my friend Setsuna. Keep up the good spirits, because I'll be back later at night."
"It's a date, isn't it?" One of the younger guys jested. "Woo-ee, she's a looker and a keeper!"
"Darn it, Akira, we're just friends!" He waved his hand flusteredly while Setsuna tilted her head and covered her mouth to chuckle. "Well, see you later!"
As he left, the other men waved goodbye and kept on boozing. Unbeknownst to any of them, a certain figure wearing a moldy red robe and a hannya mask that kept himself hidden among the trees of the park started to follow them.
"He is with the Demigoddess, too... This is not good. We should act quick."
(xx)
On the way, Setsuna started talking: "I haven't introduced you yet to my friends Haruka and Michiru. They are Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, respectively. They may seem harsh and judgemental at first, but they are very good people underneath. At the moment they have been busy with their own appointments, since both travel across the country. Oh, and there's also Hotaru. She is Soichi's daughter, and the both of us take care of her. You see, she is physically a two-year-old toddler, but whenever it is necessary, she transforms into Sailor Saturn. You saw her that day in the Juuban High School. It's a complicated story, some other day I can tell you."
Setsuna normally was not of the talkative type, but something about helping out the incubus revealed that side of her. For the first time, she felt happy to help somebody, even if it was something of an obligation to avoid a bigger tragedy in the long run.
"So, how are the mixes I handed you?" the Guardian asked.
"Ah, yes. They work wonderfully! I no longer feel any need to hunt down women. It's perhaps paradoxical to my whole existence and purpose, but I am more than making up in being helpful to the guys at Arisugawa Park."
"You seem to feel good around them."
"Yeah! I know it's small, but whatever I can do for them should be enough."
"Well, here we are already."
As he turned, he ended up bumping into Setsuna, who saw a series of scenes flashing in front of her eyes. She was taken over by an enormous feeling of sadness afterwards.
"Is something wrong, Setsuna?" Astar asked.
The Guardian of Time put up on a makeshift calm face. "No, nothing. Just the stress of my routine catching up to me. Listen, I'm late and I need to go back home to take care of Hotaru and add some pointers to my doctorate thesis. I'll see you tomorrow to hand you the new mix batch and accompany you to Makoto's workplace, okay? See you."
"Umm, okay. See you, then."
After waving goodbye, Setsuna left as fast as she could, visibly unsettled. What am I doing...
Not long after, the cram school's attendees left through the main door. Astar managed to recognize Ami, who still wore her school uniform. "Good evening, Miss Mizuno."
"Oh, you must be Astar," she amicably addressed the incubus. "Pleased to meet you!"
"Pleased to meet you too! And even more pleased to see you are not afraid or disgusted by my presence, after what I've done to you..."
She drew a small but earnest smile. "Don't worry about that. Usagi told me earlier about your talk with her yesterday. If she trusts you, then I'm inclined to trust you as well. Now, shall we go home? It's not far from here."
After fifteen minutes of silent walking, they arrived at Ami's apartment complex. He recognized the place but had no idea how to reach there. When he first entered Ami's mind, he only guided himself by following her aura.
"We have the house all for ourselves since my mother works until late at the Hospital. We can talk right here in the living room. Care for some water?"
"Umm, sure, thank you." When he received his glass, Astar put on some of the powder mix Setsuna gave to him, which turned the water into some kind of cherry-colored Kool-Aid.
"What is that?" Asked Ami.
"Oh, this? It is a special mix concocted by Setsuna and his partner, Soichi. It gives me the necessary nutrients I need, so I don't need to invade womens' minds to search for energy."
"Hmm, interesting... Soichi, you say? As in, Soichi Tomoe?"
"Yes, if I recall correctly, that's his full name."
Ami pondered for a short while, hand on chin. "He used to be our enemy. Well, not him exactly, but some sort of alien who took over his body and used him to try to bring over an eldritch abomination. It's a long story."
"Perhaps, just like me, he was looking for redemption."
"Maybe. Anyways, what did you see in my mind? I'm really curious to know."
"First of all, when I appeared in your Dreamscape, it was inside some kind of indoor pool. Appropriate, given your powers. Then I saw your extensive memory bank. It was represented by endless rows of bookcases and drawers with files that contained information of every kind."
"Ah yes, I study a lot, and I'm naturally curious to always learn new things. What else?"
"Well, a good portion of your memories had you covered in spines. And they only got worse as you grew up, with even other people growing their own spines that made you hesitant in approaching them. It all began the day your father split from your mother and left home. If it's not too much to ask, what could you tell me about your parents and your father in particular?"
"I was five years old when my father left home. But I remember that before their divorce, my parents spent more time arguing with one another than doing things together. Whenever they took me out to play or walk around, or even just to take me to school or swimming classes, only one of them did it while the other stayed at home, went to work, or did something else."
"Again, please forgive me if this sounds insensitive to ask, but... Do you harbor any grudge with either one of your parents for this?"
"No," she immediately answered. "I understand their reasons now. My mother has fought tooth and nail since she was little to become a respected doctor, so I don't see why I should be upset over her spending more time at work than at home. And my father is a wandering artist and a very well-regarded one at that. I guess he just couldn't settle with the stationary life of a husband and father. You see, we still keep in touch, he visits me at least once a year and we are on pretty good terms with each other."
"Well, good to know. Still, from what you describe and your subconscious has shown me, you still feel like your father walked out on you and your mother, and that your mother has no will to be with you. Since then, you have had a severe fear of people abandoning you - hence why you started developing those spines I told you, as soon as your mother told you the truth and you locked yourself in your room. You got much better with the help of Usagi and the others, but your mind insists on telling you to protect yourself, at least in regards to romantic involvements, which require a bit more trust and commitment. This frustration is what ended up attracting me to your mind. Care to tell me of how you have dealt with your feelings lately?"
"Sure, let's see..." Remembering this, Ami blushed a bit. "I only had one date with a boy, and it was pretty good to me. His name is Ryo, and he studied with me for a while. I and the other Guardians had to save him because he had a hidden monstrous form that an old enemy drew forth. He always had a thing for me, he even told me so, and eventually, we decided to take our chances together, even if just for one day. It could have worked out longer if only he didn't move around so much. See, his father had an important rank in the Special Defense Forces, so he was always on the move, but eventually, he earned a scholarship in an elite German high school three years ago. We kept in contact and even made plans to meet each other once again, but we haven't spoken in a while. I'm afraid he either moved on, or something happened to him..."
"Hmm, I see. And your mind interpreted it as him walking away on you as your father did."
Ami simply looked to her side. "I guess so..."
"Yes, in that scene, when he went his own way, you waited for some time, and when you realized he hasn't answered, you grew spikes again. Anyway, in the same scene, the spines you grew eventually withdrew when you met with another boy. This one was taller, had smooth facial traces, and a long brown ponytail."
"Oh, Taiki?" The reminder of the Sailor Starlight flustered Ami deeply. "My, oh my, I can't believe I still have her in my mind..."
Now that was new to Astar. "Her?"
"Yes. Taiki is a woman, or at least it is how I understood. You see, a year ago, when she and the other Sailor Starlights came to Earth to seek their princess and help us combat Galaxia, they dressed up as men, attended my school for a while, and even formed a very popular music trio called Three Lights. I admired Taiki the most since she was the more sensible and artistic of the three. I admit I eventually developed feelings for her, not knowing of her real nature. But this couldn't last... Not only she was a woman all along, but she was also rather rude and didn't seem to want anything with me. And even if things could have worked out, she had to return to her home planet along with the others."
"This explains why she hurt you with her own spines when you tried to approach her. Perhaps you still have something lingering for her?"
"Not exactly... Whenever I think of her, the first memory is of how distant she usually was. She was the complete opposite of Ryo in that regard. And as I told you, she is a woman after all, and I am straight. I have nothing against same-sex couples, but I am sure this is not what I want for me."
"I see. Well, by the explanation, it seems the image that I saw was not necessarily of lingering feelings for her, but rather painful memories of her rejection and eventual departure. Again, this could be related to the source of your insecurities towards romance. Those frustrate you, even if you don't particularly feel like pursuing a relationship right now, but deep inside your core, you want to share time with someone."
Ami giggled once more. "Oh, pardon this. It's just that you are making me realize something. I guess you are right."
"I'd suggest you to see Ryo's whereabouts first. I doubt he would stop talking to you just like that." Ami nodded at the suggestion. "If nothing works out, don't sweat it. When the right time comes, the right man will appear. Isn't that what they all say? If it happened in your past life, it could happen now."
That last phrase caught Ami's attention. "Umm, excuse me?"
"Yes, I saw a brief glimpse of your past life. You were dancing and even shared a heated kiss with a man in military clothes with honey blond hair tied in a ponytail."
"A man in military clothes... with honey blond hair tied in a ponytail?" She then gasped. "Zoisite!"
"What's the matter?"
"He used to be our enemy, back when I was starting as a Sailor Guardian. Don't tell me... I used to be with him in my past life?"
"Indeed, it seemed so."
She didn't seem particularly pleased with that piece of information.
"What's past is past," Astar resumed. "Focus on the now and sort yourself out. I hope this conversation was of help."
"Sure! It feels like a burden was taken off my back. A burden I didn't even know I had."
"Well, I'm not sure if it will help you transform again, but at least some insight of how your mind works. Oh, one more thing. Do you have any textbooks you are no longer using? I'd love to bring some of those to the guys at Arisugawa Park. Not now, though. It's gonna be a burden to carry them all, you see, and I have yet to visit Rei tonight."
She smiled once more. "Sure, I have several of those, and I think it would be better off if I gave you my old middle-school books for that. Some other day you can come by."
"Perfect! Thank you very much for everything. See you!"
"I thank you too. Good night!"

Meanwhile, a man in a ragged, filthy guard uniform rambled at the clerk in the Juuban Police Department headquarters. He seemed exasperated, but the more he spoke, the less the attendants felt inclined to believe his story.
"I'm telling you, he touched me, and all of a sudden I appeared in Aokigahara of all places, right next to a rotting carcass! You don't imagine the hell and a half that it was for me to be back here, with next to no money in my pockets, and everyone I know saying I don't exist! Look..."
He drew forth a registration card and showed it to the clerk. "I'm a guard in Minato, my name is Suehiro Katou, look for me in the register and you'll see it there!"
"But sir," one of the clerks stated as she searched through the database on her computer. "The registers don't show of anyone called Suehiro Katou."
"How the hell is that even possible!?" the man screamed. "My family doesn't remember me, my friends don't seem to know me, and now not even my former employers recognize I worked here all my life? It's like I stopped existing all of a sudden?"
In his discontent, he sprinted out of the building and started to weep as he slid down the floor. "What do I do now..."
(xx)
Once more, he climbed the stairs over at Hikawa Temple. This time, it was for a noble cause. Upon ringing the bell, Rei's grandfather answered almost immediately.
"Good evening, sir. Is Rei home?"
"Oh, you must be this Astar fellow she talked about. Yes, she's waiting for you. I've never seen her so excited to see a boy before. Come in, come in!"
With the old man's permission, the incubus took off his Chuck Taylors and stepped into the house. He led the incubus into Rei's home, who greeted him warmly. "Hi there, Astar! Ami just told me of your talk with her."
"Hi there, Rei! I'm glad to hear that, and I hope I can be of help to you too."
The ravens Phobos and Deimos appeared once more, perching themselves on the windowsill and happily crowing at Astar.
"Consider yourself fortunate. If they act like this, it means they like you."
"Well, I am glad they did not attack me this time. See, when I first came here, it was to sate my lustful craving at your expense. They came gliding towards me, and could have hurt me if I didn't take on my intangible state."
"That's because they can detect hostile activity in the Shrine's grounds. Speaking of which, you better tell me all you saw inside my mind."
Rei sat on her bed, while Astar sat by her desk.
"Hmm, let me see. Inside your mind, there was a huge Shinto temple. It essentially represented your mind, your memories, and your heart, all in one. It had lots of Torii gates, a huge mountain range backdrop, cherry blossom trees all around... Can't get more Japanese than that. Once inside, the very first thing I saw was you as a child. You were crying on the corner of a dark room, while three men worked on the corpse of a woman."
Rei felt her heart sink at Astar's description of the scene he saw. "That was my mother. She died of cancer when I was only four years old..."
"Oh, my... I'm sorry for this."
Rei recomposed herself. "No, no, it's okay. Go on."
"Well, in that very scene, you ignited small fires around your head, and they became some sort of power that made the people you interact with burst on fire. As you grew up, you burned people with harsh words and shoves, and they all left complaining. For instance, I saw you burning Usagi."
"Oh, dear... She's been nothing but loyal to me, and all I gave her back was curtness. But I can't help it! I get angry way too easily, and she is a clumsy oaf that gets you off the rails!"
"Is she like that? I mean, when I met her, Usagi seemed to be fairly tactful and mature."
"Yeah, don't get me wrong, she's certainly better now, but once in a while, her ditzy side shows up. Matter of fact... she's the best friend I could have. Even if she was not my leader, just by showing a better side of me, I will forever be grateful to her."
"Well, from what I could infer, Usagi is used to this side of you. But in that same scene, there was a young man with long brown hair, he was terribly burned, and it appears he got fed up, boarded a train, and left you behind. I also saw him waiting outside the temple of your mind, which means you did not let him inside your heart for some reason."
"Yuuichirou! Yes, he used to be my grandfather's live-in apprentice. He is definitely a good guy, and he helped me and my grandpa a lot with our commitments, but he is somehow even more clumsy than Usagi and was way too attached to me. He even had a terrible penchant to get jealous over me for no reason..."
"Jealous and attached, you say. Do you... like this Yuuichirou guy? As more than just friends, that is."
The Guardian pondered seriously about the question. "I'm... Not sure... He loved me, that I know. To the point he risked his life numerous times to save me, even though he didn't know I am Sailor Mars, and as such, perfectly capable of fighting my fights. But he did so and never asked anything back. And now he left for college in Switzerland of all places, and I'm so confused. If he was so bent on pursuing a college education, he could have done it here in Tokyo. And as much as I say I don't like him or that I find him annoying, I can't stop thinking about him. No man has ever made me feel this way, you know..."
"It seems you never gave him a concrete answer on the matter. He felt hurt and left when he had the opportunity. A broken heart can be a dangerous thing to own, and I believe you know it well. It's obvious that his departure also hurt you, exactly because you feel like you did something to him, which reminds you of your own deep-seated issues. I'm not saying you should date him right away, only that you should have a heart-to-heart with him whenever you have the chance, preferably after realizing whether you love him or not."
Rei's expression was that of sadness, as if she realized an error in her ways. "Oh... You have a point. I may need some time to gather courage, but I will give him a call."
"Oh, and speaking of would-be sweethearts... Before I entered the temple in your Dreamscape, not only Yuuichirou was there waiting outside, but there was another one. He was barely tangible, perhaps because he was a faded memory. This man wore a military uniform, complete with white gloves and leather boots, and had short blond hair."
"W-W-WHAAAT!?" By the description, she recognized the man in her dreams, and she did not like it one bit. "That was Jadeite, an old enemy of ours. He was one nasty piece of work, and a misogynistic twit to boot! How could I ever love someone like that!?"
"Enemies, too? Well, that may be in this incarnation, because as I told you, he was intangible, differently from Yuuichirou. It seems he was important to you in your past life, possibly as lovers, but somehow you became enemies."
"I don't remember anything of my life during the Silver Millenium, so I can't tell. But seriously, I wouldn't date Jadeite even if he was the last man on Earth."
"Funny that. I saw a similar man in Ami's dream, and she also reacted adversely when I told her that. Anyway, there was a structure in your Dreamscape that caught my attention. It was a man-shaped mountain. He had slick hair and a mustache, and a stern look on his face. And whenever I got closer to it, the place became glum and heavy."
"Crud, that's... my father. He was never there to take care of me. Not even when mom died. He preferred his stupid career as a politician. Now there he is, Takashi Kakihara, Governor of Tokyo, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of the Kanto region, and a piece of crap of a man who doesn't even stop by to see how his one daughter is doing! He thinks giving out scholarships to conservative private schools is a proper substitute for parenting! Dammit! God-fucking-dammit!" The more she spoke, the more altered and visibly upset she became. She even turned away, so Astar would not see her furious expression and the tears forming in the corners of her eyes.
"I see... I apologize if I triggered painful memories, I am just telling you what I saw."
"No, no, it's okay..." Rei said as she wiped her eyes and turned over. "It hurts, yeah, but I guess it's good you mentioned him. Perhaps the pain of his abandonment never left me, and I need to get over it. Do you think that's directly linked to my emotional moments?"
"Only you can answer this to yourself, and most likely it won't be a short, immediate, or even pleasant answer. This serves about your father, Yuuichirou, and how you perceive your general attitude. The pain of losing your mother and not having your father near you may have left a scar in your mind that you don't want to admit you have. And it makes you lash out at most things that frustrate you. Think well about all of this, and stay cool, okay?"
Rei felt her confidence return, and she gave a relieved smile. "Thank you very much, Astar. I mean it!"
The incubus smiled as he got up and picked up his jacket. "One more thing... I noticed that even when you talk well of things and people, you throw in some snarky comment about them as well. It's like the negatives you see in them overlap the good parts. If not used with caution, these could hurt you and those around you as well."
"I see... I'll try to measure my words from now on."
Both headed to the entrance porch. "Before I go, let me ask you," Astar spoke. "Is the Shrine needing some employees? Some of the boys at Arisugawa Park would love an occupation. You don't even need to give them monetary compensation for now, just a few meals are enough."
"Hmm, well... I could talk to my grandpa about that. He prefers schoolgirls to act as mikos, but I think he could use the extra workforce. Especially to repair our guest room!"
"Excellent. Whenever possible, you can give me your grandfather's opinion on this. I hope this was of help. I'll be seeing you then!"
Both waved their goodbyes and Astar stepped out of the Shrine just as Rei's grandfather came out of the fireplace room after his nightly prayer. He snoozed and walked to the front porch, catching Astar just as he was leaving.
"Good-looking fellow, huh? Never seen him before, though. Who's that?"
"He is..." Rei thought of Astar's comment about the negative aspects. "My newest friend. A very good, dependable friend."
The old man rose his eyebrows in approval. Both he and Rei snoozed at the same time and decided to call it a day.

It was a Saturday of morning classes at the Juuban Junior High School, where Shingo studied. Once the class was done and the kids ran to the door, Usagi's younger brother was ready to go home and unwind a little, but before he could get out of the classroom's door, the teacher called.
"Hey, Shingo? Come here a minute, yes?" It was the Japanese Literature and Language teacher, Motoki Furuhata. Only half a year in, and he's already fairly popular with the students and personnel alike.
"Yes, Furuhata-sensei?"
Motoki handed the young man a folder full of papers. "As you know, Aguri hasn't been able to come to school ever since his reappearance, and here are the entire week's class assignments as well as his report card and his corrected essay. Could you deliver it all to Aguri's home?"
"Oh, of course," he answered as he put the folder inside his randoseru.
"Ahh, I knew I could count on you!" Motoki commended with a smile as he accompanied Shingo to the main door. He certainly knew how to lift the spirits of the students and make them feel useful.
"I hope he's okay," Shingo wondered as he made his way to his classmate's house. "I also hope he still has his Game Boy and his copy of Pocket Monsters Green."
Once arriving in the Hanekoma residence, he rang the doorbell, but after half a minute or so, nobody answered. Two more ringings with the same results, and he decided to see if he could peek through the adjacent window. He saw nothing. It was completely dark, despite there being no vestiges of closed curtains or blinds. To top it off, there was a pungent smell of rotten meat and curdled blood, as if there was a slaughterhouse on the other side of the door instead of a family residence.
Why do I have a spooky feeling about all of this, he thought as he headed home. The first thing he would do would be to call the police.
Muchísimas gracias a Eddythe a.k.a. litakino1987 por tus comentarios! Me hiciste los dias más felices con ellos!
Minha gratidão aos leitores brasileiros que vieram dar uma olhada no meu fic. Tamo junto!
And of course, thank you very much for keeping up with the story, everybody else from all around the world, whether a follower, guest, or as an anonymous reader.
Next week: It's Makoto and Minako's turn to talk to Astar. And something big is about to happen over at the Hanekoma residence.
Best regards from The Hospitaller Knight
