"Dewey, Dewey, Dewey… There he is. We got him back. I repeat sleeping Dewey is back to the land of the living." Huey announced to the room.
"What happened? How long was I out?" Dewey asked groggily as he attempted to stand up.
"You were out for 10 minutes, when mom found our baby sister's egg who was lost to space and time either from excitement or sheer shock. Sheer shock." Huey filled Dewey in on what had just transpired. "Honestly I thought I would be the one to faint, but this whole situation is both a miracle and wildly confusing." Huey acknowledged.
"So I wasn't imagining that. But like how?" Dewey asked.
"We honestly don't know. Lena tried to see if magic had anything to do with it, but she said it was something else, like way more ancient and archaic." June said wanting to be included. "Whatever it was it brought back Louena Duck from the past to the future, present." she added.
"Hey look, she's here now, and is no longer alone." May chimed in optimistically, trying to get the family off of this confusing topic since they don't know how this event transpired.
Violet and Lena were sitting on the couch waiting for Webby, May, June, Dewey, Huey to come to some sort of conclusion. "I'm a big brother now," Dewey acknowledged. With the trio of Webby, June, and May nodding.
Huey added, "I am also an older brother again." Huey and Dewey looked at each other for a moment, not saying anything.
"We're going to be the best big brothers ever." The twins said in unison with a high five. May, June, and Webby were also pumped to have a baby cousin.
Huey and Dewey went to go check on Donald and Della who were conversing on what they should do now that Louena has re-entered the picture after 12 years. "Donald, I can handle this, you did so well with the boys. I think I can handle one baby." Della assured her brother.
"Della…" He starts sighing. "Tell you what I will stick around until a month after she hatches which according to the doctors should be sometime in the next week," Dewey and Huey kept quiet as they listened to the conversation from behind the door, "Just so I can make sure you start off on a good foot unlike me after that I'll visit periodically." Donald said.
"Fine." relented Della slightly annoyed. "Little Rebel can sleep in my room until we find a more permanent situation such as with the boys or with Webby's crew." she said extremely excited. Already having a crib in her room.
"I see you're excited." Donald said, looking at the crib and baby gate.
"Exactly," Della said as she went back out into Mom mode and tried to encourage the kids to go back to the pool. Who were totally eavesdropping because they were terrible liars and doing things they don't usually do. Such as looking at the ceiling and whistling loudly. "How much did you hear?" Della asked.
"What psssh we totally didn't hear anything." Huey started, then he thought about it. "She hatches next week?" Huey asked. Della had the smug smirk of I knew my kids were eavesdropping.
"She sure does and when we know you will know ok Huey and Dewey." said Della. "Anyway, let's get back to the beach party. I have camera's and Mrs. Beakley watching over the egg until it hatches," Della assured Dewey and Huey. " POOL PARTY! WOO-OOO!" She ran out of the house with the twins. After which the family celebrated not only a victory over evil, but a triumphant return and welcome of Louena Duck.
A few days later…
It was a standard morning for the Duck family. Mrs. Beakley took a break from watching Louena's egg to make breakfast. The 5 kids were doing their morning routines. Webby and May had taken up a sparring match routinely as their karate skills were unmatched. Dewey was practicing lines as he decided that he wanted to become a theater kid seeing as he wants to be famous on tv someday. So he was practicing lines for Romeo and Juliet. He got the part of Juliet's brother, how being the villain will sit on his soul that all depends on how the crowd plays into it. June had decided she would work on her family history, and spend her morning reading on McDuck history Webby had provided. Huey was reading the Junior Woodchuck Guidebook for any badges he could succeed in obtaining today.
Donald was in his houseboat preparing for Daisy's arrival later that afternoon. Della was sitting in her room watching over little Louena. She would sit there waiting for something to happen. Almost as if Louena could hear her mother's thoughts. Something happened. Della was about to exit the room door open mid stride as she heard the cracking of an egg. Della turned around to see a crack on the egg's surface. Della was happy, nervous, excited all at the same time also she got to hit the red button the one that lets the whole family Louena is hatching, or under attack.
Donald was the first to notice the red flash, he spat out his coffee and sped off to Della's room. Next up was Scrooge who saw the red light and took his tea to Della's room. No need to run when you're right down the hall though his pace was much faster than usual. Next up was Huey and Dewey who saw it at the same time, and immediately raced up the stairs to Della's room. After that June noticed the signal and held it up to show her other sisters in the room. The flashing red light. They both bowed to each other ending their match in a draw as the trio quickly switched into their normal daytime attire. Beakley was mid breakfast making, so when she was finished she brought it up to everyone with something to eat. Then she went to gather a green and a blue blanket for Louena when she was done hatching. She decided the light green blanket was good enough.
The family was eager to see Louena for the first time, however Louena had other plans apparently. It took her ten minutes, but she finally was out of the shell. Followed by oohs and aahs, Beakley had taken a moment to hand Della diapers and a light green blanket. Della did the honors of putting on Louena's and wrapping Louena in the blanket Beakley. Second order of business for Della in particular was to calm down Louena who had been crying during the whole ordeal. She rocked her for a moment after a few more minutes she was finally asleep. "Hey, would you look at her asleep." Della said, looking at her baby girl in green. The family did a very quiet golf clap into light giggles.
"Kids, let's give Della some space. We can come back later to let you meet and maybe hold Louena." Mrs Beakley stated knowing Della would want at least an hour alone with Louena before she would let anyone else hold Louena.
Della would sit there in the room holding Louena on her bed. She would think about her time on the moon again. The things she missed while she was there. Yet in her arms were all those things she missed on the moon, such as first steps, crawling, terrible twos, and of course the day they hatched. She would sit there smiling, probably because she knew that this moment wouldn't last forever, also she figures in a few months she'll have her hands full with all the crying and lack of sleep she laughed at herself. Louena would toss and turn about 30 minutes of a nap and decided to open her eyes for the first time. Della was inspired in that moment the same way she saw her boys for the first time. "I'm going to be the best Mother ever, and or die trying." Della said tickling Louena with her pointer finger. Louena would look at her with a smile who was trying to get her bearings. "Ooh let's go meet the family, and also breakfast for you." Della said nuzzling Louena who seemed happy so she was going to take that as she was game. She would put Louena in a little green shirt with little hearts and flowers. "Daw. ok lets go." She would exit her room with Louena in hand.
"So first up we have the girls." she said as she walked past May, June, and Webby first who were deciding what they were going to do today. They just happened to be the first people they ran into in the manor. "This is May, June, and Webby your cousin's. Uncle Scrooge's kids. They are the muscle, ladies of adventure, just like your's truly." she explained high fiving the three sisters. "Between me and you, your honorary sisters." she whispered to Louena causing the trio to laugh.
"Hey Della, hey Louena," said June. Webby and May followed behind and waved at the duo.
"Hey kids, what are yall up to today?" asked Della.
"Deciding if we're going to Funzo's or bugging you to let us hold Louena." May answered Webby shrugged and nodded smiling.
"Hmm… why not both, but after I give her the family tour." Della said with the trio of girls cheering as they ran to the living room. Della watched them run off Louena would also watch as they ran off giggling. Della would shrug and walk towards the kitchen. She would see Beakley cleaning up from what she assumed was breakfast. " Hey Mrs. B." Della said, waving at her with her open arm.
"Good morning Della, how is little Louena doing?" asked Mrs. Beakley.
"Louena is doing fine, say hi to Mrs. Beakley," Della responded with Louena looking at her with a blank baby stare. "Actually do you have the baby bottles with the baby fo-" Della was about to ask when Beakley handed her a baby bottle.
"I'm not the best granny for nothing" she said with a wink. "Let me know if you need anything else .I have other manners I have to attend to." she would walk away from the duo to get other things around the house done.
"Between you and I she's a spy." Della whispered to Louena, booping her nose, and feeding her the bottle. She would exit the kitchen conveniently to the ducks she was looking for Donald and Scrooge were arguing about something trivial that sounded like Donald planned to leave conflicts with his plans to adventure. They both stopped after Della walked in. "Morning you two. These are your uncles, and yes they do fight this often." Della said glaring at the two who both tugged at their collars.
"Ahh Louena Della if ain't some of my favorite nieces." Uncle Scrooge walked over to greet Della and talk to Louena for the first time. "Daw, she looks just like you." Scrooge acknowledged holding on to her tiny hand. Louena would look at her Uncles. Donald would follow and wave at little Louena.
"She really does look like you. Lemme guess family tour?" asked Donald.
"You know it Donald." Della responded. She would feed more of the bottle to hungry Louena.
"Who's left on the tour?" Scrooge asked. He would let go of Louena.
"I think it's just the boys I think?" she speculated, "I'm sure the extended family will show up eventually." Della stated, "What are you two arguing about?"
"Oh no nothing but a little family squabble." Scrooge downplayed as they both glared at each other and went their separate ways. "We should be getting to our business and have a wonderful day, and happy birthday Louena." Scrooge tickled her cheek with his finger one last time then would truly leave causing Louena to smile. Donald would follow Uncle Scrooge still explaining his plan to Scrooge who was unhappy.
"Come on Louena, let's blow this popsicle stand." Della said walking looking for the last two who were in their room right next door causing her to face palm. She would open the door and here are your twin brothers. "Hubert and Dewford, but we mostly call them Huey and Dewey." Della said as she burped Louena from lunch. Tour took quite a long time for the big family.
Dewey would close his script book and quickly move over to Della and Louena. Shortly followed by Huey who closed his JWG to join his brother in greeting Della and their baby sister. "Hey Mom, Hey Louena." Dewey seemed really excited to meet his baby sister for the second time today. "How is she doing?"
"She's doing fine, she seems to be having a good time, ain't that right Louena." Della looked at Louena who seemed like it was nap time already she could tell from the drowsy look in Louena's eyes, and her shortly drifting off to sleep. "I guess it's naptime." Della looked at Huey and Dewey.
"So let me guess, family tour." Huey accurately guessed.
"Yep." Della answered, "You would have been first on the tour, but I couldn't find you, I thought you'd be downstairs."
"Actually your timing is perfect Dewey and I just got back from the store." Huey said, gesturing at a bag.
"Yeah we got Louena a birthday present while you were giving the family tour. That's the real reason you didn't find us sooner. We wanted it to be a surprise, but now that you're here. So…" Dewey said pulling out a small green bandana, "We couldn't decide on color, but we think green was the right choice; it just suits her, so well. And why are you crying?" Dewey looked at his mom who was smiling and crying.
"Just so proud of you two being amazing… big brother's is all" Della said sniffling a little wiping off her eyes.
"We managed to put it together with the allowance Scrooge gave us. Dewey was the one who picked it out. I came for financing and emotional support." Huey explained handing the bandana to her which she put on Louena. "So what was your plan for the rest of the day?"
"Oh the girls wanted to hold Louena, said they wanted to be the first before you two." said Della.
"Those traders, to battle for who gets to hold Louena first." Dewey stated the twins ran out laughing towards the living room.
"And that's our family, and welcome to it little Louena." She said looking down at the sleeping baby in her arms.
