Chapter 9: Medusa's Final Battle + DLC: Scattered Souls
Music Playing: Medusa's Final Battle
Pit rushed to the door and kicked the Three Sacred Treasures Case open to retrieve his weaponry. "Equipped!" he yelled as he putted on the Three Sacred Treasures and then went out the door into the sky to begin the battle of battles. Or as we all say, the final battle. "Are you ready for the final battle, Pit?" asked Palutena. "It's now or never!" Pit replied. "For this final battle, you're equipped with the Three Sacred Treasures," explained Palutena. "Using the Pegasus Wings and Power of Flight at the same time seems like overkill..." Pit responed. "Who knows how reliable the Pegasus Wings are after all this time?" Palutena wondered. "I've turned them off." "Understood!" Pit affirmed. During all of this, Pit noticed that there were a lot of Underworld monsters desperately trying to stop him from reaching Medusa while fighting them. "There sure are a lot of Underworld enemies around here," he said. "Yes, so even though the Arrows of Light do a lot of damage, don't get cocky," Palutena warned. Pit made sure not to use the Arrow of Light all willy-nilly, and decided to take his aim very carefully at his targets. "This ravine leads to the Underworld," explained Palutena. "I'm taking you in." She then sent Pit into the ravine, only for a hoard of Trailtails to come up and block his path. "Look at those Trailtails drawing lines," she noticed. "Or...trails, right?" asked Pit. "Maybe," replied Palutena. "Probably," said Pit. But then, there was also another group of annoying enemies inside different caves. "I don't advise shooting for a little bit," warned Palutena. "The Shootflies here will react to your fire." She then guided him down very carefully and Pit refrained from shooting. "There's a whole bunch of 'em!" he exclaimed quietly. "Just gotta keep quiet..." He was then almost at the end of their territory. "Fingers crossed..." he continued. After that, he got out of there. "I think we're out of Shootfly territory," said Palutena. "Good," Pit sighed in relief, after receiving four more Recovery Orbs to replenish his health. "'Cause I'm ready to start shootin' stuff!" He then continued to take down a lot more Underworld monsters. "The entrance to the Underworld should be up ahead," Palutena explained. "I hope the gem from Thanatos works," said Pit. Suddenly, Palutena noticed something. "Watch out for Ornes ahead," she warned. But, Pit wasted no effort and took one of them down with his Arrow of Light. "Did you see that?" he exclaimed. "They were no match for your arrows," replied Palutena. "The Three Sacred Treasures have still got it!" said Pit, proudly. Soon enough, Pit was getting closer and closer to the Underworld. He then noticed something glowing from his pocket. "Thanatos's gem is shining!" he exclaimed. "That means we're good to go," said Palutena "Get ready!" "Whoooooa!" Pit cried as he entered the portal. It was until then, he was in the territory where he began his journey and it was where Devil Pit was once taken to after he was captured and taken to the Labyrinth. "The Underworld," Palutena said. "We finally made it!" Pit exclaimed. He wasted no time and proceeded to take down more and more Underworld troops. "That's a whole lot of enemies," he said. "Well, we ARE on their home field," Palutena replied. "Home or away—I fight to win!" Pit exclaimed, triumphantly. "In your past adventures, the Underworld was where you died the most, right?" asked Palutena. "Oh, absolutely," Pit responded. "The difficulty level was just brutal. I'll brace for the worst!" Just then, Boogities appeared to block his way. "The metal backs on Boogities resist everything, even Arrows of Light," warned Palutena. "So be careful!" Suddenly, Dark Pit appeared out of nowhere and took down the Boogities with his original counterpart. "Waah!" Pit yelped after noticing his dark counterpart. "Pittoo!" "What did you just call me?" Pittoo questioned. "What are you doing here?!" Pit asked in shock. "The same thing you're doing," the dark angel responded. "Pummeling Underworld fools. I'm just way better at it." "Maybe you also sensed that Pit could use your help," wondered Palutena. "Don't make me laugh," scoffed Dark Pit. "Now, enough talky talk. There's fighting to be done! I'm out of here!" The dark angel flew away leaving Pit to deal with the rest of the enemies. "It was nice of you to show up, Pittoo," replied the light counterpart. "But I can handle this on my own!" "You're not on your own, Pit," said Palutena. "You have me." "Of course!" replied Pit "What would I do without you?!" After Pit defeated a lot of Underworld enemies, he is then face-to-face with Medusa's projection who appeared right in front of him. "So, you've made it this far," said Medusa. "You'd better watch your back!" exclaimed Pit. "Isn't that just...precious," the Goddess of Darkness responded. "Guess it's all that hot air that keeps you flying. You are darling. But you'll need more than bluster to defeat me!" "This isn't bluster!" Pit yelled in anger. "In the name of the Goddess of Light, I will defeat you!" But then Medusa disappeared and out came the Underworld Gatekeeper to block Pit's way from reaching his final enemy.
Music stops and switches to: Underworld Gatekeeper
"What is THAT?!" he yelled in disbelief. "That's the last line of defense keeping us out of the Underworld Castle," Palutena responded. "It won't be keeping ME out!" he exclaimed and tried to take it down. But no matter how many times he kept trying, his attacks aren't doing much damage. Even after destroying the weak points, the Gatekeeper was still not going down. "Why aren't my attacks doing more damage?" Pit cried. "Well, it IS a boss," said Palutena. "It's SO annoying!" Pit yelled in anger as he continued to try and take it down. Suddenly, Dark Pit appeared out of nowhere and dropkicked the Gatekeeper to somehow take it down quickly. "Hi-yah!" he yelled. "Pittoo!" Pit yelped, surprised. The Gatekeeper then exploded after knocking to the ground due to that massive kick. "And THAT'S how you take out a boss!" said the dark angel. "For future reference, face kicking isn't usually this effective," Palutena responded, unconcerned. "Get a move on before more defenses show up!" Dark Pit ordered. "Pittoo's right," Palutena agreed. "We should go, even if it means taking orders from HIM." "Thanks, Pittoo!" said Pit. "PLEASE stop calling me that," Pittoo responded, annoyed. "Pit, get ready to go in," said Palutena. She then guided Pit straight down to the Underworld Castle.
Music stops and switches to: Underworld Castle Entrance
Pit arrived into the castle and began to relax in the Hot Spring within the castle entrance. "We're finally here," said Palutena. Then Pit noticed something in the room. "Look at these boss statues," he said. "It seems that each statue has a corresponding door," Palutena responded. As soon as Pit got out of the Hot Spring, he proceeded to the first door to face Twinbellows.
Music stops and switches to: That First Town (Ch. 9)
Pit landed in That First Town as a memory fragment of some sort. "This looks like where I had my first battle," he said. "You've really come a long way since then, haven't you?" asked Palutena. Pit then proceeded to take down Underworld monsters who were standing in his way and continue onwards to reach his target. He also avoided a few of them that seemed way too powerful, like a Reaper, and entered an alleyway. Unfortunatly, something was waiting for him. "Uh..." he said as he turned around. "Watch out, Pit!" warned Palutena. "It's a Clubberskull!" "Yeah, I figured that part out," Pit responded. "Got any other ideas of what I should do next?" "You'll have to defeat it to advance," Palutena expliend. "Dodge to avoid getting hurt, and go in for melee attacks when you can!" "Aye aye, Lady Palutena!" affirmed Pit. He then took it down and proceeded onwards. He then continued to take down more enemies, one of them was also an Orne, and then moved onwards. He also used an Exo Tank to take down the enemies as well, until... "Another Clubberskull!" exclaimed Palutena, worried. "I'll handle this!" said Pit, determined. Althought the Clubberskull was tough, despite hurting its allies in the process, Pit managed to take it down with a little bit of harm. "All RIGHT!" he cheered. He then drank another Drink of the Gods and entered the coliseum to face one of his fallen foes.
Music stops and switches to: Boss Fight 1
He was then face-to-two-face once again with Twinbellows. "Twinbellows!" he shouted. "Here, boy! Old Pit's gonna teach you even MORE new tricks! And if you're good, I'll take you for a walk and give you a bath and a treat. We're going to rack up some serious Nintendogs trainer points together!" "Focus, Pit," sighed Palutena, unamused. The battle wasn't anything new, since Pit faced Twinbellows before. Despite the fact that Pit used the Three Sacred Treasures and grenades to fight him. Then, he took down the watchdog. "Good dog!" he yelled, triumphantly.
Music stops and switches back to: Underworld Castle Entrance
Turns out that after Pit defeated one of the fallen commanders again, he wounded up back at the castle entrance. "Oh," he said. "I'm back at the castle entrance." He then decided to take a rest in the Hot Spring for a while after that tough fight. "Look, a statue has crumbled," said Palutena. Pit looked at the Twinbellows statue and noticed that its statue is indeed crumbled. After a commander is defeated, its statue will break. After the relaxation in the Hot Spring, Pit decided to enter the next area to fight Hewdraw.
Music stops and switches to: That Burning Town (Ch. 9)
Pit then landed in That Burning Town which once again looked like a memory fragment. "Oh, this place again." he said. "This looks like where you fought the Hewdraw," explained Palutena. Pit then continued to take down more enemies and proceeded onwards. He then wondered about something. "So this whole town is some kind of illusion?" he asked. "It's as real as I am," Medusa responded. "I built it myself using your and the Hewdraw's memories." "That's because you don't know what the original town looked like," said Palutena, unconcerned. "No matter," scoffed Medusa. "You're in my domain now, and you'll play by MY rules!" "Yeah?" Pit countered. "Well, some rules are meant to be broken!" He then proceeded onwards after taking down more Underworld enemies. Then he found an Aether Ring. "There's an Aether Ring," said Palutena. "Why don't you try it out?" Pit hopped into the vehicle and found it really cool. "This Aether Ring is pretty convenient," he said amazed. "Yes," said Palutena. "Like the Exo Tank, it's a vehicle of the gods. The handling is a little soft, but it has a force field to protect you from enemies. Push the icon button to activate it." He did so to block certain attacks from the enemies and then took the all down with the vehicle. "Head into that well," said Palutena. Pit entered the well while using the Aether Ring. "You can use the Aether Ring to traverse gaps in your path," explained Palutena. "If you can make your way across all the gaps underground, you'll find a little prize." Pit managed to do so and found a Treasure Chest. He got out of the vehicle and opened it to obtain its goodies. After that, he continued to take down more Underworld enemies and proceeded onwards. He then used a Jump Pad to hop onto the next area. "Whoop!" he said. "The Hewdraw is behind that door," said Palutena. Pit then drank another Drink of the Gods and entered the gate to face his next foe.
Music stops and switches back to: Boss Fight 1
Pit then saw Hewdraw and prepared to fight him. "Hewdraw!" he exclaimed. "Your chances of winning are lower than your belly button! Which is really low!" "You're pretty pumped up, huh?" asked Palutena. "Of course I am!" replied Pit. "If we defeat Medusa, we save the world!" Once again, the battle wasn't new. It's still the same, except the fact that he used a Boom Spear only one time. Pit then managed to use the orbs to push Hewdraw out of water and then attacked him with melee attacks like crazy. Soon enough, Hewdraw was defeated. "Redefeated!" Pit yelled in victory.
Music stops and switches back to: Underworld Castle Entrance
Pit ended up back in the castle entrance again. "OK, next!" he said as soon as he got back into the Hot Spring to rest again. "Just one more to go before Medusa!" said Palutena. After the relaxation in the Hot Spring, Pit went into the next door to face his final foe.
Music stops and switches to: Into the Labyrinth (Ch. 9)
Pit wounded up back in the Labyrinth of Deceit. "Now this is one place I wish I could forget," he groaned. "The Labyrinth of Deceit," said Palutena. "Which means a second helping of crazy," Pit sighed. "Ugh." Pit then noticed spikes around him, but one of them was fake. "It'll take more than some fake spikes to stop me!" he yelled. He then proceeded to take down more Underworld enemies. Along the way, he entered a circle which teleported him somewhere to make him go upside down. "Whoa-oa!" he exclaimed. After he regained his senses, he got confused. "Uh...what just happened?" he asked. "I think you just used a warp of some sort," said Palutena. He then took down more enemies and used another teleporter to being him back upright. Along the way, he used another on to go upside done. "I'm all kinds of turned around," he said. "You seem to be passing between the floor and ceiling," explained Palutena. "How very strange." "You're telling me!" Pit exclaimed. He then took down more enemies, but was confused to do anything due to thinking that the fake spikes were real. "I'm a little lost here..." he said. "Hmmm..." Palutena thought for a moment before having and idea. "Oh, I know! Remember that old saying about spikes?" "Uh..." Pit started. "'Don't count your spikes before they hatch?'" "...No." Palutena replied. "The saying is "'If you can't go around them, go through them.'" "Easy for you to say," groaned Pit. "You don't bruise like I do." He then decided to go through the fake spikes and then finally realized that they were fake. "Hey, a secret area!" he exclaimed. "You're one step closer to getting out of this place," said Palutena. Pit then took down more enemies and flipped a switch to activate more teleporters that will bring him closer to his destination. But once he used the same teleporter from earlier, an Orne appeared. Luckily, Pit took it down thanks to the Arrow of Light. He then used to next teleporter to enter the next area. He proceeded to take down more Underworld enemies and entered another room. There, he ate more food and hopped on a Cherubot. He used it to take down a lot more Underworld monsters who stood in his way. After that, he drank another Drink of the Gods and entered through the door to face his final foe.
Music stops and switches back to: Boss Fight 1
Pit then saw his final foe and prepared for battle. "Pandora!" he exclaimed. "Ready for round two?!" "Seems Medusa couldn't make her talk," said Palutena. "What do you mean?" asked Pit. "I mean that's not Pandora," Palutena replied. "But it looks just like her!" Pit said, surprised. "That's just a soul dressed up to resemble Pandora," Palutena explained. "How clever of you, oh Goddess of Light," Medusa responded. "I can't believe you'd stoop to recycling souls..." Palutena scolded. "Is nothing sacred to you?" Although I still wished that you're the same person I once recognized many years ago before THAT war... she added in thought. That's because we had too many souls to deal with thanks to those demons... Medusa thought. "Well, you're in for quite a treat, Medusa," said Pit. "Now watch in amazement as I slay Pandora for the SECOND TIME!" Once again, Pandora's fight wasn't exactly new. Albeit, still tough to take down. But, nevertheless, Pit finally took down Pandora for the second time. "Slaying complete!" he yelled in victory.
Music stops and switches to: Underworld Castle
Pit returned back to the castle entrance and all three boss statues were crumbled. "Nicely done, Pit!" said Palutena. "You've destroyed all three statues." "Then it's time to destroy Medusa!" said Pit, determined to win the war. "The path to Medusa is back the way you first came in," Palutena explained. "How is that even possible?!" Pit wondered in shock. He then entered through the door to finally end Medusa once and for all. The angel then arrived past the door and encountered more enemies. One of them is a Collin and Phil. "Make your way to Medusa," said Palutena. "I'm on it!" affirmed Pit. "Meleeing the little enemies into the big enemy will make things easier for you," Palutena explained. Pit did so and took down those all of the enemies who stood in his way. Then, Shootflies and a Suit of Skuttler appeared next. "Just like in air battles, these Shootflies respond to shots being fired," Palutena warned. "Also, that statue-like enemy is a Suit of Skuttler and can only be hurt from behind. Get rid of the Shootflies first so you can take your time with the Suit of Skuttler." However, Pit seemed to be having trouble trying to take down the Suit of Skuttler, so Palutena decided to help him out. "You might want to try getting behind the enemy," she explained "Just keep your reticle on your target and dash left or right. Stay close to the enemy, and keep your eyes locked on." Luckily, Pit took all of them down without any harm thanks to the Spike Ball he used and Palutena's Guidance. Pit then proceeded onwards to another room and took down more enemies. Then Medusa thought about something. "I find it very ironic that you would call yourself the Goddess of Light," she said. "After all, it was you who turned me into a monster. It was you who hunted me down." "You shouldn't blame me for that," Palutena countered. "I only reflected in your appearance what I saw in your heart." And because of what happened to you all those years ago when you were taken, she added in thought. I missed the good days when we were happy as a family. Back when a new baby goddess was born. "And what about YOUR heart?" Medusa asked. "I can only imagine what resides there." "Why just imagine it?" Palutena replied. "Don't you have the power to make it a reality?" "There's no point." said Medusa "We all know it would be some sort of hideous creature." And probably an insane monster who would do anything to achieve their goal of mass murder like our escaped prisoner! she added in thought. "You shut your mouth, Medusa!" shouted Pit, furious. "Lady Palutena is nothing like you! Who turns people to stone and poisons the rivers? Who reduces cities to rubble? And who is leading the Underworld destruction of the land and heavens? Not Lady Palutena. YOU'RE the one responsible for all this, Medusa. But what I don't get is how you managed to resurrect yourself in the first place." That, however, doesn't seem familiar to Medusa at all. "...I suppose I don't really understand how that happened either," she said. "Don't play dumb with me!" Pit scolded. But Medusa was serious about that. "I...I don't remember what happened," she said again. "My memories aren't what they were." "You're slipping, Medusa," said Palutena. "Your mind isn't all there anymore. And I can sense that your life force is weaker than it used to be. Twinbellows, Hewdraw, Pandora, and Thanatos have all been defeated. But if you withdraw your army and promise to stay in this castle, I will spare you." "Don't be ridiculous," Medusa laughed. "Besides... It hardly matters HOW I returned. What matters is WHY. To exact revenge on you! Turning your little angel into stone is a nice first step." I knew there couldn't be a reason to spare you, Palutena thought sadly. It pains me to see you like this. "Oh well," she continued. "At least we can stop you from destroying other places. Just like the time you were responsible for burning an entire forest to the ground!" "Wait what?!" exclaimed Medusa. "I don't remember doing that!" Great, she thought. Thanks to what our prisoner did earlier, Palutena's thinking that we were the ones who did that. I sure hope he can be defeated soon. "Enough!" Pit shouted. "Threaten all you want. You don't scare me! I will put an end to you. I'll return to Skyworld victorious!" Devil Pit heard all of that. "Perfect," he said to himself. "Everything is all according to plan. Palutena thinks that Medusa and her army did this. They will soon learn the truth once the time has arrived." Back to Pit, who took down a lot more Underworld monsters along the way. He then continued along the rooms and continued to take down more tough enemies. Especially another Clubberskull. He then approached a Grind Rail. "I set up a grind rail, but I had to get creative," Palutena explained. "It's going to be a wild ride, so good luck." "Don't worry—I'm ready!" Pit replied, determined. Pit hopped on the Grind Rail and took down a lot more enemies along the way. He then hopped off of it and was now getting closer to Medusa. "I can sense you getting closer, Pit," said the Goddess of Darkness. "There's nowhere left for you to run!" said Pit. "Y'know, I'm very much looking forward to your arrival," Medusa continued. "I feel like Rapunzel waiting for her prince." "Sorry to break it to you, but those aren't exactly golden locks on your head," said Pit after hopping in another Grind Rail. "And you're not exactly a brave hero," replied Medusa. "Yet somehow the thought of our confrontation fills me with anticipation. So hurry to me, Pit. I'll strip you of your wings and sever you from the heavens forever." "I don't think so!" yelled the angel. Palutena sighed sadly to hear Medusa say things like that. If only the incident back when Skyworld and Angel Land were first invaded many years ago never happened, she thought to herself. Pit then continued onwards on more Grind Rails and took down a lot more enemies along the way. But then, he entered a room with only a single switch. "Where am I supposed to go?" the angel asked after eating the food. "There's a path somewhere," explained Palutena. "Step on the switch and use the lights to guide your way." Pit did so and the lights did indeed show a path to help Pit out to reach Medusa. He took down a lot more enemies and found another switch to activate more lights. "There are hidden platforms nearby that you can jump on," explained Palutena. "First, reveal the platforms, then dash up to a ledge to jump." "Well, that's easy!" said Pit. Which it was, because once he saw the green lights, he would jump over them and continue on his way by following the red lights. He then took down more enemies and was now faced against another type. "Huh?" he wondered. "What the heck is that?!" "It's a Tempura Wizard!" exclaimed Palutena. "A Tempura Whatzerd?" questioned the confused angel. "If he deep-fries you, keep your distance," Palutena warned "One bite, and you'll be finished!" "Well, that's a step up from eggplant, I guess," groaned Pit. "No...not really." Basically, the Tempura Wizard is a stronger Eggplant Wizard. Once he turned Pit into a tempura, it will come after him to chomp him up alive. Luckily, the angel took it down, drank another Drink from the Gods he received from it, and proceeded onwards. "We're getting close to Medusa," said Palutena. "Be careful not to fall." Pit took down the Monoeyes who stood in his way and revealed a path for him to continue. Then he defeated another group to reveal another path to continue. After he defeated the last group, he continued onwards and was now closer to reach Medusa. Then he encountered another Eggplant Wizard and Orne. "This appears to be the final guard," said Palutena. "The last step before Medusa's defeat!" exclaimed Pit. After he took both of them down, another enemy appeared. "There's an Erinus nearby," said Palutena. "They split into two halves that you can take out one at a time." When Pit attacked the Erinus, its body split into two. "Uh, it looks like the bottom half lost its pants..." he laughed slightly. After he defeated the Erinus, he proceeded up the stairs, drank another Drink of the Gods, and entered through the boss door to face and defeat Medusa once and for all.
Music stops and switches to: Boss Fight 2
Pit finally met his old enemy ever since 25 years once again. Medusa... and it is time for the final battle. "Ha ha ha ha ha ha," the Goddess of Darkness laughed. "So we finally meet again, Pit." "Sh-she's huge!" Pit exclaimed. "Be careful!" warned Palutena. Pit then looked at Medusa with determination and chanted while striking different poses, "Listen well, all you demons of the Underworld! In the name of the goddess Palutena, the defender of all that is good... Those who hide in the darkness will be made to face the light!" "Fly, Pit!" said Palutena as she activated the Power of Flight. Medusa tried to crush him, but she was too slow to catch him. The final battle has begun. Medusa began the battle by pushing Pit far away from her. "I'm going to try to get you closer!" said Palutena. "Thank you kindly!" Pit commented. "But...Medusa's using her powers to hold you back," Palutena continued, worried. "Argh!" Pit growled. "I know it's tough, but don't give up!" rooted Palutena. Pit tried to get closer to his final enemy by avoiding all of Medusa's powers, but he was still too far away. "You're still too far away," said Palutena. "She's so big that it's hard to get a feel for which shots will hit her," said Pit. Once he got close to Medusa, the goddess quickly teleported away from him. "Wow!" said the angel, surprised. "Warping that huge body must be a real pain!" "Who are you calling huge, you insignificant little thing?" questioned Medusa. "Let's get you closer," said Palutena. Medusa continued to teleport and spawn out her eyes to attack Pit and attempt to turn him into stone. Luckily, Pit avoided those eyes and continued to attack Medusa. Medusa then teleported quickly before launching a surprise attack at her enemy by slashing him with her claws. "Watch out!" warned Palutena. But it was too late and Pit took damage from that attack. "Yikes!" he yelped in pain. "Do you like that?" asked Medusa. After that massive surprise attack, as well as a few others, Pit gave Medusa enough damage to get closer as Palutena bound her legs with chains to prevent her from teleporting again. "Now's your chance!" she said. "The good news is that I've chained Medusa's legs in place for you. The bad news is that you'll have to get up close and personal with her." "You'll pay for that!" exclaimed Medusa, furious. Pit then continued to attack Medusa while she tried to find him off with other attacks. She soon took enough damage to reveal her monstrous face.
Music stops and switches back to: Boss Fight 1
"Uuuuuuuuuugh..." Medusa roared. "Her head!" Pit exclaimed in shock. "Now THIS is the Medusa I remember," said Palutena. Way back after that invasion and when you first her, she added in thought. "She's hideous!" Pit yelped after watching Medusa's head dethatch from her body and going after him. "I can't believe she's still fighting like this," said Palutena. "But this is a battle we cannot lose. You must overcome the darkness of the Underworld with light!" "The fight against evil ends here!" said Pit, determined to finally finish this once and for all. Pit avoided Medusa's attacks, from massive laser shots to skull shots like Thanatos did, and attack her with his weapons and special attacks. Medusa's head then went back to her body to fight Pit in her last stand. "Now, Pit!" ordered Palutena. "The eye!" "Raaaaaaaawr!" Pit roared in determination to finish this. "Now this is where we will see if you truly are worthy," said Devil Pit. "Finish her!" Pit shot a massive shot right into Medusa's eye and the Goddess of Darkness was finally defeat once and for all. "You did it!" said Palutena as Medusa groaned in defeat. Medusa reached out, but was instead frozen and her body withered into dust. After her defeat, her castle began to fall apart. Palutena quickly opened a light pillar to send Pit back home quickly.
Music stops and switches to: Fake Ending
The credits then began to roll as Pit and Palutena finally saw each other again after that tough and thrilling fight. "We did it!" exclaimed the angel. "We really did it!" "Congratulations!" said Palutena. "I know it wasn't always easy." "Aw, but it was so worth it!" replied the angel as he looked into the window of his room. "With the world at peace again, even the sun feels warmer." "Aw, you're so cute, Pit," said the Goddess of Light and the two of then laughed happily to finally see that everything is back to normal. But they weren't receiving the last laugh just yet as they heard a new and unfamiliar voice. Almost similar to Devil Pit. "Now wait just a second," he said. "Huh?" Pit wondered. "Did you hear something?" asked Palutena. Pit shook his head "no." But that was proven wrong when the voice repeated, "I said wait just a second." "I've got to be hearing things," said the angel. But his instincts were proven wrong when a giant hand emerged and ripped the credits apart! "Ha ha ha ha ha!" he laughed.
Music stops and switches to: Hades' Infernal Theme
The figure then revealed who he was. It was Hades, the true leader of the Underworld "Hades?!" exclaimed Palutena. "Who's Hades?" asked Pit, confused. "The true master of the Underworld," replied Palutena. "Sorry to keep YOU waiting," replied the Underworld ruler. "But now that I'm here, let's get this party started. Welcome to MY Underworld, Pitty Pat. You too, pretty Palutena." "I'm...honored you know who I am," said the Goddess of Light. Despite the fact that you were responsible for what you did many years ago before that war... she added in thought. "So this little angel took down big, bad Medusa all by himself," said Hades, impressed. "What an accomplishment! Goodness, you should put this on your resume!" "Uh, what's with this guy?" Pit asked, still trying to comprehend the appearance of Hades. "But before you do, you should know that I whipped up that Medusa especially for you," Hades revealed. Turned out that he was responsible for reviving Medusa. "Wait, how?!" exclaimed Palutena. "Add a pinch of memories to a ton of souls. Put them in a blender, and hit frappé!" "Explain yourself!" shouted Pit. "Her thirst for revenge was so great, it seemed a shame to let it go to waste," Hades replied. "Oh, pretty Palutena...you must have done a real number on her." "I won't deny that," said Palutena. Because we used to live in harmony back in our homeland before you invaded it, she added in thought. "But she's old news, and old news bores me," Hades continued. "We must look to the future, and that future is me, the true leader of the Underworld! Next to me, little miss Medusa's going to look like a sweet, cuddly bunny." "No!" Palutena cried. "This can't be happening!" "I must bid you adieu," Hades concluded as he bid them goodbye and disappeared.
Music stops and switches to: (M)TMB ARC Extended Music: Athenaeum Riba's Theme (A.K.A. Lucifer's Theme)
A few moments later, Lucifer arrived at the abandoned Underworld castle and found Medusa's soul floating in midair. "Perfect. My brother defeated the so-called 'Goddess of Darkness,'" he said. "Now all that is left is her soul. Time to take it away from Hades' army." He then took the soul into his hands and snapped his fingers to open up a portal. "Time to head back to the Void and place the soul in the ritual circle," he continued. "After that, I must explain my brother further about this." After that, he entered the portal to go straight to the Void.

Meanwhile, in Palutena's temple, Pit was sleeping in his room after that tough mission. "Hmm... Must...defeat...Hades..." he mumbled in his sleep, clearly having a nightmare fighting the Lord of the Underworld. Suddenly, he woke up by the sound of a portal opening up. "AH!" he gasped. After that, Lucifer came out of the portal. "Hello again, Icarus," he greeted. "Come with me into the Void. I have something to tell you." He then went back into the opened portal to go to the Void. "Geez! You startled me from my nightmare, Lucifer!" Pit exclaimed. "Well...time to see what you got for me." He then followed his brother to the Void. There, he saw his brother waiting for him. "Good. You have arrived," the Devil said. "Now then, I must tell you something very important." "What is it?" Pit asked. "We've just collected another soul of a powerful deity and it's your old enemy, Medusa," Lucifer explained. "We just need a few more souls and then we will become unstoppable. Also, since Hades has entered the fray, we're gonna need to finish this a lot quicker than before." "Well then what are we going to do about it now?" Pit asked. "Here's the plan. I heard that you're going to go on a mission, correct?" Lucifer replied. "Yeah...?" Pit answered. "That mission is going to be staged," Lucifer explained. "It involves something fake, but there is also a powerful creature you're going to face. Make sure you take down the creature and head back to the temple. Once you did your task, meet me back here and I'll show you something else. Understood?" "I get it, Lucifer," Pit replied. "But can you at least give me more information?" "That is for me to know and for you to figure it out during your mission," Lucifer replied. "Now go back to bed." "If you say so..." Pit reluctantly replied as he exited the Void from the portal Lucifer opened. "Perfect. It's all according to plan," said the Devil. "Soon, the new world WILL BE OURS! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Music stops
Back to the original roots where Hades has joined the fray. But as you can see, the brothers are still working together, except Pit is more reluctant at the moment, and their plan is going to involve something extremely dangerous.
