Chapter 4:
A Day on the Town
The months went by fast for Team RWBYS, and the Vytal festival was approaching, but now they had finally gotten some free time and they decided they would spend the day in the CIty of Vale, and this was a day that two students in particular had been waiting for. Today was the day Stone and Ruby would finally make a new weapon for him, as they had been planning and designing in the past months, and kept getting delayed by school. The group caught a Bullhead into the city and began their trip to the mall, apparently there was a store there that sold weapon parts. As they walk through the streets they see people setting up decorations for the upcoming festival.
"Aah the Vytal Festival, oh this is wonderful!" Weiss says, raising her arms in amazement at all the decorations.
"I don't ever think I've ever seen you smile this much Weiss, it's kinda weirding me out." Ruby says, earning a frown from Weiss.
"How could you not smile? A festival dedicated to the cultures of the world! There will be dances, parades, a tournament, oh the amount of planning and organization that goes into this event is just breathtaking!" Weiss says, as the team begins passing by the docks.
"Wow, you really know how to take a good thing and make it boring," Yang says, crossing her arms.
"Quiet you!" Weiss says.
"Huh, seems the cities here on Remnant aren't all that different from the ones back on Earth." Stone says as they walk, looking around at the buildings and shops on the streets with decorations hanging from the buildings and across the streets overhead.
"Remnant probably has far fewer cities than where you're from, we only have four main cities that the four Kingdoms are based around, Vale, Vacuo, Atlas, and Mistral." Yang says, putting her hands behind her head and smiling.
"Only four? The Grimm must be a huge threat if Remnant only has four major cities, cause I could name 10 cities on Earth, and that's just off the top of my head." Stone says back.
"Yang, aren't you forgetting Menagerie? It's not as big as the other cities but it's still large." Blake says, her black bow twitching a bit.
"Oh, I remember that one, isn't that the land the Faunus were given to create their own society?" Stone says, tail swaying behind him as he asks.
Blake nods but the group stops as they see a dust shop, burned out, with a symbol of a red beast with three red stripes behind it, police tape in front of the scene of the crime with detectives combing over it looking for clues.
"Hmph, another White Fang attack." Weiss says, crossing her arms "What an awful bunch of degenerates!"
"What's your problem?" Blake asks
"My problem? I just don't care for the criminally insane." Weiss says with disgust in her voice.
"The White Fang is hardly a bunch of psychopaths, they're just a group of misguided Faunus." Blake says, crossing her arms at Weiss.
"Misguided? They want to wipe Humanity off the face of the planet!" Weiss says angrily.
"So then they're very misguided, either way it doesn't explain why they would rob a dust shop in the middle of downtown Vale!" she yells at Weiss, her bow twitching a bit, to which Stone notices, raising his eyebrow a bit.
"Blake does have a point Weiss, besides, the police never caught that Torchwick guy I fought a few months ago, maybe it was him." Ruby says.
"That still doesn't change the fact that the White Fang are a bunch of scum. Those Faunus only know how to lie, cheat, and steal." Weiss says, gaining more anger from Blake.
The argument is cut short by the sounds of a struggle near them, the group turns to see an arriving ship, with the sailors clearly angry with something.
"Hey, stop that Faunus!" one of the sailors cries out. The team rushes over to see a Faunus with a gold monkey tail running the boat's length and leaping off onto a small dock.
"Thanks for the ride guys!" the Faunus says landing on the dock and jumping onto a post on a small wooden dock.
"You no good stowaway!" another sailor curses the Faunus.
"A no good stowaway would have been caught! I'm a great stowaway!" he says, eating a banana and then taking off into the streets of Vale
"Well, that was weird." Yang says, still a bit confused.
The team shrug this event off and decide to continue on their way, Blake shooting a few glares Weiss' way. Arriving at the mall, the group decides what they want to do.
"Alright team, Stone and I are going to the parts store, so we'll meet back here in an hour!" Ruby says enthusiastically, the team splits up, Blake going to the bookstore, Weiss going to the boutique, and Yang visiting a bar she frequents.
Entering the parts store, Ruby and Stone are greeted by racks and shelves filled to bursting with mechanical parts, electronics, and premade weapons, Ruby's eyes lighting up at the sight of all the parts.
"Ruby… don't get distracted now." Stone says, looking at her a bit sternly.
"I wasn't getting distracted," Ruby says, pouting a bit, as the two continue to the main register, attended by the clerk of the store, a female Deer Faunus with a small deer tail on her back, and a nametag reading "Annie" on her uniform.
"Hello and welcome, what can I help you find today?" Annie says, ignoring the apparent Faunus with three features.
"Hi, we're looking for parts to make a weapon that's a combination of a sword of that length," Ruby says pointing to the Claymore on Stone's back, "and a particular type of rifle." Ruby says, handing over a list of parts on a sheet of paper, Annie looking it over.
"Of course we have everything you need, I'll just need to see the diameter of the barrel you want so I can get the parts for you." Annie says.
"I've got the barrel type right here," Stone says, untying his pouch and pulling out a 2 foot long barrel from it, that could not possibly have fit in that small a bag.
Ignoring the strangeness of the situation, Annie examines the barrel and the rifling.
"I think I have just what you need, give me a few minutes and I'll be right back, feel free to browse while you wait." Annie says, heading into the back room to retrieve the parts from the list.
"I've been meaning to ask," Ruby said inquisitively, "What is that bag, how do you keep pulling things out of it that could not possibly fit in it?"
Stone takes the small bag off his belt and says "It's called a "Bag of Holding," it's a pretty common magical item where I'm from, it can hold up to 800 pounds of items not exceeding 64 cubic feet, all without changing weight, shape or size! It's a handy little tool." He says cheerfully, pulling out the rifle that she saw leaning on his bed frame. "Like my Lee Enfield here for example."
"So we could use it to transport all the things we buy here today?" Ruby says, a bit confused but not at all surprised at the bag.
"Yep!" Stone says.
The Deer Faunus then exits the backroom, with a cart full of bits and parts organized into boxes based on what type of part they are, wheeling it around the counter and presenting it to the pair.
"Here is everything you asked for, take a look and make sure I didn't miss anything." Annie says, heading back to the other side of the counter.
Ruby and Stone comb through the parks, leaving no stone unturned, and sure enough, everything was accounted for. Ruby goes to hand over the payment to Annie before Stone stops her.
"It's alright Ruby, I've got this one," he says, reaching into his Bag and pulling out enough Lien to pay for all the parts, Annie counts them all, smiles, and prints the receipt for the pair.
"Here you go, have a wonderful day!" Annie says, handing the receipt to Stone, as the pair walk out Annie says "And remember to bring back the cart when you unload it."
"We will!" Ruby says back, waving goodbye and smiling.
The two walk around the corner and into a small outcropping where nobody can see them, and then begin loading everything from the cart into the Bag of Holding, making sure to load everything neat and organized to make sure nothing gets lost.
"Well that's everything, I'll go take the cart back." Stone says, going to grab the cart handles, and wheeling it back into the store, thanks Annie for her help, and walks back to Ruby.
"Well that's that, is there anything else we need to get while we're here? Cause we've got about 30 minutes left before we're supposed to meet back up with the rest of the team." Stone says, tail flicking behind him.
"Nothing particular comes to mind, I guess we could just take a walk and look around." Ruby says.
The silver eyed girl and the silver scaled dragon begin to meander around the, doing a bit of window shopping as it were, browsing the storefronts and seeing if anything caught one of their eyes. While the two are walking, Ruby pipes up with a question
"By the way, I meant to ask, how did you get so much Lien?" She asks.
"I've been helping Professor Ozpin with a project he has planned and in return for my help, he's been paying me so I can have some walking around money. But since we've never been able to get into the city until now, I never had a reason to use it, and I've amassed a nice amount of Lien for myself." Stone replied.
Before the two knew it, it was time to return back to the entrance and regroup with the rest of the group. Walking back to the entrance to the mall the two see Weiss, Blake and Yang waiting for them, Weiss holding a bag with a new dress and Blake holding a book. The team walks out of the mall, walking for a bit, they see that Faunus from the boat is leaning on a building, as if he was waiting for them.
"Heya, you all must be Team RWBYS." The monkey tailed Faunus says.
"Yeah we are, who are you?" Ruby replies.
"I'm Sun, Sun Wukong, I'm a student from Shade Academy in Vacuo, I guess you could say I'm here to scope out the competition." He says smiling.
"Hey! There he is!" A police officer says in the distance.
"Wow, would you look at the time! Gotta go!" he says running away, winking at Blake as he goes, officers close behind him.
"Quick! We have to follow him!" Weiss says, beginning to run after Sun and the Police.
"Why?" Yang shouts at Weiss, Weiss stopping and turning around.
"To observe him, he wanted to scope us out, so we should do the same!" Weiss says, turning back around and continuing the chase, Yang, Ruby, and Stone running after her. Blake is a bit confused at why he winked at her, but snaps out of it and follows.
The team rounds a corner but Weiss accidentally runs into someone and trips, falling over. She looks up and sees Sun jump onto a building and disappear from sight.
No, he got away!" Weiss says disappointed.
"Uhh… Weiss" Yang says, pointing at the girl currently under Weiss.
Weiss finally looks down and sees the face of a girl with a wide smile on her face, orange curled hair, and a white and green dress with black boots with a green stripe. Weiss is startled by the sight and hastily gets to her feet.
"Salutations!" the girl says, still lying on the ground.
"Um… hello?" Ruby says.
"Are you… okay?" Yang says.
"I'm wonderful! Thank you for asking! The girl says. The team look at eachother confused at the girl just lying on the ground.
"Do you… wanna get up?" Yang says.
"... Yes!" she says, leaping to her feet, making the team step back a bit "My name is Penny, it's a pleasure to meet you!"
"Hi Penny, I'm Ruby." Ruby says.
"I'm, Weiss." Weiss says.
"Blake." Blake says.
"Are you sure you didn't hit your head?" Yang says, earning a punch from Blake, "Oh, I'm Yang."
"Names Stone." Stone says.
"It's a pleasure to meet you!" Penny says.
"You already said that." Weiss says.
"... So I did!" Penny responds
"Well sorry for running into you." Weiss says, as the team turns around and starts walking away.
"Take care friend!" Ruby says, waving at the strange girl.
"She was... weird." Yang says, after they've gotten a ways away and out of earshot.
"I think weird is an understatement." Stone replies to Yang.
"Now where did that Faunus riff raff get off to?" Weiss says.
"What did you call me?" Penny says, suddenly appearing in front of the team to Weiss' shock.
"Gah! How'd you do that?!" Stone asks, surprised.
"Oh, I'm really sorry, I didn't think you heard me." Yang says apologetically.
"No, not you," Penny says walking past Yang and up to Ruby, "You!"
"Me? I don't know, what, I, um, uh" Ruby says trailing off trying to remember.
"You called me 'friend'! Am I really your friend?!" Penny asks excitedly.
"Uuuuuuum…" Ruby looks at her teammates who, Yang, Weiss and Blake are making motions for her to say No while Stone just makes a confused face and shrugs, "Y-yeah, sure, why not."
"Sen-sational! We can paint our nails, try on clothes, and talk about cute boys!" Penny says.
"So this is what it was like when you met me?" Ruby says, looking at Weiss.
"No, she seems far more coordinated." Weiss replies
"So, what are you doing in Vale?" Yang asks.
"I'm here to fight in the tournament." Penny replies.
"Seems like a lot of people are here for that." Stone says.
"Wait, you're fighting in the tournament?" Weiss asks.
Penny salutes, "I'm combat ready!" she says.
"Forgive me, but you hardly look the part." Weiss says.
"Says the girl wearing a dress." Blake says to Weiss.
"It's a combat skirt." Weiss says, "Yeah!" Ruby says, quickly going to Weiss' side, giving her a low five. Stone rolls his eyes at this notion.
Weiss has a sudden realization, "Wait a minute. If you're here for the tournament, does that mean you know that monkey tailed… rapscallion?" she says, walking over to Penny and grabbing her shoulders.
"The who…?" Penny replies confused.
"That filthy Faunus from the boat!" Weiss says, holding up a crudely drawn picture of Sun.
"Why do you keep calling him that?" Blake asks, anger clear in her voice.
"Huh?" Weiss says, turning her attention to Blake, seeing her angrily walking to Weiss.
"Stop calling him a rapscallion, stop calling him a degenerate! He's a person!" Blake says getting in Weiss' face.
"Oh I'm sorry" Weiss says, letting Penny go, "Would you like me to stop referring to this trash can as a trash can, or this lamppost as a lamppost?" Weiss says, pointing at the objects in question.
"STOP IT!" Blake yells at Weiss, clenching her fist, her bow twitching even more violently, to which Stone narrows his eyes at.
"Stop what?! He clearly broke the law. Give him time; he'll probably join up with those other Faunus in the White Fang!" Weiss says, matching Blakes anger.
"You ignorant little brat!" Blake yells.
"How dare you talk to me that way! I am your teammate!" Weiss angrily tells Blake.
"You are a judgemental little girl!" Blake tells Weiss.
"What in the world makes you say that?!" Weiss says, astonished at Blake's fervor.
"The mere fact that you would sort that Faunus boy with a terrorist group solely based on his species makes you just as much of a scoundrel as you believe him to be!" Blake angrily says to Weiss.
Yang slides towards Ruby and Stone, looking quite a bit uncomfortable with the situation, "Um, I think we should go." She says.
"Where are we going?" Penny says, popping up behind the three.
"Aah! Stop doing that!" Stone says to the strange girl.

The argument between Blake and Weiss lasts almost the rest of the day, continuing all the way into the night. Yang, Ruby, and Stone observing, not taking sides in the argument to prevent an even worse scenario. The argument comes to a head when Weiss makes on inflammatory statement,
"You know why I despise the White Fang?! It's because they're a bunch of liars, thieves, and murderers!" Weiss says, angrily, tears beginning to well up in her eyes.
"Well maybe we were just tired of being pushed around!" Blake says.
Silence grips the room, Weiss backs away, shock and horror appear on Blake's face as she realizes what she just said.
"I..I…" Blake stammers before running out of the room.
"Blake, wait! Come back!" Ruby says, running after Blake, but noticing she has already disappeared from the hallway.
Weiss looks shocked, looking down. Yang sits down on her bed looking at Weiss disappointed.
"Good job Weiss, got any other pleasant things you'd like to say?" Stone says, frowning at her.
Blake runs out of the dormitory, arriving at the statue in one of the pavilions. Closing her eyes and slowly lifting her arms to her bow, pulling the string and releasing the bow, fluttering away. She sheds a tear, as the bow fully falls away revealing a pair of black cat ears. Before she can fully begin crying she is startled to hear a familiar voice coming from out of view.
"I knew you would look better without the bow."

Well, this chapter was pretty heavy emotion wise. Blake and Weiss had their infamous argument, and now Blake has run off. On the lighter side of things it looks like Stone and Ruby are going to start building his new weapon, so look forward to that.
