Dangerous Liaisons

The next morning I headed home, I needed to get changed and despite Caroline insisting she wanted me to stay, I knew the vampire well enough to know she actually wanted to be alone.

I showered and got dressed, my phone had been ringing like crazy the entire time. I wasn't surprised to see it was a combination of Elena, Rebekah & Damon.

I was actually surprised that Damon was the one filling me in on the new findings. The sealed coffin held Esther, the original's mother. How a witch managed to be perfectly preserved for a thousand years was beyond me but whatever. Bonnie & Mom were able to open it but she knocked them both out before they actually saw her.

Rebekah had also went after Elena this morning but Elijah intervened just barely, saving her life. Elijah also is the one who updated Elena on who was in the coffin.

Elena's texts were just her checking in on Caroline, which I understand. I told her she wanted some space and left it at that. Rebekah's messages were completely all over the place, she went from plotting Elena's death to cursing Elijah to inviting me over her house all in the span of 15 minutes.

It wasn't any point in keeping the original waiting, so I went downstairs to scoop up my keys. I threw the door opened and stopped in my tracks. A big white box sat on my front porch with an envelope attached to it.

I looked around skeptical just in case somebody was waiting for me to let my guard down, I felt around with my magic a bit until I felt safe. I snatched the envelope from the box. My name was written in the most beautiful handwriting I'd ever seen in my life. I quickly opened up the envelope my curiosity getting the better of me.

I blushed as I scooped the box up, Rebekah could wait a bit longer. I kicked the front door closed behind me and bolted up the steps. I slowly opened the box up and I couldn't stop the gasp that escaped my lips. The dress was strapless and black, I pulled it out and gushed at how lightweight and flowy the bottom of it was. The bodice had intricate silver designs on it while the rest of the dress had silver sparkles on it.

I needed to go to the mall, this dress needed the perfect accessories, nothing I had would do it any justice.

I folded it back up the way it originally was and placed it inside the box. I grabbed my car keys and went back down the steps, I think I had enough time to see Rebekah. And then run to the mall, I groaned looking at my hair in the rear view mirror.. I definitely needed to get that done also.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got to Rebekah's house, she had nail people along with hair and make-up people on standby. She didn't realize how much time she saved me already.

She rushed me to the living room sofa where two women quickly started on my nails, while two more got to work taking out my braids and another slathered a face mask onto my skin.

"You thought of everything." I laughed, she was getting the exact same treatment I was getting.

"Us girls have to look our best." Rebekah purred, I couldn't help but notice the ladies were painting my nails black.

"Is it a coincidence you chose black nail polish?"

"Whatever do you mean?" Rebekah asked, her voice was full of fake innocence. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed Kol saunter in the room, he was already dressed in his suit minus the jacket and looked extremely good.

"Rebekah, tell me how handsome I am." He smirked never taking his eyes off the mirror.

"Ah, Kol you know I cannot be compelled." Rebekah teased, Kol pouted and turned to me he wiggled his eyebrows at me and I'm sure if I wasn't wearing this face mask he'd know I blushed.

"What about you darling?"

I started to respond, something along the lines of that's it, get naked. But Klaus barged in, and boy did he look angry.

"You went after Elena? What is wrong with you?"

"Here we go." Rebekah just inspected her nails. The fact that she couldn't careless was gonna send Klaus into an even bigger frenzy.

"Do you want another dagger in your heart?" He threatened, before anybody could even do anything Kol whipped around ready to defend his little sister.

"Again with the dagger threats? Don't you have any other tricks?"

"Oh go back to staring at yourself." Klaus scoffed, turning back to Rebekah.

"And who are you? My father?" Kol taunted, it was kind of refreshing to see people who weren't afraid to stand up to Klaus. But I really didn't need them getting into a fight while I had a quarter of my hair taken out.

"No but you're in my house." Klaus retorted, technically once I signed the paperwork it would be my house but that's for another day.

"Then perhaps we should go outside." Kol challenged. I cringed Kol was clearly the wild child which was probably what led to his daggering to begin with.

An older woman with blonde hair and blue eyes barged into the room. She looked a lot like what I imagine Rebekah would've looked like if she was allowed to age.

"Enough! Niklaus, come." She ordered, Klaus put his head down and followed her out the room. I whistled astonished at the fact there was a person on this earth who could talk to him that way and he'd obey.

"That was interesting." I commented, staring at the door the two disappeared through.

"Sorry about Niklaus." Finn said, I flinched and got my hair yanked in the process. I had no idea Finn was even in the room. As expected my hair ended up taking much longer than Rebekah planned so she headed off to the grill with an envelope of her own. It was kinda cute she was hoping to get that redo with Matt.

I was surprised once Rebekah's team finished up with me. My long dark hair was done in loose curls and my make up was also black with silver accents paired with a soft pink lip.

When Rebekah came back she was carrying the box my dress came in, I was curious how she got it but shrugged it off glad I wouldn't have to run out and grab it.

She dragged me off to her bedroom which was bigger than my entire living room. I stared in awe as she pulled out her dress, the Original family was blessed with everything a non-immortal person could ask for.

"We're going to be the prettiest girls there." Rebekah grinned at me, she opened up her jewelry box and pulled out a gorgeous silver Diamond necklace."You better give that back, it belonged to a queen."

"I'm curious if you did all this because you like me or if you're just trying to fix me up with your brother." I teased clasping the necklace around my neck, I changed out of my outfit and into the dress while Rebekah changed into hers.

"Can't it be both?" She replied innocently, she opened up her closet and pulled out two shoe boxes. I rolled my eyes knowing that the other pair was meant for me.

"You're too nice to me." I popped open the box and pulled the heels out, everything the Mikealson's touched was expensive.

"If I'm going to be stuck in this god forsaken town I might as well make the most of it." Rebekah shrugged, I found it a bit weird. I hadn't heard from Bonnie all day but shrugged it off. She might still be busy with Mom.

I walked down the windy steps to the main room, and stared in amazement. The house looked beautiful and so many people from town looked amazing on such short notice.

From where I was standing I noticed Damon with Kol & Carol. I caught eyes with Kol who completely blew Damon off and walked right up to me, Damon stared at the back of his head in disbelief.

"I think you hurt his feelings." I commented, as Kol reached out and took my hand making sure to plant a soft kiss on top of my knuckle.

"He'll be okay, he looks like he can stand to be knocked down a few pegs." Kol replied, grabbing a glass of champagne from a tray of a passing girl. He passed it to me and smiled cheekily when I accepted."I knew you would look stunning in that dress, Darling."

"Just like your sister you have an eye for fashion." I complimented, Kol shrugged oh so modestly."Where did you find it on such short notice?"

"I saved it many lifetimes ago, it hasn't been out in several hundred years and I think you were the perfect occasion."

"Oh? Are you trying to become my favorite Original? Because Elijah owns that spot by default." I grinned as Kol rolled his eyes, I frowned seeing Elena walk into the ball with a Salvatore on each arm.

"Elijah is such a bore." Kol replied, he followed my line of eye sight and knew exactly what I was staring at."Her's is just a cheap knock off. It wasn't worn by Royalty."

"Doesn't make the fact we're wearing similar dresses any better." I tore my eyes away from her and back to Kol."But mine is special, I'm gonna go find my friends but I hope to find you for that dance you requested later."

"Of course." He grinned devilishly before we walked off in two separate directions, Elena was alone at the bar while the brothers were elsewhere which was strange already.

"I knew I had one twin, but a second?" I teased leaning beside her, Elena looked at me confused before eyeing up my dress.

"I actually like yours better." She replied, I took a sip of her drink and frowned. I didn't expect to actually see her here.

"The gold does look nice." I hummed handing her back her drink, I raised an eyebrow when Finn joined us he slid into the seat on the other side of Elena.

"Elena Gilbert, I presume? I'm Finn Mikealson, you're here to see my mother?" Finn asked, I raised an eyebrow that was an interesting detail that I'm sure nobody else knew.

"Is she here?" Elena asked. Esther wanted to see Elena, and Elena had Doppelganger blood which was what was used to create the Originals and and be used for a whole lot of other things. Yes, that's not redflaggy at all.

"Her request did not include your friends." He looked at me as if he hadn't even noticed I was there."But Alicia can accompany you."

"Me? I've been here all day and your mother hasn't even breathed in my direction." I scoffed, the lady was a crappy host outside of her chastising Klaus I hadn't actually seen her.

"They're protecting me, you may not know but your mother tried to kill me already." Elena shot it down. I was shocked that she'd even do that considering how much she hated the Originals.

"If you want to see my mother, Alicia is the only exception, otherwise come alone." Finn said, turning and walking off. Elena & I looked at each other skeptical. I noticed all the siblings lined up on the steps with Elijah front and center.

I nod at Elena to follow me as Elijah got everybody's attention.

"Welcome, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance." Elijah says as Esther rejoined them, I noticed when she reappeared Elena vanished. I take it, I'm not actually invited to this meeting after all."Tonight's pick is a centuries old waltz, so if all of you could please find a partner and join us in the ballroom."

One by one the siblings descended the stairs, I could waste time finding somebody to dance with or I could just go straight to Kol. I felt like I should tip either him or Elijah off.

Kol found me before I found him, we swiftly fell into step with the dance. I noticed Elena with Damon & Caroline with Klaus? I would need to hear all about that later on.

"You're paying more attention to my brother than me." Kol said, I turned my attention from Caroline & Klaus back to him. Kol really did have a strong resemblance to Elijah but while Elijah looked stiff and proper, Kol looked like an absolute good time to hang out with. Not that Elijah wasn't.

"I was curious how he got my best friend to dance with him." I replied. I noticed Kol look over my shoulder and scoff.

"She's pretty."

"I know where this is going." I replied, Kol tore his eyes away from them and back to me.

"And where do you think this is going?"

"You're about to Sabotage that for Klaus thus upsetting my friend in the process." I explained, Kol's face went straight for a moment before he started to laugh.

"Reading each other's minds already, Darling?"

I laughed as we swapped partners, I ended up in Damon's arms who stared at where I'd just come from skeptically.

"Kol? I was sure you had a thing for Klaus or Elijah." Damon teased, I swatted the back of his head and laughed.

"They're all so wonderful. An Original on each arm might be just as hot as a Salvatore on each." I teased back, Damon purposely stepped on my foot so I stomped on his back.

"That is a gorgeous dress, I've seen it already tonight but it's nice the second time." He replied, I scoffed and gave him a fake laugh.

"Mine is vintage. And definitely couture."

"Ah, nice come back." He taunted, I went to hit him again but we switched partners yet again. I was dancing with Elijah who was a pleasant change to the last two I'd had.

"I was wondering when I'd run into you." I grinned, as he twirled me around."I need to tell you something."

"What is it?"

I leaned closer to Elijah's ear, I couldn't risk Finn overhearing me wherever he was.

"Your Mother wants a secret meeting with Elena." I whispered so lowly I barely even heard myself. Elijah leaned closer to my other ear.

"What about?"

"Probably killing you all or to apologize. My moneys on murder though." I replied, Elijah leaned away from my ear first so I followed suit and backed up some too.

"My brother Kol is quite taken with you." Elijah randomly said, I raised an eyebrow at the shift in conversation but knew I should just go along with it.

"I didn't notice." I replied I wasn't sure if I really wanted to engage with Kol. He was funny, and charming but he also had the same volatile personality as his other siblings. I could handle a petty squabble with Klaus or Rebekah but a lover's quarrel, we might kill each other.

"He holds witches to the highest regards, he'd never hurt you or your sister." Elijah said, I snorted because Kol's words were the first thing that came to mind. Reading each other's minds already, Darling.

"That's good to know." I replied, we danced for a bit longer before Elijah and I parted ways. I hoped he was going to investigate whatever Elena & his mother could have to talk about. Kol was talking to Rebekah who looked very upset and I rather not get sucked into that. Ya know Volatile personalities and all. I went outside for some fresh air, it had gotten stuffy in the ballroom very quick. I spotted Caroline standing by a horse.

I didn't know these people had horses.

I strolled right up to Caroline and started petting the horse as if she wasn't there.

"Leave it to you to choose a horse over me." Caroline scuffed, I stopped petting the horse and turned to her.

"You know I would blow the town up if it meant a I could touch cuddly creature. Hell, I stole a dead woman's dog."

"Alicia the animal lover, I forgot." Caroline laughed as she took over petting the horse. I noticed she was also wearing the bracelet Klaus had gotten her.

"So that dress is really pretty."

"So is yours." She replied, I chewed my bottom lip. I knew she was about to make me work for the info." Where did you get it?"

"Kol it belonged to a Queen." I grinned twirling a bit so Caroline could get the full view of my gown.

"Hm, I wonder who's idea it was first."Caroline snorted as she motioned to her dress."Klaus gave me mine."

"He has great taste." I complimented Caroline's dress was strikingly beautiful, blue was definitely her color.

"He does, and I am so confused. Why is he so nice to me?" She asked, I heard a throat clear behind us and we both turned around as if he'd heard his name. I took the hint and left the two alone.

I went up onto the back porch and pulled my phone out of my bra and called Bonnie, I was absolutely tired of her being MIA especially since Esther was roaming around free already.

"Bonnie Bennett, I've called you 7 times. If I have to call again I'm gonna conjure myself up right in front of you and whoop your ass." I threatened hanging up, I was tired of getting her voicemail and plus I needed somebody to check on Rudy but that's a different story.

"Alicia." I whipped around to see Elijah standing in the door way."I talked to Elena."

"You talked to Elena?" I asked confused, he expected her to actually tell him what Esther intended on doing.

"Yes, she claims Mother just wanted to apologize to her, however I do not believe her." Elijah replied he held his arm out to me, I locked arms with and he guided me back inside."I'm not sure if I would've believed it if I hadn't spoken to you earlier."

"You didn't need to hear it from me, you're smart I just confirmed what you already thought was up." I replied, Elijah paused suddenly I looked around but I didn't hear or see a thing. I heard a loud crash not too far from where we'd just came from.

"That sounds like Damon." I scoffed. Stefan made it out the door first which pretty much confirmed my suspicion.

"Damon!" Stefan yelled out, Damon turned and faced us unfortunately for us the shouting attracted the rest of the Original family.

I heard heels clicking and held my arm out, I knew Elena was running up to intervene.

"Are you crazy?" I asked in disbelief, it looked like Damon picked a fight with Kol and won? What kind of plot armor was this?

"Maybe a little." His eyes went from Stefan and straight to Elena, I frowned. Of course this had something to do with her."Far be it for me to cause a problem."

"Yes, get us all killed because you're having marital problems." I mumbled it was pretty dumb of me to even do since everybody but Elena & Esther would hear me. Damon didn't give two shits about my comment and just walked off.

I didn't really feel comfortable hanging around anymore and decided to leave. Rebekah or Damon could fill me in on exactly what the hell happens tomorrow anyway.

When I got home I was a bit taken aback by the sight I saw, Bonnie & Mom were curled up on the couch with Rudy laying right in between them.

"Are we having mother-daughter time without me?" I frowned tossing my keys down onto the table. Bonnie's eyes widened when she saw me and Mom teared up.

"I told you, you should've gone." Mom said, jumping out from the couch, she had a camera appear out of nowhere and started taking pictures."You have to go to prom!"

"One day at a time, Abby." Bonnie laughed. Bonnie was standing beside her staring at my dress in awe."That dress looks stunning on you."

"It's cute right?" I asked twirling around,I giggled as the light made the silver dance around me."Kol gave it to me."

"Kol?" Mom asked she looked at Bonnie who frowned."He's one of them isn't he."

"The one who happens to adore witches." I added hoping the two of them would change their facial expressions but they only got worse.

"I know you're trying to get over Tyler but an original?" Bonnie asked shaking her head. I didn't reply, I whistled signaling Rudy to follow me and went upstairs. I never said I was even interested in Kol, they just shat all over the idea of me even being a close enough associate of his to give anything. I wrapped my hair up and took a quick shower, I got comfortable in bed and went to sleep.

I was not going to let them shit on my fairytale fantasy again tonight.
