Our Town.

I went against Stefan's wishes and followed Bonnie to the witches house. Stefan was right about it being easy, Bonnie never once looked back the whole trip here.

I was pleasantly surprised when I managed to follow her down the steps and saw all four coffins in all their glory.

"You should really pay more attention." I chastised from the steps, Bonnie turned around and looked at me startled. I raised an eyebrow, Elena daggered Rebekah so she wouldn't be with the other coffins…. Who did the extra one belong to?

"Please." Bonnie scoffed leaning against one of the coffins."I saw you before we even passed Elena's."

"Did not." I frowned, maybe I wasn't completely subtle with my sneaking.

"You honked at me twice." She replied laughing, I snorted Bonnie was driving like a grand mom and it was making me mad.

"Speed up then." I shrugged, I walked up to her and pushed open the coffin she was leaning on.

"What are you doing?" She stared at me intently, hmm. Did she not trust me to leave the dagger alone? Do I just have the reputation of someone who would completely disobey Stefan? Hell yeah.

"Just making sure everyone is accounted for before I let that fourth coffin confuse me." I replied, I stared down at Elijah and frowned. I was hoping atleast to have opened Finn's coffin and felt indifference but it bothered me having to leave Elijah like this.

"That's Elijah." She pointed to the open one and said in a very obvious tone."The other two brothers, and this one is locked." She pointed to each of the respective coffins.

"And Rebekah isn't here?" I wanted to confirm it, before I got to work figuring out who the hell was in it.

"Nope. They gave her to Klaus." Bonnie replied. I frowned that explained the weird feeling I got, Rebekah knows what happened to their mother so he couldn't free her. And if Elena stabbed her in the back then, Klaus would've had to remove the dagger and put it correctly so he didn't have to stare at his face down sister.

"So who is this?" I asked, Bonnie shrugged."I guess we have the same information?"

"Yup." She replied lighting up some candles in the basement, she stood in front of the fourth coffin and started chanting.

"Are we trying to open it? It's locked for a reason." I warned, whether it was sealed by Klaus or somebody else that coffin probably never needed to be opened.

"Whatever is inside can kill Klaus." Bonnie said with a frown, her spell obviously didn't work."Give me your talisman."

"Fuck you." I clutched my necklace, the last thing I needed was for Bonnie to actually get that damn coffin open. I don't think they really processed the aftermath of killing Klaus, unless they intended on never waking his siblings. But Elena had compassion, she'd insist on waking Elijah who would then wake the others and we'll be dead.

"No need to be territorial." Bonnie shrugged, the coffins spontaneously disappeared. I stared at Bonnie confused but she just pointed upstairs. After a second I heard the footsteps and understood, Bonnie wasn't hiding them the witches were.

We went upstairs and were surprised to see Damon, I guess Bonnie wasn't the only one who trusted her sibling here. Before we could even say anything a Hybrid jumped out the house, Damon flashed after it. Bonnie & I ran to the front door but Damon had already killed it. Ripped the poor guys heart right out.

"One of yours?" Damon turned to me still clutching the heart in his hand. I gulped and shook my head. He carelessly tossed it to the side."These hybrids are bringing down the neighborhood."

After that fiasco we didn't stick around, Bonnie & I headed off straight to school. I didn't really stick with her when we got there, her & Elena were decorating Caroline's locker for her birthday which I had zero intentions of doing.

I was quickly realizing I should've made other friends because outside of Bonnie, Caroline & Tyler I was definitely a loner. Maybe I could convince Klaus to undagger Rebekah so I wouldn't die my senior year of boredom.

I went through two periods before I realized everybody else ditched. And you know what they say if you can't beat them join them, so I left.

I was climbing into my car when I felt somebody grab my car door.

"The last time somebody randomly touched my car it crashed." I commented, I looked up and frowned seeing who it was.

"Ghosts." Tyler replied with a chuckle."Well I'm not one of them."

"You will be." I smiled, it was Caroline's birthday and here was Tyler talking to me in the parking lot? Shouldn't he be with everybody else.

"You can't take me, Ima hybrid remember." Tyler teased, he hit the unlock button on my door and walked around to the passenger side before hopping in."And you Alicia, are the very mortal although hot and powerful witch."

"Oh yeah? Considering I've taken you before. I think I'll manage." I replied starting the car, I kept my head straight because I definitely knew I crossed the line with that choice in words.

"You wanna find out?" He shot back, my cheeks turned bright red as I backed out the parking spot.

"What do you want Tyler?" I asked trying to quickly change the subject, the last thing I needed was for this to turn sexual when I'm supposed to be ignoring the both of them.

"Care & I broke up." He replied, I turned my head to look at him. I didn't know what to make of him being here with me right now.

"Am I second fiddle right now? Are you in my car because she doesn't want you around?"

"Yes, no." He replied frustratedly, I put the car into park and glared at him."I saw you were leaving, and I'm supposed to watch out for you. I thought we could hang out?"

"Sure, let's go hang out with Klaus." I put the car back into drive. I'm going to tell Klaus to command Tyler to atleast watch me from a distance because climbing into my car and creating sexual tension is not appropriate.

"Cool, he wanted to see me anyway." Tyler shrugged, I groaned this was gonna be a long day. We spent the car ride in forced silence, Tyler kept trying to talk to me but I'd shut it down because reasons.

We walked up to the front door, I paused to knock but Tyler just opened it up and walked inside. Right of course a locked door didn't matter to a Hybrid.

"You called? I'm here. What happened." Tyler said as we walked into the foyer, I frowned seeing the Hybrid girls headless body on the floor.

"What happened is Stefan had two possibilities and he chose the one that would make me angry. I need you to help me do something about it." Klaus said, I raised an eyebrow confused about where this could go, nobody trusted Tyler. Hell, I didn't even trust him.

"Can't you just leave me out of it?" Tyler pleaded, I'm sure he knew it was going to fall onto deaf ears cause why would he?

"What would the point of that be?" Klaus asked and I hated that I agreed with him, what good would having someone they won't hurt do if you can't use him.

"Seriously man, I lost my friends, my girlfriend. Can't you just ask another hybrid?" Tyler said, I felt bad for him. He was hanging around me because he knew even though I couldn't stand his ass right now I'd always be his friend.

"Right your girlfriend." Klaus said, my heart started to pound what could Klaus want with Caroline."I need you to bite her."

"Are you out of your mind?" I yelled before Tyler could even respond. A few of his hybrids looked on edge but I rolled my eyes. I wanted to stay on Klaus' good side so I probably shouldn't kill them.

"A hybrid bite would kill a vampire." Tyler said I hoped Klaus was just testing the limits of the sire bond right now.

"Alicia, it would be in your best interest not to be on my bad side." Klaus warned, Tyler growled and stepped between us. I was taken aback at the fact he was even able to do that. "Yeah, I know exactly what it'll do. Stefan pushed me too far."

"You're not hurting Alicia, and I'm not biting Caroline." Tyler replied, he was trying so hard to stand his ground but at the end of the day it would be for nothing.

"Tyler you've been supernaturally blessed for the good fortune I've given you. So consider me putting your loyalty to the test." Klaus said he didn't even bat an eye at Tyler refusing him.

"Alright, I'm disappointed but you know it's your choice. free will and all that." Klaus said, putting his hands behind his back." I'll find another way to strike Stefan, you're free to go, but leave Alicia here."

"What no." Tyler argued but I shook my head.

"It's fine, I'll catch up with you later. Meet me at my gramms? I'll text you."

"Are you sure?" Tyler asked, staring skeptically between Klaus & I.

"Yeah, I'll be fine." I replied, Klaus wiggled his fingers at Tyler as he slowly left the house."What do you want?"

"I'm going to put the house in your name." He said, I stared at him confused." It'll keep the riff raff out not that I need it, but in case I or the others need a safe place."

"So you intend on waking them when you get them back?" I asked I knew Klaus wasn't Elijah he wasn't a man of his word but I hoped when it came to his siblings he was.

"I do."

"If I do this for you, you'll call Tyler back and tell him to not hurt Caroline." I said crossing my arms, you could see Klaus think long and hard about it before shaking his head.

"She won't come to any harm, I'm going to heal her." He replied I was confused was it just meant to scare them then? Since Alaric literally died I wouldn't think Klaus' next move would be less extreme.

"You plan on healing her?"

"I do, if Tyler actually does go through with it." He said, I stared at him mildly impressed maybe in his own sick twisted way he did have a bit of a heart."You should go be with her to let me know what happens."

"Okay." I turned on my heel and started to leave but I stopped in my tracks."Is it possible for you to just have somebody else watch me? Tyler's kinda hard to be around."

I glanced over my shoulder in time to see Klaus look at me confused. "I told Tyler to look out for you while I was gone, Tiana is your hybrid who follows you now."

"Tiana?" I asked confused, so Tyler lied but why?

"Tiana come here." Klaus yelled out, a second passed before a girl with beautiful chocolate skin approached she was skinny and looked nowhere near intimidating. Hell she looked like a kid. Nobody would ever suspect her of anything.

"Huh? So your my hybrid? Well let's go hang out." I smiled draping my arm over her shoulder, she looked at Klaus unsure of what to do before looking back at me.

"Go ahead love, Alicia's the only nice one."

I dragged Tiana away and climbed into the car, I knew I needed to go to Caroline's. It was her birthday and no matter what we never missed birthdays but I was just so mad at her still.

"Why did you want to hangout? You look like Ms Popular to me." Tiana asked, I raised an eyebrow as I drove back toward my house.

"I am but I'm not approachable. You know I have a twin sister right?" I asked I could see her nod out the corner of my eye."Well she's the nice one so by default I'm the mean one."

"But Klaus said you were the only nice one?"

"To him. I'm nice to him because I have a brain." I explained, the others would do a million things to spite him while I cooperate so when he does go on his murder spree I won't be on that list."And he's not completely awful, and neither are his siblings."

"You've met them? He has the others searching for them constantly." She said.

"Only Rebekah and Elijah." I lied, it would be dumb of me to tell a hybrid I'd met the others.

"Are they like Klaus?"

"They're vampires." I replied unsure of her exact question when she looked at me as if she wanted to know more I shrugged."Rebekah had to have turned at like 17, she's a teenage girl at heart. Elijah is very honorable and very noble. You'll meet them."

"If I don't end up dead, we're slowly being killed." She said with a frown. As a hybrid she was supposed to be one of the most powerful creatures to exist but she looked like a scared little girl to me.

"How old are you?" I asked after a long pause, it was killing me not to know.

"17." She replied."I was the only one out of my family to turn so my dad sent me to live with my pack."

"I'm sorry." I said not knowing what else to say.

"Don't be, I no longer have to turn and one day I'll go back to live with them." She replied with a small smile.

"Did Klaus order you to be friendly? The others seem kinda murdery?"

"No. That's why he assigned me to you I wouldn't need to be murdery." She explained running her fingers through her hair." He called you easy duty, which I get because Tony was the one following the doppleganger and that was a shit show."

I stopped at home and grabbed my wallet before Tiana and I drove to the mall, she helped me pick out an adorable dress for Caroline along with matching shoes courtesy of the Hybrid discount.

She also gave me similar advice to Bonnie, if I was able to sit and speak to Tyler as if he isn't the one who broke my heart then I should be able to do the same thing with Caroline who has been my best friend forever.

I dropped her off at the mansion even though I knew she would end up just leaving out to find me again later anyways.

I drove to Caroline's, hopefully the two of us could move forward and not let Tyler ruin our friendship. All the lights were off and that was completely fine it would give me time to think of my words carefully.

I was about to pack it up and head home when Liz came home, she looked exhausted but that faded when she saw me.

"Alicia." She pulled me into a hug and eyed the purple sparkly gift bag in my hand."Are you guys talking again?"

"No, but I'm here to apologize." I explained handing her the bag so she could look inside of it.

"Designer? Caroline should be the one apologizing to you though." Liz chuckled, unlocking the front door the two of us walked inside and she went straight to the kitchen."Are you hungry or anything?"

"No, I filled up in Cinnabon and Auntie Anne's. You don't have to play host with me take a nap you look tired." I smiled, Liz closed the fridge and without another word went upstairs. I got comfortable on the couch and turned on the TV, it didn't take too much time before I heard fumbling at the front door.

I got up and opened it the smile on my face dropped when I noticed Matt carrying a sweaty Caroline.

"Sheriff Forbes!" He yelled, Liz came bolting down the steps her face paled when she spotted how bad Caroline looked.

"What happened?" She asked, the only solace I had in this was that Klaus wasn't actually going to let her die because the look on Liz's face was heartbreaking.

"Tyler bit her." Matt explained carrying her over to the couch.

"Oh my god, sweetheart." Liz cried out, she followed Matt to the couch and tired to help get Caroline comfortable."Be careful, Caroline can you hear me."

"I'm sorry mom." Caroline said she looked directly at Liz but you could tell she wasn't really there.

"She's hallucinating." I explained kneeling down in front of the blonde, I could tell Matt was skeptical about me being here but he did his best not to show it.

"I didn't know what to do, nobody was answering." Matt explained, Liz stood teary eyed staring at her daughter. I held Caroline's hand and for a brief moment she looked fine.

"Alicia?"

"Hey." I said awkwardly. I knew it wouldn't help but I held up the back to show her anyway."Happy Birthday."

"What's happy about it?" She asked, I snorted. She was definitely still Caroline."Why did Tyler do this?"

"Stefan." I replied, I could hear Liz scoff while Matt stood off to the side awkwardly."If he just returned the coffins this wouldn't have happened."

"Excuse me." Liz stepped out the room, my guess was to call Damon and see if there was anything that could be done.

"So what do we do? Is she gonna die?" Matt asked.

"No, but we should get her upstairs. The couch isn't super comfortable and I just farted on it." I explained Matt cracked a small smile before hoisting Caroline up and carrying her up the stairs. He placed her down in her bed and the two of us just watched her for a second she was sound asleep.

"I wish she would've stayed with you." I commented, Matt looked at me hard for a moment.

"I do too, but I'm not mad at her for choosing Tyler. She followed her heart and he made her happier than I could've."

"I know." I sighed sitting down on the bed beside her."She'll be fine Matt so if you wanna head home you can, I'm gonna call Klaus."

"Are you sure? How do I know you won't stake her?"

"She's my best friend til death do us part." I stared down at Caroline and frowned."Permanent death."

"Okay. Call me and update me please."

"I will." I replied Matt left, I sat and stared at Caroline for a moment longer before pulling out my phone and calling Klaus.

"Tyler bit Caroline. I need you to heal her." I said as soon as the phone stopped ringing.

"I'm a bit preoccupied at the moment, little witch." Klaus replied I got annoyed he told me he'd heal her which was the only reason I even went along with it.

"Preoccupied how?"

"Stefan snatched Elena and fed her vampire blood." Klaus explained, Stefan was evil Stefan right now but I doubted Elena was in any actual danger."He threatened to drive her off the bridge, I'm currently getting all my hybrids out of town."

"Off the bridge?" I asked disgusted, Stefan knew Elena's parents died that exact same way and still did it anyway.

"Yes, I'll be there to heal Caroline after the last of my hybrids are gone."

"Okay."

When I hung up Caroline was staring at me, I knew she heard the conversation and I knew she definitely was worried about Elena. Caroline had the biggest heart.

"Is she gonna be okay?"

"I'm sure but I can call her to check after we talk if that's okay?" I asked, Caroline nodded at me weakly."I'm sorry."

"No I'm sorry." She replied." Elena didn't care that I dated Matt, so I just kind of assumed."

"Oh no I care. But our friendship is more important, so if he does make you happy then you have my blessings." I said sighing."I'm sorry for not equally being mad at the both of you."

"As your best friend I crossed the line more." She said coughing."I shouldn't have done it and I know if you were around it wouldn't have happened."

"It's in the past." I shrugged, leaning down and pulling the blonde into a hug.

"Are we friends again?"

"Til permanent death do us part." I smiled at her, she forced a small smile back."Now why didn't I see you in school today?"

"I'm stuck in a filler age, I just wasn't feeling my birthday this year. And Ty and I broke up, I just felt depressed."

"Your body is yes, you'll forever be this beautiful. I think you'd rather look like this than Elijah. He clearly died at 30." I replied, granted Elijah looked damn good at age 30, but you could see his skin aged a lot more than Caroline's or even Klaus' did.

"I guess not, but I'm not asking for much. 18 would've worked." She pouted.

"Clothing, hair and makeup will make you look older trust me." I shrugged, the two of us chatted and caught up on the last few months of each other's lives. It was a way to keep us both distracted until Klaus arrived to heal her.

"That looks bad, my apologies love." Klaus said from the doorway in two seconds he was standing beside me looking down at Caroline in bed."You are just collateral damages, nothing personal. I love birthdays."

"You are old." I muttered, Klaus gave me a look but Caroline laughed.

"Yeah, haven't you had like a billion or something?" She asked, even dying she was still going to piggy back onto one of my jokes.

"Well you adjust your perception of time when you become a vampire." He said it to her but he was looking directly at me, I sighed and stood up giving Klaus my spot to sit down." Caroline, celebrate the fact that you're no longer bound by trivial human conventions. You're free."

"No, I'm dying." She replied weakly.

"And I could let you die if that's what you wanted. Although I'd never hear the end of it from Alicia, if you really believe your existence has no meaning. I thought about it once or twice myself over the centuries, truth be told." He said, I raised an eyebrow. Did he somehow know exactly what Caroline was going through?"But I'll let you know a little secret. There is a whole world out there, waiting for you. Great cities and art and music, genuine beauty. And you can have all of it. You can have a thousand more birthdays. All you have to do is ask."

"I don't want to die." Caroline said, I watched in awe as Klaus held his arm out to her, Caroline bit into his wrist and drank from him.

"Happy Birthday, Caroline." He says as the blonde drifts off to sleep again. He stands up from the bed and pulls a gift box out of his pocket, he placed it down on the nightstand beside and silently motions for me to follow him.

"What was that?" I asked lowly, Liz was in her room and only Klaus and Me were in the livingroom.

"I meant it when I said I love birthdays."

"But how do you know it's her birthday? How do you know about how she was feeling? " I was beyond confused. And I hated the feeling of being confused.

"Tyler." He replied with a shrug, my jaw dropped as it clicked in my head finally.

"Were you trying to push Tyler back toward me because you have a thing for Caroline?"

"She's an absolute delight." He replied, I raised an eyebrow mildly impressed. Caroline was able to catch the eye of a thousand year old hybrid without even trying.

"I wasn't trying to push Tyler back to you for my own gain, I assumed that was what you wanted." He replied, I thought it was what I wanted also but now. I think after spending time with Caroline I was ready to let it go.

"No, that was over before we even left town. I'm going to move on." I smiled, Klaus gave me a small nod before disappearing. I went back upstairs to Caroline's room and laid down beside her. I hadn't had a sleepover with my best friend in months and I refused to miss out on any more lost time.

When I woke up the next morning Caroline was sitting on the edge of the bed staring at a very shiny expensive bracelet. I sat up and recognized the empty box to be the one Klaus had left last night.

"This is too much." She said without even turning around.

"It's a birthday/apology gift." I shrugged as she held the piece of jewelry out for me to get a look at it."If you ask me you guys are just barely even."

"And you got me red bottoms?" She put the bracelet down on her nightstand and motioned to the gift bag by the door."What about me almost dying made you guys so generous."

"Also a birthday/apology gift."

"Right." She hummed, she turned and looked at me before pulling me into a tight hug."You don't know how much I missed you."

"Neither do you." I grinned returning the hug."We're never gonna let another guy get between us again."

"Unless it's for a supernatural threesome."

"That does sound hot if we get a wolf in here it could be some tribrid action." I said as we both busted out laughing. To think all we needed to be friends again was for her to almost die and for a good hybrid to give me a lecture.
