Memorial
"I can't get a moment alone in this town." Damon scoffed as I came up behind him, I had to invite Kol into Klaus' house so I just left my things and Rudy with him until I got back.
"No, considering I have some pretty valuable information for you and you're the first one I came too." I started to sit down in the stool beside him but Damon put his hand out to stop me.
"That seats taken but share away." Damon replied, I rolled my eyes, grabbed the spare glass sitting in front of the stool and sat on the other side of him.
"What is this scotch?" I took a sip and grimaced, putting it back down on the counter."I heard something about a vampire Hunter coming into town to look into some sort of explosion?"
"Ah bald head, about yay high?" Damon said, holding his hand up. I had no idea what Connor looked like so I couldn't really agree or disagree."Guy just came in before you got here and asked for the Sheriff."
"That's probably him." I palmed my forehead and pulled out my phone, sending Kol a quick text to confirm."Was his name Connor?"
"Yes." Damon replied downing his drink, he grabbed the glass back from me and slid it to the other side of him.
"Can we discuss the explosion? The entire council got blown up?" I asked incredulously. I was literally gone for maybe two days."Did you do it?"
"No! Why does everybody think I did it." Damon asked, standing up from the bar."Well let's go kill him."
"You can't and not so loud." I hissed, grabbing his arm and pulling him back down."If you kill him, you'll have to deal with the hunter's curse."
"The hell is that?
"Horrible hallucinations that are endless and will drive you to suicide." I replied, Damon let out a hissing sound and winced.
"I can see how that would be problematic."
"Yes, just try and make sure nobody does anything to him. Kol & Klaus are gonna handle it." I replied getting up from the bar.
I drove over to my house, I needed to physically check in on my sister whom I haven't informed I came home early just yet.
I opened up the door and Bonnie was moping on the couch, I sat down beside her. She slowly sat up and pulled me into a hug.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, running my fingers through her hair. I had the luxury of having a distraction but Bonnie did not.
"I feel like she died all over again." Bonnie sobbed, I frowned seeing my sister in such anguish made me upset.
"I think it was a trick." I replied, it was a very complex trick but nonetheless. I doubt they'd hurt Gramm's she'd done nothing wrong.
"Yeah well, I tried to do a simple spell this morning and it brought it all back." Bonnie explained.
"You can't let them win, you did something they didn't like and that's how they act? I've been doing shit they didn't like since day one." I shrugged standing up from the couch and grabbing Bonnie's hands." Let's get you dressed, I'll call Jamie & Kol and we can go on a double date."
"I'm really not in the mood." Bonnie replied, I guided her up the steps and sat her down in front of my vanity.
"Too bad, we're going out." I smiled pulling out my phone, I texted Jamie first and then texted Kol. "I'm gonna fix your hair, and pick you out an outfit it'll be fine."
"You wanna go on a double date and there's a funeral going on right now?" Bonnie asked shocked, I don't think she realized the council would've been after us next so I could care less about them dying." That's very on brand for you."
"Girl, you've got one more time to sneak diss me." I scoffed, plugging in my flat iron and taking out a brush."I'll burn this shit right out."
"Sorry." Bonnie mumbled, there was a light knock at the door. I pointed at Bonnie but she shrugged. I ran down the steps and threw the door open, surprised to see Stefan standing on the other side.
"Stefan what brings you here?" I asked leaning in the doorway. Bonnie came bouncing down the steps she stopped behind me just as curious.
"Stefan?"
"Bonnie & Alicia." Stefan smiled politely." I didn't realize you were back already."
"Yeah shit hit the fan but what brings you here?" I asked Stefan wasn't really a drop by just to hang out kind of guy especially with us.
"Yeah, what is it?" Bonnie asked, Stefan held his hand out and dumped some bullets into Bonnie's hand. I didn't need to look at them to know who they belonged to.
"Where'd you get those from?" I asked as Bonnie held one of the bullets up so I could get a look at it. It was definitely a freaky bullet, it was long and made out of wood with some sort of weird carving on it.
"Somebody shot Tyler earlier, him & Caroline came over my house and I had to dig them out." Stefan explained, I felt my knuckles clench as I frowned. Connor was moving fast."These burn to touch them, probably soaked in vervain but this writing have you ever seen before?"
"No." Bonnie said, dropping a bullet into my hand, I took a closer look at it but it didn't look familiar to me either."It's not magical writing if that's what you're asking."
"New vampire Hunter in town along with the new baby vampire what could possibly go wrong." I grinned Elena definitely would be the one to fuck this up. I didn't see it being possible for anybody else to."I'm gonna pass this along to Kol. You look like you're about to go to the funeral."
"You two aren't going?"
"Nope, hot double date. Fuck the council." I grinned Stefan chuckled and started to walk down the steps.
"Point taken."
"Be careful." Bonnie replied.
"And keep an eye on Elena." I added, Stefan waved and disappeared. I closed the front door and we headed back upstairs.
Jamie thankfully hadn't gone all the way back home to North Carolina he was instead staying at a hotel in Richmond.
And Kol happily agreed to go out with us.
So I did Bonnie's hair really pretty and put her in an amazing outfit. Before doing the same to myself, I drove us over to Klaus' and left Bonnie in the car. As a witch she wouldn't be on Connor's list so she's safe. I opened the front door and walked inside.
"Honey I'm home and I've bought gifts." I called out, Klaus & Kol appeared in front of me. I held the bullet out so they could both see it before plopping it into Klaus' hand."I think you know what that is, and you can take care of it."
"You two are just gonna leave instead of dealing with this?" Klaus asked, outraged.
"Fuck yeah, you're the expert." I looped arms with Kol while Klaus stared between the two of us skeptically."I'll have him back in a few hours."
"Alicia." Klaus started but Kol & I were already out the door. I jumped into the drivers seat while Kol slid into the backseat. I drove out the driveway and away from Mystic Falls happily.
"So where exactly are we going?" Bonnie asked, leaning on the center console.
"Nothing crazy just getting food." I smiled at her innocently."We can get to know each other."
"By each other you mean Kol." Bonnie deducted scratching the back of her neck." I'm not sure that's the best idea."
"And why is that, Darling?"
"He's one of them, Lee." Bonnie said, I shot her a look hoping she didn't upset Kol in this very tight enclosed space."He's one of them, it's their fault everybody died."
"No, technically Kol hasn't done anything to anybody except Matt and Damon. Which is pretty good compared to the rest of his siblings." I replied starting to count off on my fingers."Klaus did all the actual slaughtering,Rebekah killed Elena, and Elijah led Klaus here but that was with our consent."
"You're right." Bonnie sighed and turned around in her seat she held her hand out to Kol and forced a smile."Truce?"
"Truce."
"All I need in this life of sin is my sister and my vampire." I sang. If Bonnie & Kol can grow to have at least an understanding of each other then I'd be set.
We picked up Jamie from his hotel and headed to a nearby Dave & Busters ( I hate this place with every part of my inner being). It was loud and I hoped the sounds and flashing lights didn't overwhelm Kol.
"Are you okay?" I leaned over and whispered, Kol looked down at me and shrugged.
"I've been through worse."
I frowned knowing he definitely has, being one thousand years old definitely has shortcomings. It was a very welcome distraction for Bonnie, she looked the complete opposite than how she looked when I came home.
She was no longer distressed and had a large smile plastered on her face. I watched as she beat Kol in the basketball game and did a victory dance, he rolled his eyes at her but winked at me.
I'm confident this short double date was enough to put them on track to be friends. Jamie and I were sitting at the table watching the two.
"They seem to be hitting it off." Jamie commented, taking a sip of his drink. I popped a fry in my mouth and nodded.
"I'm happy she gave him a chance, he genuinely loves witches. He wouldn't do anything to hurt either of us." I replied as the two walked over to a two player shooting game and started playing.
"Should we be jealous? They kinda left us here."
"Nah, he's only interested in me." I shrugged, finishing the last of my drink."But if you are, let's go."
"Come on."
Jamie & I joined in, my spontaneous idea turned out to be the best one I'd ever had. I got a text from Elena about releasing lanterns to help us move forward and to bring Bonnie.
I gathered the three of them up and packed them into the car like children. We dropped Jamie off first and headed back to Mystic Falls, I dropped Kol off at his house after promising to be right back after we did this thing.
Bonnie & I end up behind the school, everyone else is already there waiting for us. Stefan unpacks the lanterns and passes them out, Bonnie & I opted to just share one since we'd be mourning the same person.
"So you're lighting lanterns?" Damon asked disgustedly, I definitely agreed with him but at the same time I knew we needed to do something. Dark humor could only comfort people for so long.
"Yeah, yeah we need to do this." Stefan replied, Damon crossed his arms and scoffed.
"What we need to do is find out who the Hunter is and what he knows about the death of the council. We have more important things to do." Damon replied I found myself nodding along with him.
"Not tonight." Stefan decided to light his lantern."This is for my uncle Zach & Alaric."
"This is for Vicki." Matt says next, lighting his lantern, Caroline got up and took the lighter from him.
"This is for my Dad and Tyler's."
She passed the lighter to Jeremy next and I frowned knowing he'd have the more extensive list compared to the rest of us.
"This is for our parents, for Vicki, Anna, Jenna & Alaric."
He passed the lighter to Bonnie meaning it's our turn, I stared at the lantern as Bonnie lit it.
"This for our Gramm's." Bonnie said.
"This is for John."
Bonnie turned and held the lighter up to Elena, she stared at Stefan for a moment before taking it and lighting her lantern.
"This is for my mom, my dad and Jenna. Everyone that we've all lost; everyone that this town has lost. And for me I guess."
I looked around and noticed Damon was no longer with us. I felt for the guy he too was grieving so many people and he didn't feel like he could be open enough to grieve with us.
On the count of three we all released our lanterns into the air. It did feel like a slight weight was lifted from my shoulders when we did it.
Bonnie decided to hang out with Caroline so I drove back to Kol. I still haven't picked Rudy up so I kinda needed to do that before Klaus snapped and killed him.
I walked right inside the house and Kol was on me before I even was able to close the front door. He smashed his lips against mine and closed the front door. I felt my back hit something soft as Kol lightly bit into my neck.
He pulled back and bit into his wrist and we happily drank from each other. I was thankful the vervain passed from my system, this was slowly turning into my favorite part.
"Oh don't mind me." Klaus cleared his throat, Kol leaned up with an annoyed look on his face. I didn't bother sitting up. I just turned my head to look at Klaus. I still had Kol's wrist pressed against my lips.
"I mind." Kol replied, I let go of his arm and Kol helped me sit up. I smoothed out my hair and crossed my arms.
"Did you need something?"
"Just to inform you I've brought a few of my Hybrids back in town to protect Tyler." Klaus explained swishing his glass around.
"Is Tiana back?" I asked. I curious if the young girl got to go back to her family when Klaus had them all leave town.
"No, a novice hunter wouldn't even have to bat an eye to kill her. She's safe, don't worry." Klaus replied, I nodded the rare moments when Klaus showed a bit of humility always amazed me.
"Thanks." I smiled, Klaus nodded and left the room.
"I'd appreciate it if you took it upstairs and not on the sofa. It was rather expensive." Klaus called behind him. I snorted as the two of us stood up, I finally noticed something was definitely missing here.
"Where is Rebekah?"
"She moved out, she's still in town." Kol waved it off, I nodded. I hadn't spoken to Rebekah since she dropped me off the other day, granted she did help save Elena. She still was the one who put her in that situation.
"Okay. I'll talk to her tomorrow." I replied, I heard a faint bark and followed the sound of it. I ignored Kol who scoffed behind me.
"The dog's fine, I've compelled him the best dog sitter in the state."
"I'd like to see for myself." I waved him off, I pushed open a door and Rudy was laying on the floor getting his stomach rubbed by a random girl. He looked like he was freshly groomed, and very happy.
I slowly closed it back before Rudy noticed and ran away from the girl. I turned back to Kol and grinned, I wondered if he was this sweet with all girls.
"What's the face about, love?"
"Nothing, you're just really nice. For you to be the second most deadly of your siblings I don't see it." I replied, crossing my arms. Kol looked taken aback.
"We can change that if you have a problem with it."
"No no, I'm good." I threw my hands up in surrender."Show me my room."
Wordlessly Kol turned and walked off, I followed closely behind him. The house was beautiful and I couldn't help but wonder exactly what Klaus would've done with my room.
And could I just steal the furniture and bring it home. Unsurprisingly my room was beside Kol's; it even had an adjoining door. It was pretty simple but I knew everything in here was miles softer than what I had at home.
I tossed the closet open and nearly died, it was filled with clothes that I knew for a fact Rebekah picked out. They were all too perfect.
"This is nice." I commented, I hoped Klaus was smart enough that he positioned his room on the other side of the house and had silencing spells on every room.
"I like how close it is to my room." He commented, closing the door behind him. I hummed in agreement and turned around to face him. I wasn't surprised when he was directly in front of me.
We picked up right back where we left off moments before, this time Klaus didn't interrupt us and I was very much glad he didn't.
