Sorry to keep all of you waiting, my fellow readers. But now that I'm back, let's continue with the story with chapter fourteen of the Evil Route. Heh. I'm just almost like Pit and Hades. Anyways, you already know the disclaimer, so sit back and enjoy!

Chapter 14: Lightning Battle + DLC: Murderous Strike

Music playing: Lightning Battle

Pit rushed to the door with the Raptor Claws equipped to begin the next mission. "Moving out!" he said until a laser beam shot at Pit and he dodged it. "Augh!" he yelped as he hopped out of the door and it was engulfed into flames as Pit was into the sky. "Is the door busted?" he asked his goddess. "The door is the least of our concerns," replied Palutena. "Hades has rejoined the fray." "Oh, no!" Pit cried. "Oh, yes," said Palutena. "Now we have both his AND Viridi's forces wreaking havoc!" But I have a feeling that something wrong might happen if HE shows up, she added in thought. I better be careful and hope Pit can do anything to stop him. As on queue, the War of Chaos was still going on between all three armies. "Okay, Icarus. I need you to be careful around here," said Lucifer, telepathically, without Palutena noticing. "There is a powerful foe you must defeat in order to steal her soul. I won't tell you who it is yet, but I have a feeling that you're about to find out for yourself soon enough." "Okay, Lucifer. I hope you're right about this," Pit replied as he continued onwards before Lucifer left the conversation. Pit then fought both armies at once, which was really a pain to deal with. "The Underworld Army and Forces of Nature are out for blood—each other's AND yours," Palutena explained. Then she started to tell Pit about which commander was leading either army. "On the Underworld side, Hades has put Thanatos back into play as commander," she continued. "Thanatos?! He's still alive?!" Pit asked in shock. "Apparently," Palutena replied. "And leading the Forces of Nature is Phosphora." "Phosphora?" Pit asked. As soon as he said her name, the Lightning Nymph herself appeared. "Yes? You called?" she said. "So you're commanding the Forces of Nature?" Pit questioned. Then he saw Thanatos looking like some type of glowing dragon of some sorts. "We're in the middle of something here!" he said. "Can this wait?" "So Thanatos was resurrected as...a glowworm?" Pit asked. "I think the look he's going for is more glow dragon," said Palutena. Suddenly, Pit heard Lucifer's voice again. "You saw that electric flying nymph, did you?" he asked. "Yes, Lucifer," Pit replied. "That's our next we need to eliminate immediately!" Lucifer continued. "But what about Thanatos?" Pit asked. "We'll deal with him another time," Lucifer responded. "But right now focus on the battle and wait for the opening to take down Phosphora." "R-Roger that," Pit reluctantly replied and flew onwards. He saw the whole battle go on and was surprised. "Wow, this is crazy!" he exclaimed. "It's the Underworld versus Nature, their commanders locked in fierce battle..." said Palutena. I can't believe this is happening just as Lucifer planned. Just like what happened all those years ago, she added in thought. Speaking of which, I can't seem to sense his presence anywhere. Where could he be? Palutena then flew Pit after both commanders. "I'm ready to pull you out of there if things get out of control," she continued. "I can't believe Thanatos is still alive," Pit said in disbelief. "And quite perky, from the looks of things," said Palutena. "Well, that's only fair," said Pit. "I've been finished off a few times myself." Palutena soon thought for a moment about Thanatos' resurrection. "Hmm..." she wondered. "Thanatos, Pandora, Hewdraw... Hades revived them all from the old days. It must have taken some work to bring them back." "But this is Thanatos's third time around!" said Pit. "Thanatos is a bit of a...special case," said Hades who just arrived to watch the scene. "You're telling me," replied Pit. "He is the God of Death, after all," Hades continued. "So he gets perks like evil powers and health insurance. And free soda." "Resurrected from the dead—that's some health insurance!" said Palutena. Thanatos and Phosphora were still going at it and nearly hit Pit. "Whoa!" he yelped. "It's all according to our plan, Icarus," said Lucifer, telepathically. "You just need to be careful during the whole battle, though. If you get yourself killed, this will be all for nothing and our plan will fail. Do not let me down, brother." "I gotta admit—he's fast!" Pit exclaimed, who was still watching the fight. "Must be all that free soda." "Lovely little Phosphora's no slouch in the fighting department, either," said Hades. "Ugh, will you stop trying to butter up all the ladies? It's gross," groaned Palutena in disgust. "There's nothing wrong with compliments," said Viridi, who came out to watch the fight, too. "Viridi! Where'd you come from?" Pit questioned. "But Commander Phosphora must also be respected for her power!" Viridi continued, who didn't answer the question. "Anyway, Pit, just keep after Phosphora and Thanatos," said Palutena. "It's great how they're wearing each other out like this. I mean, who knows? You may have to fight them both at the same time." "Well, we all know how THAT would end," Viridi scoffed. "Almost makes you take pity on Pitty," said Hades. "So, you see where I'm getting at, Icarus?" Lucifer asked, telepathically. "Nobody likes you except your one and only brother. Which is why we must eliminate all of our enemies before things get more uglier for our family name. Be careful during the War of Chaos." "G-Got it," Pit reluctantly replied. During the rest of the battle, Hades was starting to get worried about Thanatos. "Thannypoo, are you OK?" he asked. "Oh, yes! I'm just peachy!" said Thanatos, who looked a little scared of losing the battle. "He doesn't seem peachy..." said Palutena, unconvinced. "That's because Phosphora combines the depeachifying power and speed of lightning!" said Viridi. Suddenly, right when all three of them escaped that whirlwind, Phosphora quickly ended the battle by defeating Thanatos with a powerful electric kick. "Finishing blow!" she shouted. "Aaah! Farewell cryyyyyyy!" Thanatos cried as his glow dragon form disappeared and he returned to normal. This caused him to fall down to the sky below and then quickly escorted back to the Underworld by Hades. "Bravo! BraVO!" Viridi cheered. "Oh me oh my. Now whatever shall I do?" Hades gasped in worry. "Lucifer. What happened to Thanatos?" Pit asked his brother. "He's not dead yet, nor are the rest of the Underworld commanders," Lucifer explained, telepathically. "They're all back in the Underworld to recover from their previous encounters with you. We'll deal with them later. Right now I need you to eliminate Phosphora permanently." "If you say so," Pit affirmed, but before he was about to attack Phosphora, he noticed that she was already gone. "Where's Phosphora?" he asked his goddess. "She must be recharging after her battle with Thanatos," Palutena explained. "Now's your chance. Let's hit her before she fully recovers." "Good idea!" said Pit. "We may not have the best dental plan, but justice is on our side!" said Palutena. "Now it's OUR turn to bring the pain!" exclaimed Pit after receiving four more Recovery Orbs. While the angel was going through the clouds, Lucifer began to telepathically communicate with his brother again. "Listen, Icarus. Remember the plan you must follow," he said. "Eliminate Phosphora and then steal her soul for the ritual. I'll be over at your destination once you defeated her." "Got it. We'll see how well Phosphora can handle our power!" Pit affirmed as he continued onwards. "Shoot! They're going to attack Phosphora!" Viridi yelled before ordering her troops. "Children! Do not let that angel reach her!" Pit then approached to a whirling mass of clouds while fighting the Forces of Nature troops. "Phosphora's in the middle of those clouds," said Palutena. "Persistent, aren't we?!" exclaimed Phosphora. Pit then got closer and closer to where he needed to be, but he can't get through the clouds. "I'm going to open up a path through these storm clouds," Palutena warned. "Stay sharp!" She then opened up a path for Pit to go through within the storm. "This is intense!" Pit exclaimed. "Hold on as best you can," said Palutena. "Phosphora is definitely up this way." "Nope. There's nobody here," Phosphora hilariously lied. "We can totally hear you!" Pit exclaimed. I'll make sure that you stay dead so that me and my brother will avenge our family rights! he added in thought. Soon enough, he was near the exit of the tunnel. "Just about there," Palutena pointed. "Three... Two... One... You're out!" And he was, until he saw another temple. The Thunder Cloud Temple. "This is the Thunder Cloud Temple," Palutena explained. "It's been abandoned since ancient times." Since...that war... she added in thought. "Here already?" Phosphora complained. "I didn't even have a chance to take a shower!" "Too bad!" Pit shouted. I hope you're ready to face your demise! he added in thought. Suddenly, a blue beam of lighting came out of the temple and Pit avoided it quickly. "Wah!" he yelped. "I guess she's not completely spent after your battle with Thanatos," said Palutena. "It's just one fight after another. Today is not my day," Phosphora complained again. "The fortune Mistress Viridi read me didn't paint a very good picture either." "Wait... Viridi reads fortunes?" Pit wondered. "I wonder what other services she offers," Palutena said. "Anyway... It's on!" said Pit, determined to not only defeat Phosphora, but also recruit her. "Looking forward to it!" Phosphora replied. Plus, I can't wait to defeat you right here and now ever since you murdered Arlon ruthlessly! she added in thought. I will avenge him! "Sending you in!" Palutena pointed out as she guided Pit into the Thunder Cloud Temple.

Pit landed in the temple, ate the food, and proceeded onwards. "It looks like Phosphora is powering this place. You'll need to cut off the supply," said Palutena. "Some of the pillars and walls are electrified. Don't get zapped!" Pit managed to be careful and not touch anything electrical. He also took down more enemies that were in his way and then entered a lift that was also electrical around it. "Once I take Phosphora down, I'll be going after Viridi next," he said. "Don't think it'll be easy because of all the electricity around the premise, Pit," said Phosphora. "We'll see who's laughing when I shut the power down!" said Pit, determined. Once I'm done with that, I'll be right over there to exterminate you and then take your soul! he added in thought and then continued onwards and used a Jump Pad to go another floor where there was a giant diamond-shaped generator around the barrier. "I think that's a power supply to some of the areas in this temple," said Palutena. "Destroying it will probably make life easier for you." Pit took down more enemies and destroyed the first generator to continue onwards. "One generator destroyed!" he exclaimed. "That seemed to cut some of the power, so you can move forward now," said Palutena. "Whatever. It's no skin off my back," Phosphora sighed. Pit then continued onwards and took down more enemies. He also found some type of train car. "Is that a train car?" he asked. "There's something inside of it," said Palutena. "Break it open, and I'll move its contents near the exit for you to grab." "Sure, go right on ahead," said Phosphora. Pit did so and destroyed it and collected its goodies. But he was also confused and asked to Phosphora, "Aren't you going to put up a fight?" he asked. "What do I care? This isn't my place," Phosphora responded. Although there's something familiar about it and it's giving me bad memories, she added in thought. It reminded me of my family before...that incident... "So you're basically squatting in this abandoned temple," said Palutena. "Dignified." "Not squatting. Repurposing!" Phosphora replied. "Besides, I'll be out of here before too long." "Why's that?" Pit asked. "Because the free-spirited Phosphora isn't one to put down roots. Like a hobo," said Viridi. "Anyway, I've been busy with the Underworld Army, so I've asked her to defeat you." "I'd like to see her try!" said Pit, determined. Once a take her down, don't expect me to not come after you next, Viridi! he added in thought. "We'll see if you can underestimate my electric powers!" said Phosphora. Pit continued onwards and also took down another train and collected its goods, until he was ambushed by the Forces of Nature's troops again. Luckily, he took them out and proceeded to more forward. Then, he continued to take down more enemies and continued on his path to complete his mission. "Phosphora is busy recharging at the temple's center," Palutena pointed. "Got it," Pit affirmed. "You'll need to move fast and get to her before she's done," Palutena continued. "Consider that done, Lady Palutena!" Pit replied. "Is that so? Well, I believe you stand no chance against me and my power!" said Phosphora. "In fact, I'll be glad to get rid of you after what you did to us!" This made Palutena and Hades confused. "What is she even talking about, pretty Palutena?" asked the Underworld ruler. "I don't know, Hades. Even I'm confused about what's going on," Palutena responded. However, Viridi was the only one who understood what Phosphora was talking about. Are you sure you know who you're talking about, Phosphora? she wondered in thought. I'm not so sure if you're even telling the truth about it. Pit continued onwards and found a platform with an air vent and several spheres around it. "There seems to be an air vent in that platform. Turn on the air to help you up," Palutena instructed. "To get a current started, move the spheres to the correct place." Pit did so and knocked down the first sphere. "Good job. There's a weak breeze now," said Palutena. Then Pit knocked down the next sphere. "The air current is stronger. Use it to carry you up," said Palutena. But Pit decided to look around and sure enough, he found another sphere and knocked it down. "That's as strong as the air current is going to get. Hmmm..." Palutena wondered. Pit then used the air vent and hopped on the highest level. "Neat! I can go higher depending on the strength of the air current!" he exclaimed. "Well that's saying something from the angelic captain," said Phosphora. Pit then took down more enemies, even a Clobbler, and continued on his way. He then entered a room that has moving beams of electricity. "Pay attention to the movement of those electric currents," said Palutena. "Let's see if you can try to dodge them from the best of your abilities," said Phosphora. Pit made sure to be careful with those electric currents and took down more enemies. Once he did so, they were gone. He then continued onwards. He took down another generator to continue moving forward. "You can hop on in! I set up a Grind Rail for you to use," said Palutena. Pit then hopped onto the Grind Rail. "Let us proceed through the temple to complete our mission," he said. "So you're still persistent to get to me, aren't you?" said Phosphora. "Don't think the rest of your mission will be easy, though." Pit then hopped off the Grind Rail to a long hallway that's outside the temple. "This way goes to the center of the temple," said Palutena. "Watch out, though—the route looks pretty treacherous." Pit continued onwards an made sure to be careful when he continued on his way and took down more enemies so that he doesn't get taken down with harm. He then hopped on a Jump Pad and is now closer to Phosphora. "Phosphora is just ahead," said Palutena. Phosphora didn't say anything and remained silent. "Can't talk anymore, huh?" Pit questioned. "Well, I'll just make you then." But before Pit could face the said Lightning Nymph, he found another Zodiac Chamber that is blocked by an electric fence. He dashed through it avoid getting paralyzed. He then entered the chamber and collected the Libra Sponge power up. He then exited the Zodiac Chamber and dashed out of the electric fence again. He then drank another Drink of the Gods and proceeded though the door.

There, Pit found Phosphora who was waiting for him while levitating. But as the Lightning Nymph activated her powers to ready herself, she still remained silent. "Come on, Phosphora. Don't you want to talk about anything before we begin our battle?" said the angel. Phosphora still didn't say anything. "You're making this boring, Phosphora," Pit continued. "I know you're up for a fight against me." Phosphora still remained quiet until she finally spoke out, "Take off your laurel crown and then I'll talk." Pit did as he was told and removed his laurel crown from his head and tossed it aside. "Pit? Pit?! Oh no! Not again!" Palutena gasped. "Phosphora? What's going on in there? I can't reach you!" Viridi exclaimed. "Aw... Looks like I can't seem to notice what's going on in the temple..." Hades groaned. "Perfect. Now, nobody is going to know about our battle along with your secret," said Phosphora. "You are going to pay for ruthlessly murdering Arlon! I will avenge him by defeating the murderer who's working for someone move evil!" "Oh really? Well, you should know by now that your 'Mistress Viridi' is the daughter of the murderer who killed our parents," Pit countered. "Me and my brother are working together to avenge them by killing all of you and then steal all of your souls for the ritual. If you don't move out of the way, I won't hesitate to kill you." But then, he started to make a sinister smug smile. "After all, you'll be seeing your family very soon because they were already dead. Don't worry, I'll make your death slow and painful." This made Phosphora snap and she yelled out in anger, "HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT TO MY WHOLE FAMILY! YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT YOU MONSTER!" Suddenly, she began to change into her hidden form. Her body glowed blue and her eyes glowed yellow. "YOU DARE SAY HARSH WORDS TO MY FAMILY?!" she yelled. "THIS IS FOR MY BROTHER AND FATHER, ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE FORCES OF NATURE! PREPARE TO DIE, PIT, AND FACE THE WRATH OF MY STORM FORM!" "We'll see about that, Phosphora!" Pit yelled back as he readied himself to begin the fight.

Phosphora started the battle by launching lightning bolts from her palms straight towards Pit. But the angel swiftly dodged them. "You are not going to leave this place alive, you monster!" Phosphora yelled. "Innocent lives have been lost by your hands. I thought Hades was bad enough, but you are much worse! The matter of fact is that you're working with your evil brother! Don't you know who you're dealing with?!" "Shut up, Phosphora! Lucifer and I are doing what's best for our family rights!" Pit countered. "In fact, I'd half a mind to kill you right here and now!" "I'd like to see you try, Pit!" said Phosphora as the two of them continued to fight. "Don't get cocky with Phosphora's powers, Icarus," Lucifer warned. "She'll use them to her advantage in an attempt to paralyze you! Instead, try avoiding them in order to tire her out and then use this chance to counterattack." Pit did as he was told and avoided Phosphora's attacks with swift dodges. After that, he counterattacked with a melee combo while she was tired out. Unfortunately for the angel, Phosphora regained her senses. "You'll pay for that!" she yelled and decided to use nearby electric lamp posts to gain energy. "Phosphora is using those lamp posts to charge herself up," Lucifer explained. "She'll use them to release powerful shots from them in order to slow you down. Bring out the best of your abilities and stop her in any way you can!" "Understood! Phosphora is not getting out of this place alive!" Pit affirmed. "So, you really DO want to play dirty huh?" said Phosphora. "I guess I'll just have to try harder then!" Suddenly, she rose up and slammed her fists down with a mighty force. This caused a massive electric ring around herself to deal big damage, but Pit quickly avoided it. "So that's how you want to fight, is it?" the angel questioned. "I got something even better for you!" Phosphora responded and then focused her powers. A gigantic storm cloud appeared above the warriors and strong lightning bolts came crashing down all over random areas of the battle arena. "That mighty storm is raining down giant lightning bolts to deal damage," Lucifer explained. "Dodge them as fast as you can! But don't attack Phosphora yet, because while she's attacking you, she has an electric barrier surrounding herself. Once the attack dies down, let loose!" Pit did as he was told and avoided the giant lightning bolts that continued to crash down all over the arena. After a while, the storm faded away and Phosphora was lying down on the floor, stunned. "She's down for 10 seconds! Now's your chance!" Lucifer exclaimed. "Strike her down! NOW!" "You got it!" Pit affirmed and then proceeded to let loose a melee combo to finish the job. Phosphora was soon defeated. "Argh!" Phosphora groaned in defeat. "You're done for, Phosphora!" Pit yelled in victory.

Phosphora was on the ground, wounded after the battle. "U-Ugh... I c-can't... get up..." she groaned. She continued to struggle in an attempt to stand up, but to no avail. Just then, Pit came up to her with a sinister smile. But he wasn't alone as his brother, Lucifer, arrived next to the angel. "Excellent work in taking down that Lightning Nymph," he congratulated. "Now all you have to do is to kill her and then steal her soul for the ritual. In order for you to kill her you need to use my 'Special Weapon."" He then pulled out a very scary, bloody red sword. "This was used in her execution long ago," he continued. "It's called: the Sword of Death!" Phosphora gasped as she saw it. "P-Pit! D-Don't do this!" she pleaded. "That weapon is really deadly! Don't use it to kill me!" "Don't even listen to that dying girl, Icarus," said Lucifer. "The Sword of Death is required to kill her. We must do this for our family, remember?" "Of course, brother," Pit affirmed. "This is for our parents. Everybody deserves to die after what they did to us. So, prepare to meet your eternal doom, Phosphora!" He then raised the sword up above Phosphora in a menacing way. Suddenly, he lowered his weapon down on Phosphora's stomach with full force, causing it to bleed. "AAAGH!" she cried in pain. "Say hello to your family in your final demise, Phosphora!" Pit yelled as he continued to stab the Lightning Nymph multiple times. Lucifer smiled sinisterly to see his brother making great progress with his murder. His insanity is growing even greater! he thought. I'm glad to see him kill everyone who dares to stand in our way. Nobody is going to stop us. Not even the Underworld, Palutena's army, and especially those foolish Forces of Nature. While Pit continued to stab Pit, Phosphora began coughing out blood from her mouth. "P-Please... *cough* D-Don't do this to e-everyone... *cough*" she coughed. "S-Stop doing this... We just *cough* w-want everyone to be at p-peace... *cough*" Instead, Pit stared coldly at Phosphora and then gave her the final fatal stab, killing her. "Well done, Icarus. That's another obstacle out of our way," said Lucifer. "This universe will soon be nothing more than a pile of rubbish, and then we will destroy more of them after that." Just then, Phosphora's soul came out of her corpse as it faded away into dust. "Okay, Icarus, take the souls and come with me to the Void," Lucifer instructed as he opened a portal and entered it to go to the Void. Pit did as he was told and took the soul and then his laurel crown. He then entered the portal to follow his brother into the Void.

After they entered the Void, they head on over to the ritual circle. "Alright, Icarus. Place the soul in its place," Lucifer ordered. "After that, I have something important to tell you." "Yes, Lucifer," Pit affirmed as he placed Phosphora's soul in the ritual circle. "So, what is it you want to tell me?" "Listen. Even though we have gathered a lot of souls for the ritual, we still need to gather a few more who are missing," Lucifer explained. "My pet over here will be collecting more souls for us in order to become stronger." Just then, the Chaos Kin flew right next to his master. "Mind explaining why we need to do this?" Pit asked. "Also, how is this... 'thing'... going to help us out with our plan?" "The Chaos Kin is powerful to kill different mortals in the Overworld. After it's done is job, we'll have everything settled for our next step of the plan," Lucifer continued. "However, if we sent it out to do its mission right now, our enemies will get suspicious. So for that reason, I sent out the Aurum to attack the Overworld and absorb the Earth's life force, since they are my minions in my clan, the Dark Allies. To make sure our enemies won't get suspicious about you working with me, you need to pretend that those enemies came out of nowhere and you don't know them." "I understand, Lucifer," Pit affirmed. "Good. You and the Chaos Kin are free to go to where you need to be," said Lucifer and opened up two portals. The Chaos Kin flew into one of them to head out to the Overworld, while Pit entered the other one and was back in Palutena's temple. "Everything is going according to plan," Lucifer chuckled, sinisterly. "The universe will be destroyed and the new world will be ours! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Back in Palutena's temple, Pit walked up to his goddess and found her crying on the kitchen table. "Lady Palutena! What happened?" he asked in shock. "Pit! It's horrible!" Palutena sobbed. "Phosphora is gone! I can't sense her presence anymore! It's like...she's really DEAD! I know I tasked you to defeat Phosphora, but I would never think someone would kill her immediately! Who would do such a thing?!" Pit began to frown and sweat drop a bit while Palutena continued to cry in her palms. "I don't know, Lady Palutena," said the angel. "I'm not sure who would kill Phosphora. But one thing's for certain is that we need to get back to defeating the Underworld army." This made Palutena stop crying and look at her angel servant. "But...but what about Viridi?" she asked. "Aren't you going to try to stop her as well?" "Listen. I have a feeling that we need to defeat Hades and his minions first," Pit explained. "We'll deal with the Forces of Nature later." Palutena nodded a bit. "Okay. I trust you," she said. "You can go back to your room. I'll...be in mine in a while." "Okay, Lady Palutena," said Pit and then went to his room to rest. But after he closed his door, Palutena continued to cry. "What is happening?!" she yelled in sadness. "First Cragalanche, then Arlon, and now Phosphora?! Something is terribly wrong here! I really need to figure out what is going on!"

Meanwhile, Viridi was also crying in her temple. "No! I lost Phosphora! I lost all of my commanders!" she sobbed. "I'm the only one left with my children! I never felt pain like this in forever, ever since I lost my mother, Gaia!" She then stopped crying and raised her head in anger. "I won't give up, though," she continued. "I'm going to avenge my family and commanders by finding the murderer who did this to me! The Forces of Nature will rise up and strike down on our foes! You better prepare yourself, murderers, wherever you are! We're coming to find you and we're going to KILL YOU!"

Oh no! Viridi lost all of her commanders thanks to the brothers! She is now the only leader left of her army and will now do anything to avenge her family and commanders! But what will happen next? Well, let me tell you more after I tell you this message. I have good news and bad news. The good news is now that I'm back from my vacation, I'll continue to work on my story. The bad news is that my Winter Semester for my college has started, which means I have more time on schoolwork and less time on story writing, so... Yippee... Jokes aside, stay tuned for chapter fifteen of the Evil Route, review, and have a great day! Ah. It feels good to be back!
