I do not own Harry Potter, nor Assassins Creed, I'm not imaginative enough to make up franchises like that.
Hello guys, Badger here. I hope you are all doing well. Here we have chapter 3. It took some time to piece this chapter together, but after some planning and looking at the rest of the plans for part 1 of this crossover trilogy, I think I've made something you will enjoy.
But, I'll leave that for you to decide. For now, read on, I hope you enjoy and I will see you at the end.
Chapter 3
A Wand For The Assassin
Toma and James made themselves comfortable in a room Dumbledore had allocated for them to use, whilst they stayed at Hogwarts. Toma began writing a letter for their Mentors which, according to the Headmaster, they can give to a Hogwarts Owl, which will deliver it to whoever the letter was addressed to. James meanwhile, began searching every nook and cranny in the room, making sure that they were truly safe in the room and it wasn't some kind of trap and that people weren't listening in on any conversations they have.
"Relaxat Te, my Brother" Toma said, causing James to stop his search "What has you so paranoid?"
"You really think we can trust these people to help our cause?" James asked, beginning to pace back and forth
"I forget you aren't as trusting as others, though admittedly that isn't necessarily a bad thing" Toma replied, sighing gently "My instincts tells me we can trust them…however, we will see what the Mentors have to say about the matter…in the meantime, relax and rest…we have to be at our best, for when we continue Novice Potter's training"
"I can't relax" James growled slightly "Not when the Templars seem to be growing in numbers, and power, every day…more and more of our Brothers and Sisters have died at the hands of those Tyrants…and now, with a Dark Lord believed to be dead, hoping to restore his body and power, the Assassins Creed could be wiped out entirely if this Dark Lord does join the Templars!"
"I understand your concerns my Brother" Toma said, softly "I was one of those that trained you, after all…believe me, I have similar fears for The Creeds future should this Dark Lord and the Templars form an alliance…all we can do, right now, is hope that doesn't happen…and if it does, I have no doubt that every one of our Brothers and Sisters will continue to fight for our cause, until their dying breaths"
…
Harry was woken up by a bright beam of sunlight peeking out from behind the curtains around his bed. Mentally cursing the sun for waking him up, Harry slowly got out of his bed and began changing into a fresh pair of his Novice robes. He almost didn't want to get up. After spending days travelling on foot and sleeping rough in the woods and in the dirt, he was happy to have a comfortable bed for once. Due to spending the last few nights sleeping on rough ground, his body was stiff, making it difficult to get into his robes, but after a few painful moments, he finally got into it and started making his way out of the Common Room and towards the Great Hall for breakfast.
As he made his way down, every student he passed gave him weird looks. Most likely because of the robes he was wearing and why. He ignored those looks as he continued on his way, until he reached the Great Hall. He must've been here early, as there weren't that many students sat at the tables. Most of the students present were at the Ravenclaw Table. Once more, ignoring the stares the students were giving him, Harry sat down at the Ravenclaw Table and began piling some food onto the plate in front of him. He didn't realise how hungry he was until now.
Whilst he ate, he listened in on the conversations going on around him. One thing everyone in The Creed was taught: always be aware of your surroundings. It took a moment, but Harry realised people were, as quietly as they could, talking about him. From what he could hear, they seemed to be curious about where he has been for the past ten years and who Master Atsu and Warrior Badger were. Harry shook his head slightly, as he continued eating his breakfast, however he looked up when he saw one of the Professors approach him.
"Mr Potter" The Professor nodded respectfully "I am Professor Flitwick, Ravenclaw's Head of House…the Headmaster, Professor Dumbledore, has asked for me to escort you to his office after breakfast"
"May I ask why, I'm not in trouble am I?" Harry asked "And, forgive my attitude, but its Novice Potter"
"I apologise, Novice Potter" Flitwick smiled at the boys politeness "And you are, of course, forgiven…and don't worry, you aren't in trouble…it's come to our attention that you do not have a wand on your person…as a student of Hogwarts, you will need a wand to practice magic, and continue to use magic should you choose to stay in the Wizarding World after your education…Professor Dumbledore has summoned Ollivander, a wandmaker, to get your wand sorted…just let me know when you are ready and I will escort you there"
"Okay, thank you Professor" Harry nodded, a small smile on his face
Flitwick nodded, smiling, in return, before heading back towards the Professors table, allowing Harry to continue eating his breakfast, undisturbed.
…
Quirrell's breakfast sat forgotten on his plate, as the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, was glaring daggers at the Boy-Who-Lived. His Master was still wary of the men accompanying Potter. The two weren't magical, but his Master could sense great danger within the two. Last night, after dinner, his Master instructed Quirrell to find out more about the two and who, exactly, they were. He wanted to know if the two would pose a threat to his plans and if they did, he could have them killed before it was too late.
…
After finishing his breakfast, Harry was escorted to the Headmasters Office by Professor Flitwick. He had already seen the Griffin Statue move, revealing a grand staircase, once already but seeing it once more still left Harry in awe. Entering the office, alongside Flitwick, he saw the Headmaster along with Master Atsu and a strange looking, elderly man he had never seen before, waiting for him in the office. Bowing to Master Atsu, a gesture the older Assassin returned.
"Morning Master Atsu" Harry said, looking around "May I ask, where is Warrior Badger?"
"Warrior Badger is currently unavailable" Toma replied "After spending most of his time last night, making sure our room wasn't a trap, I had him rest for the day, so your training will continue tomorrow"
"Why would Mr…sorry, Warrior Badger believe the room is a trap?" Dumbledore asked, still getting used to The Creeds customs
"Oh, don't take offence" Toma reassured "Warrior Badger is not as trusting as our Brothers and Sisters…a trait that has saved not only him but the Brotherhood on many occasions…do not worry, in time he'll trust you"
"I see" Dumbledore nodded, in understanding, before turning to Harry "I hope you are well this morning Harry…I take it Flitwick has told you why I have summoned you here"
"He has" Harry replied "As I understand, I am in need of a wand if I am to seek an education here"
"You are correct" Dumbledore smiled, gesturing to the elderly man beside him, who had a large trunk of some kind "This is Mr Garrick Ollivander, an expert wandmaker in Britain, he will find the wand for you…I'll leave the rest to you Ollivander"
"Thank you Albus" Ollivander said, opening his trunk "I must say, Mr Potter, you are not like any other wizard I have matched a wand for"
"It's Novice Potter, sir" Harry replied politely
"Ah yes, I apologise, I have been informed by Master Atsu of The Creeds customs" Ollivander smiled, before removing a tape measure from the trunk "Now, Novice Potter, which is your dominant arm?"
"My right arm" Harry replied, where Ollivander began measuring him "Sir, may I ask, why do you need to measure my arm?"
"Wands are not mere instruments Novice Potter" Ollivander said, measuring every inch of his arm "Wands, are sentient in ways many wandmakers have tried to explore and understand…you see, no two wands are the same, even if they possess the same wood and core, each wand is as unique as their owners…for the wand chooses the wizard, not the other way around"
"Fascinating" Toma spoke up, in awe "These wandmakers, have any of them figured out how wands are sentient?"
"Unfortunately no" Ollivander sighed, as he finished his measurements "The sentience of wands are a form of magic even the greatest wandmakers in Magical History can scarcely understand…I hope that, one day, the truth behind a wands sentience is discovered, though I believe that will happen long after my time…for now though, lets find the wand that calls to Novice Potter"
"How will I know if the wand is the one that calls to me?" Harry asked
"Trust me when I say, you'll know" Ollivander smiled, as he went back to his trunk, rummaging around for a few moments, before pulling out a black box which he opened "Hmm, 10 ¼ inches, made from Elder Wood, with a Dragon Heartstring core…a tricky wand to master, yet a wand that possesses powerful magic for those that wield it…give it a wave and we'll see if it's the wand for you"
Ollivander carefully handed and ornate and elegant looking wand, the wood was dark with a silver handle. Harry felt a tingly feeling run through his body as he took the wand, his fingers wrapping around the handle. Doing as Ollivander instructed, he gave the wand a wave, where a jet of light was blasted across the room, nearly hitting Master Atsu who had to dodge the incoming light, as the recoil nearly threw Harry backwards, as the jet of light impacted a shelve which collapsed, causing a variety of instruments to clatter along the ground.
"I'm sorry" Harry said, to Dumbledore, as he looked at all the instruments scattered along the floor
"No need to apologise" Dumbledore smiled, reassuringly "Nothing a simple repairing charm can't fix, though it's clear that wand isn't for you"
"Indeed" Ollivander muttered, as he took the wand back, putting it back in his box "But don't fret Novice Potter, we'll find the wand that calls to you…every witch and wizard has a destined wand…now let's see"
Ollivander spent a few more minutes looking in his trunk, before removing another box. Opening it, Ollivander removed another wand, that was light brown in colour. It was one singular piece of wood, which had a more hand carved look to it. Examining it for a few moments, Ollivander had a curious look on his face.
"12 inches, made from Cypress wood with a Phoenix feather core" He said "A wand for the brave and bold, capable of the greatest range of magic…but we'll see"
Ollivander handed the wand to Harry. Like the previous wand, Harry felt a tingle as he wrapped his fingers around the handle, though the tingle wasn't as powerful as it was with the previous wand. Giving the wand a wave, Harry felt some kind of backlash from the wand, causing it to fly out of his hand, clattering on the ground several feet away, as it burnt him slightly. Harry cradled his hand, as Ollivander removed his own wand and summoned the wand to him, putting it back in its box.
"Another fail" He said, as he looked at his trunk "Hmm…let's try one of the wands deeper in the trunk, why don't we?"
Harry watched as Ollivander practically climbed into the trunk, as he dug deeper, to grab a wand near the bottom of the trunk. After several moments of rummaging, the elderly wandmaker climbed back out, a dusty box in his hands. Blowing the dust off of, Ollivander opened the box and removed a wand, jet black in colour. It was a singular piece of wood, where Harry could see that the handle of the wand was carved into the head of an eagle.
"11 ¾ inches in length, made from Hornbeam wood with…a Thunderbird Tail core, not something I use often for my wands" Ollivander said "Difficult to master, yet performs powerful magic and, due to the properties of the wood, the wand will match its owners passion, as well as absorb their code of honour, whatever that may be"
Gingerly, Harry reached out and took the wand as Ollivander held it out for him to take. To Harry's surprise, as soon as he grabbed the handle, he felt a huge surge of power run through his body, as he began to glow a golden hue. There was also ripples of wind blowing across the room, as the flames on the candles got brighter. It lasted for several seconds, before it died down. Harry looked confused at what just happened, but judging from the look on Ollivander's face, it must've been a good thing.
"It's a match!" The Wandmaker said gleefully "That is a powerful wand, Mr Potter, I expect great things from you"
"I don't mean to be a bother" Harry replied "But, do you have anything I can put my wand in…I don't have any pouches on my robes allowing me to store it safely"
"Ah, I figured you would ask" Ollivander smiled, before removing some kind of holster from his trunk "This will attach to any belt you have, all you have to do is put the wand in the slot"
"Which reminds me, Master Atsu, I wanted to speak to you about Novice Potters attire" Dumbledore spoke up, using his wand to repair the broken shelving unit "As a Hogwarts student, he is required to wear Hogwarts robes"
"Ah, I understand Dumbledore" Toma said "However, the robes of the Assassins Creed, is more then just a robe, it is a uniform, by wearing the uniform it units us as a Brotherhood…unless instructed so by the Mentors, an Assassin is not allowed to remove their robes, aside from sleeping and washing of course"
"Hmm, whilst Novice Potter would be required to wear Hogwarts robes, I guess I can make an exception this one time" Dumbledore replied, a gentle smile on his face "I will, of course, let the other Professors know, so they don't take points off of Harry, or give him detention, for violating the schools dress code…now though, seeing that business here is concluded, you may go Novice Potter, and I hope you enjoy your time here at Hogwarts"
"Yes and make sure you get enough rest tonight, Novice Potter" Toma said "you will need enough energy for your training tomorrow…I need to talk a few things over with Dumbledore, so if I don't see you again today, I will see you for your training"
Harry bowed before he left the office, attaching the holster Ollivander had given him to his sash belt, slipping the wand into slot pointed out to him by the elderly wandmaker. Leaving the office, Harry decided to head towards the library, in hopes of finding some books to read, so he at least knows some of the basics, so he is ready for his school lessons the next day. He didn't want to seem inept or incompetent compared to his classmates. After asking an older student for directions to the library, he eventually arrived, where he couldn't help but marvel at the size of it. The library was bigger then Harry was expecting, though he knew the Assassins Creeds Archives were much bigger. The library was still grand though.
Ignoring the looks, the few occupants present, were giving him, Harry started looking on the shelves for a few books to help him. It took a while, but he eventually found a few to get him started. Picking them out, Harry took a seat on a nearby table, and began reading through the contents. He wasn't sat down for long, before he heard someone sit down opposite him. Looking up, he saw a girl his age sat there, with books of her own, dressed in Hogwarts robes, trimmed with a crimson red and a crest on the left side, red and gold, consisting of a golden lion with the word Gryffindor embedded on a golden ribbon. Her eyes were a chocolate brown and her brown hair was long and frizzy. Harry looked around briefly, where he saw there were plenty of empty seats for her to take, making him wonder if she sat here on purpose.
"Can I help you miss?" He asked
"Are you really Harry Potter?" The girl asked
"Yes I am" Harry replied, confused "Why do you ask?"
"Well, it's just, I've read several books written about you" She said "You don't look anything like the books described you as"
"What's your name, miss?" Harry asked, leaning back in his seat, removing his attention from the book in front of him
"Hermione" the girl replied "Hermione Granger"
"Well, Hermione, I didn't know I had books written about me, so I don't know what they've said about me" Harry said "Though, I can guarantee, anything they have written about me, is fake"
"I see" Hermione said to herself, before leaning forward in her seat "Forgive me for asking, but why are you wearing those robes?"
"These robes are a uniform, like those robes you wear" Harry replied "By code of the Assassins Creed, Brothers and Sisters all have to wear them, unless told otherwise"
"Assassins?" Hermione paled, moving back slightly
"Yes" Harry replied "We are known as the Assassins Creed, but we aren't cutthroats like any fairytales stories you may read…we are a Brotherhood…we fight to bring peace to the world, and stop those who wish to enslave humanity"
"Really?" Hermione asked, relaxing a little, though she still had a question on her mind "Have you had to…kill anyone?"
"No…I am only a Novice" Harry said "A Novice doesn't fight…when I become and Initiate, then I will be required to kill if ordered to…however, The Creed doesn't kill anyone and everyone, especially innocents…despite being assassins we try to avoid as much bloodshed as possible"
"So…why are you here?" Hermione asked
"The Assassins Creed used to have witches and wizards amongst their ranks" Harry explained "However, there hasn't been a magical Assassin in centuries…because of that, The Creed no longer have the necessary resources to teach me how to use my magic…so, they decided to bring me here, so I can seek a Magical Education, whilst they continue my training…because I don't know anything about magic, I decided to come here to learn the basics so I am ready for lessons to start"
"Well, I've studied as much as I can, ever since I received my Hogwarts acceptance letter" Hermione said "I can help you, if you also tell me more about…the Assassins Creed"
"I can't tell you everything, there are some things best kept secret, but I'll try my best to tell you what I know and answer any questions you have" Harry smiled, a smile Hermione returned
…
Things were quiet, as an Assassin sat alone, meditating, to relax their mind. However, their eyes opened when they heard someone approaching. They slowly stood up and turned to face their fellow Assassin, looking a little irritated about being their meditation being disturbed.
"Master Nassar" They said "What is so urgent, you had to disrupt my meditation"
"I apologise Mentor Auditore" Master Nassar bowed, before showing a scroll in his hand "But you have received a message from Master Atsu"
Assassin Mentor, Hondo Auditore, the descendant to Ezio Auditore, removed their hood, revealing their darker skin, black hair and blue eyes, before taking the scroll from Master Nassar's hands. Removing the seal and unrolling the parchment, he was met with the familiar calligraphy of Master Atsu.
Greetings Mentor Auditore,
I am writing to report that we have successfully arrived at Hogwarts school. We were a little late, but our presence certainly gained a lot of attention. There was some apprehension from the school staff when we informed them who we were, but tensions seemed to ease when we told them of our cause and what The Assassins Creed was. The Headmaster, a Professor Albus Dumbledore, has granted us permission to continue training Novice Potter as he goes through his Magical Education.
Our meeting with Albus Dumbledore also brought to light, something that brings concern to both Warrior Badger and myself. According to Dumbledore, there is a Dark Lord, believed to be dead, but still lives, hiding away from the Magical World. According to Dumbledore, this Dark Lord was responsible for the death of Harry's parents and tried to kill Harry too, only for his spell to rebound. Dumbledore believes its only a matter of time until he returns and his followers rise again. As we informed Dumbledore of our war against the Templars, he believes that, there's a possibility that this Dark Lord would try to make an alliance with the Templars, as both have similar ideals and goals, therefore Dumbledore requested an alliance between him and The Assassins Creed, so the two of us can help one another. I find myself in agreement that an alliance is the best course of action to take.
I await your response and your, inevitable arrival to Hogwarts.
pro sanguine et pro fraternitate
Master Toma Atsu
"Seems they were successful in getting Novice Potter into Hogwarts" Mentor Auditore said "However, it also seems there is more going on there, then we first thought…something that could see the Templars gaining an advantage in this war"
"We can't allow that to happen Mentor Auditore!" Master Nassar said "The Templars already seem to be ahead of us, in the race to find the Piece of Eden in Britain, we can not allow them to gain an advantage!"
"You say that as if I don't know that, Master Nassar!" Mentor Auditore said, with a cold tone "Grab me a quill and some parchment so I can send a reply to Master Atsu…and gather a few willing Brothers and Sisters to accompany me, for when I go to join Master Atsu and Warrior Badger to oversee and help with Novice Potter's training…and speak more with this Albus Dumbledore, to see if an Alliance between us, is possible"
…
And that is Chapter 3 done. What did you guys think.
Writing Harry getting his wand took longer then it should've done, as I wanted Harry's wand to match well with the whole Assassin aspect. After spending quite some time, reading through the official wizarding worlds descriptions on each of the wand wood, I settled on Hornbeam as Hornbeam wands adapt to their owners passions and code of honour. As, in this story, Harry lives by the Assassins code, I felt like giving him a Hornbeam wand was a perfect match. Also, I hope to like the little detail of the handle of his wand being in the shape of an eagles head as, if I remember rightly, an eagle is one of the symbolising animals for the franchise, with the logo itself, apparently being the imprint of an eagles skull. So, consider the eagle head on his wand, as an Easter egg.
Now, one question I have for all of you. Who should Harry be friends with, in this story? I thought about Hermione being on of his friends in this story, which is why they had a brief conversation near the end of this story. I feel like the contrast between the two could make for an interesting friendship dynamic. However, Hermione is the only character I thought of. If you have any ideas for other characters for Harry to be friends with, please feel free to leave your suggestions either in the review section or by giving me a PM.
That is all for now. I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time, in whatever story I see you in.
