Chapter 1:

The Man Who Fell From the Sky

We open on a familiar scene, the world of Remnant, the Kingdom of Vale, Beacon Academy on the day of the Emerald Forest Trial, all the participating students have lined up for their deployment into the forest, but something is different this time. As the students line up for their deployment into the forest for their task, there is something in the air, a strange feeling that something is not quite right. Despite this feeling, it is not enough for the Headmaster of Beacon Academy, Ozpin, to call off the Trial. The students are flung into the forest, one by one, and told that they will be partners with the first person they meet. But the Headmaster does finally notice something quite peculiar in the sky, as he sees what appears to be a hole in the sky, not just in the clouds, but in the sky itself. The hole appears a window that had just had a rock thrown through it might look, as an unnatural light pours through it. The Heiress of the Schnee Dust Company is about to be launched into the forest herself, but she is caught off guard by what sounds to be an explosion, but the sound is not coming from anywhere near her, but in the sky. Before she even had a chance to react to the sudden noise, she had been flung into the forest. The Red Hooded Huntress in training, Ruby Rose, who had more time to take in the sight before she was flung, notices that the hole has begun to repair itself, and mere moments before she is launched into the forest it had completely fixed itself, as if it was never there in the first place. And as Ruby flies through the air, she notices something, a silhouette of what appears to be a person falling through the sky and subsequently crashing through the trees and disappearing from sight.

Ruby lands in the forest using her weapon, Crescent Rose, optimizing its gun mode to slow her fall by riding it and firing at the ground. She travels through the forest aimlessly until her eyes catch the sight of another person, as luck would have it, the person she saw was Weiss. Weiss immediately turns to walk away

"Hey! Where are you going?!" said Ruby,"We're supposed to be teammates." she says dejectedly.

When suddenly, her Scroll goes off and she notices Weiss has stopped in her tracks, as hers has gone off too. The two huntresses in training open theirs Scrolls to see the face of Ozpin greet them on their screens

"Ruby, Weiss" he says, " It appears you two are the group that landed closest to that object that came from the anomaly in the sky, I hereby assign you two to discover what it is before you complete your trial," and without giving the two a chance to respond, he hangs up.

"Great, first I'm stuck with you and now I have to investigate some stupid object that fell from the sky," said Weiss.

"Oh come on," said Ruby, "It'll be fun, like we're on an adventure." Weiss looks at Ruby with disdain, they receive a message on their Scrolls, a map of the area and a path for them to take to the object, Weiss walks off into the direction of where their Scrolls direct them with Ruby close in toe.

After traveling for about 10 minutes, and slaying a few Grimm along the way, they arrive to see a peculiar sight, a small group of Grimm running towards them. Ruby and Weiss ready Crescent Rose and Myrtlnaster respectively, but the Grimm run past them without attacking, as if they are running away from something.

"I have never seen anything like that, the Grimm don't usually run away from things" said Ruby with a twinge of fear in her voice.

Then as Ruby and Weiss crest through the trees, they see a large trench, 5 feet wide and 50 feet long, dug into the earth, as if dug out by a plough. And at the end of the trench, they see a group of trees broken in half, as if they were smashed in half from their trunks by an Ursai. It was then they saw what had caused the trench and the splintered trees. There was the body of a man who looked to be in his early twenties, dressed in loose pants, a pair of what appeared to be running shoes, a t-shirt, and a pair of glasses on his face. Approaching the man, Ruby and Weiss notice that he appears to be a Dragon Faunus, but apparently with three features, a pair of curved and pointed horns extending from his head, a pair of wings, and a long scaled tail with spines along the length. Ruby is horrified as she notices that the man is covered in injuries from his fall, many scales from his tail are missing, his draconic wings have holes in them, and suddenly, half of one of his curved pointed horns falls off, dribbling blood and bone marrow from it, but thankfully he's breathing. Weiss and Ruby run to the unconscious man and begin to think of what to do.

"We should take a picture and send it to the Medical staff at Beacon, they'll know what we can do to help him." Weiss says, pulling out her scroll, snapping a photo and sending it, the medical staff tell them that the most pressing injury was his broken horn, they needed to bandage his horn and stop the bleeding. Following the instructions, Ruby took a bit of cloth she had for cleaning Crescent Rose and compressed the horn, luckily this helped stop the blood flow, giving the two time to process the situation.

"Ruby, stay here and keep watch on him, I'll go make sure the area is clear." Weiss says, drawing Myrtenaster and walking into the forest.

Ruby sits next to the man, looking over to him she notices what exactly he's wearing, a small brown bag sits tied on his waist with golden threads holding it closed and a hooded jacket over his other clothes as well as a necklace of a black hammer engraved with many swirls and knots on a black chain around his neck. What was most peculiar was an emblem that was on the shoulder of his jacket she had ever seen before, a Dragon rising with wings raised, coloured what appeared to be a silverish color with blue accents along the rim of the emblem with the Dragon's eyes coloured the same color blue. On his back appeared to be two weapons, one an extremely long sword in a leather sheath and the other appeared to be a rifle made of metal and wood with a curved magazine jutting from the bottom, "Why does he have two weapons?" thought Ruby.

Looking over to the man again she sees an astonishing sight, all of his injuries had begun to slowly heal. The horn that had just fallen off had stopped bleeding and begun slowly healing, growing back the piece. The holes in his wings had begun closing, and the small, durable scales that had been missing had regrown, even more confusing was the fact that he did not feel like he had an aura, but it felt as if his body was developing one as she was looking over him, adapting to its surroundings. The man begins to stir as Weiss returns from her scouting, Weiss surprised at how quickly his wounds had closed.

The man begins to speak, "Ugh, did anyone get the number of that truck?" he says groggily.

"Oh good, you're awake" Ruby says, "We were worried about you, it looked like you took a massive fall." Ruby said.

"Well thanks for sticking by me while I was healing, what are your names?" the man asks.

"I'm Ruby and this is Weiss." Ruby says.

"Well it's nice to meet you, would you mind helping me to my feet, I'm still a bit woozy, hitting the earth at breakneck speeds tends to do that to you, I should be fine in a minute or two." said the stranger, Ruby and Weiss obliged, although it was more Ruby than it was Weiss.

The two girls got the stranger to his feet and he steadied himself tentatively, and a few seconds afterwards he appeared to have completely come back to his senses, his wings relaxing onto his shoulders and his tail curved behind him. It was at this moment that Ruby and Weiss saw that this stranger was taller than the both of them, being at least 6 feet tall

"Now that we've told you our names, I think it's time you tell us yours," said Weiss, with a bit of snippiness in her tone.

"Yeah that's fair." said the stranger, resting his wings on his shoulders and opening his eyes showed that his eyes were a piercing blue, the same as the blue on his emblem, "My name is Stone" he said, but before he could finish telling them his name he was cut off by a beeping from a device in each of the girl's pockets going off, they proceeded to pull out two small contraptions that looked like a small clips, but then they opened them to show a screen in between the two pieces.

"Those devices look like super advanced phones, I wonder if my phone works here?" Stone thought to himself.

A voice came from the devices, a voice that Stone seemed to recognize, but on the screen was a face Stone did not recognize, but Ruby and Weiss knew that it was Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon.

"Ruby, Weiss, have you located the object yet?" Ozpin said, "Yes we have," said Ruby "Only thing is that he's not just some object, he's a person, a Faunus looks like it, only he doesn't just have one animal trait, he has three." She says turning her Scroll around to show him the man. Ozpin looked surprised, "Ok, finish your trial and bring him back with you, I'd like to ask a few questions of him." Ozpin said immediately hanging up on them again.

Stone chimes in "So, you ladies are after something in these woods? What is it, do you know exactly?"

"No we don't know, all we know is we have to find a Ruin, get an artifact, and return to Beacon." Ruby replies.

"Sounds easy enough, side question: what's Beacon?"

Leaves and twigs crunch as the group consisting of Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, and now their newly acquired companion, Stone, near the location of the ruins, the group having had a very uneventful walk.

"You know, I don't you told us your full name, seeing as you got cut off by Ozpin calling us" said Ruby with a curious tone in her voice.

"Oh right," said Stone, "My full name is Stone Sherman" he said smiling, finally putting an end to Ruby's curiosity,

The two Huntressess in training keep their weapons ready to strike at anything that might oppose them, as Stone rests his sword that the girls now know is called a Claymore on his shoulder ready to bring down with all his might, with his Rifle on his back ready to be deployed for a ranged attack.

As the group near the temple, a distinct sound of gunshots and metal clanging can be heard from the direction that they are walking.

"I'm hearing the sounds of battle coming from that way," Stone says and gestures in the direction they're heading, "So I guess we're on the right track."

"Seems that way" says Weiss. As Ruby and Weiss walk, they notice that Stone has been glancing at their weapons, as if examining them with his eyes.

"Something you want to ask us?" questions Ruby, with a slight smile on her face,

"Sorry for staring, I just can't help but look at your weapons, I've never seen anything like them before, a Melee weapon combined with a firearm." Stone says with awe in his voice.

"Well these types of weapons are the norm here, so you'll be seeing them pretty much anywhere you go" said Ruby.

"If they have weapons like that here, maybe I could make one myself, but what would I make?" Stone thinks to himself, brainstorming how he would make a weapon like Ruby's Scythe or Weiss's Rapier. Cresting through the trees, the group of three see six figures near a large ruin, two men and four women, looking like they had just been through an intense battle, but strangely there were no bodies around them, this confused Stone but he went forward with Ruby and Weiss nonetheless.

"Yang!" Ruby exclaimed as she ran up and hugged one of the women that was near the temple. The woman she hugged was a tall imposing figure, with a buxom chest and golden hair, with golden bracelets to match.

"Ruby!" the woman now known as Yang replied as she got Ruby in a bear hug.

"How was your trip through the fore… wait who's that?" Yang said, pointing at the man she did not recognize.

"Oh, that's Stone, Ozpin sent us to find an object that crashed into the forest and what do you know we found him lying on the ground unconscious." Ruby replied.

"Hi" Stone said meekly, waving at the group of 6 and sheathing his sword on his back. "Ruby, I assume you have a relation to this lady here, Yang, was it?" Stone said inquisitively.

"Yep, she's my sister." Ruby replied cheerfully.

"Well it's nice to meet you Yang, and who are these people who are with you?" Stone asked, gesturing to the other 5 people.

"These are Jaune Arc and Phyrra Nikos, Nora Valkyrie and Lin Ren, and this is Blake Belladonna," Yang says, pointing at each group of two. Greetings were exchanged between the group and the apparent dragon faunus.

"Hello, it's nice to meet you", says Blake, walking to Stone and extending her hand to shake his, to which Stone returns.

"Why did you separate them into groups of two except for Blake? Seems kinda arbitrary." Stone asks, confused.

"Well it's because we're all in groups of two for the Trial, and Blake is my partner for it" Yang replies.

The woman who was referred to as Nora runs up to Stone and in her excited tone says "Ooh your new, where are you from, how'd you get here, if you're a faunus why do you have three trait instead of one, what's your favorite flavor of ice cream" she said as she quickly moved around him, Stone having trouble keeping up with her.

"Nora please give the man some space, you literally just met him" The man who was called Lin Ren said while dragging Nora away by her shirt collar.

It was at this moment that Stone noticed that Nora was holding something, a chess piece, a White Rook looked like it. And he then saw that Yang was holding a piece too, a White Knight, and that there were more pieces in the ruin that was behind the group.

Stone walks towards the small group,"I assume those chess pieces are the artifacts y'all were sent here to retrieve?" he said.

"Yes, they are, we're supposed to pick one then return to where we started." Replied Yang, showing the Knight in her hand.

Stone takes a moment to inspect the piece, and afterwards walks towards Ruby, saying "So we should choose a piece and get back to where y'all started?"

"Right, our primary mission is to grab one of the artifacts and make it back to the cliff where we started." She says, walking over to the chess pieces and picking up a White Knight, identical to the one Yang holds.

Phyrra nods in response and walks to the pieces, grabbing a White Rook.

"Wait, cliff? Did y'all have to climb down a cliff into this forest?" Stone questions.

"Oh no, of course not" replies Ruby, Stone breathes a sigh of relief, "We were flung into the forest from the top." Ruby says matter of factly.

"... WAIT, WHAT?!" Stone says, surprised at her nonchalant tone.

X

The walk back to the cliff began without incident, Jaune, Phyrra, Nora, and Ren left first, leaving for the Cliff.

Ruby, Weiss, and Stone left with Yang and Blake shortly afterwards, beginning the trek back. But shortly before the group of five leaves for the cliffs, Stone looks to the sky in the distance and sees what looks like a large black bird in the distance, unaware of the presence of the two groups.

"Not touching that one," he says.

"Soooo, Stone" Yang chimed, breaking the silence, "I've been wondering, how did you end up with Weiss and my Sister?"

"I fell out of the sky, landed hard in this forest, and they were the first people to find me, that guy, what was his name? Ozpin told them to complete their trial and bring me back with them, for what reason, I don't know" Stone said.

Just then, a rustling can be heard up ahead, the ladies ready their weapons in melee mode, and Stone draws his claymore ready to strike.

Suddenly and seemingly from out of nowhere, an Ursai comes charging from the brush, rearing up and roaring.

The four women prepare themselves for battle, ready to strike down the Grimm, when from behind them, a bolt of lightning streaks towards the Grimm, striking it in the chest and stunning it and causing it to roar in pain. Stone surges from behind them, using his wings to grant himself a burst of breakneck speed, charging at the Ursai using its stunned state to attack, and in one strike of his sword, takes the Grimm's clean head off, landing a few feet behind the now headless Grimm.

The four huntresses-in-training were in awe of what they just saw, primarily of the bolt of lightning that seemingly came from nowhere and was focused enough to only hit the Ursai.

Stone turns around and sees the Ursai's body drop, and surprisingly it begins to disintegrate, stumbling back a few steps in surprise.

Stone looks at the strange sight, turns to the four ladies, and asks "They all do that?" with a twinge of confusion in his voice.

The four girls nod in unison, shocked at both his speed and the lightning that came out of nowhere.

"Noted, now I think we've got somewhere to be" Stone says, sheathing his weapon.

The group of 5 continue on their trek, eventually they come upon the place where they are meant to go. Looming high above them is a cliff of massive proportions, seemingly impossible to climb, with an extremely deep cavern in front, and sticking out of the cavern like a shipwreck in the ocean is another ruin, many bridges leading to a tower in the center.

"So we're supposed to get across this cavern and climb that thing?" Stone questioned Ruby.

"Yep" Ruby said, unfurling Crescent Rose into its Scythe form "We have to make our own way back up"

"Last one on top is a rotten egg!" Yang said, deploying her gauntlets, Ember Celica, into their shotgun mode and propelling herself upward with a blast.

The other three girls followed closely behind, Ruby with Crescent Rose's Scythe mode to climb up, Weiss using her Glyph Semblance to run up the side of the cliff, and Blake using Shadow to transport herself from ledge to ledge to get to the top. Once the four girls had reached the top, they were greeted by who they knew as Assistant Headmistress and Huntress Glynda Goodwitch and Headmaster of Beacon Academy Ozpin, as well as Jaune, Phyrra, Nora and Ren.

Ozpin approached Ruby, "Welcome back Ruby, I'm glad that you and your group have arrived back unharmed, but I only count four of you, where is the fifth?"

'Oh no, we were so caught up in getting to the top that we left him at the bottom of the cliff!" Ruby said with surprise.

The two were about to continue the dialogue, until a silhouette streaked up from the cliffside at insane speed and momentarily stopped, hanging in the air above where they stood. It was Stone, wings unfurled and out showing his full wingspan of 16 feet, light reflecting a brilliant silvery hue off his wings and tail.

Stone came in for a hard and fast landing, his shoes skidding on the dirt as he slowly lost momentum and came to a stop.

"Yang you cheat, that wasn't fair, I didn't know this was a race." Stone said in a sarcastic tone.

"Aah, there is the missing person" Ozpin says as he walks toward Stone, eying him up and seeing that his Aura had already fully developed after only being here for about an hour, "With a flair for the dramatic it seems."

"You must be the one I saw on those devices they had, Ozpin was it?" Stone says, Ozpin giving a nod in return "Well it's nice to meet you Ozpin, I'm Stone." Stone says, extending his hand to shake Ozpins.

"Likewise" Ozpin says returning the shake, "Now that introductions are out of the way, I'd like to have a chat with you and your group you returned with, come to the top floor of Beacon Tower in 30 minutes, we have much to discuss." looking at Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang.

Ozpin dismisses the two groups, and they both make their way back to Beacon, Ozpin and Glynda were still needed here, other students had yet to complete the challenge, if they were even able to find their way through the forest at all.

"Wonder what he wants to speak with us about?" Yang says, curiosity in her voice.

"I guess we'll find out in 30 minutes." Ruby replies

Ok, so it appears that Remnant has a new arrival, and this visitor's presence has changed a few things that happened in RWBY. I will explain this planeswalkers powers and the fact that he appears to be able to use magic in the coming chapters, as well as I will go a bit into depth about his home plane. Also, since everything on Remnant with a soul has an aura and has the capability to have a semblance, I will be giving him both as well.

Once again I do not own RWBY or Magic the Gathering, nor do I own the Mahou Universe.

Thanks to Maglad for giving me some suggestions and critiques on how to improve this.
