Chapter 19: The Lightning Chariot + DLC: The Last of the Family
Music playing: The Lightning Chariot
Pit rushed to the door with the Meteor Bow equipped. "I'm ready to roll!" he said as he jumped through the door. "Then let's get to rescuing Palutena!" said Viridi as she flew Pit across the sky. Suddenly, Underworld enemies appeared to slow him down. "Underworld troops on the scene!" Pit exclaimed. He also saw the Forces of Nature allies to take the enemies down. "I'll send in some backup," said Viridi. "If they get in your way, I'll pull them out." Pit, however, remained silent even though she was helping him. "Hey! At least a 'thank you' would suffice," said Viridi, offended by the silent treatment. You'll know what will happen to you soon enough, Viridi, Pit thought to himself. He then proceeded to take down more Underworld enemies with the help of the Forces of Nature. "The force field around Palutena's temple is incredibly strong," Viridi continued. "We're going to need to borrow the Lightning Chariot." "That sounds AWESOME!" Pit exclaimed. "It's a superfast battle carriage that travels the galaxy," Viridi explained. "It's also pulled by unicorns!" "And that's what I'm gonna use to break through the force field?" Pit asked. "Exactly," Viridi responded. "So basically, you're telling me to slam a horse cart into a brick wall," Pit wondered. "Sure, if you want to put it crudely," Viridi giggled. "Which means I might die," Pit continued. "Well, anything's possible," Viridi giggled again. "Does the Lightning Chariot at least have air bags?" Pit asked, worried. "Last I checked, no," the Goddess of Nature responded. "Uh, I'm not a safety nut, but even I draw the line somewhere!" Pit cried. "So you don't really care about saving Palutena after all," said Viridi. "Grrrr..." Pit growled. "She could be in agony at this very moment," Viridi continued. "She could be trapped inside a dungeon of madness. She could be crying out, 'Oh, help me, Pit! Oh, please!'" "OK OK OK OK OK!" Pit exclaimed, stopping Viridi's ranting. "I guess it IS my duty to rescue her." "Yeah, I know! That was my point!" Viridi responded. "There is a reason why Viridi is going to be our last target, Icarus," said Lucifer, who was talking to his brother telepathically. "Because she doesn't know what will become of her once she notice what we will do to her soon enough. Not to mention, she's just using you for her own selfish desires. Keep pretending to be her ally. I'll handle the rest of the dirty work myself." Pit continued to take down more and more Underworld enemies. Then he realized that he was flying low to the ground. "Aren't I a little low to be flagging down the a galactic chariot?" he asked Viridi. "It's not like those chicken wings of yours are really helping any," Viridi responded. "Yeah, yeah," Pit groaned. "Don't worry. I've got a great plan," said Viridi. "This oughta be good," Pit wondered. "Have you ever been to the circus, Pit?" Viridi began. "My favorite act is the human cannonball. It's just such a...thrill ride!" "Where are you going with this?" Pit worriedly asked after receiving four more Recovery Orbs to replenish his health. "We're going to do our own version...but with an angel instead!" said Viridi. Pit immediately started to panic. "No way, uh-uh, absolutely NOT!" he yelled. "Ugh, you're so boring!" Viridi groaned. "Where's your sense of adventure?" She then flew Pit into the Angel Cannon as it slowly rose upwards. "Three! Two! One! FIRE!" Viridi counted down and the cannon blasted Pit to the higher sky. "Waaaaaaaaoh!" he cried. Soon enough, Pit arrived into space and came to a stop. "I could've been blown to smithereens!" he whined. "But you weren't! Look on the bright side!" Viridi replied. Along the way, Pit saw something around the entire area. "So, what's all this?" he asked. "These are patterns formed by galactic particles," Viridi answered. "Beautiful, aren't they?" Pit didn't respond to the question and just remained silent. "I told you Viridi is being selfish and doesn't care about you in any way, Icarus," said Lucifer. "But don't get too cocky and confront her right away. Remember our mission first, then we'll deal with her later." Pit then continued onwards through space and took down more Underworld enemies. Viridi realized that there were too many of them. "The Underworld presence is very strong. Hmm," she said. "Do you think they're after the Lightning Chariot too?" Pit asked. But then Viridi noticed something coming really fast. "Huh?" she said before realizing what it was. "Here it comes behind you, Pit!" As on queue, the Lightning Chariot zipped right past Pit really fast. "Ah!" he yelped. "It is CRUISIN'!" "The chariot's headed for its home base," said Viridi. "Stay on it!" Pit flew right into a portal that leads to the Lightning Chariot's home base. But as he took down more enemies along the way, he heard a familiar voice saying, "Well, hello again, friends!" It was Hades. "Hades!" Pit said. "Ugh, not you again," Viridi groaned. "Just look at the two of you sneaking around behind Palutena's back," Hades chuckled, smugly. "It's classic." "Shut your mouth!" Pit yelled. "What do you want, Hades?" Viridi asked, annoyed. "The Lightning Chariot, obviously!" Hades answered. "You creep! Just go away already!" Viridi yelled. "It's one slick ride. A veritable goddess magnet, if you will," Hades continued. "Please. I'm a goddess, and I would never ride in that thing," said Viridi. "But Pitty here sure likes it!" said Hades. "Are you only here to get in our way?!" Pit yelled. "My intentions are always honorable. You know that." Hades responded. "Whatever you're REALLY up to, we're going to find out!" said Pit, determined to complete his mission. As he took down more and more Underworld monsters, he soon got out of the portal. Only for him to nearly got hit by a lightning strike. "Ugh! Whoa!" he yelped. "It gives me such pleasure to see you suffer, Pitty Pat," said Hades, smugly. "Just ignore him, Pit," said Viridi. "The Lightning Chariot is up ahead." "We've got to get to it before the Underworld does!" said Pit. Then he saw a large tower coming up close. "Both the Lightning Chariot and its master are in that tower," Viridi explained. "I'll drop you off on the ground floor." "OK. I'll make my way up from there," said Pit. "Just so you know, the tower's really, really tall," Viridi pointed out. "Get ready to feel the burn!" "No worries there," said Pit. "I'll just get up there and obtain the Lightning Chariot as soon as possible!" Then Viridi moved Pit closer to the tower. "Ready for land battle, Pit?" the goddess asked the angel. "Affirmative!" Pit replied as he entered the tower.

Pit soon entered the base. "So the Lightning Chariot is in this tower, huh?" he wondered after eating the food. Then he heard a new voice. "Who dares trespass on my domain?" he said. "Leave before you get hurt!" "Who said that?" Pit wondered in shock. "I've had many names in my life, but now I am called the Chariot Master," the person revealed himself. "Oh, great! You're the guy I'm looking for," said Pit. "Listen, I have a favor to ask you. Would you mind if I borrow your chariot for just a little while?" "Your foolishness is matched only by your rudeness," replied the Chariot Master. "How dare you charge in here, flinging unreasonable requests at me? I've half a mind to turn you into galactic roadkill!" "You can't really blame him for being upset," Viridi agreed. "That was kind of rude." "Eh. Big deal," Pit shrugged. "I can just walk up to the tower and then speak to him in person." And I suppose this might be the "presence" Lucifer was telling me about, he added in thought. I hope he doesn't know about what I'm doing or else things will get ugly. "Hmph. Never knew you can act really tough there, Pit," Viridi scoffed. "I thought you don't know what to do for a few seconds before ask either me or Palutena." "Hey. I sometimes have my own ideas, you know," Pit replied in annoyance. He then continued on his way and took down more Underworld enemies. "So...is there an elevator in this tower?" he asked. "Oh, would Prince Pit like me to scatter rose petals in his path too?" Viridi responded. "Listen, this is the only way up, so you'd better get a move on." "Ugh. Whatever..." Pit sighed and continued onwards. He took down more Underworld enemies that were in his way to move forward. He then entered a room where there's a moving platform. "You'll need to ride that platform to move forward," Viridi explained. Pit did as he was told, but he also asked Viridi a question. "You know what's weird, Viridi?" he wondered. "What?" Viridi asked. "There sure are a lot of Underworld troops here," Pit responded. "This tower does seem to be lacking proper defenses," said Viridi. "Any riffraff can just waltz on in," said Hades, who just came in. After all, little Pitty here had no problems. But I must admit that I ADORE running amok in other people's homes." The Chariot Master soon heard his voice. "Another uninvited guest? Very well. At least show your face," he said. "So my Lightning Chariot can erase you from existence!" During all of this, Pit found a switch that activated mines to destroy all of the enemies at once. "Many birds, one boom!" he exclaimed. He continued onwards through the tower while taking down more Underworld enemies. He then entered a room where there is a where the floor panels alternated their electric currents. "Those floor panels alternate between hurting you and not hurting you," said Viridi, but she also found something confusing. "They don't seem to have any effect on those Underworld enemies, though," she continued. "Odd." "That's a known issue. It'll be resolved in the next version of the tower," said the Chariot Master. "Someone needs a better QA department," said Pit. "And possibly better defenses in my opinion." After taking down the enemies in that room, Pit continued onwards around the tower. He then entered a room with giant pillars. "The Underworld has taken position up on top of the pillars," said Viridi. "Well, what goes up... Must come down!" said Pit. Pit took down the pillars and the enemies that were on them. After taking them out, he continued onwards around yet another long walkway. "Jump Pads will help you over any gaps in the walkway," said Viridi. "Man, climbing this tower is really a pain," Pit groaned. "Aw, someone sounds like he wants a piggyback ride!" said Hades. "Now is not the time to say that, Hades," Pit scoffed. "Can't you see I'm busy with something?" "Now this is a side of Pitty Pat I have never heard before," Hades wondered. That's odd. I never seen Pit act so tough before, Viridi thought to herself. Something seems a bit off about him... Pit then entered a room where he noticed something very unusual. "OK, so we've got rolling obstacles," he said. "And don't forget the Jump Pads," Viridi pointed out. But then Pit noticed something about it. "Something seems familiar about this..." he wondered. "I guess the Chariot Master has played Donkey Kong," said Hades. "Don't listen to his stupid fourth wall breaking, Icarus," Lucifer warned. "Focus on the task at hand." Pit nodded and and continued onwards. After getting through that... "referenced room..." Pit continued onwards around the tower. He then entered a room that has slippery ice and an Aether Ring. "Whoa!" he gasped upon almost slipping around. "It's solid ice!" "Using an Aether Ring should keep you from slipping around," said Viridi. "Why does the Chariot Master have a vehicle of the gods?" Pit wondered after hopping in the vehicle. "Isn't it obvious?" said the Chariot Master. "Are you saying you're a god?" Viridi asked. "I'm not saying anything," the Chariot Master responded. "Aurgh! Then why even bring it up?" Viridi groaned. Because I cannot tell you about my secrets, the Chariot Master thought to himself. I heard about what that angel did to my sister. I will avenge her by slaying the monster once he makes it all the way up here. After taking down the enemies, Pit hopped out of the Aether Ring and continued onwards. "This is starting to tire me," he groaned. "Well just keep on going upwards till you make it, Pit," said Viridi. Pit then entered a room with land mines. "Be careful you don't step on any land mines," Viridi warned. "I'll do my best," said Pit. "Mines certainly are useless on floating Underworld monsters," Viridi pointed out. "Yes, yes, I'm quite aware of that," sighed the Chariot Master. "Defense really isn't your strong suit, is it?" said Hades. "Eh, whatever. Defenses are for the weak and insecure." Pit then continued onwards after taking down the Underworld monsters from that room. He exited, found a Grind Rail, and hopped onto it. "Hey there, Grind Rail!" he said. "Time to give these barking dogs a rest!" After hopping off, Pit entered another room witch contains a wrecking ball and Reapettes. "Hey, there's an oversized bowling ball. And some ugly bowling pins!" said Viridi. "My troops are a worthy sacrifice for the sport of kings," said Hades. Pit pushed the wrecking ball onto the Reapettes and knocked them all down. "STRIKE!" Viridi yelled out but Pit only remained silent. "Guess Pitty Pat isn't amused to how well he did," Hades teased. "Let's just move on already," said Pit. Something is clearly wrong with Pit, Viridi thought to herself. I better ask him what's wrong when he gets back. After that little "game," Pit continued onwards. He then entered a room that has strong gusts of wind. "A severe wind advisory is in effect up ahead," said Viridi. "Thanks for the heads-up," Pit thanked. "But no little breeze is going to slow ME down!" After getting through the strong winds, and taking down more Underworld enemies, Pit continued onwards and hopped on another Grind Rail. "How convenient!" he said. "Oh, I'm so pleased that it meets your approval," said Viridi, sarcastically. Pit said nothing after that, hopped off the Grind Rail, and entered another room where he was ambushed by more enemies. After taking them out, an Exo Tank appeared. "Look! The Chariot Master has an Exo Tank!" Viridi exclaimed. "Maybe he's a gearhead," Pit wondered. "Or a nerd!" said Hades. Pit hopped into the Exo Tank and used it to move onto the next room. He then found a giant racetrack. "Cool! It's a path made of light!" he exclaimed in amazement. "Well, this is a nice design flourish," said Viridi. "No. It's a practice track for the Lightning Chariot," said the Chariot Master. "It's not for amateurs!" After getting through the practice track, while taking down more enemies in there, Pit hopped off the vehicle and continued onwards. "This tower is ever so tiresome," he groaned. "How much longer are we even going to get to the top?" "Well, the answer to that is a simple one," Viridi replied. "You just have to keep on walking until you make it to the top." "Geez. Thanks for the 'advice' there, Viridi," Pit thanked, sarcastically. "And here I thought I was the sarcastic one," said Hades. Hmm. Something IS clearly wrong with Pit, Viridi suspected in thought. But I better not jump to conclusions yet until he comes back to my temple. After taking down more enemies, Pit entered a room with a giant pillar. "This pillar seems to have gems stuck on it," he said. "What should I do with them?" "The same thing you always do: shoot them," said Hades. Pit did so and shot a gem form the pillar. "Hey! It got lower!" he exclaimed. "Keep knocking it down to reveal a way forward!" said Viridi. Pit then continued to shoot at the gems and managed to lower the pillar down. "Success!" he said, but there were more Underworld enemies. After taking them down, he drank another Drink of the Gods and hopped onto the revealed Jump Pad to go up. After landing at a higher level, there were more Underworld troops waiting for him. "Now what do we have here?" Viridi asked. "It's time for my minions to do their thing," said Hades. "Underlings! I'm offering 100 gold for the putz's head!" "The name's Pit!" Pit scowled. "Yes. I know," Hades replied. "Your tenure as a ring doesn't seem to have had any effect on that keen wit of yours." "Wait, you know that I was turned into a ring?" Pit asked in shock. "Oh, is it a secret?" Hades replied. "Then don't mind me! Mum's the word!" "Did YOU turn me into a ring?" Pit questioned, demanding for answers. "Wow, you really are clueless," said Hades. "Don't you know, Pit? You're the cause of all this chaos." "Whaaaaat?! That makes no sense!" Pit yelled in disbelief. "Don't let him get to you, Pit," said Viridi. "The Underworld Army are the ones to blame." But I have a bad feeling about something else...unusual... she added in thought. "Why, thank you. That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard you say," said Hades. You know what? You're annoying," Viridi scowled. "Yow! She's feisty!" said Hades. "Wear gloves with this one, minions!" After taking down more enemies, Pit used another Jump Pad to move forward. "Am I ever going to get to the top of this tower?" Pit sighed. "I warned you before we got here that it was a long way up," said Viridi. "Yeah, no kidding," Pit sighed. "Plus if we were ever to be in a tower, the enemies would be ripped in torn into shreds!" This made Viridi gasp in shock about what she just heard. "Um...what did you just say, Pit?" she questioned. "Don't ask. I'm just going to destroy more Underworld monsters," Pit replied. "Oh my. Looks like someone is all fired up!" Hades exclaimed. "Icarus, keep your voice down of you don't want our enemies to become suspicious about us," Lucifer warned. This is getting serious, Viridi thought. I REALLY need to have a talk with him after this mission. Pit then took down more enemies and entered a room that was giant maze. "Really? A maze?" he groaned. "Are we seriously going to have a lot more difficult rooms along the way?" "Oh, don't worry, Pit," said Viridi." "It's not that big, so you shouldn't have much trouble." After taking down all of the enemies and finding a way out of the maze, Pit continued onwards. After going through around the tower, he entered a room where there were more Underworld enemies. "I've got a heaping helping of Underworld goodness for you, Pit!" said Hades. "He's saying that more enemies are on their way," said Viridi. "Clever, huh." "Yeah? Well, I whipped up a club-your-face sandwich!" said Pit. "Hope YOU'RE hungry!" After taking down all of the other enemies, Pit drank another Drink of the gods and exited the room. He then hopped on yet another Grind Rail. "Walking's for chumps!" he said. "Up you go!" said Viridi. "It's like watching a roller-skating chicken," said Hades. "Don't even pretend that that's not awesome!" Pit groaned in annoyance. After that, Pit continued to take down more enemies while on the Grind Rail. He also went through a lot of shōji doors. "Look at me go! I'm all, 'whoosh whooosh!'" he exclaimed. "Eloquently put as always," said Hades. But Viridi was silent when she heard that. Pit is starting to give me a bad feeling about him, she thought to herself. I better have a little talk with him. After Pit hopped off the Grind Rail, he entered a room that has a Cherubot. "Score!" he exclaimed. "Hop on in, Pit!" said Viridi. Pit did so and hopped in the Cherubot. "The Cherubot is pure mechanical brawn wrapped in an adorable package," Viridi continued. "So decimate anything that gets in your way." "Consider it done!" said Pit. Yet despite how he acted, he sounded like he didn't notice what he said about me and Hades earlier, Viridi thought. Something HAS to be wrong with him. After a while, the angel took down all of the enemies. "And that's the end of them!" he exclaimed. "Now to head on to the top of the tower." "You got that right," said Viridi. "Oh, and I have a special treat for you up ahead." Pit continued onwards, took down more enemies along the way, avoided an Orne, and entered a room where his gift was waiting. "What what WHAT IS THIS?!" he gasped. "A. HUGE. HOT SPRING!" "You're not the only Hot-Spring fan," said Viridi, after spotting a Bumbledrop in it. "Apparently Underworld monsters value relaxation too." "But why can't they relax somewhere else? THIS IS MY SPECIAL ME TIME!" said Pit. "Just focus on the mission, god damn it!" Lucifer scowled in annoyance. After that little relaxation, Pit continued onwards up the tower. "Pit, I have some exciting news for both of us," said Viridi. "The Chariot Master is just ahead. Brace yourself, because this battle is going to be big." I sure hope he'll be okay, because I still have a bad feeling about this, she added in thought. After arriving at the top of the tower, Pit drank a Drink of the Gods and entered inside.

But once Pit entered the room, he arrived at a racetrack. There he saw the Chariot Master waiting for him. "I've been expecting you, Angel of Light," he said. "Before we get down to business, I suggest you take of that laurel crown." Pit was silent while taking off the laurel crown and then tossed it aside. "Hey! Are you alright there, Pit?" Viridi asked, but she didn't receive a response. "What the? Why can't I contact you?! What's going on over there?!" "Looks like that young goddess isn't going to hear us at this moment because I blocked her," said the Chariot Master. "Why were you even waiting for me?" Pit asked. "Well, Pit, I know a lot about you," the Chariot Master explained. "You are working for the monster who killed my sister. You were the one responsible for the murder!" "Who even was your sister anyway?" Pit questioned. "My sister was Phosphora!" the Chariot Master yelled out. "You were the one who killed her alongside your evil brother! I am the brother of Phosphora. My real name is Hercules. I was the son of my late father." "Who was?" Pit asked. "Zeus. Your brother was the one who killed him and banished both me and my sister," Hercules replied. "And now my whole family is dead. My sister was executed twice, my father was ruthlessly murdered, and now I'm the only one left of my family. You should've known better than to work with your brother who is a selfish monster!" This made Pit furious. "You don't get to say something like that about my brother, Hercules!" he yelled. "He and I are working together to bring our family back together. We want both justice and revenge after what happened to my parents! And since you're the only one left of your family, I must execute you right here and now!" "I will not let that happen, Pit," said Hercules. "If you want to kill me, you must prove your worth first." He then hopped on a regular chariot with Lux. "Let's see if you can catch me," he continued as he zipped away as fast as he could. "Oh, you're going to regret the day you cross me, Hercules!" said Pit as he hopped into the other regular chariot with Phos and chased after Hercules to begin the battle.

"Pit, traitor of gods and mankind, I will defeat you once and for all in order to avenge my family!" said Hercules. "I will make you pay for murdering my family along with my uncle, Poseidon!" "Lucifer was the one who murdered Poseidon. Not me!" Pit countered. "I had to do all of the other dirty work. Right now, you're the only one left. After I'm done with you, I'll be going after other victims my brother targeted." "I will not let you commit mass murder on all of the innocent ones!" Hercules yelled out. "Take THIS!" Suddenly, he swiped his sword directly at Pit from above, only for the angel to duck quickly to avoid it. "Is that the best you can do?" he taunted. "Careful, Icarus. Hercules is not going down without a fight," Lucifer warned. "You must take him down quickly in order to take his soul. His last remains must be destroyed before collecting the soul." Pit wasted no time and shot different rapid shots at Hercules. "Not bad, Pit, but I'm only getting started with you," he said. "Now I'm going to show you what I can do. This is for my sister!" He lifted up his right hand and suddenly, a lightning bolt came out of it and zapped directly at the angel. "Argh!" he yelled. "My father taught me and my sister the electric element," Hercules explained. "We lived in harmony before your brother took their lives away! And now I'm going to defeat you right here and now before you ruthlessly murder more innocent lives!" "My brother and I are only doing this for our family rights!" Pit yelled. "You never knew anything about us! You'd rather let our parents die without even giving a second thought! We will kill every single one of you and then our master plan will be complete!" He suddenly released a powerful charged shot at Hercules to deal massive damage on him and stun him. "Now, Icarus! Bring out the melee combo to take him down!" Lucifer ordered and Pit got closer to Hercules, took out his bow, split them into two, and attacked Hercules with a big melee combo. "Have you had enough, Hercules?" he asked. "Not yet!" Hercules replied. "It's time to unleash my most devastating attack!" He then stopped and then got out of his chariot. Pit did the same thing and walked up to Hercules. "Think about your final regrets, traitor!" said Hercules. "Before I eliminate you with my final attack. Prepare to meet your fate for all the sins you committed!" He then suddenly clasped his hands together and his sword started to glow bright yellow with lightning bolts. Hercules took the sword in his hands and charged at Pit at high speeds. "Uh oh!" Pit gasped. "Do not fear, Icarus. Allow me to help you with this," said Lucifer and Pit's body started to glow red. "Now. Charge at Hercules with this power to finish him off!" Lucifer ordered and Pit charged at Hercules at high speeds. The two warriors got closer and closer with their powerful attacks until the made contact with their weapons. "This is where your journey ends here, Pit!" said Hercules. "I don't think so, Hercules!" Pit replied. "You will soon join your entire family...IN HELL!" With that, Pit knocked Hercules' sword out of his hands and pierced through him with a devastating blow to end the fight. "You lose!" he yelled in victory. "My family...I have failed you..." Hercules sighed in defeat.

Hercules collapsed to the ground and slowly began to die. "W-Why did you do this to us?" he asked the angel. "Don't you know who you're working with? Your brother is a monster who slaughtered all the innocent people!" "Shut up! We will do whatever it takes to bring our entire family back, even if it means sacrificing souls of the people who were once with me before!" Pit yelled. "None of you understand our pain, so we will make you suffer the same fate we felt many years ago!" He then took out the Sword of Death Lucifer gave him just in case. This made Hercules gasp in horror. "T-That can't be!" he said in shock. "That's the same murder weapon the emperor used to kill me and my sister! You killed my sister with that same weapon, Pit! Please, don't do this to me! I know you can change!" "Sorry, Hercules, but this is the only way to move on with the master plan," said Pit. "I'll say," said a new voice and suddenly, a portal opened. Out came the Devil himself, Lucifer. "Sorry I'm late. I had other preparations to take care of for the ritual," he told his brother. "You! You're the one who killed my uncle!" Hercules yelled. "That is correct," Lucifer replied. "And now that your whole family is gone, it's time for you to join them. Icarus, will you do the honors, please?" "Of course, my brother," said Pit. "This is for our parents, Hercules! Get ready to die!" "NO STOP!" Hercules attempted to plead, but it was too late as Pit lifted up the Sword of Death and lowered it down with a big stab to the stomach. Then, he proceeded to stab his victim more and more with each brutal strike. As Hercules began to bleed and cough out blood, he said, "*cough* Y-You're working for *cough* a monster! Y-You should *cough* n-not have d-done *cough* this!" After Hercules said his final words, Pit gave him the final fatal stab to the heart. Killing his last remains. Hercules' body slowly faded away and all that was left is his soul. "Excellent work, Icarus. That's another victim out of our way," said Lucifer. "Now take his soul and follow me to the Void. We shall put it in the ritual circle and then begin the next step of our plan." Pit nodded and took the soul in his hand. He also grabbed his laurel crown, but didn't put it back on yet. Lucifer opened up a portal and both brothers entered it to head to the Void.

Back in Hercules' tower, Viridi arrived on the top floor and found the Lightning Chariot still there. "That's odd. I thought Pit would bring the Lightning Chariot to my temple at this moment," she said to herself, confused. "Why would it still be here?" She then tried to contact Pit again. "Pit? Are you there?" she tried to ask him. "If you are, say something!" But there was no response. "Come on, Pit! I'm not trying to play around with you!" Viridi warned. "This is serious! Come out right now!" But there was still no response. "Ugh! This is wasting my time!" Viridi groaned. "Guess I'll have to bring the Lightning Chariot with me back to the temple myself." She then opened up a light pillar to whisk her and the Lightning Chariot back to her temple. "After I'm done with this, Pit has some explaining to do with this," said Viridi as she, along with the Lightning Chariot were whisked away to her temple.

Meanwhile in the Void, Pit already placed the soul in the ritual circle. "This is perfect. We're getting closer and closer to completing our master plan," said Lucifer. "Now that we've collected the next soul for the ritual, there are only two souls remaining; Palutena's and Viridi's souls." "But what about my dark self?" Pit asked. "Listen. Dark Icarus is only an incomplete and soulless clone of you," Lucifer explained. "Even if we defeated him, he's useless for our master plan because he doesn't have a soul. But, getting to the point, it's best to save Viridi's soul for last. Once you returned back to Viridi's temple, get everything prepared to kill Palutena. Got it?" "I understand, Lucifer," Pit replied with a nod. "Before you leave, there is something I need to tell you," said Lucifer. "I'm going to go back to Hercules' tower to collect another chariot called the Heavenly Chariot in case of emergencies. I used it to destroy Gaia's barrier years ago and now it's time for me to reclaim my prize. Once I get the chariot, we shall begin the next mission to steal Palutena's soul." Pit nodded and left the Void from an open portal in order to return back to Viridi's temple, while Lucifer left the Void to go back to Hercules' tower to obtain the Heavenly Chariot.

Back in Viridi's temple, the Goddess of Nature herself was waiting for Pit in the living room. The angel came out of his room and walked to the living room. "Where have you been, Pit?" Viridi asked. "I've been waiting for you to return and you didn't even bring the Lightning Chariot. I had to do it myself because of that. You better have an explanation because I am not in the mood for jokes." "What are you talking about? I just got back here safe and sound, Viridi," said Pit, however this made Viridi more suspicious about it. "If that's the case, then how DID you end up back here?" she asked. "Do not lie to me, Pit." "Icarus, Viridi is starting to get suspicious about us," Lucifer warned, telepathically. "Keep lying in order to stop the conversation." "Viridi, you're going crazy right now," Pit told the goddess. "Stop talking nonsense so we can get ready for the next mission." This made Viridi a little mad and more suspicious after she heard Pit say that. "Now you better listen to me, little angel," she started. "I'm the only goddess leader left of the Forces of Nature. How about you tell me what happened to my commanders? Did you do something to them?! Is that the reason why they're no longer here with us?!" Pit's eyes widened in shock after he heard Viridi say that. He suddenly remembered what Lucifer told him about Viridi.

Begin flashback
"Remember when I told you that Viridi is Gaia's daughter and the Second Goddess of Nature?" Lucifer started. "Um...yes...?" Pit replied. "Well, Gaia was the one who murdered our parents," Lucifer continued. "And since she was already dead, only her daughter is left standing with her crimes. She must be executed once all of her allies are dead!" "W-WHAT?!" Pit yelled. "VIRIDI IS OUR PARENTS' MURDERER'S DAUGHTER?!" "Precisely," said Lucifer. "HOW IS ANY OF THIS POSSIBLE?!" Pit shouted. "I CAN'T EVEN THINK THIS THROUGH ANYMORE!"
End flashback
After Pit remembered that flashback, he looked at the Goddess of Nature with anger and disgust. He finally snapped when he smiled evilly, lifted up his right hand, and slapped Viridi's face really hard. "OW!" she cried as she sank to the ground with her back on the wall. "You better listen to me, because I'm only going to say this once," Pit warned, menacingly. "If you ever talk to me about this ever again, there will be serious consequences. The next time you see me like this, you will feel an even greater pain I suffered a while ago. You got that?!" He then stomped away back to his room, leaving poor Viridi crying on the floor. "*sniff* Pit... Why did you do this?" she sobbed. "What has gotten into you...? Just... Why...?"
