When I woke up Kol was gone, I'd expected that after all he did mention he was leaving town. I was surprised to find a note neatly folded up on my nightstand.
I opened it up as I sat up at the edge of the bed.
I wanted to wake you, but I remembered what a night with me typically does to a person. Here's my number, call me when you wake up we have much to discuss.
-Your favorite Original
I scoffed since technically I hadn't slept with any other Originals so that would make Kol the favorite by default. I scooped up my phone from beside the note and saved his number. I had a missed text from Bonnie saying Abby was going to complete the transition and they'd be leaving in a few hours if I wanted to come too.
I was only an hour late opening the message so I texted her I'm coming. I showered, got dressed and pulled my phone out to call Kol, when I threw my front door open my jaw dropped parked right in my driveway was a shiny plum colored Benz.
"What the?" I looked around, by default it had to be for me I just wasn't sure who and where it came from. Bonnie's Prius wasn't even this new. I walked up to it and the doors were unlocked, I climbed inside and popped open the glove compartment, the keys, title & registration all sat inside.
I let out a squeal when I noticed the title and registration both had my name on it.
"I take it you went outside?" A voice said, I looked at my phone completely forgetting I'd called Kol.
"Did you do this?" I asked shocked. Damn my coochie got me a Mercedes."Why?"
"Nik mentioned something about a ghost crashing your car, it was originally for Bekah but we don't know how to drive yet." Kol explained. I put the key into the ignition and had to bite my lip to stop from squealing again as the engine came to life."I take it you like it?"
"Yes, yes I do." I smiled even though I knew he couldn't see it. This was definitely the start of a beautiful relationship everybody else can get fucked with a cactus."Thank you this is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me."
"A woman of your beauty should be spoiled, when I figure out where I'm going I'd like for you to join me."
"Sure." I replied without even thinking about it, it was reckless on my part for agreeing and even more reckless that I think I really did want to."Abby's gonna transition, so Bonnie & I are gonna stay with her for a bit but afterwards, I'm all yours."
"Amazing, try to stay alive until then?"
"Dying does sound fun." I teased as we hung up. I started up the car and drove to Caroline's, Bonnie & Mom should be ready to go. The sooner we got this all situated the sooner we could figure out where to go from here, because yes the transition is a big deal but neither of us know if Abby intended on sticking around or not.
"So you just woke up and there was a Mercedes in your name parked outside?" Abby asked, as the four of us walked inside her house. Caroline decided to tag along at the last second to help with teaching Abby control.
"Yup."
"Sounds like how I woke up and there was a dress on my porch." Caroline teased, I glared at her because I could've played dumb a lot longer if she didn't say that. Somebody would connect the dots pretty quickly now.
"Does it?" I asked, I sat down on the couch with Abby she'd fed before we left and Bonnie had already made her a daylight ring. She looked like she was handling it well so far. I scooped my hair up and pulled it into a ponytail.
"Oh my god is that a hickey?" Bonnie asked, I instinctively slapped the back of my neck. It was a bit more than a hickey, definitely a bite mark and I'd completely forgotten about it.
"Mosquito bite." I smiled innocently. Bonnie tried to pull my hand off it but I popped her hand and let my hair back down."So mom, where's Jamie?"
"With a friend, I don't want to risk hurting him." She explained, I pouted I was actually pretty interested in getting to know our "step brother". I was curious if he shared any of Bonnie or I's quirks or traits.
"I'd like to hang out with him one day, I just wanna see how much he has in common with us."
"That sounds nice." Abby smiled back at me. She was going to make a good vampire whether she knew it or not. She was new but I didn't feel any fear with her, I think being a witch had something to do with it but I wasn't sure.
"What's going on back home?" Bonnie asked; She knew if any of us were in the loop it was definitely Caroline. I had zero desire to talk to either Salvatore and Elena is Elena.
Caroline came from the kitchen my guess she was stocking the fridge with blood bags, she looked at us and shrugged.
"Where do I start? Alaric's in jail they think he's the one who attacked my Dad." Caroline said, I gasped and Bonnie shook her head not wanting to believe that.
"But he was attacked too?"
"Could've been self-inflicted." I commented, neither girl looked like they wanted to accept that.
"I'm gonna go lay down." Abby said getting up from the couch."You can make yourself at home." She headed upstairs leaving the three of us downstairs.
"Let's go for a walk?" I suggested, Bonnie & Caroline nodded as Bonnie pushed the front door open, I couldn't help but swoon for a second at my pretty car out front.
"Are we really not gonna talk about the car?" Caroline asked as we walked passed it.
"Or the hickey."
"Fine." I frowned might as well just go ahead and rip off the bandaid early.
"The anticipation is killing me." Bonnie teased, I pushed her lightly and laughed.
"I think the car is technically from the Mikealson's. Kol said it was originally for Rebekah." I explained, they stared wide eyed for a second."The hickey I'm taking to my grave."
"You tease." Caroline pouted." Can you tell us atleast if you got laid?"
"It's on the back of her neck, she clearly did." Bonnie answered, I was actually taken aback by Bonnie being curious.
"Speaking of getting laid, where has Tyler been?" I asked and man was my wording so damn awkward because Bonnie looked at me like I said the absolute worst possible thing.
"He's working on the sirebond thing and helping others." Caroline replied sadly."I haven't really spoke to him since he left."
"He sucks."
"Yes, yes he does." Bonnie agreed, we spent some time walking around for a bit longer before Bonnie & Caroline decided to head back to check on Abby. I went to my car and decided to drive to town to grab food.
I had a craving for pizza extra greasy and fatty for sure but I'm sure the girls would like Salads too. My phone rang as I was leaving the pizza place, I put the phone on speaker as I got everything situated on the passenger seat.
"Hello?"
"Alicia, where are you you wanker?" Rebekah asked, I scoffed playfully at her tone. The girl was clearly bored.
"Helping my mom since your mom got her killed." I answered in the exact same tone.
"Oh. I guess I'll just find somebody else to tag along with me."
"I can help you when I get back?" I offered starting up the car.
"I'm hoping to have it sorted out by then."
"There will be other shenanigans." I shrugged, a small smile spread across my face."So I'm driving your car."
"My car?"
"The purple Mercedes." I specified, the awkward silence on the other end meant Rebekah had no idea what I was talking about.
"I've never had a purple anything."
"That is awkward. So I take it, it's just from Kol?" I asked even though Rebekah clearly wouldn't know.
"It must be." She replied, I could hear a voice in the background it sounded like Nik."I've gotta go, do try to hurry back."
"I'll try."
I was a bit taken aback by Rebekah not knowing a thing about the car, maybe it was just Klaus & Kol's doing then ? I was really curious because if it was simply just an impulse thing on Kol's end then my coochie might've really gotten me a Benz.
I parked the car back where I originally had it and knocked on the front door, I was surprised to see Jamie was the one who answered it.
"Hey? I thought Abby wanted you to keep some distance?"
"She did but I trust her." Jamie shrugged taking the food from my hands and holding the door for me. I walked inside and Caroline was in the living room watching TV. Bonnie & Abby were in the kitchen. I followed Jamie to the kitchen as he sat the food down.
"How you feeling?" I asked, Abby rubbed her temples and frowned.
"My heads been ringing since I woke up." She complained."My mouth hurts but I'm alive right?"
"Yeah, any cravings? Do you feel the need to feed?" I asked, Abby held up her half empty blood bag.
It was strange this wasn't what either of us imagined, we finally meet our mom and she's almost immediately killed and turned into a vampire. That sounds like shit that only happens to the Bennetts.
The only bright side to this whole situation was Abby literally had the rest of our lives to fix our relationship and I was absolutely looking forward to it.
"You know I think we should address the elephant in the room." Bonnie said, Abby put down her blood bag and the four of us sat down at the table.
"What do you two want to do?" Abby asked, she placed her hand on Jamie's shoulder it was hesitant but she did it.
"I want to get to know you both, the idea of having a mom and a big brother is actually kind of nice." I smiled, Abby smiled back her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
"I think so too." Bonnie agreed, Abby jumped up from the table and pulled us into a tight bear hug. Jamie had to clear his throat to get her to loosen her grip because it looked tight even on the outside.
"I'm so happy you two want to get to know me." Abby cried, I felt my eyes tear up. We had a rocky start but I think things should go swimmingly for us from here on out.
"I don't know why you're standing over there." I held my arm out for Jamie to join in. I felt more included right now than I ever did at home and I hated it so much.
We all went into the living room and joined Caroline watching jersey shore, it was absolutely perfect. We truly felt like a misfit family.
One by one we headed off to bed, Jamie took the couch and Caroline, Bonnie & I took his room. If we were able to have more nights like this then I don't think I'd want to go back home.
The next morning I woke up first, I crept out of the bedroom and headed downstairs the couch was empty which meant Jamie was also up. I noticed the front door was open and headed outside not too far away the boy was chopping wood.
"Hey." I called out jogging up to him. While he had looked fine last night he now looked like his mind was moving a mile a minute.
"I didn't think anybody was up." He replied setting his axe down.
"You weren't wrong, I'm the first up." I shoved my hands into my pockets, Jamie sighed. For the first time since he'd gotten here it seemed his cool demeanor was starting to slip."Everything okay?"
"It's just how do you get use to vampires?" He asked, he looked a lot less confident and more weary than before."She looks like Abby, she acts like Abby but she's a vampire."
"Being a vampire doesn't have to change who she is. She's still Abby." I forced a smile, she may have abandoned us but she definitely didn't deserve to die.
"I want to believe you but."
"It's hard, I know, but we'll deal with it together. I meant it when I said I liked the idea of having a brother. You can beat up boys who hurt my feelings." I joked he let out a chuckle and his demeanor was a bit less rigid.
"Wanna help me make breakfast since we have company?" Jamie asked, I nodded the two of us turned and went back inside the house after washing our hands we got right to work cooking.
It was nice I was able to banter and bicker with Jamie as if I'd known him my whole life like Bonnie. By the time we finished the rest of the house was up and downstairs. I laid out 5 plates and started piling food onto each plate.
"We had sibling time." I shrugged when Abby walked in, she gave me a small smile and sat down. She wasn't really interested in her food and started picking at it. I knew she didn't need to eat but I noticed Caroline & everyone else kind of did it anyway. Bonnie & Caroline joined us, I made sure to place myself in between Abby & Jamie in case he was still worried.
"You made all this?" Caroline asked motioning to the mountain of pancakes, eggs & bacon." Whoever gave you some needs to give you some more often."
I pinched the bridge of my nose and blushed."My mother is right there, and we were bored so we cooked."
"Sorry." Caroline blushed looking at Abby who looked like she didn't even notice. I heard my phone ringing and excused myself, I'd left it in my room when I went and found Jamie.
I answered the phone, not really surprised Elena was calling me. Bonnie wasn't answering and they seemed to always need a witch. The odds of it only being two witches in the entire town sounded ridiculous.
"What do you want Elena?"
"Hello to you too." Elena replied she sounded slightly sarcastic which she shouldn't be since I'm definitely doing her a favor by even answering the phone right now.
"Hello Elena, what can I do for you?" I asked again a bit more gently.
"We think Alaric's ring is making him crazy, is there any way you can look into it? Find a way to stop it?" Elena asked, I snorted because it made sense, a ring that allowed you to cheat death should definitely have consequences and I'm kicking myself for not realizing it sooner.
"I can try and contact Emily but knowing her she did that on purpose." I replied, Elena let out a frustrated sigh. I felt bad for her, her parents were dead. Both biological & adopted. Her Aunt was dead. She didn't need to lose another guardian." I can't make any promises but I'll see what I can do."
"Thank you." Elena replied, we both hung up and I headed back inside the house scooping up as many candles as I could find along the way.
"What are you doing?" Abby asked appearing behind me in the doorway, I laid the candles down on the floor and turned around.
"You wouldn't happen to be familiar with the Gilbert rings would you? John & Grayson had one it apparently brought the person wearing it back to life -." I explained but Abby cut me off.
"If they were killed by a supernatural, yes I'm aware of it."
"I'm gonna try and contact Emily and see if she can tell me anything, apparently dying too many times makes you crazy." I replied setting the candles up in a circle and taking a seat in the middle of them.
"Jeremy?" Mom asked covering her mouth."I think I have a spell in my grimore that could help, I imagine it's like purging dark magic."
"Not Jeremy, but Elena's stepdad? You did say Miranda was your best friend." I replied hoping I didn't need to explain too much, I feel like since she went all gunghoe for and ditched her own kids just because they were best friends. She should at least know that.
"Right." She hummed rocking back and forth on her heels." You contact Emily & I'm gonna see if I can find that spell, do you need anybody to help?"
"I think I'm good." I replied, lighting up the candles, I crossed my legs and closed my eyes. I clutched my talisman for an extra boost as I called out to Emily in my head.
"You know there are other Bennett witches you can call, Alicia?" Emily asked, I opened up my eyes and smiled broadly at the woman standing in front of me.
"Well you won't let us call Gramm's and the other witches are kinda cunty." I replied shrugging, Emily cracked a small smile but it was gone quickly."And besides the rest of them didn't invent the Gilbert rings."
"When I enchanted them I couldn't warn them of the consequences the ring wear would have." She replied, I think she wanted to be sad but the way things played out, they got exactly what they deserved.
"Is there anyway to fix it?"
"No, everytime the person dies they lose a part of their soul. Cheating death is unnatural." Emily said, I frowned that made perfect sense if you were a witch."My advice to you is to destroy them."
"Great."
I sighed as the candles blew out just as the door opened back up, leave it to Emily to dip out as soon as the vampire came into the room.
"How'd it go?"
"Emily says there's nothing we can do, but I still want to try your spell. It might not stop it but it could help a bit." I stood up from the floor and dusted my shorts off.
"Okay, take Bonnie." Abby said handing me the grimore, she didn't have to say a thing because I could sense the page I needed." Strength in numbers."
"Thank you." I pulled Abby into a hug, she was trying to be helpful and I actually appreciated her for it.
"Alicia." Abby said, but I didn't pay it any mind. I let out a shriek as I felt her teeth tear into my neck. This didn't feel anything like when Kol bit me, I was in excruciating pain until it suddenly stopped Abby was on the floor clutching her head.
I put my hand over my neck and mumbled the incantation wincing as the wound slowly stitched itself back together.
"Are you okay?" Bonnie rushed over to me, my tank top was definitely ruined but other than that I was fine.
"Yeah, she tried to warn me but I didn't realize." I said pulling my hand away from my neck, I walked out of the room and into the bathroom. It was probably better that I clean the blood up before standing next to Abby some more.
I peeled my tank top off and cleaned up the blood as quickly as I could, I balled the shirt up and tossed it into the trash can. I grabbed a towel from the bathroom and headed back to the room, grabbing a fresh tank top I turned my back to the two of them and pulled it on.
I'm sorry, I tried to fight it." Abby whimpered, I started to pull her into another hug but stopped myself." I could've killed you if it wasn't for Bonnie."
"But you didn't, I'm fine." I pointed at my neck and smiled, sure I used magic but I was still standing.
"I should go, what if I hurt you guys? Or Jamie?" She asked, she was hysterical which was perfectly normal. My ego was bruised but I certainly didn't blame her.
"If you leave us again you'll hurt us." Bonnie replied, she noticed the grimore on the floor and bent down to pick it up."What's all this?" She motioned to the candles on the floor.
"I'm gonna head back to help Alaric, Abby thinks you should come too." I explained, Bonnie looked like she really didn't want to do it."We're coming straight back here."
"Okay, let me see what we need and I'll call Elena." Bonnie said, I took the book from her and opened it up to the spell I passed it back and she nodded walking out the room.
"And you're sure you're okay?" Mom asked, I noticed once Bonnie left she put as much distance between the two of us as she could.
"I'm fine. I swear." I smiled at her, I rather she lost control with me and not Bonnie or Jamie. Jamie clearly needed to come around to her being a vampire and Bonnie simply would spend time dwelling on it, I knew she didn't mean it and could just brush it off.
"I'm gonna go." Mom sprinted from the room, I felt horrible for her but there was nothing I could do. I scoped the candles up from the floor and sat them on top of the dresser, I changed out of my shorts into a pair of leggings and grabbed my jacket.
The quicker we get to Mystic Falls, the quicker we can get out of it. When I was slipping on my boots, Bonnie was coming back into the room she had a box in her hands. She grabbed a change of clothes and quickly changed.
"The hell is that?" I asked lifting the flap to get a look at it.
"Herbs that should help, Abby packed it for me." She explained putting on her shoes, I grabbed my car keys from the dresser and the two of us rushed out the house.
Bonnie met up with Elena and grabbed Alaric's wedding ring from her, apparently we needed a personal object to do the spell. Which I thought was odd, it seemed like it made more sense to purge the magic directly from him but whatever.
We pulled up in front of Elena's house and the brunette jumped out the car first, I raised an eyebrow since she was definitely the most useless here.
I parked my car in her driveway and Bonnie grabbed the box of herbs from the backseat. We climbed out the car and Bonnie gave me a weird look.
"What's wrong?"
"Do you think any of this will help?" She asked I guess the spell felt like bullshit to her too.
"Emily says no, but we can hope right?" I forced a small smile for her, she didn't say anything else as we went inside the house. Elena was in the kitchen so Bonnie went off in that direction, I went upstairs following a trail of blood that I would definitely get started on cleaning up.
Meredith opened up the bathroom door, she had bloody paper towels in her hand and had what looked like it should've been a nasty gash on her stomach.
"Jesus are you okay?" I asked, the brunette looked at me tiredly and nodded.
"Yeah, just cleaning up my own blood."
"I'm gonna grab you a fresh shirt from Elena's room." I pushed open the bedroom door and pulled a tank top out of one of the drawers I headed back out into the hallway and gave it to Meredith, I took the wad of soiled paper towels from her and shoved them into the bag on Elena's door.
"Can you guys help him?" Meredith asked coming out the bathroom, she had the roll of paper towels in her hands along with a jug of bleach. The two of us got to work cleaning up the stairs.
"I hope so." I replied, I didn't want to flat out say no but I knew the woman needed a bit of hope."Bonnie's got some sort of herbal remedy he should take everyday."
"Herbal remedies don't work, Ima doctor." Meredith snorted, I bit my lip yeah of course she would say that.
"Witchy herbs, I don't think you've got a degree in those."
"Touché."
Bonnie & I got in the car to drive back to North Carolina when Caroline called, I had a bad feeling about it so I answered on the first ring. We were barely down the street when Caroline told us literally the last thing either of us wanted to hear.
"Your mom bailed again."
