And now we're in chapter two folks. You know the drill, sit back and enjoy the ride.
Chapter 2: Magnus and the Dark Lord + DLC: Unknown Entities
Music playing: Magnus and the Dark Lord
"And we're off!" exclaimed Pit as he rushed out of the door to take off with his Wolf Claws. "Ugh. This weather's nasty." "Yes, but your next mission can't wait," explained Palutena. "You must defeat Dark Lord Gaol." "Heh. 'Dark Lord?' Seriously?" Pit scoffed. "Hasn't the dark-lord thing been done to death already?" "He's earned it," Palutena further explained. "He's working for Medusa. Her forces are coming from HIS castle. A human army has gone to fight him," she explained even further, "but they don't stand a chance." "So, what you're saying is we need a brave hero to face the dark lord?" Pit asked. "I supposed it IS and old story," replied Palutena. "But don't forget this is the Underworld Army we're dealing with. And anybody with the title 'dark lord' won't be some low-level minion." "So what are we talking here?" Pit asked. "Miniboss? ...Final boss? Well, whatever. I hope this dark lord's hungry for a plate of punishment!" Along the way, Pit took down a lot of different Underworld Army monsters who were getting in his way. Then he saw a lightning strike. "Augh!" he cried in shock. "Is this lightning coming from the Underworld Army?" "Where else would it be coming from?" asked Palutena. "Sorry..." Pit replied, sheepishly. "I guess that was pretty obvious." "If you don't watch out, we'll be having barbecued angel tonight," Palutena warned. "And though spicy angel wings sound tasty, I'd best get you out of there." "Plus...chicken is much more economical!" Pit yelled as he was being taken through the clouds down below. "Ahhhh!" he sighed in relief. "Much better!" "You still have to watch out for fire from Underworld troops," warned Palutena. "Let's get you headed toward land." As on queue, more Underworld monsters came from behind to stop him from getting to land. Luckily, Pit managed to take them down. Soon enough, he made it out of the clouds and has now arrived above mountains. "How in the world would the human army make it across these mountains by foot?" he wondered, smugly. "Do I detect a note of smugness in your voice?" Palutena questioned. "Uh... No, no, no!" Pit quickly replied. "I'm just really happy I can fly." "Angels shouldn't gloat, Pit," replied the goddess. "What I meant to say is that I'm eternally grateful for your help," Pit finished and ended the conversation. More and more Underworld monsters continue to try and stop Pit from reaching the castle and Pit continued to take them down out of harm's way. "Let's make our way underground," said Palutena as she guided Pit down into a chasm. "It's not the most cheerful place, is it?" "The Underworld baddies seem to like it," Pit replied, uncomfortably. "I suppose it makes sense they'd feel at home underground," agreed Palutena. "It'd be like living in a basement," said Pit. Along the way, more enemies continued to take him down, until Palutena stopped him. "Why did we stop?" Pit wondered. "Oh, I thought you might want to take in the sights," Palutena answered. "And destroy some monsters." During Pit's flight through the chasm, Palutena continued to stop him in different spots to take down more Underworld monsters. Then Pit flew out of there while collecting four more Recovery Orbs to replenish his health, until... "Pit, behind you!" warned Palutena. As on queue, a Belunka appeared right behind him. "Let me at 'em!" he exclaimed. "I'll control your flight path so you don't run into anything," said Palutena. "Just focus on shooting and dodging." "Got it!" Pit affirmed. Soon enough, the Belunka was taken down and Pit made it out of there. However, there was a wall blocking his path. "Dark Lord Gaol's castle is up ahead," said Palutena. "But...but what about that wall?!" asked the angel. "Don't worry," said his goddess. "I'll help you over." As on queue, she increased the Power of Flight's power to send Pit over the wall. "Whoaaaa!" he exclaimed, "G-force in my faaace!" "It's fun, right?" asked Palutena. During the speedy flight, Pit took down a lot more Underworld enemies, who of course don't stand a chance against the heroic angel. Then, he made it out of the chasm. "Yeah!" Pit cheered. "Take that, wall!" Just then he spotted a war of humans and Underworld monsters attacking from down below. "Look!" he exclaimed. "The people will never defeat Gaol with the Underworld forces in their way," said Palutena, worried. "The humans are taking a beating!" said Pit, shocked. "They need our help!" Unfortunately, there was only one problem. "Normally I'd agree with you, but..." Palutena began. "What is it?" asked Pit. "Do you remember how long the Power of Flight lasts?" asked the goddess. "Five...minutes?" Pit reluctantly replied. "And remember what happens when it runs out?" Palutena continued. "My wings...burn up?" Pit replied again. "We don't have time to assist the people. We have to go straight for Gaol," explained Palutena. "I'll take you into the castle. From there, it's up to you to face the dark lord. His defeat will force the Underworld Army to retreat." "Roger!" Pit affirmed. "Get ready for a display of raw angel power!" He was then sent into the castle where he must face his target.

Pit landed into the castle to continue with his mission. "So this is the dark lord's castle," he said, after he ate the food waiting for him. "Yes, he must've scrambled to build it after Medusa's resurrection," replied Palutena. "He's using this castle as a stronghold for Underworld monsters. Monsters designed to wreak havoc and sow sadness. Are you excided?" "Yeah," Pit annoyingly replied, "It's like a birthday party where everyone wants to kill me." "Make your way to the great hall down the first floor," Palutena told him. Pit did so and saw more Underworld monsters blocking his way. "This must be the great hall," he said. "At the top of the stairs, there's a door with switches across from it," explained Palutena. "Switches, huh?" said Pit. "That probably means I should hit them!" "Very...perceptive of you, Pit," replied Palutena, unconvinced. Soon enough, Pit managed to flip all of the switches while taking down more Underworld monsters and unlocked the door. "The door's unlocked now," said Palutena, then she noticed an enemy appeared to block Pit's way. "They enemy with the big skull guarding the door is a Ganewmede," she explained. "They'll attack when fired at, but they don't do much at all if you don't shoot them. So I suggest using melee attacks or dash shots to take them down." Pit did what he was told and took it down with a swift slash of his claws. After he got out of there, Palutena sensed something. "I'm sensing treasure somewhere to your left," she said. "How do you know that?" Pit wondered. "From the heavens," explained Palutena. "I can see through your laurel crown to divine your surroundings." "Really?" Pit exclaimed, "That's amazing!" "And that's not all I can see, Pit," Palutena explained further, "I can also see what's in your heart." Pit thought about what she told him for a moment before saying while chuckling nervously, "Oh... Heh heh... That's really...something." "So you'd better not be thinking about anything...naughty," Palutena teased. "What?!" Pit cried, shocked. "How did you—?!" "Just kidding," giggled Palutena. "Seriously? Reading hearts through laurel crowns?" "I know..." Pit stuttered. "I was...also kidding." "Sure you were," replied Palutena. But it turns out that the treasure box was a trap and underworld monsters appeared out of nowhere. "The monster situation is quite clamant," said Palutena. "Is that...a good thing?" asked Pit, confused. "You know, it's importunate," Palutena replied. "Or unpropitious." But Pit was still confused what she was talking about. "Are you still speaking English right now?" he asked her. "I'm sorry, Pit," she replied. "I didn't mean to confuse you. Let me make this easier for you." She then yelled out in the silliest way possible, "Big monsters kill Pit grr!" "Ah, that makes perfect sense!" replied Pit, satisfied. "Thank you!" After the little scuffle from the Underworld Army, Pit continues forward and headed down some stairs. "You're heading to the lower level of the interior garden," said Palutena. Along the way, Pit found a secret room, entered a Zodiac Chamber, and picked up the Sagittarious Bow. After that, he headed back out of there to continue the mission by going down more steps. Along the way, he rushed into the garden and saw someone fighting and defeating Underworld monsters. "Look at that!" he exclaimed. "How did a human make it into the castle?" Palutena wondered in shock. Just then, the human saw Pit. "Well, I didn't expect to see an angel here," he said, surprised. "Hope this doesn't mean I've kicked the bucket."
Music stops and switches to: Magnus' Theme
"I think you should help him," Palutena suggested to the angel. "He's taking the Underworld Army himself...and surviving!" he exclaimed. "Are you sure this guy is really a human?" "Absolutely," replied Palutena. "You having a private conversation with yourself, angel face?" asked the human. "Oh right. Sorry about that," replied Pit before introducing himself. "I'm Pit, servant of the goddess Palutena. I'm here to defeat Dark Lord Gaol." "So you're here for a slice of the pie too?" asked the human. "Huh? Pie? Where?" asked the confused angel before regaining his senses. "No, I mean... I'm here to defend the humans from the brutality of the Underworld Army." "Sure, sure, you're the angel here," said the human. "But me, I'm in it for the reward money. Since we both want to take down Gaol, how about we work together?" "I don't know about that..." replied Pit, unconcerned. "What have you got to lose?" asked the human, "It'll be easier on both of us." "Lady Palutena...what do you think?" Pit asked his goddess. "He makes a compelling argument," she replied. "All right, then," Pit complied. "Resuming mission Dark-Lord Suppression!" "I'm Magnus, by the way," the human introduced himself. "Pleased to meet you. Don't hit me, and we'll get along just fine." After they took down all of the Underworld monsters, Pit and Magnus continued onwards. "I'll follow your lead from here," said the human. "I've got your back." Along the way, the two of them encountered more and more Underworld monsters. Luckly for the dynamic duo, they managed to take all of them down and continued onwards. "Magnus sure is strong," said Pit. "Yes, especially for a human," agreed Palutena. "He must really want that reward," Pit wondered. "He may not be made of the sturdiest moral fiber, but that's fine with me," said Palutena. "I'm surprised you feel that way," Pit replied. "Humans are driven by desire," said Palutena. "It's convenient to know what bait they'll chase." "That's kinda cold, but it makes sense. I guess," Pit said, uncomfortably. "Hey, if you're chatting with your precious goddess, give her a message from me," said Magnus. "Tell her she's been sleeping on the job! My world is on the edge of collapse!" "I take it back," said Palutena, annoyed. "This guy's a jerk." "O...K..." said the confused angel, ending the conversation. After that, the duo continued to fight against more Underworld enemies until all of them were annihilated. Just then, the two of them entered a room and Pit was shocked to see something. "Wait, is this...?" he wondered. "Ha! It is! A Hot Spring!" "Apparently, someone likes his spa time," said Magnus. Pit then got into the Hot Spring. "Ahhh..." the angel sighed in relaxation. "Now that's what I'm talking about!" "You go in fully dressed?" asked Magnus. "Don't you at least want to change into a...swimming tunic or something?" "Oh, no no no!" replied the angel. "The angel's code of conduct says that we must always be ready for duty." "I guess you wouldn't be an angel if you didn't do things by the book," agreed Magnus. "Yeah...and I don't want to steam the sacred buns," Pit added. "We're done talking about this," said the uncomfortable human, ending the conversation. Once they're done relaxing in the hot spring, the two of them headed out to continue their mission. Just then, Pit noticed something on this left. "Yeah! A treasure box!" he exclaimed in excitement. "That's clearly a trap," warned Magnus, "Think about it. Who would leave treasure just lying around outside?" Unfortunately, Pit didn't listen to his warning and went to collect the loot from the chest, which of course brought out Underworld monsters out of nowhere. "What is wrong with you?!" exclaimed Magnus. "If there's a treasure box, I open it!" Pit replied. "I can't help it!" "OK, we'll see how long you survive with that strategy!" said the human and the two of them fought against the monsters until not one of them were left standing. They then proceeded through the castle where they have to go up a long, spiraling pathway. "It looks like a long way up," Pit groaned. "What, do your legs not work or something?" replied Magnus. As usual, there's more Underworld monsters trying to stop them from reaching the dark lord. But luckily, the two of them still took them down and proceeded onwards and they're closer to the lair. "I think we're closing in on Gaol's lair," said Pit. "I hope you're ready," replied Magnus. Pit then received another Drink of the Gods and both him and Magnus entered the lair.
Music stops and switches to: Boss Fight 1
The two of them arrived in the throne room where Gaol was waiting. "Prepare for defeat, Dark Lord Gaol!" shouted the angel. "Aw, Palutena's little messenger boy," replied Gaol until he noticed someone. "And Magnus, it's always a pleasure." "Sorry I'm late," he told Gaol. "I had other business to attend to." "Wait, you two know each other?" asked the confused angel. The three of them began their fight and Gaol attacked by charging at either one of them and shooting lasers to stop them. During the fight, Magnus and Gaol seem to have a conversation. "It's so typical of you to pawn off your work on someone else," said Gaol. "Hey! In this economy, everyone's looking for work," replied Magnus. "Even part-time work." "That's funny," said the dark lord. "Business is booming for me. We're even hiring more staff!" The new staff appeared to be two Skuttlers from the Underworld Army. "Huh, are these the new hires?" asked Magnus. Palutena heard what's going on and decided to tell Pit what they're talking about as much as she could. "I don't know much about the situation..." she began. "But it seems that Magnus and Gaol used to be close friends." "What?! Seriously?!" exclaimed Pit, surprised. "They were part of the same band of monster-fight mercenaries," Palutena continued. "But Gaol's heart was weak and he couldn't resist the temptation of the Underworld." "Seeing them fighting, it's hard to believe they were ever friends," said Pit. "Magnus only knows one way to fight: ferociously," Palutena further continued, sadly. "Perhaps his fire is fueled by the child he lost to Underworld troops." "I had no idea," Pit replied, sadly. "That's so sad..." "Hey, enough chitchat!" shouted Magnus, "We need to concentrate here!" "Feeling a little agitated, Magnus?" Gaol taunted. "Don't make me laugh, 'dark lord,'" Magnus replied. "Now put on some pants, and fight like a man!" Nobody said anything else and continued the fight. And then, Gaol was defeated. "Dark lord suppressed!" Pit cheered in victory. "Nice work, angel face!" replied Magnus, proudly. However, after Gaol's defeat, the dark aura around her disappeared from her and she collapsed to the ground. The helmet from the armor shattered upon contacting the floor, revealing that Gaol...was a human. "...I'm sorry it had to come to this," said Magnus, sadly, upon seeing her. "Gaol was a human?" cried Pit in shock. "I-I didn't know... What have I done..." "You can't feel bad," said Palutena, comforting the angel. "Just think of all the other people you've saved. Besides, she looks like she's still holding on." "Really?!" Pit exclaimed in relief. "But we need to regroup," Palutena continued, "The war against Medusa is just starting." Pit was about to see the truth, but Palutena whisked him away in a light pillar.

Meanwhile, the trapped figure sensed something very unusual. "Hmm..." he started. "It looks like you've just lost another commander. However, that commander was a human. Mind explaining how you got Gaol to join your side, Pandora?" "Her soul was weak and easy to manipulate as a slave," she replied. "And because of that, there was no way she would get out of there." "But what about that child you ruthlessly murdered?" the figure asked. "Why would you even go so far in doing that?" "That wasn't us, you idiot!" Pandora shouted. "We had another group of demons who were supposed to do our bidding. But instead, they went too far in killing those humans, including that child, rather than taking them alive to become our slaves!" This made the figure smile sinisterly. "We were supposed to take the humans to make them our slaves," she continued. "NOT kill them right away! If the slaves were proven useless to us, we would kill them afterwards." "Interesting..." said the figure. "But that still doesn't change the fact that he will set me free. You will feel my wrath once I'm out of this prison." "Hah! As if that's gonna happen," laughed Pandora. The figure still didn't care and continued to wait until the day he will escape from the mirror.

For those of you who are wondering what they were talking about, in my headcanon, I don't think the Underworld Army would go too far in killing humans right away. They were just framed by another group of unfamiliar demons which I will get to later on. But until then, stay tuned for chapter three, review, and have a nice day!
