Chapter 5: Pandora's Labyrinth of Deceit + DLC: Broken Prison
Music playing: Pandora's Labyrinth of Deceit
Pit rushed to the door and flew out with the Standard Orbitars equipped. "Your destination is Pandora's Labyrinth of Deceit," explained Palutena. "The Reapers certainly hid it well..." But all Pit could see was only sky. "What are you talking about?" he asked. "I don't see anything." Right after he said that, he spotted a crack opening up. "Whoa!" he cried. "And here we have a space pocket," said Palutena. "In you go!" "O-OK!" Pit replied, reluctantly, as he flew into the space pocket. He then began to take down more Underworld enemies. "This is getting weird..." he said. "You'd have to be pretty out there to base your operations in a place like this," Palutena replied. "Well, Pandora has always been pretty out there," Pit stated. "It's true," agreed Palutena. "The Goddess of Calamity even LOOKS pretty out there. I guess it's no surprise the path to her would be twisted as she is." "'Twisted?'" said Pit, uncomfortable. "I'd say 'unhinged' is more like it!" During the pathway to his destination, it looks a bit wonky due to how it changes every now and then. Just then, Pit noticed an entrance to somewhere. "What's that?" he asked. "Pandora's Labyrinth of Deceit!" replied Palutena. Upon entering, the area of the Labyrinth looks really strange due to the way its designed. "Whoa!" he said in disbelief. "This is not what I expected," said Palutena in the same feeling. Along the way, there were more Underworld enemies standing in his way. Then, red pillars appeared in front of Pit to block his way. "You have to watch out for those red posts," warned Palutena. More and more appeared to stop Pit and he continued to dodge them while taking down more enemies. One of the ways to continue appeared to be a fake. "This is crazy!" Pit yelled in shock. "Tricky. Tricky. A false path..." said Palutena. "Pandora is trying to psych you out." She them escorted Pit to a different path. "How does Pandora come up with this stuff?" the angel asked. "Messing with people is what she does best," Palutena replied. Pit then continued to defeat more enemies and dodge more red pillars... until he got blocked by a fake path again. "Not again!" he groaned. "Uh-huh," Palutena agreed. "Another psych out." Pit then took another path and defeated more enemies who stood in his way. Then he continued foward to another path. "Going down!" said Palutena. "OK!" affirmed Pit. He then proceeded to take down more enemies while avoiding too many illusions. Just then, there were only two different paths Pit must take. "The path branches up ahead," Palutena explained. "Tell you what—I'll let you decide which way to go this time." "Does that mean you don't know the way?" Pit asked. (A/N: Okay. I'm sorry to say this dead meme but... do you know de way? Okay I'll stop.) Pit took the right path first which was the wrong way. "This is a dead end!" he said. "Looks like you're trapped," said Palutena. "Pulling you out of there!" Pit then proceeded to the left path and continued onward. Along the way, there were more obstacles blocking his path. "Oh, my," Palutena gasped. "We can't let her get to us!" Pit yelled. "I have to hustle before the Power of Flight runs out." "That would be...problematic," said Palutena. "You see, I can't extract you if Pandora's powers are still active." "I'll just pretend you didn't say that," said Pit, uncomfortably. He then got out of that tunnel and is then ambushed by more enemies. "It's a Handora ambush!" yelled Palutena. "Wha—?!" Pit yelped. "It's Pandora time already?!" "No, no, I said Handora," Palutena corrected him. "You know, the...hand...monster." "Fore a master of deceit, that's pretty weak!" Pit said. He then took out the Handoras and proceeded onwards in his path once he found the way out. "A way out!" he cried in relief. "Now's your chance!" said Palutena. Then Pit found himself back on sky again. "Wait a second..." he started. "Whoa! I'm outside now?" However, Palutena doesn't buy it. "This could be another trick..." she wondered. "But it all seems so real..." Pit replied, after receieving four more Recovery Orbs to replenish his health. He then continued to take down more enemies... and then everything went dark. And now Pit was back in the Labyrinth again. "Well, THIS is confusing," he said. "It isn't called the Labyrinth of Deceit for nothing, Pit," replied Palutena. "The name is the only straighfowared thing about this place!" said Pit, until he noticed the branched paths again. "The path branches again," Palutena told him. First, Pit went into the left path which was the wrong way. "Ugh, don't tell me this is a dead end!" he groaned. "Let's go back before the Power of Flight runs out," replied Palutena as she got him out. Pit them entered the right path which confused him even more. "Is THIS a dead end?" he asked. "Yes...? No...? Uh..." said Palutena as she struggled to comprehend. "We're losing our grip here!" Pit shouted in worry. "No, I just need to think," replied Palutena. "Could you think a little faster please?" Pit pleaded. "I'm...I'm getting a handle on things now," Palutena replied as she guided Pit to the correct path. "OK, watch out for the columns around you. They'll reflect your fire!" she warned. Pit made sure he doesn't let that happen by not shooting at the enemies. After he got out of that, he was in space now. "O...K..." said Palutena, confused. "Ugh, this is hurting my head," Pit groaned. "I believe we're close to our target," said Palutena. "Then let's do this!" said Pit, determined to make it. Along the way, Pit continued to take down more enemies until he was closer to his destination. "We're nearing the landing spot," Palutena pointed out. "You're sure it's not another illusion, right?" Pit wondered, hoping it was not, as he slowly went down to it.

Pit landed safely on the platform. He began to look around, confused as there was no door. "Huh?!" he began. Suddenly, the camera flipped and Pit was upside down. "Yeeow!" he cried as he crashed face first on the real floor. "Ow!" he groaned. After that tumble, Pit proceeded onwards to find his target, while facing more Underworld monsters who were standing in his way. Just then, he heard a voice. "Quite the thrill seekers, aren't you?" it said. "Pandora, Goddess of Calamity!" Pit yelled as he recognized the voice. "We let ourselves in," said Palutena. "Hope you don't mind." "Oh please," replied Pandora, sarcastically. "Make yourselves at home. Doesn't bother me. But you should know that the whole 'Goddess of Calamity' was really the old me. The new me leads a more grounded life," she continued. "Yoga, macrobiotics, reflexology." "Don't you need feet for that?" asked Pit, unconcerned. "How dare you take that tone with me?!" Pandora asked, apparently taking offensive to that. "Especially since calamity is really more YOUR domain these days!" "Uh..." Palutena began. "It's really quite insulting," Pandora concluded, ending the conversation quickly. After Pit defeated the enemies, he continued forward. But then, he noticed something confusing. "There're so many doors..." he said. "And I'm sure there are just as many tricks," Palutena replied. "Uh, no doy," said Pandora. Pit then tried to enter one of the doors, but that was a trick. An error sound played and Pit was knocked backwards. "Ooof!" he grunted. "That's one of the oldest tricks in the book," said Palutena. "Grrrr!" Pit growled. He then entered the correct door and the room had a Merenguy to stop him. Luckily, Pit managed to take it down, along with a few Monoeyes, and continued to figure out which door was the correct door. Every time he noticed, which one of the doors were wrong, he quickly moved back to avoid getting hit. He then entered the correct one and then saw a disgusting looking Underworld enemy. "Gross!" he shouted in disgust. "It's a giant bug!" "It jumps out of the ground and emits a shock wave when it lands," Palutena explained. "And technically speaking, it's not a bug. It's an Underworld Girin." "Thanks for the science lesson," Pit replied, sarcastically. "Anything else I need to know?" "You need to dodge its shock waves," answered Palutena. "No, what I NEED is a giant bug zapper," replied Pit again. After he defeated that enemy, as well as a few others, he proceeded onwards. He then entered something strange. "Where are we?" he asked. "The Hall of Marvelous Moving Walls," Palutena answered. "Your delivery stinks," said Pandora. "Say it with feeling. This isn't public radio, you know." After that room, Pit entered the back of it with another moving wall. "Be careful with that moving wall," Palutena warned. "We've got a delicious Pit panini on the menu today," Pandora said, smugly. Pit then entered another room with moving walls, but the walls there were different. "Um..." he started. "So, what's up with the walls in HERE?" "Watch them carefully, and try to time your movements," warned Palutena. Pit did so and made sure to exit the place with no problems. He noticed that the room was a practice track which contained an Exo Tank. "Look!" said Palutena. "An Exo Tank!" Now that is one heavenly ride!" exclaimed Pit. "Technically, it's the vehicle of the gods," Palutena explained. "Why don't you take it for a spin?" Pit did so and entered the vehicle. "As you slide with the steering wheel, an arrow will appear on the monitor in the vehicle," Palutena continued. "The arrows shows you which way you're headed. Don't just take off. Look around you to face the direction you want to go... Then slide forward with the clutch pedal! This should ensure a nice, stable ride for you," she concluded. "OK, thanks for the explanation!" said Pit. "Just always be looking ahead and facing the direction you want to go," Palutena added. "If you want to get out, you can do that anytime you want." Pit managed to carefully maneuver his ride and took down enemies who were standing in his way. Then he decided to ask a question. "What's an Exo Tank doing here anyway?" he asked. "I wanted to get my driver's license," answered Pandora. "So I whipped up a little parking lot to practice in. But then it hit me. How am I supposed to steer without hands?" "How'd you build a parking lot without hands?" Pit questioned. "Hard work and determination," Pandora answered. "Once you're practice enough, go ahead and move on," explained Palutena. "You can get out of the Exo Tank whenever you want to." But after a while of practice, Pit decided to ask Palutena a question. "Refresh my memory," he started. "What am I doing here again?" "Pandora has the Mirror of Truth, making her Medusa's most valuable commander," said Palutena. "Uh, what's the Mirror of Truth?" Pit asked. "I'll bet smarty pants here knows the answer," said Pandora and indeed Palutena did. "The Mirror of Truth makes a copy of whatever stands before it," she explained. "So, hypothetically speaking, it could turn one ice-cream into too?" Pit wondered. "And that's why you're one of the great minds of our time," Pandora answered, sarcastically. "It copies what's in your heart and creates beings identical in nature," Palutena continued. "So what Pandora possesses is a way to create monsters on a catastrophic scale." "That's one way of looking at things," said Pandora. "Then it has the potential to make entire ARMIES for Medusa," said Pit. "We have to destroy it! But wait... Does the mirror copy the reflection's soul too? Or just the body?" "That's a good question," said Palutena. "Maybe Pandora will tell us." "Do I LOOK like a strategy guide?" she questioned. "In case you haven't noticed, this isn't the Ask Auntie Pandora hour." "She makes a good point, especially when she yells," said Pit, scared of Pandora's personality. Unfortunately, they do not know that there is someone inside the Mirror of Truth. Once Pit destroys it, chaos will reign supreme. After that, Pit got off the Exo Tank and proceeded forward. He then entered a room with rotating platforms. Along the way, Palutena noticed something. "Those orange platforms seem to spell something," she said. "Ooh, ooh!" Pit exclaimed. "Like a secret message? Can you decode it?" "It says...P-A-N...D-O-R-A..." she read. "It...doesn't seem like there's much to decode here." "Well, that was a letdown." said Pit, disappointed. "You're just jealous of my knack for interior design AND my flair for spelling," said Pandora. "Yes," replied Palutena. "I'll never have powers like yours." Pit then entered a room where it seemed to be almost endless. "Uh...what's this?!" he yelled in surprised. "The exit's moving away!" "Maybe you should stop running in place then," said Pandora. Pit didn't listen to her and proceeded onwards until he managed to reach the exit and continued forward. The room appeared to have green mats that were bouncy. "I guess it's bouncy time..." said Pit. "I thought trampolines would add a touch of whimsy to my humble abode," said Pandora. "But you can't even use them!" said Palutena. "So what?" Pandora replied. "I thought it would be fun to watch people bounce around on them. And I was right! ...Even though this is the first time someone's made it this far." "Well, there's another achievement to throw up next to 'Slaying Pandora!'" said Pit. "Don't make ME throw up," Pandora replied, sarcastically. Pit then continued onwards and found something very cool at a Level 8 Intensity Gate after unlocking and entering it. "Whoa!" he exclaimed. "Now this takes me back! Ah, memories..." It turned out that it was an 8-bit screen of when there were stores back in the original Kid Icarus like old times. He then continued forward and encountered another Merenguy. Luckily, he managed to take it down before it could become a severe problem. After that, he continued forward and entered a room which looks like a racetrack. "This must be some sort of Exo Tank racetrack," said Palutena. "You might as well try it out since you're here." Pit hopped in the Exo Tank and went forward and took down a lot of Underworld enemies. Then, after he raced around the track, he must move backwards and Palutena explained why. "A ramp has appeared next to the starting point," she said. "Take it up and move forward." "You know I appreciate your help, Lady Palutena," replied Pit. "But I'd be totally fine without all this hand holding too." "That's right," stated Pandora. "Hand-holding is strictly prohibited here. Not to be rude, but I have to project a certain aura of toughness." "We understand," said Palutena. "Rules of being a boss." After all of that, Pit proceeded into a room which appeared to lack floors. "Is this a dead end?" he asked. "Hmm," stated Pandora. "I guess you'd better turn back." "No, it's a trick," said Palutena. "There's an invisible path you can walk on." "Do you have to ruin EVERYthing?" asked Pandora, annoyed. "Honestly now." "Shoot downward in front of you to reveal the path," Palutena continued. "Ah, so there IS a path!" exclaimed the relieved angel. He shot down to indeed reveal a path to walk on. Along the way, he continued to take down different enemies, while also avoiding another Orne. Soon enough, he was close to Pandora now. "Pandora is just up ahead," Palutena pointed out. "It's time for you to destroy the Mirror of Truth." Pit drank another Drink of the Gods and proceed to where Pandora was, unaware of what is going to happen if he completes his task.

Pandora came out amused of Pit's arrival. "You made it," she said. "Yay." "Pandora! Pit yelled. Then he began to make different poses while chanting his words, "Underling of Medusa floating before me! It's time for you to atone for your crimes. I am Pit, servant of the Goddess of Light! And you. Are. History!" Palutena wasn't amused about all of that. "What was that all about?" she asked. (A/N: That little scene cracked me up. I was honestly surprised that nobody enjoyed that at all.) The figure, who was still hiding in the mirror, witnessed the scene. So he did make it after all, he thought. I sure hope he can get me out of here once he breaks this mirror. After that little dramatic entrance, the battle begun. "OK, whatever," said Pandora. "Do what you're gonna do." "What kind of attitude is that to have?" Pit questioned. "I can take anything but indifference!" "What's the point of getting worked up?" Pandora replied. "What's the point of anything, really?" "Quite an existentialist view for a ball of vapor," said Palutena, unconcerned. During the entire battle, the figure is impressed of Pit's fight. I never thought he would be so powerful the last time I saw him, he thought. He better be useful once I get out of this mirror. Palutena decided to help Pit out in the battle, since he was still struggling to take Pandora down. "It doesn't seem like you're doing much damage to Pandora," she explained. "Meleeing her bombs back at her will be more effective. Try that." Pit did so by knocking the bombs back to Pandora with melee attacks. Soon enough, Pandora was defeated. "OK, OK," she sighed in defeat. "I'll give you what you came for." However, she doesn't know the mistake they were all going to make now. She then teleported and moved aside to show Pit the mirror. "Here it is," she said. "The Mirror of Truth." Pit saw this and rushed to it. "Pit!" ordered Palutena. "You have to destroy that mirror!" Unfortunately, she also didn't know the consequences of what they were doing. The figure noticed this. Excellent, he thought. None of them don't know what's going to happen. This will be the biggest mistake of their lives. "Yaaaaaaah!" Pit shouted as he prepared to dropkick the mirror into pieces. Just then, he saw his reflection's wings glowed purple and eyes turn red. "Huh?!" Pit noticed as he kicked the mirror. Wait what? the trapped figure thought when he noticed that and then the mirror shattered to pieces upon contact with Pit's kick. During which, a dark clone of him burst from the other side of it. "What the—" Pit gasped as he saw the clone. The clone turned around to see his original counterpart. "Hey," he greeted. "Let's get right to introductions," Pandora introduced. "This here is Dark Pit. He'll be your escort out of this life." However, Dark Pit proved her wrong by smacking her in the face with a backhand punch. "No!" she cried as she flew backwards. "Speak for yourself," said the dark angel counterpart. Another battle initiated, but with Dark Pit aiding his original counterpart to fight against Pandora this time. "You fool!" she cried in disbelief. "You were created to serve ME! Your opponent's over there!" Dark Pit still decided to prove her wrong. "You're A boss, Pandora," he explained. "But you're not MY boss!" Pit was still in shock to comprehend this. "Wait, so was creating Dark Pit part of Pandora's plan all along?" he asked. "Having an angel CAN come in handy," Palutena answered. "And he's quite the little scrapper, isn't he? Use his scrappitude to your advantage and take down Pandora together." Pandora decided to explain what the mirror did. "The Mirror of Truth is just that," she ranted. "It reflects the truth. It seems that under that cute veneer of yours, Pit, you're actually quite ferocious." Pit doesn't want to believe her. "You don't know anything about me!" he countered. The two angels squared off against the Goddess of Calamity long enough until she was finally defeated. "And that's that!" Pit cheered, victorious. Dark Pit just scoffed. "Took you long enough," he said. Although, after the defeat of Pandora, Dark Pit decided to reward his original counterpart with a kick to the gut. "Ooogh!" Pit cried upon contact with the kick, flew backwards, and roughly landed on his stomach. "Pit!" cried Palutena in worry. "That's for ripping off my look," said Dark Pit. "I'M the original here!" Pit fought back. But even after that, Dark Pit rushed to Pandora's remains and absorbed her energy. "What are you doing?!" Palutena asked in shock. "Just making sure Pandora's powers don't go to waste!" replied Dark Pit as he rose up and flew away. "He can fly?!" Pit cried in disbelief. "If he has Pandora's powers, he could be allied with Medusa," said Palutena. "We need to follow him." She then opened up a light pillar and whisked Pit back.

However, after the mirror was destroyed earlier, something happened. The mirror shards suddenly glowed red and began to put themselves back together. This was due to the powers from the trapped figure. One by one, the pieces began to form the whole mirror again. But this time, the glass was much weaker. The trapped figure then began to punch the glass with his fists and with one mighty final punch, the mirror broke again, but with the figure free from his prison. He was now in his full appearance. He looked almost identical to the other angels. His wings crimson red, his toga dark red as blood, his pin red as lava, and his hair colored like a dark cherry. He then looked up and opened his eyes to reveal a red menacing aura of evil. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" he laughed as he took off and escaped the Underworld to cause trouble.
