Chapter 6 So Cute!
Wendy's heart pounded as she sat on the side of the road. She hyperventilated, her eyes as wide as a gas giant. She had never been pulled over before by anyone, seeing how she wasn't often in the car. So naturally, she was worried about what might happen to her. She wouldn't...she wouldn't be sent to jail, would she? Oh dear developer, she was going to go to jail! She would have to spend the next ten years eating gross food, having to deal with horrible inmates, and, worst of all, having to wear those hideous orange jumpsuits. Blugh!
Wendy kept her hands gripped to the steering wheel. She couldn't move; it was almost as if she had gotten hit by a freeze ray. Cold sensations ran up and down her spine. Her hands and feet felt numb.
"Miss, you were going at a total of ninety miles an hour on a sixty mile road. Do you have anything to say for yourself?"
Wendy swallowed a massive lump in her throat. The officer sounded so stern as they scolded her. A tear began to build in her left eye and she bit her lip.
"Miss, hands off the wheel and look straight at me."
Wendy's heart skipped a beat. Oh dear developer, she was having flashbacks to the cop shows she had watched with Larry! Cops only asked for someone to take their hands off the wheel when they were going to get arrested! Wendy's hyperventilation grew stronger.
"Please….please don't arrest me!"
"Miss, I'm not going to arrest you." Despite that sentiment, Wendy's relief was pretty much nonexistent. "Please turn around."
Wendy gulped. This was a cop. As frightened as she was, she couldn't disobey a cop, otherwise she could get arrested. Letting out a breath, Wendy slowly took her hands off the wheel. She slowly turned toward the officer….
And blinked. She blinked once. Then she blinked twice. A third time. A fourth. Was...was this really happening? The officer…
WAS SO CUTE!
Not cute in an attractive, sexy way; that would be gross. No, the officer was just straight up adorable! They resembled a little gray rabbit; a gray rabbit who was wearing a police officer uniform. Their nose twitched, and their violet eyes glittered. Their ears were probably the cutest part, as they were long and silky. Wendy's breath caught in her throat just staring at the rabbit officer.
"Oh my goodness, you're an angel from cutie pie Heaven," Wendy squeed.
The officer raised an eyebrow. "Um...okay." She cleared her throat and took out a notepad. "Now, unless you have a good, legitimate reason why you were going as fast as you were….and honestly, I don't think such a reason exists….I'm afraid I have to give you a ticket." She took out a pen that resembled a carrot, causing Wendy to squee again.
"Aww, you even have a little carrot pen!" She smiled, reached out, and touched the top. "You just get cuter and cuter the more I learn about you!"
"Miss!" The officer said as she pulled her carrot pen away. "Please stop this nonsense! This is serious business; you do realize that you could have killed someone going as fast as you did?"
Wendy laughed, at this point completely smitten. "If anything, I would think that you would kill more people with your straight up adorableness!"
The rabbit officer sighed. She put her pen back in her pocket and glared at Wendy. "Miss, please. This is no laughing matter."
"Is this person giving you trouble, Judy?"
Wendy was taken aback by the sound of a male voice. She looked back at the police car and saw a red furred fox poking his head out of the passenger window. He stared at the rabbit officer, apparently called Judy, with a furrowed brow. Wendy just continued to swoon.
"Oh ho ho, you have a little fox companion! That is so sweet!"
Judy looked to be at a loss for words. She looked between Wendy and her fox friend. Finally, she let out a breath and stomped over to the car. She spoke just loud enough for Wendy to hear.
"Nick," she said to the fox, "they aren't cooperating!"
"Well, they are a speeder. I would personally be more surprised if they did cooperate."
"No, I mean they really aren't cooperating! They keep condescending me and telling me I'm cute! You know how other animals aren't allowed to call bunnies cute!"
The fox nodded his head. "Hmm." He put his hand to his chin. "Well then, tell them that they are disrespecting a police officer. That'll get them to shut up."
There was a moment before Judy nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, I can do that." With that, she pulled away from the window and went back over to Wendy. "Miss, I'm afraid that you are disrespecting an officer of the law. If you continue with this, I'll have no choice but to arrest you."
Despite her fears at being arrested before, Wendy just giggled. "Will you use a tiny pair of handcuffs? That'll be doubly cute."
Judy's ears dropped and her nose scrunched up. She cleared her throat. "That's it." She pulled out a pair of handcuffs. "I'm afraid I'm gonna have to bring you in."
Wendy's heart leapt into her throat. "Wait, what?"
"You have disrespected an officer of the law and have put civilians in danger because of your speeding. For that, I have no choice but to put you under arrest."
Wendy began hyperventilating again. "No! You can't do this!"
"Now we can add resisting arrest to that list. Miss, please don't make me get out my taser."
Wendy felt a pit form right in the center of her stomach. She lowered her head as Judy lifted her out of the car and strapped handcuffs around her wrists. As she led her to the police car, Wendy cursed under her breath.
"Darn you for being so cute, Judy."
