Heart Of Darkness

When I walked out of the airport I was mildly irritated. It was actually colder here than it was in Mystic Falls and I loathed being cold. I pulled my hoodie tighter around my body as I went searching for the Original. He knew I was here but I had to be mindful that he played just as many games as I did.

He was much too old for hide and seek and I was not above cheating, I used my magic to search for him and smiled wickedly as I caught some very strong dark magic just around the corner.

"Sorry Darling." Kol teased, I had just rounded the corner and he popped up right behind me. I pouted as I turned on my heel. This felt absolutely weird. I was in a different state with an Original vampire completely of my free will.

"You cheated."

"Cheating is such a strong word, you just happened to be bathed in so much perfume you were easy to find." He stared down at me making me blush, I'm really not much of a blusher but I couldn't help it around him. The sexual tension was very strong.

"But I'm sure I smell absolutely delicious." I teased as Kol took my duffle bag from my hands and the two of us started to walk outside toward his waiting car, that I'm absolutely sure he didn't know how to drive.

"You taste even better." He grinned cheekily, I spotted his car and laughed. It looked the exact same as mine except it was black.

"So I heard from a little birdie that shiny car in my driveway was all you." I smiled looking over at him, he had the ghost of a smile on his face. If I knew Kol was this sweet, I wouldve undaggered him myself back in chicago.

"Dammit Nik." He mumbled opening the passenger door for me, I climbed in while he flashed over to the driver side and jumped in. He placed my bag down on the backseat and chuckled as I clicked my seatbelt on.

"I'm not immortal." I scoffed tightening it up as much as I could, that was just my fancy way of saying he was definitely gonna kill me on the way to wherever we were going.

"If you weren't a very powerful witch, we would change that." He replied casually, I raised an eyebrow even if I was a human. I didn't want to become a vampire at least not so young, I can't imagine getting carded for all of eternity no thank you.

"Unless I could somehow become an original vampire or a witch-Vamp hybrid, I'll pass." I shrugged it seemed like being a normal vampire wasn't super great, they did still die from a decent amount of inconveniences.

"You've got high standards, that's fair." He replied turning on the car, I flinched violently as the vehicle came on. Kol chuckled at my obvious fear and straight up smashed the peddle to the floor as far as it would go. We zipped off with me screeching the entire time.

We pulled over in front of a cute little house, I leapt from the car and to the ground happy to be safe and sound on my own two feet.

"It wasn't that bad, dont be so dramatic." He grabbed my bag and climbed out the car, I fell into step behind him as he unlocked the front door. I looked around the place clearly belonging to a woman. The bright colors and flowers were a dead give away.

"Who's the poor lady you compelled for this place?" I asked, strolling over to the coffee table in front of the couch there was a picture of an older woman holding a small brown haired little boy.

"Oh my grandmother." He replied, I put the picture down and turned around clearly confused."I needed a cover story, I'm staying with my granny"

"Why would you need a cover story? You look at least 19, that's old enough to be alone." I started to feel alarmed. Maybe I should have asked more questions before I agreed to come out here. I really have no idea what I'm getting myself into right now. But for some reason I still didn't feel like I was in danger.

"It's nothing you need to be concerned about." He replied swiftly, I sighed in relief and grabbed my bag from Kol's hands.

"Show me to my room?"

I knew exactly what I expected when Kol showed me to what was clearly his room, the random gaming set up and messy room wasn't what you'd see in your typical granny's house. I plopped my bag down the nightstand and sat down on the bed. I was able to sleep a good amount on the flight when there wasn't turbulence or a bad ass kid kicking the back of my seat.

"Tired?" Kol asked straightening out the bed as much as he could with me sitting on it."I was gonna head out to meet some friends, text me when you wake up and I'll be back."

"With food?"

"Granny's a really good cook actually, she's in her room compelled to do whatever I say." Kol replied I shivered a bit knowing exactly what that meant but decided not to comment on it, I'm sure Granny would rather be compelled than dead.

"Oooh, have her bake me some chocolate chip cookies."

"Done, see you later."

Kol left out closing the door behind him, I reached into my duffle bag and pulled out something tiny and racy to sleep in. What? I didn't fly all the way out here to Granny's homecooking although I'm definitely not complaining.

I took a quick shower and laid down, I wasn't really tired so I went to find this "Granny" after tossing on one of his shirts to cover my shame, like Kol said she was in the kitchen hard at work making my cookies.

"Hello?" I called out, I was curious if Kol made her completely mindless or would she actually communicate. Was she aware of what was going on?

"Hi dear." She turned around and smiled. It was almost creepy how large and fake it looked."I thought you were sleeping."

"Couldn't sleep." I replied leaning against the counter top."Thought I'd come and check on you."

"Oh you're so sweet, my Kol always brings back the sweetest girls to meet me." She replied, I put my head down. That had to be some very deep compulsion he had her under but why. Who exactly would need to be tricked like this."Who exactly did he tell you I was?"

"His girlfriend from university."

"Hmm, what should I call you?" I asked, if I was going to be apart of this facade I might as well commit to it, I'm also going to put my foot in Rebekah's ass for not mentioning this part.

"Miss Rosa is fine, but whatever you feel comfortable with." She smiled sweetly as she popped the tray of cookie dough into the oven, she picked up the bowl and spoon and handed it right to me.

Did I look like a bowl licker? Because I definitely am a bowl licker. I ended up eating the cookie dough and sitting with Miss Rosa whether this was completely a fake personality for her or not. She was absolutely charming, literally the most adorable old lady I'd ever encountered.

When the cookies were finished baking I took half up to our room and texted Kol to let him know I was awake. I ate a few of them before turning on his Xbox. He'd just woken up so I was curious exactly what games he had.

I browsed his collection and was surprised it was pretty solid, it actually looked a lot like Jeremy's. I turned on Resident evil 4 and started to play to kill time.

I'd managed to find Ashley by the time Kol came in, I hit pause and crossed my legs making sure he could see the bright colored lace underwear I wore as I did.

"Did you have fun?" I asked putting the controller down, Kol flopped down onto the bed beside me.

"Yeah, we're going batting tomorrow you should come."

"Cool, so I have a question. How much of Granny's personality is real because she's absolutely perfect." I really hoped the old lady wasn't really one of those bitter cunty old people who acted like the world owed them something.

"She's actually that sweet, it's a shame her kids don't come around." He said, I made an Oh face it explained why Kol had chosen her, she was perfect and nobody would notice a thing until it was too late.

"You don't plan on hurting her right?"

"Am I some sort of monster?" He asked, I just stared at him technically he was but I wouldn't call him that to his face.

"Right, why exactly am I here? Where do you plan for this to go?" I asked it was random but I'd been thinking about it since the other day, did I like Kol? Absolutely. But did Kol actually like me or was I just convenient?

"We're two devilishly good looking supernatural creatures having a good time, why must you women always try to label things." He asked exasperated, I wanted to get mad but he was right, I didn't know him and he didn't know me. But that one night was amazing enough for us to end up in Miss Rosa's house in Denver.

"You're right." I leaned down and planted my lips against his."You're hot, I'm hot let's have fun."

"That's the spirit." He grinned putting his arms around me, I leaned into him trying to get as close as I possibly could. Simply kissing him was intoxicating, once I started I never wanted to stop.

I woke up a few hours later and took a shower, making sure to get any random bits of blood off of my skin. I came back into the room and Kol was sitting up he'd taken over the game and was playing.

"I thought you'd be sleep much longer." Kol said, I snorted as I sat down beside him. He definitely was full of himself.

"Considering I was covered in blood and sweat." I pointed down at the towel covering my body."I'd only be able to sleep like that for so long."

"You were rather disgusting."

"Let's not act like you didn't like it." I smirked, leaning my head on his shoulder."So tell me about yourself?"

"What do you want to know, Darling?" He asked turning away from the game to face me. I blushed under his gaze.

"Tell me about you as a witch, Elijah mentioned you were the only one to tap into your magic." I said, Kol grinned if he loved witches as much as I'd heard then he'd definitely enjoy telling me about his own witch days.

"It was amazing, I'd give anything to have it back. I was a bit of a prodigy." He explained, I tilted my head and looked up at him.

"What was your favorite spell. I know you had one." I asked making myself invisible may have been my absolute favorite spell so I know he had one too.

"When Bekah was upset, which was all the time. I use to make the leaves and flower petals float around her. It was the first spell my Mother taught me." He explained, I leaned away from him and smiled grabbing one of the pillows. I ripped it open and tossed a bit of the feathers onto him.

"That's actually adorable, it was the first spell I learned too." I folded my legs and scooted back some motioning for him to do the same, I reached out and took his hands.

I closed my eyes and mumbled under my breath as the feathers started to float all around the room. It took me back to when Gramm's & I first showed Bonnie how to do the spell, she caused a tornado and ruined the entire thing.

"You know it's actually much hotter when you do it."He said. I opened my eyes and grinned, Kol was staring at me as if I was the most amazing thing in the entire world. And I loved it so much.

"No, I think it would've been hotter when you did it." I leaned over and kissed Kol again; I'm not sure if I was rebounding or if I just that into him. I couldn't keep my hands off him.

We ended up going one more time before we both fell back to sleep. I woke up pretty late this time much to Kol's enjoyment. We took a shower together before I went and got dressed, this time I was mindful to actually put on a jacket.

Kol let me drive to the batting cage he just made sure to give me turn by turn directions. I parked and we got out, I didn't see any other cars so we got here before Kol's friends.

"Have you ever batted before?" I asked as we walked toward where the bats were stored.

"Nope, have you?"

"Nope." I replied, Kol grabbed the heavy aluminum bat and I grabbed the smaller lightweight wooden bat. We went over to the base and he hit the button which started to send the balls out.

I tried to hit a few balls but I ended up missing each ball, I pouted as I stepped to the side and let Kol have a try at it, and just like with everything else his family did he was perfect at it.

"My friends are here let's go." Kol said, I dropped my bat and he put his arm around my shoulder. I got a bad feeling as we got closer to the entrance.

"Please tell me you aren't setting me up."

"Just go with it, Darling." He whispered back, I swallowed hard and nodded. I think we saw each other at the exact same moment because Elena & I both paled.

"Jer!" She called out alarmed."Damon, it's Kol!" Before Damon could even react Kol cracked him across the face with his bat. I backed away confused as hell.

"What are you doing?" Jeremy asked he had to be just as confused as I was right now."Why is Alicia with you?" He started to go toward us but Elena stopped him.

"Jeremy get back he's an original."

"What?" Jeremy asked incredulously, maybe compelling him was a shitty idea. I should've known something was up. I was more mad at myself for not asking more questions.

"No hard feelings but we were never buds." Kol says he readies his bat to swing again but Damon stabbed him through the heart with the bat I'd dropped.

"Did you kill him?" Jeremy asked staring down at Kol's body. I was still frozen in place. I had zero idea what to do.

"No but it'll give us a head start." Damon said he took one look at me and grabbed Elena. Jeremy & I stared at each other sadly as they left. I ran my fingers through my hair and kicked the gate. My secret was out, and I definitely am gonna be right back out of the loop with everything.

Elena's gonna tell Bonnie & Caroline who'll put together in two seconds that Kol's the mystery guy. I had all my stuff at Kol's and there's no way they'd want me to with them so I just waited. I pulled the bat out of Kol and sat down beside him, I was seething but there wasn't shit I could do. Fight him? I'll die. Yell at him? He wouldn't care.

I pulled out my phone and confessed to Bonnie exactly what I was doing. No reason to let Elena tell her and make it worse.

She was definitely disappointed but she wasn't as judgey as I expected her to be. I jumped when Kol took a deep breath and sat up, I stood up and crossed my arms annoyed.

"Oh Darling, you're still here." Kol grinned, he had one of those smiles that make you forget you were angry. God this was gonna be hard."I thought you would've run off with your friends."

"I thought about it, but seeing me with you made that a bad idea." I shrugged. I held my hand out to him and helped him to his feet. His shirt was ruined but it could be hidden with his jacket.

"If it makes a difference my time with you was real. But it's probably best you get out of here." He replied, I pushed my lips together and nodded."I'll take you back to grab your things then drop you off."

"No, that's a terrible idea. If they were willing to leave me with you when I was clearly just as confused as everybody else then my safety doesn't matter to them." I replied reaching over and zipping Kol's jacket to hide the stab wound.

"Since you know what I'm doing I need you to do something for me." He replied, my heart dropped because I knew this would happen.

"You want a spell." I frowned it would always be somebody wanting a spell.

"No, I just need you not to freeze up like that again. It's very distracting when I'm fighting." He replied, slipping his arm around my waist, I relaxed a bit. My biggest fear when dealing with guys is being used, the last thing I wanted was to have a meltdown because my feelings were hurt.

"You could've warned me." I shot back as we headed back to the car, I unlocked the doors and tossed the keys to Kol. He effortlessly caught them and the two of us climbed inside.

"I'm gonna call Nik." Kol said dialing the number, it rang for a few seconds before Klaus picked up. I frowned, pulling out my phone.

Uh? Bonnie says you're with Kol?

Is he the mystery guy?

I'm not judging you, was it any good?

I bet it was - Caroline

I snorted and shoved my phone into my pocket, I did not feel like having this conversation right now. On the bright side I was able to get ahead of the whole thing before Elena & Damon could.

"Hello Nik, I had a run in with the doppleganger. They took little Gilbert and ran." Kol explained I glanced over at him and he winked at me as he put the car into drive.

"That's fine, I need you to track somebody down before they do." Klaus replied, I raised an eyebrow I assumed they'd only come out here to get Jeremy who else could they possibly know out here.

"Who?"

"You remember Mary Porter? They're trying to find out who they come from. So you understand why we don't need them finding out, brother?" He asked, I raised an eyebrow. They hadn't told Kol that very important detail yet?

"Ah the original groupie, don't worry I'll find her. I've got a rather beautiful witch with me." Kol said, I scoffed while Klaus chuckled.

"Little witch. I'm sure he's keeping you very much entertained."

"Guilty." I laughed.

"Keep her safe Kol." Klaus warned before hanging up. We drove to a McDonald's and got food before sitting in the parking lot.

"So this Mary Porter?" I asked taking a sip of my coke. I was curious what exactly being an Original groupie meant because I was definitely called that at one point.

"She got around, we all experimented with her." Kol answered honestly. I choked on my drink and coughed to cover it up.

"I respect the honesty." I said putting a few fries in my mouth."Do you need me to find Mary or do you know where she is?"

"I have an idea. That's why I'm feeding you now." Kol replied opening the passenger door for me."Us vampires are creatures of habit, I'm sure she's still in Kansas."

"So let's go." I climbed inside the car, Kol closed the door for me and went around to the drivers side."Are you gonna kill her?"

"I am, I need a bat first." He replied cheekily, we ended up stopping at a Dick's before driving straight to Mary's house. We needed to get there before Damon & Elena did.

I was less frightened by Kol's driving and more impressed for him to have not driven until recently he was actually pretty decent at it.

When we got to Mary's house Kol got out first, he wasn't sure if Mary would try and hurt me immediately. He knocked on the door and a gorgeous woman answered it, she immediately through herself into his arms and planted a sloppy kiss on him.

I turned my head to keep me from accidentally frying her brain. Was I jealous? This is why casual sex is a terrible idea. I literally wanted to stake a vampire right now over a man that wasn't mine. I should've taken my ass home like he suggested.

I waited five minutes like Kol suggested before getting out the car, I slammed the door harder than necessary but I was definitely angry. I tossed the front door open and used my magic to find Kol, the house was like hoarders on steroids. Was I really jealous of this woman?

The two of them were in the bedroom talking most likely to keep Mary from noticing my entrance. She had her hands in Kol's hair and was making eyes at him. We didn't need Mary for any thing so I didn't hesitate when I used my magic and lobbed the bat straight through her heart it dramatically pinned her to the wall in the process.

"Now was that necessary?" Kol asked as I sat down on the woman's bed. It wasn't necessary but I was annoyed.

"She was all over you." I shrugged, crossing my legs underneath me."I didn't like that."

"Careful love, sounds like your jealous." He grinned cheekily, he held his fingers up to his lips and grabbed me flashing me to a different part of the house.

"Mutus." I mumbled, we were in a tiny closet he had my back pressed to his chest with his arms around my waist. I spun myself around so we were face to face."What is it?"

"Your friends just got here." He replied lowly, I nodded as he listened to them moving around the house.

"What are you gonna do?"

"Get even? Damon bruised my ego killing me in front of my little witch." He purred, I leaned up and pecked him on the lips. Sure Klaus referred to me as Little Witch but hearing Kol call me his Little Witch just felt different.

"I'll stay here just come get me when your done." I said, Kol nodded and quietly slipped out of the closet. The screaming started almost immediately before it quieted down.

The closet door opened back up and Kol flashed us out of there and to the car. We drove back to Denver to the house and Kol reported back to Klaus letting him know that Mary was dead and they'd never be able to find out a thing.

I personally feel like for the sake of irony that every single person was from Klaus' sireline making them look even stupider for trying to kill him and the amount of time they spent trying to accomplish it.

I showered and changed. I felt like I was covered in centuries old dust and did not appreciate it. Miss Rosa had made burgers and fries which I happily grabbed two servings of and went back upstairs. I flopped down in the computer chair and silently started eating, there definitely was a sense of awkwardness in the room.

Kol sat on the bed playing video games, maybe I was the only one who felt awkward.

"Something bothering you?"

"No? Maybe? I don't know." I frowned, sliding my fries around on my plate."Was I too much earlier?"

"Regardless of what you did, she was going to die either way." He replied. I put a fry in my mouth and shrugged. I felt very self conscious right now. I'd agreed we were both just having fun and here I was jealous enough to commit a murder.

"I've just never been that jealous before." I confessed, shoving the plate away from me, I spun the chair around away from the desk and faced Kol."Literally when I saw Caroline & Tyler together I just broke some windows. I literally stabbed her."

"You've had a taste of Kol Mikealson, it happens." He replied shrugging it off, maybe I was in way too deep." You're thinking way too deep into it, Mary had to die let it go."

"No, I- we need to stop." I stuttered standing up and shoveling my clothing into my bag."You were right, I'm gonna go."

"Alicia, relax." He paused the game and sat the controller down. He took my duffle bag from me and sat it down behind him. I was literally freaking the fuck out, I needed to distance myself from all of them.

I'm morally not a good witch.

"No. You wanted me to leave, I'm gonna leave." I insisted reaching for my bag but he blocked my hand."Kol let me go."

"Your flight isn't until tomorrow where are you gonna go?"

"A hotel I don't know." I tried for my bag again but he blocked my hand once again. I was starting to get frustrated, I just wanted to go somewhere and clear my head.

"I'll sleep in the other room." Kol grabbed both my hands, I stared up at him with a mixture of annoyance and lust.

"Fine, just get off of me please."

"Are you even sure that's what you want, Darling?" Kol asked, and I cracked. I already knew my dumbass was in too deep so what's one more time?
