Before Sunset
I woke up in the Salvatore crypt and felt like shit. My hand quickly went up to my neck, it was covered in what felt like dry crust. I held my hand up in front of my face and let out a loud shriek when I noticed it was covered in blood.
I started to panic when last night came back to me, I saw Esther's ghost. If im here then she got what she wanted. There is no sight of Alaric anywhere. I feel around for my phone hoping drugged me was smart enough to grab it but I didn't. I was barefooted, half dressed and a bloody mess. I couldn't walk back home like this. It was literally a terrible idea.
"Fuck!" I yelled I was so angry I blew up the rest of the grave Esther had tossed me into yesterday. I cringed when I saw the skull go flying."Sorry random Salvatore number one."
I took a deep breath and calmed myself down, I could astral project to somebody and have them come get me. I needed yet another shower to get blood off me. I sat down on the floor, crossed my legs and took a deep breath.
I needed to calm myself down and focus. When I opened my eyes I was standing in front of Damon who was nursing a bottle of bourbon.
"Ah! Alicia what the hell!" Damon jumped slamming the bottle down on the table beside him."Knock or something."
"Why did I pick you?" I scoffed, I knew exactly why I picked him. It was his family crypt and I knew he had ladies clothing laying around somewhere." I need your help."
"Oh is Kol busy?"
"Considering he's miles away and isn't any help to me right now." I hissed, I'm literally dirty and bloody in Astral form and Damon isn't thinking anything weird about this.
"I'm pretty sure Alaric completed his transition, I woke up in your family's tomb covered in blood. So please bring me some clothes and come get me."
"You've gotta be joking." Damon whined he looked like he just now noticed my disheveled appearance and frowned."That explains why you snapped my neck last night."
"I did what?" I screeched, Esther had completely violated my free will. I was willing to just be moderately pissed about letting me be fed from but she used my powers to snap Damon's neck? Only I was allowed to snap Damon's neck.
"I thought you looked kinda sleepwalkery." Damon replied, he turned to his closet and pulled out a random dress.
"Please hurry." I begged, I opened my eyes and frowned. I was tempted to kill myself just so I could kick Esther's ass on the other side. I sighed in relief when Damon appeared in front of me, wordlessly he took my hand and carried me off to his house.
I took a quick shower and changed into the simple dress and pair of shoes he'd managed to find for me.
"You know we have to tell Stefan about this right?" Damon asked, I was halfway out the front door. My only concern was getting the hell out of here.
"Fine, let's go." I mumbled holding my hand up to my neck to heal the wound. The last thing I needed was getting some sort of trifling ass necro infection from passing out by a corpse.
We climbed into Damon's car and drove toward Elena's. Damon was being Damon and cracking jokes while I just stared out the window, I felt a different type of bothered by what Esther did.
She could've used Bonnie who was the much more willing participant but she went for me. When I died, I was gonna tear her ass up.
When we finally got to Elena's house, I hopped out the car first and jogged up the steps. By the time I raised my hand to knock Damon was standing beside me. Stefan opens the door and stared at the two of us confused.
I'm pretty sure he was macking on Elena and was upset Damon & I cockblocked him unintentionally but we've got more important things at stake here.
"We have a problem." Damon says, wordlessly Stefan steps out the way and let's the both of us in. I wrinkled my nose at the smell of fresh paint, it was an odd thing to do the night after somebody died but to each it's own.
The three of us went to the kitchen, I went right into the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. I was parched and the only beverages at the Salvatore house were blood and bourbon. I didn't need either of those things.
"So Alaric turned." Damon said as I took a huge swing from my water bottle. Stefan scrunched his face up clearly confused which I understand because Damon & I were confused too.
"What do you mean he turned? I thought you were standing guard." Stefan said, I shifted from side to side awkwardly and that slight movement caught Stefan's attention. His face went from confused to almost as if he was accusing me.
"Don't blame me, blame Alicia the blood bank she fed him." Damon said, I threw my hands up and sighed. Yes throw the possessed witch under the bus with a ripper.
"Don't blame me, Esther snatched my body." I hissed quickly. The last thing I needed was to die because Damon worded it poorly.
"So where's the stake now?" Stefan asked, Damon looked at me wide eyed. Sounds like a detail I wasn't supposed to know.
"What stake?" I asked looking between the two of them. Damon sighed annoyed.
"The white oak stake. The one that can kill an Original and wipe out a whole line of vampires." He replied, I palmed my forehead of course that would go missing at a time like this." We don't know."
"You guys suck."
"Alright, so how do we kill him?" Stefan asked, he was actually making some sense because if Alaric is a vampire hunter that makes him even more lethal than the standard vampire.
"I'll need Bonnie, a witch can't truly make an immortal creature there's always a way to undo the spell. We just need to find out what it is." I explained that was a lot easier said than done. I didn't know anything about the spell Esther casted and I'd need that before I could even attempt to break it down.
Thankfully we had two witchy brains and not one, it should be a lot easier once Bonnie got involved.
The doorbell rings and none of us move, mostly because we don't live here and everybody should be accounted for since I didn't involve Bonnie just yet.
I could hear the door open just before Stefan & Damon flashed out the room. Must be trouble, I head toward the front door and pause seeing Klaus standing on the other side of it.
"I'm leaving town I just need to pick up a few road trip necessities. Flashlight, spare tire, Doppelganger, Witch." Klaus says. I scrunched up my face. Did he just make a joke that involved kidnapping us?
"Can't help you there." Damon shrugged and slammed the door, I stood with my jaw dropped as Damon turned around and smirked at me. There was not a single person who could get away with disrespecting Klaus.
"Elena!" Stefan called up the steps but the brunette didn't answer. Stefan headed up the steps while Damon went back to the kitchen.
"He's gonna burn the house down." I shake my head and walk outside. Sure enough Klaus is pacing around outside holding a newspaper, of all the things he could've grabbed."Niklaus."
"Okay, I have one thing I came for now I need the other." Klaus replied as I walked down the steps and stood in front of him. Without warning he chucking the newspaper through the window the glass broke and flew everywhere.
"What the hell?"
"I'm not leaving without Elena." Klaus hissed, I flinched a bit regretting my decision to come outside.
"They've got a killing machine on the loose and you're worried about Elena? Where's your sister?" I asked in disbelief. The Originals had already lost one sibling dealing with Elena & co and Klaus didn't have Rebekah's safety in mind in the slightest.
"She'll be fine." He turned and walked toward Elena's neighbor's gate. He leaned over it and picked up a football from the ground.
"I'm gonna go find her, while you throw your hissy fit." I scoffed walking right around Klaus. He flashed in front of me and grabbed my arm with his free hand it was tight enough to stop me but not tight enough to cause any actual pain.
"If you try to run I will kill your sister."
I was moreso taken aback by the fact he felt the need to threaten me. I snatched my arm back and frowned, I needed to go home and grab my phone and car before I did anything else.
"Threaten Bonnie again and I'll hurt you." I hissed, turning on my heel and walking off down the street.I knew Klaus was a hot and cold creature but man I did not have the patience for it right now.
I counted down in my head to about 2 before I heard another loud bang. Yup. I'm sure I made Klaus' tantrum even worse and I'm not even about to deal with that. When I got home I ran straight to Bonnie's room, she was still home with Jamie thankfully.
He jumped off of her when I threw the door open but I was too pissed off to even acknowledge them.
"Alaric turned, Klaus is trying to bail with Elena & I. And we need to figure out how to undo the spell that made Alaric a vampire." I explained quickly, Bonnie jumped up from her bed alarmed.
"Jamie you should probably go."
"Yeah." I agreed, the boy got up and grabbed his things he kissed Bonnie on the lips and then gave me a quick hug before walking out Bonnie's room.
"So back up. What happened to you and why are you wearing Elena's clothes?"
"Esther took me while I was asleep and made me feed Alaric. Damon doesn't know where the stake is and I'm pretty sure we're all in danger." I explained quickly."Do we know anything about the spell?"
"Just that she needed Elena for it but she used Doppelganger blood in the original spell too." Bonnie replied. I started to respond but Bonnie paused to answer her phone, I used this opportunity to go to my room and grab my phone. I wasn't surprised to see the plethora of missed messages I had from Rebekah.
Alaric has Caroline at the school.
I loud out a deep sigh and walked back into Bonnie's room she had just got off the phone with whomever and looked just as alarmed as I did.
"Alaric has Elena & Caroline." Bonnie said.
"Of course he does, I guess we have to walk in there and witch it up?"
"Abby used a desiccation spell on Mikeal, I'm gonna see if I can find that to temporarily put down Alaric til we figure out how to kill him." Bonnie explained, I was confused if he was a vampire, a stake or decapitation should work on him just fine.
"What? We can't stake him?"
"No, he's an original vampire and apparently white oak doesn't work either." Bonnie explained, huh. Maybe I should've asked more questions.
"Fuck okay. You find the spell and meet me at the school." I said, Bonnie looked skeptical but nodded. I went back into my room, I was pissed off at Klaus but I also knew I needed some sort of way to Insure his safety. I flipped open Gramm's grimore the one I got that pain transfer spell from and found a soul transferring spell. It was a lot less difficult and seemed to be something Klaus was already familiar with, I recall Elijah calling it his favorite trick.
I snapped a picture of the spell and grabbed my car keys. I bolted down the steps and jumped into my car. I didn't waste any time before starting it up and heading to the school.
This was an awkward time to remember but I definitely was supposed to be helping clean up the dance today.
I parked my car in my usual spot and used my magic to feel around. Most likely Alaric already knew I was here I just needed to find them which shouldn't be hard.
I went right to his class room and pushed the door open, he was standing beside Elena holding the white oak stake while Caroline was pinned to a desk via pencils with a cloth in her mouth.
This girl couldn't ever catch a break.
"Alicia, nice to see you again." Alaric grinned, I rolled my eyes and started to fry his brain immediately. He doubled over in pain much to my enjoyment before slowly standing up. I started to panic when he rushed across the room and grabbed me by the throat."You're supposed to be helping me wipe them out, not trying to save them. You are a terrible witch."
"You aren't the first person to say that." I spat. I hated myself sometimes I'm literally getting the life strangled out of me and I'm still talking shit. I was pleasantly surprised when Elena busted a glass full of vervain over Alaric's head. We both fell to the ground, I struggled to catch my breath while Elena freed Caroline.
"Get help!" She yelled, Caroline didn't waste any time rushing out the room. I knew Alaric would recover before both Elena and I could escape, I grabbed the stake from the ground quickly.
"Invisique." I muttered disappearing. I slowly got up from the floor the same time Alaric grabbed Elena. I used my magic to throw him to the other side of the room before Elena & I ran off.
I sighed in relief when I spotted Klaus with Caroline. I dropped the spell and ran up to them.
Caroline looked at me relieved before turning the other way, I held the stake out to Klaus which he happily took from me and hid in his pocket.
"I guess I owe you an apology."
"Let's solve this problem and we're even." I absentmindedly rubbed my neck, Klaus moved my hand and took a look at it. I could see anger in his eyes which meant Alaric probably left an ugly handprint on me.
When we got to Alaric he'd already snapped both Stefan & Damon's necks. Klaus whooshed past me and shoved his hand into Alaric's chest squeezing his heart. It looked like we had things won until Alaric overpowered him and tossed him to the ground.
"Incendia." I mumbled setting Alaric on fire.I paled when he just shook it off.. what the fuck kind of magic did Esther use.
Alaric pulled the stake from Klaus's pocket and started to stake him. I used my magic and tried to take it from him but I couldn't pull it from his hands.
"Stop! Let him go or I'll kill myself." Elena threatened I looked up to see her holding a knife to her throat. When did she get so bad ass?
"Elena!" I called out. She shook her head no and pressed it closer to her skin.
"Put it down Elena." Alaric ordered and it clicked in my head. If he was willing to kill us all but protect Elena. She must be the way of undoing the spell.
"Why because you need me alive? There's a reason Esther used me to make you isn't there? She didn't want you to be immortal so she tied your life to a human one. Mine. That way you only have one life span to kill all vampires then you'll be gone. So when I die you die too." Elena yelled out and I clapped for her happily, she definitely did just one up Alaric and she confirmed my suspicions at the same time. You go girl.
"You're wrong." Alaric replied. Yeah that lame response surely was enough to convince us otherwise.
"Am I?" Elena asked she started to cut her throat. I jumped shocked she was actually willing to do it.
"Stop! Stop! Stop!" Alaric yelled out, Klaus broke out of his grip and grabbed Elena before grabbing me and rushing us the hell out of there.
When we got to my car he put me down, I was surprised to see Elena was passed out but then again she did cut herself. Klaus laid Elena down in the passenger seat and we both jumped into the front. I quickly pulled off.
"Drive to my house." Klaus ordered, I nodded and did as he said. The farther we got away from Alaric the better. "I have the papers at my house for you to sign also."
"Okay."
"There's also a room for you if you want it." He added, I wasn't really interested in anything he had to offer right now. I was still in shock that my magic did absolutely nothing against Alaric.
I parked in front of Klaus's and he pulled Elena out the back and brought her inside. I followed closely behind them, he laid her down on the couch and went into another room. He came back with a hybrid and surgical equipment.
"What are you doing?" I asked confused. I watched the hybrid set up an IV and start to draw blood from Elena. I used my magic to heal the wound on Elena's neck.
"Getting blood. If I can't take her then I'll just drain the blood." He explained which sounded like straight forward answer.
"Okay." I shrugged and walked farther into the house, I pulled out my phone and called Rebekah back.
"Finally! I was worried sick about you, you wanker." Rebekah cursed, I rolled my eyes and smiled.
"Im fine, im at your house right now actually. We didn't kill him but we got Elena & Caroline out safe." I explained, Rebekah let out what sounded like a sigh of a relief.
"Are you with my brother? He choose you & Elena over me." She said sadly, I frowned Rebekah literally jumped through hoops for Klaus and he didn't give two shits about it.
"I am, I'm signing paperwork so Alaric can't get into the house." I replied." I'm also about to get the hell out of here."
"Good, you could come join me. Or Kol." She said, I could tell she was smiling on the last part.
"Bye bye Rebekah." I hung up without even waiting for her to respond. I turned on my heel and headed back to the living room. Klaus was gone but Tyler was unhooking Elena. Yes that was a great idea.
"Alicia." Tyler said unhooking the last piece from Elena unfortunately it was the same moment Klaus came back into the room.
"So much for that sirebond." Klaus said he didn't really look angry no he looked curious.
"I'm not your little bitch anymore." Tyler spat. He helped Elena to her feet. I moved toward her but one look from Klaus stopped me in my tracks.
"How did you break the sirebond?" Klaus asked, I was very curious myself it was said to be nearly impossible to do.
"By breaking every bone in my body one hundred times for the woman I love." Tyler replied, I winced a bit. It actually physically hurt me to hear him say that.
"That's impossible." Klaus said taken aback. I made my way over to Elena and helped steady her. I already knew Klaus & Tyler were going to fight as a hybrid Tyler should be able to hold his own Elena was missing blood and human. She needed me more than him.
"Alicia, he's gonna kill me." Elena whispered. I looked away from her horrified, Klaus had said he was just gonna take blood. I didn't think he intended on draining every last drop of her blood.
"I gotchu."
"Is it? Or maybe real love is stronger than fake loyalty. But what would you know about that?" Tyler spat, god I didn't feel like listening to them have a spat. I just wanted to grab Elena and get the hell out of here before I hear something else I didn't need to hear.
As if on cue Klaus turned and looked at me, I already knew he was about to throw me under the bus to try and hurt Tyler. And I hated that I spent enough time around this man that one look said it before he did.
"Fake loyalty? Isn't that what you had for Alicia before you started shagging her bestfriend behind her back?" Klaus taunted, I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself down. I wanted to snap both their necks right now."It worked out for her though, she's moved onto my brother anyway. He's a much better fit for her."
"Fuck you." I spat grabbing Elena, I started to leave with her but was surprised Klaus rushed over and split us apart rather violently at that. Elena fell over and hit her head while I landed back first against the wall. That shit hurt like hell and I'm sure my back is gonna be bruised.
When we went flying Tyler attacked Klaus he didn't really stand a chance against him and Klaus quickly pinned him to the wall and had his hand in his chest.
I was in so much pain I couldn't focus on my magic and there wasn't anything I could do to intervene.
"Goodbye Tyler." Klaus said, I screamed in frustration as he started to rip his heart out. Tyler managed to grab Klaus' arm and twist it away from him. I used my magic to throw him away just as Damon & Stefan swooped in and grabbed him. Stefan shoved his hand into Klaus' chest. I knew he couldn't die that way and I didn't care what happened to him right now.
I ran over to Elena, she looked out of it a bit but other than that seemed fine.
Damon held his hand out and helped Elena up from the ground.
"Are you okay?" We both asked noticing she was holding her head. She nodded weakly and Damon scooped her up and carried her.
"You can go on without me, I have something I need to do first." I said, Damon looked at me skeptically but Tyler nodded.
"I'll stay with her."
"I'm not gonna wake him up." I insisted, Damon stared for a bit longer before disappearing with Elena. I walked upstairs to Klaus' room with Tyler following close behind me. Right on Klaus' nightstand laid the deed to the house with a pen sitting on top of it ready for me to sign.
"What are you doing?"
"You might wanna go outside. I promised Klaus' I'd sign the deed to make his house safe. I'm not signing it for him. I'm signing for Rebekah. She just needs one person to actually care about her." I explained, Tyler nodded and ran out the room. I quickly wrote my name on the paper and walked out the house, Tyler was waiting for me on the front step.
"Ready?"
"I'm ready."
