Smells Like Teen Spirit

It was supposed to be my first day of senior year and here I was skipping it, I couldn't bring myself to see Tyler & Caroline again. I had a long talk with Davina last night and I felt a bit better about everything, not enough to face it head on but better.

I decided to go out and run errands, Rudy needed all the things you'd get for a dog so I ended up spending an embarrassing amount of time in Petsmart. I'd gotten Rudy everything he'd need plus a little hair cut, he was currently rocking blue paws.

I'd been ignoring my phone most of the morning Bonnie & Elena had been texting me but I didn't really want to talk to either of them. They were trying to get me to come to school.

"Where to next Rudy? We haven't been in Virginia in a while." I asked starting my car up, it felt like forever since I'd even driven. Everywhere we went either Klaus drove or he had a compelled driver.

Rudy barked in response which made me crack a smile, I'd officially become that pet owner and I was completely okay with it.

"Yes, let's get breakfast." I smiled, I'd driven to Richmond just to really make the point that I was not running into anybody today." Pancakes for me and steak for you."

I rolled my eyes as my phone rang for what felt like the 80th time, I didn't recognize the number so I knew I should definitely answer it. I plopped the to-go box with Rudy's steak on the ground by my leg and answered.

"Who's calling?"

"Rude." A heavily accented voice replied."I've been following you around for an hour now and thought I should make myself known."

"Rebekah?" I asked, looking around, I didn't see the blonde anywhere. I used my magic to feel around and still couldn't pick her out. "Where exactly are you?"

"Look to the right then slightly to the left." She replied, I followed her instructions and still didn't see a thing. She giggled amused before appearing in the seat in front of me. I hung up the phone as Rudy yelped in fear.

"Why are you here? I drove to Richmond to avoid everybody." I frowned, shoving a blueberry pancake into my mouth.

"I needed to do a bit of shopping and you are my shopping buddy." She shrugged, reaching onto my plate and plopping a blueberry into her mouth.

"Where's Klaus?" I asked letting my fork drop onto my plate, I didn't think she'd kill me out in public so I wasn't as on guard as I'd normally be.

"He left." She shrugged."Told me to stay with Stefan, he also dropped your stuff off at your house."

"Thanks." I forced a smile, if he'd returned my stuff then it meant I still owned a dagger which meant I could do what I needed to do to it then have to figure out how to get it back into Klaus' possession without him noticing it.

"I do think you should stop hiding and face your fears. So what your boyfriend left you for a less attractive, less interesting girl." She replied, I raised an eyebrow. I think she was more so talking about herself than she was about my situation.

"Fine, we'll shop, drop the dog off then go to school." I said eating a bit more of my pancakes before tossing some money down onto the table. I scooped up Rudy and frowned as Rebekah got up and followed me to my car.

"We should buy a whole store this time." Rebekah grinned, I rolled my eyes. It was only 10AM how many stores could possibly be open right now.

By 12 o'clock I actually felt better, we'd managed to do some shopping and retail therapy does indeed work, we'd dropped Rudy off at my house. Changed into super hot new outfits and headed to school, after Rebekah stopped into the boarding house to let them know she was staying there of course.

We were going to show up extremely late but I didn't care enough right now for it to even matter to me.

After I got my roster Rebekah took one glance at it before compelling the lady in the office to give her an identical schedule. I forced a smile as she showed me it happily, I think I'm being forced to be her bestie and I didn't consent to this.

"Cheer up." Rebekah smiled straightening out my outfit, this time she'd dressed me and despite being daggered for 80 years her sense of fashion was impeccable."He's going to regret his decision as soon as he sees you."

"Or I'll kill Caroline." I shrugged as the two of us strolled down the empty hall."Which ever happens first."

"I can get behind that." Rebekah replied, she looked down at her roster then up at the door and smiled."This looks like class room 208."

"Yup." I replied making sure to pop the P. Nothing about this school ever changed so I didn't need to stare intently at my roster as if I was gonna get lost looking for a class. The history class has been the same room my entire stint here.

We hear Alaric greeting the class and he says something about the country's original founders which makes Rebekah snort. It's actually kinda funny since she's technically one of the first founders.

"What about the Vikings?" She asked, the two of us took a seat in the front of the class away from my friends. They either stared shocked to see her or shocked to see me with her especially after I'd spent the day and night ignoring them.

"There's no evidence that Viking explorers actually settled in the United States. Who are you?" He looks at the blond confused, I'd forgotten he didn't get to meet Rebekah last night since he was asleep or doing whatever it is Alaric's do.

"My name is Rebekah. I'm new and history is my favorite subject." She beams, Elena, Caroline & Tyler are practically staring a whole into the blondes head and she couldn't care less right now.

As class went on I found myself staring at Tyler & Caroline. It was quite awkward really. She'd avoid eye contact but Tyler would openly stare back. I wondered since he was a Hybrid now, did he see the both of us differently? Is he more drawn to her now or me? Maybe this outfit Rebekah picked out did do the trick.

Class ended pretty quickly and thanks to the fact most of us had more than enough credits this was the last class of the day. Unfortunately since I was still co-captain I had to go to practice, an event that would force me to be around Caroline. And upon mentioning this to Rebekah she decided that she had to go and try out too.

I'd already changed into my outfit, I opted to wear the long sleeved top underneath to stand out from the others. The two of us strolled onto the football field, the football team was taking up most of it practicing while the girls were in a small portion of it.

"Where's Dana?"Brittney asked. I rolled my eyes, I couldn't stand Brittney Miller and the fact Caroline let her on the team while I was gone was very telling.

"Maybe we do have space for you Bekah." I grinned, Caroline was in the middle of stretching and stopped. She stared Rebekah down while the girl was stretching. I raised an eyebrow. Was she channeling unnecessary hate onto this girl because she knew I'd kick her ass?

"What are you doing?" Caroline asked, she completely ignored my presence. Rebekah doesn't respond and just keeps stretching which annoys Caroline even more." Hey, hey you can't just come here and infiltrate our lives." Caroline had the audacity to look at me as if I was going to back her up.

"We've got an empty spot, it's Rebekah's." I shrugged, putting myself between the two. It feels completely foreign for Caroline to be on the receiving end of this.

"Besides, I'm only interested in yours. Your spot, your popularity." Rebekah teased, she'd stepped around me to get into Caroline's face."Maybe even your boyfriend, although I have more respect for Alicia than to do that."

Caroline is completely seething right now and I'm enjoying it much more than I thought I ever would.

"It's not ballet ladies. Let's move! Let's move!" I shouted getting the other girls back focused on whatever stupid routines Caroline came up with over the summer.

It was rather bland and wouldn't win us anything in a contest but it was good enough for a football game I guess.

I noticed Caroline walk off and go talk to Tyler, when she left I let the girls take a break which Rebekah decided to use as a moment to show off. And show off did she, she moved better than half our team including me.

Caroline was literally seething as the girls cheered Rebekah on.

After practice I'd grabbed my stuff and went the hell home, I had enough time between now and the bonfire to change and mess around with the dagger without anybody else around.

I scooped a few candles from the kitchen and went straight in my room after letting Rudy out into the backyard. I locked my bedroom door and set the candles out, I uncloaked the dagger and placed it on the floor in front of me.

I stared at it for a while, I had absolutely no idea what to do and where to start. I noticed I hadn't seen any of my grimores when I got back to Gramm's either. I used the dagger to cut my hand, I let the blood coat the blade before quickly wrapping my hand up. I've got candles, and Bennett blood that should be a decent foundation for something.

Fuck.

I was frustrated I had zero idea where to go from here, I had no idea how to create another dimension. It's doable for sure, my ancestor had done it which meant I could do it too. I just needed the spell.

I whipped out my phone and called Sabine, I hadn't spoken to her since I left New Orleans and I had zero intention of talking to her until I came back but the amount of power she possessed told me she'd know what I needed.

"Alicia, I thought you forgot about me." Sabine purred, I scoffed but coughed to cover it up quickly.

"Forget the woman who brought me into the coven? Never." I replied my tone was just as fake as hers was."I need your help."

"What can I do for you?" She asked, I was surprised she gave in so quickly. I felt like she would've beat around the bush and never did it.

"You wouldn't happen to know how to create another dimension? Like a dream world where I can send multiple people and come and go as I please?"

"What the hell are you about to do?"Sabine asked, I wasn't sure if she sounded impressed or alarmed; she wasn't the easiest to read.

"Something beneficial in the long run." I replied vaguely. I knew I needed to keep this completely to myself if Klaus caught wind of what I was doing he would kill me.

"I think I have exactly what you need." Sabine answered after a long pause, I fist pumped excitedly for a second before a sense of dread washed over me."I need you to do something for us in return."

"Deal, what is it?"

"You're going to have to come back a bit earlier than you intended, I want you to be a part of the harvest." She replied, I scrunched my face up, it sounded familiar but I wasn't really versed in it.

"No problem." I shrugged, I could read up on the harvest later the sooner I got this damn Dagger finished the sooner I could get it out of my possession.

"Great, what you'll need is."

After Sabine sweetly walked me through everything, I put the dagger into a random gift box I had laying around. The smartest thing I could do is give it back to Rebekah, Klaus would end up using it on her sooner rather than later. I changed into another Rebekah approved outfit and let Rudy back into the house before heading to the bonfire. The minute I arrived Rebekah found me her entire face lit up.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, I was rather lonely." She replied holding out her cup to me. I took it and took a big sip of it before passing it back.

"It's a party, mingle." I said scanning who was there. I saw Elena with Stefan but everybody else was a no show which was already weird.

"Why mingle when my best friend is here." She smiled, I couldn't quite tell if Rebekah was being sarcastic or if she was being genuine because she should hate me for lying and snapping her neck.

"Okay, what do you want to do?" I asked, she grabbed two sticks from the ground and held out a random bag of marshmallows to me, I scrunched up my face but took a stick and a marshmallow and we got to roasting."You do know that is disgusting."

"It's what you normal teenagers do."

"Nah, not I." I hissed." I don't know how many fingers have been in this bag, plus you just picked these sticks up from the ground. This is disgusting."

"You don't have to eat it." She shrugged, once she finished toasting the one on the stick she completely tossed it opting to eat one from the bag instead. It was a better compromise so I did the same. Rebekah in a way reminded me of Caroline, and it made me even sadder that I wasn't on speaking terms with her right now.

"What, no friends your own age?" Rebekah asked, I snapped out of my thoughts and noticed Damon sitting beside her. I raised an eyebrow at how weird that was but shook it off.

"Like you can talk." Damon replied back, I wiggled my fingers at him to show I'm definitely here.

"Is this supposed to be fun? I've been through 10 of these and even roasted one." She asked, I snorted, Rebekah was having as bad of a time as I was nice.

I noticed exactly where this was about to go and got up and walked off, I had zero desire to third wheel I'd just give Rebekah the dagger tomorrow.

My phone rings in my pocket and I scoff pulling it out, I see that it's Bonnie so I answer of course.

"Are you near Elena?"

"Uh?" I looked up, her and Stefan were gone. I gritted my teeth and snatched a beer from a random boy."Not anymore but I can be."

"Vicki's trying to kill her." She explained, I downed the beer and used my magic to feel around for Elena or Stefan if he had to protect her then he was most likely with her. I feel Rebekah and Damon and something very faint as if they were leaving.

"I think I got her, I'm gonna follow my magic. I'll call you if anything."

"Okay."

We both hang up, and I start walking. It doesn't take long before I arrive back at the football field. I see what looks like Stefan on the ground and Elena and Alaric standing over him? Weird.

"Hey!" I called out, but neither of them reacted. Alaric put Stefan into his trunk and Elena started to climb into her car. My heart nearly fell out my ass when I noticed a random fire break out. It slowly went from the grass up to Elena's car before it quickly caught fire. "Bloody hell."

I broke into a sprint closing the distance between Elena and I pretty quickly. She kicked at the windows while Ric tried to break them from the outside and nothing happened.

"That's definitely not your average fire." I closed my eyes and focused my magic on trying to put the flames out. I still heard screaming , I still smelled fire. Jesus Vicki really wanted her dead for whatever reason.

I sighed in relief when Stefan kicked the trunk out, it shot and almost hit me but he still managed to find a way out. I focused my magic again on putting out the fire this time it worked. Whatever magic Vicki had been using Bonnie must have severed the connection.

"Hurry up." Alaric rushed, Elena grabbed Stefan and with Alaric's help the two of them climbed out the car. Elena collapses on the grass probably in shock she almost got barbecued to death randomly.

"You guys okay?" I asked awkwardly, Elena looked up at me and nodded. I held my hand out and helped her up off the grass.

"Thanks for the assist." She forced a small smile, I noticed she had a cut across her cheek and frowned. It seemed like no matter what happened Elena would always be in some sort of danger.

"Do you need help getting home?" I asked staring at the charred car. I put the flames out but it still was badly damaged from the fire, if I put it out a second later it probably would've blown.

"We're fine." Alaric said, I narrowed my eyes but nodded anyway.

"Why do I feel like I'm the one you don't trust?" I asked crossing my arms, I noticed Stefan was definitely not right so someone had to have vervained him."Did you steal my vervain?"

"Tyler couldn't get any from his mom." Elena replied innocently."And Bonnie did mention you had a ridiculous amount from when you went to New Orleans."

"I drink it!" I scoffed, annoyed, I would've happily shared had they asked."My friend talked me into buying all that."

"I'll get some from Mrs. Lockwood to replace it." Elena replied. I noticed she was careful to avoid my first question. Anybody with eyes could see I was pissed off with the Caroline & Tyler situation that nobody cared to mention to me but Matt.

"Can we just address the elephant in the room?" I asked cutting straight to it, there was no need to talk about my feelings more than necessary.

"That you're friends with Rebekah?" Alaric asked, finally speaking up. Ya know right now I think no humanity Stefan would be my best friend had he not been drugged.

"Rebekah isn't the one who snaked me while I was gone." I hissed, Elena looked down at her feet guiltily."I saw you in Chicago and you didn't even think to mention Caroline & Tyler?"

"I didn't think you needed to know that." Elena replied, looking up from the ground. I saw red for a second but I caught myself. I was thankful for Matt more than the rest of my friends right now.

"Matt called me and told me." I replied, trying to stay leveled. I'd lost control back at the school and the last thing I needed was to accidentally really make the school explode.

"Matt?" Elena asked surprised, hmm maybe nobody knew Matt was the one who tipped me off. Whoops.

"Yes, he thought it was something I should know. I can give Bonnie a pass because they probably hid it from her too. But I know for a fact you had a front row seat to everything and said nothing."

"Alicia it's not like that." Elena argued, I rolled my eyes done with the conversation.

"No, Caroline just gets to fuck all our exes. Huh?" I scoffed walking off."Fuck all of you."

"Alicia!" Elena called out but I ignored her and kept walking. I'm going back to my car to give Rebekah the goddamn dagger then I'm going back home to my dog and to call my only real friends.

I didn't see Rebekah when I got back to the Bonfire so I opted to grab a soda then leave. I was driving back home when I felt a sudden weight on my foot, making me pick up speed rapidly before I could even react. The wheel jerked hard to the left.

"What the fuck!" I screamed as the car collided right into a tree.
