Chapter 11: Drizzle
Ororo woke up begrudgingly slow, stretching her limbs and loving the heat from the morning sun that shined through the trees. The scent of cypress mingling with the hefty scent of pine awoke her gently. She looked around noticing the same forestry surroundings since she had fallen asleep. But…she was higher now. Her body was cradled against the bark of the warm wood. Its thick branches held her up high off the ground comfortably. She sat up and looked back down to her ebony skin where she rubbed soothingly. Her hand hit her bag that rested against her hip. Her body turned to look up at the other side where she found no sign of the Western Lord. The sun was shining bright through the treetops accompanied with a clear blue sky. She sat up aware that they needed to return urgently to Lord Sesshomaru's palace to gain additional intel on the political situation. His borders needed to be checked to see what condition of the villages that sat along the edges where the trouble seemed to be moving about.
Whoever was performing the estranged spell could not have been very far seeing as certain villages were being targeted. Maybe there was a pattern or some connecting them all. And the spell in of itself was oddly familiar to her own Egyptian kind but different in execution. Could the spell being used be from her homeland? Ororo pushed her fingers through her long soft locs shaking her mind away from her wayward thinking. Surely, it would be impossible for anything from her lands to make it all the way here. She collected her thoughts and clutched her fist tightly. But the frustration was mounting daily. When she got her hands on whoever the warmonger was, she would make sure they would find no peace even in the afterlife.
The sound of a grunt disturbed her. She nearly gasped seeing a sight of a two headed beast beneath her against the base of the tree. His long body stretched and even from her distance she could see the powerful muscles in his neck and body roll with his movement. A saddle and bridle were attached to the scaly animal clearly showing ownership to someone. She recognized it as a dragon of some kind. She watched the heads turn up to look at her seemingly thoughtful with wide citrine slitted eyes. The beast neither moved nor gave any signs of threatening intentions. She looked down to grab her bag and placed it around her body. Carefully she stood up grasping onto a secure branch with firm grip. The bark felt rough underneath her harsh grasp and her feet moved to stand near the edge. She carefully moved forward and with the grace of feather, glided down towards the ground in front of the beast. She watched its eyes stare at her as she landed before him seemingly unimpressed.
Clearly the beast was here for her, but she questioned the purpose. She sensed nothing vile or troubling which piqued her curiosity. She walked forward and held out her hand cautiously for the animal to take in her scent and adjust to her company. She watched as the two heads sniffed her hands before shoving one of its heads against her palm and rubbing affectionately. Ororo smiled watching the other head push it out the way to receive similar attentions. She walked forward to greet the beast properly and rubbed its snout with one hand while her other hand rubbed the back of the head of the other. She looked at the saddle and bridle seeing that it was rather small seemingly meant for a little person. She moved to the side running her hands along the thick and carefully stitched leather clearly belonging to someone of wealth. She bent down inspecting the material until she saw the Western crescent insignia on the base of the saddle much like the ones found on the flags in front of Lord Sesshomaru's home. She stood up and smiled rubbing along their necks.
"He must have sent you to watch after me, I presume." She spoke watching the beast nod and enjoy her affection. She smiled and kissed the heads in thanks for their vigilance during that morning while she slept. The beast grunted before nudging her hand towards a direction. She looked forward to see the path that would take her back to the village. She looked down at herself and felt she was unclean. She grabbed her bag and looked inside for her bathing supplies. Maybe she could find a river and wash up quickly before finding the others who were probably up by now. Hopefully they weren't waiting for her especially after she left their hut the previous night.
"I'm in need of a bath. Do you know of a way new friend?" She asked rubbing an ear tenderly as it nodded and began walking towards the tree and around it. She followed, listening to its heavy footsteps beat across the forest floor. She spiked her aura in search of any foe that wished to attack them while her companion strolled alongside of her, directing their journey to the water source she desired. The trees began to thin and she could see the mountains in the distance from which they had come. Her blues eyes caught sight of a large clearing and a sound of rushing water. Her flesh tingled with excitement making her rub the goosebumps on her arms calmingly. She looked around seeing nothing in the clearing but what looked to be an abandoned well at a far distance. She eyed it questioningly but continued to walk pass the clearing towards the increasingly loud sound of water. The air felt a bit dense and her skin warmed. Walking over a few bushes and making her way through the trees, she found she was very pleased at what her friend had exposed. Cloudy mist arose settling gently around the area and she smiled in delight at seeing a small, heated oasis tucked so intricately in the green forest. She smiled at her fortune and anticipation surged inside of her.
"New friend, this is exceptional. Well done. I will find a way to reward you when we return." She spoke excitedly picking up the pace a bit. She walked forward and she sighed at the relaxing feel of steam perspiring against her flesh. She stopped at the edge of her journey and looked into the steaming hot waters. Very quickly she stepped away and began stripping her body of her clothes and shoes. She decided to use her old clothes as towels before very slowly she made her way into the water. Time was of the essence and so she knew she had to be quick about her washing. She went until her body was submerged before relaxing and quickly using her oils to wash away the dirt from her body and hair.
Her mind went over the conversation she shared with Lord Sesshomaru. She ran her slender fingers along her arms and coated her hands with oils to douse herself. Her brain reviewed the wide words of the priestess. Trust and honor bounced like playful river crickets in her mind and heart. How much of the two concepts she should expect of them and the Western Lord. And how much she should measure herself by. Regardless, her mind never strayed too far away from the conundrum that was the Lord. His reserved nature regarding his thoughts is what made her own mind tumble. His actions were always contradictory. He would help but the way he went about things was jarring. But he was noble in his actions but cold and severe. The resolute nature he had was like the strongest limestone she had ever seen. She could tell from the moment they met he wasn't one to jest about his will. She supposed she appreciated that little characteristic about him. From what she had gathered, once his mind was set on something, Sesshomaru wasn't so easily derailed.
Ororo lathered her body with oils and rubber her skin clean. Her motions became crossed between fitful and calming depending on the way her thoughts ran. Again, she couldn't shake the demon Lord from her thoughts and wondered if he was equally as vexed as she was. How could someone so beautiful be so…trying and mysterious. He offered knowledge and wisdom but was shrouded in mystery and danger. His looks brought her to thoughts of her dreams that he could turn into nightmares if she was proven wrong in her new stance to slowly trust in him. She caught herself lingering on the touch of his claws when he held her during their flight. The memory causing her to lose interest for a minute in anything else. A disturbing thought.
Ororo looked at the rocky bank to see the beast lay down in the pasture and rest its heads along the grassy area. It eyed her seemingly telling her to hurry up. Very quickly she dunked one last time before walking to the edge and climbing out. She dried her body off and dug into her bag to take out a new outfit. She found her beige skintight pants and a cotton tunic. With haste she quickly threw on her clothes and traveling sandals. She began to dry out her hair and wrap it up into a high bun on her head tightly as before. Droplets of water fell against the nape of her neck. Ororo walked towards the dragon patting the back of her head to dry it of water. Seeing her tidy up and complete her task, the beast stretched and stood ready to guide her back to the village. She walked alongside of it and thanked it properly with another rub across the snout.
The pair walked through the forest and back towards the village quickly this time. She smiled seeing the sun out and shining down among clear blue skies. A few villagers were already up attending to the tasks of the day and greeted each other warmly. She felt pleased that for the most part, everyone seemed to accept her here and didn't bat an eyelash at her apparent different appearance anymore nor did they find it strange that a dragon was causally walking through their village with her at its side. "This village must have seen a lot." She spoke as she bowed her head slightly out of respect to an older man they passed. Shockingly, a little boy ran up to the dragon with two apples in his hands. He stretched upwards towards the dragon in offering with a wide missing tooth smile. On his shoulders, was a wooden carrier of some kind clearly meant for picking crops. She paused in her walk and watched as the beast sniffed the morsel before diving its heads down to bite the fruits whole. Afterwards the dragon licked the boy's tiny hands kindly. The little boy's joyous laughter echoed about. He patted the dragon gently before moving to stand in front of her. She watched with a small smile as he bowed to her in politeness. She nodded back in kind and watched the boy race off towards the fields clearly happy with the goings of his morning.
"Well, aren't you popular." Ororo said with smile and laughed while the dragon hummed in agreement with her statement.
"Your majesty!" A voice rang out catching the attention of a few locals around them.
She stopped in her tracks to see up ahead the young teenager from the night prior. His body was dressed in his slayers uniform and his weapon sat heavily on his back shining brightly from obvious preparation for use. She met him halfway watching him point in the direction he had come. "Come with me. We have breakfast. And Rin is almost done packing for your return home today."
"Rin?" Ororo asked as the boy spun and began to walk back. She followed him back towards a smaller hut near the other end of the village. A few people stopped to whisper wondering what land she exactly ruled and had traveled from. She followed the young boy who slowed down apparently desiring to speak with her. She watched his eyes move to look and then his mouth would grow taut with restraint. "You wish to say something, young warrior?" Ororo slowed down in pace causing him to go slower in his walk to their destination. "Do not be weary of the topic with me, Warrior Kohaku." She addressed formally indicating his status and that his words would be taken with consideration.
Kohaku paused in his steps to look sideways at the tall foreign queen. After hearing her speak a bit and the information he gathered from his sister, he knew she was a powerful woman, but could she help them. It had kept him up all night. He even went on a few patrols just to be safe because he was unable to rest. "Can you really help us? Possession is dangerous and isn't so easy to overcome." His gaze became stressed from memories not too far gone. "These creatures…they don't move or behave like anything I have experienced or seen." He spoke whispering for her ears to hear only while eyeing a few villagers.
Her lips tightened in thought while she bent a little to keep their conversation from being heard. "You speak from a person that has experienced such a thing." She said catching him off guard. His head whipped upwards to look at her. His feet stopped moving on the dirt pathway. He didn't say anything wondering if she would elaborate. Could she read minds too? Kohaku shuddered at the thought. His mind had enough of protruding to last a lifetime. Ororo kept moving and motioned for him to follow. He walked again alongside of her moving steadily closer towards the meeting hut.
Ororo could tell this was a very touchy subject for the boy. Maybe his past experiences had left him shaken and was traumatically damaging. It wasn't hard to gather that he suffered from possession because of his serious tone and nature about the issue. The language he used and his bodily reaction to even just speaking about it. Spoke of past trauma that lived in his young body. She smiled kindly and provided his mind some comfort. "It would be best young warrior, that you use what knowledge you have of your experience to aid others. Do not give your fears power. And to answer your question, I am more than confident I can stop this foe. For he or she has already proven themselves a coward by going so low as to use a possession spell in the first place. This means that they lack power and need someone with it to accomplish their goals. It is a matter of finding this individual before they get what they desire. From my reign, I have found those that seek things they cannot have… are often destroyed by it in the long run too. So fear not, warrior. Have a strong heart about you. Have faith." She advised watching the young one nod and straightened his spine at her words of wisdom.
It brought pride to see him look forward and stand taller. She found men and young boys here easily gathered their strength after simply addressing their doubts unlike those in her country. It took a lot more than a statement of logic, courage, and honor to make people go to arms in Egypt. Battle was spiritual as well. Men did not die for the notion of right and wrong. Men went to battle for their beliefs and their Gods. They went for her for she was Egypt and Egypt was her. She admittedly loved the rush and feel of gathering the men to follow her into battle. The cold steel of a new blade in her hands. The rough fibers and cool metals of her chariot as she charged through with a loud battle cry. However, it was unnecessary and should be the last choice as many suffered afterwards. While Egypt was victorious, the mournful cries of those fallen would echo in the city. Ororo found she liked the battles of this new land. She had seen many fought in war rooms over debate in villages. A few would gather their shoguns and men to do battle, but most battles were fought using resources and words. She found it odd that the more she stayed here the more appreciative she was of even the smallest of actions and thoughts of both her people and the people of this new world. However, she still enjoyed and stood by her word…the Gods of Egypt's word being the final one in cosmic law. And blood would be spilt if the line was crossed.
They made it to the large hut structure with voices echoing from inside. With a final pat she separated from her draconic companion. His heads brushed against her hands and then he walked away to another grassy patch nearby. Kohaku walked forward to open the sliding door for her. They entered inside the room smelling of spices and cooked food. The sizzling of a pan in the back mingled with conversation gave the "meeting" hut more of a homey feel. The heat from the fire warmed the large space while the two women from earlier worked in tandem. There were more children now in the meeting space than before. They sat down quietly clearly having just woken up from their restful sleep. Two twin girls wrapped in blankets sat in the corner eating their porridge while their baby brother sat on several blankets playing with the young fox kit's bushy brown obsessed with its fluffy texture. She removed her shoes and greeted everyone watching Kagome's face light up followed by Sango. The older woman bowed her head in greeting as she placed cleaned fish on a rack. Kagome guided her to her seat at the small table and began placing out cups, plates, and chopsticks. Ororo saw everyone was hard at work preparing the morning meal and she began to stand. "Allow me to help make something for your troubles!" She offered watching Sango shoo her away. "Please, I can make something that will take very little time and effort. I can make ijee."
Kagome paused in placing a chopstick. "Ijee?"
Ororo nodded. "Yes, it is egg mixed with vegetables." She explained using her hands to help describe the dish and its preparation.
"Omelet!" Kagome spoke with excitement at possibly having something so rare in the feudal era. "What do you need?!" She asked standing at the ready to get the items. Ororo smiled and listed them watching Kagome look through the giant bag of groceries she brought with her. She pulled out items noted and some she thought would be similar in taste to the vegetables Ororo called out. Ororo looked at the items she pulled out in confusion. They didn't seem like what she needed except for color of the spices in some type of containers. The eggs they had placed in a bowl was a mix of brown and white eggs. She had never seen a white egg before. "I will go get more eggs." Kagome spoke leaving the hut and rushing out into the pathway back into the forest. Ororo looked at her confused wondering what chickens on earth she could find in the forest and taking a similar path that would lead towards the hot spring she bathed in earlier.
Ororo looked to her with a question in her eyes and Sango shrugged her shoulders. "Don't ask me where she's going." Sango flipped a rack of fish over the fire. She got up and handed Ororo the vegetables Kagome pulled out onto a plate.
Ororo looked to where the young priestess had run off to before dropping it. She moved closer to the table and placed her satchel down near a cushion. Sango handed her a knife and she began to prepare her vegetables quickly while Sango fetched a pan for her to use. Ororo saw a little bit of fat and oil dripping by the grilled fish on the racks. Ororo was handed the pan from Sango who resumed her duties by the fire while watching her children. Ororo dipped the pan down to catch some of the fat and oil it as it fell. After a few minutes of waiting for enough oil to coat the pan, she swirled the pot around and rested it flat on the fire.
Kagome came in breathing harshly from her quick run but holding up more strangely packed items. Ororo saw a small grey crate of some kind filled with brown eggs with a red mark on the top. She bent down to sniff them and inspect them slowly with her senses. They were brown and slightly bigger than what she was used to.
"These are strange sized eggs and what does this color on the top mean?" Ororo asked taking the crate of eggs skeptically.
Kagome sweat dropped but smiled brightly. "It means they have been inspected by a professional and are of good quality."
This pleased Ororo to hear and she thanked Kagome. She turned still eyeing the eggs and went to prepare the food. She was given a large bowl and everyone watched her mix all the ingredients together. Some were a bit strange to her but looked as if they had come from similar food items she was used to seeing in her homeland. Their carrots were very thick unlike anything she had seen. But the onion and the spinach looked familiar. She hummed and mixed the ingredients. "Had I known I would make this, I would have made cheese."
"You can make cheese?" Kagome asked in awe excitingly. "Maybe I should have grabbed some from my mom earlier." She thought, tapping her chin. "Wait, I think I brought some in there."
"Yes, every woman in my culture knows to make at least ten different types from the time of maturity. Also, it is custom in my land that young people learn to make breads, cured meat, catch shellfish, and know the making of beer from barley." She explained looking at the warm pan over the fire. She turned around to see Kagome hold out the bag for her to take. Ororo looked inside to see an odd clear bag filled with something yellow inside.
Ororo looked at it confusingly trying to figure out how to open it before Kagome slid her fingers across the top. The bag opened and Ororo blinked in wonder at the material. "This invention is convenient. Are you a blacksmith or artisan of some kind?" Ororo said in awe sniffing the yellow cheese inside. "Is this good? I've never seen cheese like this?" It was stripped into thin pieces instead of the giant mass she was so used to using. It looked like cheese, but the color was dark yellow with an orange hue. These was an odd sheen on the outside too. Very different from the creamy pale whites and browns she was used to. "It doesn't smell like cured cheese either?"
"That's Kagome's ninja food." Shippo explained protectively moving his tail from the wrath of Sango's baby. Kohaku laughed while enjoying the company of his niece's poking fun at the kit.
Ororo agreed with this finding nothing else to be of sufficient explanation as to the invention of such things. She graciously took the cheese sniffing again as she walked to the bowl. Her fingers dug inside, and she ate a piece to taste. Her eyes lit up finding it rather delicious and strong. She turned the whole bag upside down and dumped the shredded cheese inside. Mixing it well she walked over to the pot and poured the egg mixture into the pan listening to it sizzle and fry. Ororo waited patiently allowing it to cook in the pan without being touched. After a few minutes she used two chopsticks to flip it. Inuyasha, Miroku, and Kaede strolled in smelling the delicious aromas filling up the hut. A small breakfast feast was being prepared creating a bubbly atmosphere inside. The increasing sounds of chatter, laughter, and banter filled the room. Rin, Jaken, and Sesshomaru soon followed with the Inu Lord sitting close to the entrance humoring a small cup of tea. Soon, food and drink were being passed around, filling the bellies of all those inside. Rin even took a few treats outside for the dragon that Ororo had learned was named Ah-Un to enjoy.
"I hear you come from a long line of royalty." Miroku started as Kagome looked with interest at the brown skinned woman with a nod of her head. He placed his teacup and sighed heartily from the meal.
Ororo placed her chopsticks down and nodded. "Over several millennia, my family has ruled with a few gaps in between due to childbearing difficulties, early deaths, and of course civil war. But we have been rulers none the less." Ororo looked at Kagome attentively. "Priestess Kagome, you spoke of knowing my family. Which ones have you heard of?" She asked inquisitively.
Kagome blushed thinking quickly of what to say. "Well I'm not sure I can answer. All of your line is very famous. I'm aware of Cleopatra. She is known to be very beautiful and ruled Egypt solely during the Roman and the Greek invasion." Kagome spoke captivating everyone at her knowledge. A sweat dropped rolled along the back of her neck unsure of how much she should say. She didn't know if Ororo was from ancient Egypt or current Egypt. Hell, she didn't know what version of Egypt existed in this time. Her head was starting to hurt just thinking about the research she had to do later so she didn't say anything to mess up the timelines.
Ororo shook her head in dismay. "Cleopatra nearly destroyed our legacy by mingling with the Romans. She thrived on her looks, charms, and ability to appeal to the fantasies of the Roman Empire. While that got her quite a bit of ways, she didn't learn to leverage any other resources. Only the hearts of men. And above all she killed her own little brother for power despite what everyone thinks. Her little desires nearly cost Egypt everything!" Ororo waved with a flourish of her hands. "Now Rameses and Tutankhamun were great kings. Even my great grandmother Hatshepsut was a woman of virtue. Do you know of them?"
"The Boy King?" Kagome responded with excitement dusting off the middle school social studies she had resting in the back of her mind. "Wait! You are related to King Tut?" Kagome asked shortening his name and watching Ororo respond to it.
"No, but had I been born just a little bit earlier I would have been in line to marry him. It would have been a great privilege. Unfortunately, he died young hence his moniker which I see has stretched far. My family picked up the reign again having learned that harsh lesson about inbreeding and the wrath of Ra, Bast, and Anubis." She mumbled thinking of the lessons she suffered through from tutors and her grandfather. "My mother is Queen Neterkare and my father is the first son of the great demon pharaoh Amenhotep. My sister's name is Asa and she is expected to marry the son of a great king named Rameses IIIV soon to begin their reign due to my possible absence."
Kagome swallowed the last bit of her meal in awe of the woman before her. "Absence?"
"Should I not return before the heir is announced between my younger sister and her husband, than my reign is forfeit to my sister and her husband to ensure the family throne stays in the family and an heir is born. I have spoken to them before I left and I gave them my blessing. The day they give birth to their first child, I will know instantly that the power of the Sun God has passed into new life." She showed her arm and waved her hand over it revealing a tattoo that wasn't there before. A flail and crook crossed over on her wrist in colorful blue, gold, and black inks sat on her skin shining radiantly. "When this mark fades, I have been seceded of the throne of Egypt."
"But you can still return home, right? If they have a child and become rulers, you can still go home. Will there be a place for you when you return?" Shippo asked feeling a bit sorry for the queen. He didn't understand why she had to give up her role if she returned home.
Ororo smiled down at the kit and nodded. "I'm unsure of where my place would be…exactly if I return home and they have produced an heir. I know I will be cared for and protected as a royal member of the family, however, I won't have the title or position of authority. Also some may see me as a threat if I come back and have a child too. Technically, I would still be in line for the throne. But what are the odds of that? I supposed if they allow me, I could sit as an advisor. My power and position will pass to the new Pharoah. Since my sister has voiced her displeasure of being sole ruler, her husband may rule and make the decision about where I fit in the kingdom. But, as I said before I made peace with this and I'm ok with the prospect. Asa and Amenhotep will make fine rulers. Besides I'm sure my sister will not forsake me completely rather alive or in death. Asa has done enough and has even gone as far as to begin making additions to the Luxor Temple in my honor, creating a burial chamber, and a sanctuary alcove inside my grandmother's temple. I am very pleased, and my soul will not be lost in the afterlife." She expressed picking up her tea to drink.
Ororo went on to speak about the importance of her sisters' actions and finding peace, rest, and respect in the afterlife. Miroku sat still in awe at the similarities and difference in religion and concepts between the two countries. Of course, this was very real to the Queen. Miroku felt it must have been hard to think about not having a proper burial in a country not your own. He was a Buddhist monk, so he was able to see light in her beliefs despite the difference. Death and Life were both very important to her and her people. It was appropriate to continue to live a good meaningful life even in death. That he could agree with.
More questions were asked and Ororo did her best to answer each one feeling a great love for her country despite its tumultuous past. She explained as best as she could and pulled out items from her bag. She ended up giving away pieces of gold jewelry, gems, and coin out enjoying that she was finally able to share something about her country with people who appreciated her culture without judgement. Of course, there was a minor snag when Miroku's curiosity got the best of him and asked too many questions about the dressing of the female body. This of course earned him a punch and a deathly glare from the angered slayer who he tried to coax into possibly wearing such an ensemble for him. Miroku swore that he heard growls too from different sources, but he could have been mistaken.
Ororo thought it odd and funny that the monk and slayer's young twins rushed to touch her skin in awe wondering if she had been burnt by the sun for playing outside too much. Sango immediately tried to correct her children, but Ororo simply smiled and taught them about people and the various shades they come in. Ororo ate her fill and laughed watching as Inuyasha really enjoy her dish. His voice would perk up and offer commentary from time to time. His ears twirled on top of his head listening to all the sounds going about. Kagome sat next to him, enjoying his company, and listening to his questions. He sat comfortably amongst his pack while his brother sat at the far end silently next to the little girl who listened intensely with enthusiasm. She would ask questions and then reflect on them to the silent Lord at her side. Ororo would watch them and ponder on their behavior. Comfortable but distant. That's what she had labeled their relationship. The hostility from yesterday having vanished now that they were among the entire group in the hut. Maybe she was wrong about everything?
Ororo of course spoke highly about Kagome's ninja food after tasting the cheese finding it strong and added a nice touch. She figured that the cheese was left to pasteurize longer giving it the taste and color. But, she was sure no milk from any animal could give this color of the cheese. Maybe it was a spice that colored it so? She thought about Kagome disappearing in the woods. Maybe she was more powerful than the people spoke of. Maybe she performed magic in the privacy of the forest.
Ororo helped clean up before she was called upon to begin the journey back to Sesshomaru's home. Ororo walked along the village path afterwards very quickly to bless the land and perform a barrier spell. The others could feel the overwhelming combination of power drenching the soil. The auras from the futuristic priestess and the otherworldly queen sprung together surging through the soil. Ororo gave her goodbyes and final recommendations with promises of meeting soon and communicating often. Kagome's hug lingered a bit and the two shared a friendly glance catching the attention of those around them.
"If you need anything please write or come visit us." Kagome spoke handing her a few nonperishable goods for the journey including some snacks for Rin and salted cooked meat wrapped protectively.
Ororo nodded before reaching out to touch her hand in thanks. She took the bag and placed it inside her own. Ororo's hand came back out to rest gently on Kagome's palm. "If you need to send me a message, look for my beetles. Shakrash." She said holding her hand over Kagome's palm. Kagome could feel something ticklish move in her hand. Ororo revealed her palm to see a shiny jewled beetle with a green gem like shell on the back of its body move. Kagome gasped watching it disburse into green smoke. She shook her hands from the creepy feel making Ororo laugh a bit.
"Do not worry, they mean you no harm." She consoled with a gentle pat on Kagaome's palm. "Just say what you must convey, and it will fly to me to deliver the message." She spoke stepping away and waving at everyone else.
Inuyasha nodded his head at his brother with hands shoved into giant red sleeves. "We'll let you know if we see something." Kagome moved to his side and smiled brightly.
Sesshomaru nodded as well in acceptance. Both were new in understanding their recent foundation of sibling brotherhood. While a bit rocky, they both sensed an easiness of their disposition around each other that made being around the other bearable. Sesshomaru ushered Rin along before turning to begin the trek forward followed by the others. Soon they were moving steadily and further away from Inuyasha's village.
Rin came forward with Ah-Un and her acquired items attached to his side. Jaken waddled from the woods next to his Lord's feet pausing ever so often to look back at the women trailing behind them. Rin rubbed Ah-Un's head gently as they kept pace along the path. Rin slowed a bit to walk with the Ororo. She made it to her side with a slowed pace. Rin looked up curiously studying the foreign queen's facial expressions and looks. Rin admired her skin tone and colorful blue eyes reminding her of the blue coloring sticks Kagome brought her. Did she dye her eyes? Could she possibly change her own to be colorful like her Lord's or Lady Ororo? Rin leaned forward to get a better look at her catching the woman's attention.
"Yes little one?" Ororo asked smiling down at her. The sun reflecting off her hair and skin. The view from Rin's perspective made Ororo look like a real Goddess.
Rin blushed a bit. "You're very pretty." She simply stated bluntly.
Ororo smiled and touched the place over her heart. "Thank you little one. You are most beautiful as well."
Jaken scoffed in disbelief at the woman's words. Clearly she didn't know anything about beauty. If so maybe she should have saw Rin when they came upon her, toothless and dirty in the woods eeking of death. Rin had come a long way from the little girl with the gap of a missing tooth smiling and gawking at everything and smelling of soil and blood. He let out an audible snicker. "Lies."
A painful sound was heard, and the two girls looked up to see Lord Sesshomaru walking away from a wounded Jaken. A shoe print lodged in the Kappa's back robes indicated that he had previously been stepped on. They marched around him guiding Ah-Un's steps from squishing the little toad further into the ground.
"Master Jaken maybe you shouldn't walk so closely and sit on Ah-Un perhaps." Rin offered oblivious to the cause of his predicament. Rin instead managed to entwine her fingers into Ororo's hand and hold onto the warmth of her hold tightly. Soon their hands began to swing a bit in light of their unity as odd friends. Rin's heart burst from the joy of being reunited with her Inu Lord and going back to the castle that she called home. Living with humans was fun but enjoying demon company was more exciting. Especially, now that she possibly had a new friend to accompany her and do things Kagome did like braid her hair, play with her, and tell her stories.
The sound of hooves pounding against the earth became louder up ahead along with the roar of men. They stopped in their tracks to see the men coming towards them with crazed faces reminding her of the men that burned down that couple's home. They bared claws and weapons aimed at them while riding on the back of frightened horses while others ran at their sides howling along the dirt path. Upon closer inspection she found them to be demon in the clothes of humans.
"Do these men not recognize you?" Ororo asked curiously finding it shameful that the people of his land show no respect to their monarchy. Rin tightened her hold on Ororo's hand and her body moved closer to Sesshomaru's out of instinct.
Ororo looked to Sesshomaru watching him simply continue to walk forward, unperturbed. The demons did not seem to care at whom their weapons were raised at. Sesshomaru's aura flared in warning but it did little to deter them. She watched them get closer and she agreed this time to not interfere what was coming to them. She believed a lesson should be taught and morals should be upheld for all those alive to witness it. Especially with children and the vulnerable in their party.
Rin sighed and her tiny fist clutched onto Ororo's tunic. The older woman looked to Rin who seemed unaffected at the sure notion that blood was going to be spilt. Like a necessity almost. Rin still had the expression of a child. Curious yet cautious. Ororo bent down and picked up the small girl holding her in her arms securely. She placed Rin's head against her chest protectively while eyeing the men with disdain as they cat called and yelled in their poor attempt to frighten them with their weapons and threats. The men reached their group and circled around them jovially. Rin held onto her but glared at the men around them as they made their threats to the women and child. Their remarks about Lord Sesshomaru followed. Their good sense having failed them.
"Give us the woman and the child." One of them demanded daringly pointing out a rustic looking sword at Sesshomaru.
"Fools! How dare you speak to Lord Sesshomaru like that?!" Jaken yelled waving his staff and unleashing fire from his staff at them causing them to laugh and move about him.
"Close your eyes and cover your ears, Rin." Ororo commanded with a dark tone. Rin looked up watching her deep blue gems cast over into white ghostly pearls. The wind picked up around the area blowing leaves, trees, and picking up blades of grass. The men looked up as the sky began to turn grey above them quickly and thunder boomed loudly in their ears. Large foreboding clouds thundered and roared suddenly above them warning of what was to come. The hairs on the demons' arms and along the tops of their heads rose. The rumbling above in the skies spooked the horses causing them to frantically leap and fight the grip of their master's hands. A few horses managed to unhinge the riders from their backs onto the dirt path and race off into the distance out of danger.
Rin gasped at this and did as she was told, closing her eyes tightly. The rumbling in the sky causing her to shake slightly having never experienced something like this before. Her arms however moved up around Ororo's neck breathing in her light smell of honey and spiced oils. She looked to Sesshomaru, peeking through small lashed. He eyed their foes with deadly intent sparking in his golden eyes. Ororo nodded in approval of his actions. She held Rin to her and struck out her finger towards one of the demons. A streak of white searing electricity came from her hands and went straight into the chest of demon. He yelled in pain before falling off his horse to land hard on the floor. His horse gave a cry from shock before racing off. He twitched on the ground with his eyes rolled up into his head. Electric surges roamed over his body and smoke arose from his skin. After a few minutes he stopped twitching lying dead now in the middle of the road.
Green light and yells of pain filled the air as Ororo walked over to Ah-Un who calmly lowered so she could sit on his back. He arose once adjusted to her weight and he purred somewhat at Rin in comfort. Rin's tiny hands dug into her shirt tightly squishing her face until Ororo thought she would become one with the material. Ororo patted her back gently watching with contempt as all the demons lay in chunks about them from Sesshomaru's attack. Blood stained the dirt and limbs still twitched on some that lay now in silence with their faces contoured in pain and fear. She looked down at them in disdain feeling disgusted. Very quickly she used her electric powers to shock the parts off the path cleaning it for someone else to come through.
"You should build something along the paths to let those know of whose lands they are treading on. I'm now starting to think you are actually lenient in rule, Lord Sesshomaru." She jested as Ah-Un moved and began to fly. Ah-Un lowered his mouth to the back of Jaken's robe before lifting the small toad in the air. His flailing limbs and demand to be put down almost got him dropped. Sesshomaru nodded his head before taking to the sky as well. Ororo rubbed Rin's back soothingly as they got a little bit away from the grotesque scenery.
"You can open your eyes little one. All is fine." Ororo coaxed moving Rin away from her a bit so she could see the little girl's face.
Rin opened her eyes and looked around. The wind rushed through her hair and she smiled seeing nothing dangerous again around her; just fluffy clouds above her and the land moving slowly beneath her as she traveled up high. Rin turned her body to move into the comfort of Ororo's with a smile. "All is well now Jaken." She yelled for the imp to here as he yelled dangling from one of the mouths of Ah-Un.
Sesshomaru flew up ahead leading the way quietly. His hearing had gathered enough intel, and his mind had plenty to sort through during their travel back to the castle. His intentions were to leave yesterday but instinct drove him to stay in the village a bit longer and gather Rin and have her within reach. He trusted his brother's pack to keep Rin safe but the circumstances were different now. He briefly looked back to see Ororo scoot Rin up a bit so she could free Jaken and place him safely on the back of Ah-Un. However, he wailed and flailed his arms there too in protest at being handled by the woman like a small child. Ororo moved back into place ignoring him completely and choosing to run her fingers through Rin's short hair, mindful of her side ponytail.
Rin hummed to herself enjoying the activity and leaning into Ororo's hands. She liked having her hair finger combed. Her eyes fluttered shut and her body grew comfortable. They flew at a steady pace for the rest of the day making only one stop for Rin to relieve herself. Rin spoke of many things along the journey and asked many questions regarding Ororo's favorite flower which she discovered she had never seen before. Ororo called it an Egyptian blue lotus. Jaken would give his input which really either provided decent information or killed the light mood. Sesshomaru was quiet keeping to himself except to answer a few questions Rin had. During the ride, Rin had fallen asleep into a light nap and awoke resting and speaking once again; picking up right where she left off.
Ororo was getting anxious from sitting down and wished to stretch her legs. She thought of flying but she decided against it. After all, she was still learning about the Lord and the company he keeps. It was best not to reveal all of one's strengths and skills. Her mind wondered to the information gathered thus far. His walls spoke of betrayal. She could feel the toxic energy the moment she stepped into his halls. There was corruption lurking and attacking his borders. His lands however were safe and prosperous for the most part. He had vessels but from what she gathered; they did not know that problems existed or was very poor in solutions. While they were great at management, they weren't great at problem solving. She scoffed knowing that in her country these men would be stripped of their titles for being a waste of resources to the empire. Clearly, someone doesn't like the young Lord but is too frightened to wage war with him directly. Maybe someone from the inside is to blame too. She mulled this over as the sun sunk lower and lower into the sky.
The night passed and the day came again with a repeat of the same routine the following after. Their journey had been slower this time due to the additional members that joined the party as well as seeing to other villages for documentation and information gathering. Really it was Ororo and Rin that stepped foot in the villages with Sesshomaru and Jaken searching the surrounding areas. A few times they crossed paths with the shadow demons and bandits that wished to die early. One day, they stopped long enough for Ororo to make a quick meal along the riverbanks with Rin. Sesshomaru rested underneath the shade of a generous old tree protectively overseeing their task. Ororo heated the salty meat Kagome had given and prepared a few vegetables she packed as well. While Rin sat and ate, Ororo asked Sesshomaru about his thoughts on the situation. Of course, his unadorned answer involving only one syllable sounds was driving her mad. She wanted to know what was going on in his head. He was driving her crazy with not knowing.
It wasn't long before the days led them back to the Lord's home. The moon was high in the sky when they arrived, and Rin sighed many times in relief upon seeing the entrance. The sky was dark with clouds covering the stars and the normally radiant moon was nowhere in sight. Ororo took this as a sign of trouble. One she knew not to be taken lightly. They landed at the gates watching his soldiers prepare for his arrival. Ororo could feel Sesshomaru stretch his aura alerting everyone that he arrived and was in a bit of a foul mood. His General was there waiting patiently and looking unwavering in his stance. Immediately, the young General began to report small notes to the Lord and await council. Ororo got down off Ah-Un and collected Rin from off the saddle placing her down gently beside her. They strolled as a group inside the very large courtyard leading into the main gates of his domain. They walked as soldiers bowed to them that were on guard that night along with very few servants passing by. They strolled into the building where a servant stood waiting to take Rin upstairs, but Ororo's hand rested protectively on Rin's shoulders. Rin clutched onto her hand, clearly not wanting to separate from her just yet. Ororo did not trust anyone in the castle. She could feel the negative energy shifting in the walls and it greatly disturbed her. She would not allow young Rin to be in the presence of many and alone. For the Egyptian Empire was proof that this was a grave mistake that ended in slaughter of the youth.
Sesshomaru could see Ororo tense, and her eyes scanned the faces of everyone. His mood soured in remembrance that someone untrusting was about. Servants came and waited for his commands while preparing to retrieve their things. His critical gaze landed on Ororo's hand that rest protectively on Rin hugging her close to her legs while Rin held her hand as well. Could he trust her? His eyes watched how naturally protective she was of Rin and how Rin was so vulnerable to Ororo. Seeing as how nothing happened to Rin beforehand, he knew the answer. Ororo was most likely the safest choice in his home now next to his General. "I will take her to bed if you don't mind." She stated bluntly looking at Sesshomaru daring him to counter her claim. Both locked eyes seemingly having a private conversation that didn't go unnoticed by the General.
Sesshomaru looked to the protective hold that Ororo had on Rin. Her fingers were sprawled out against Rin's little chest. Rin's eyes looking curiously between Ororo and her Lord. He could sense, Rin's little aura pushing…attempting to search. A technique that the mikos of the villages seemed to have started to implant in his ward much to his relief. His senses were raging against the presence he could now detect in his home. He wondered if she could feel the danger and threat too. Its stench foul like dead fish left to rot outside in the sun. It's aura bristling against his flesh and the lie coated his tongue. It was more poignant which meant the person seeking to betray him, was distraught, careless, and triggered somehow. If this was the energy she spoke of earlier when she first told him someone in his home meant him harm. He determined that Ororo must know by show of her current behavior and desire to be at Rin's side. He simply nodded and spoke a few words to his staff while Jaken immediately rushed off somewhere.
Ororo didn't even hesitate before ushering Rin forward requesting that Rin lead the way to her room. Rin excitedly held onto her hand thinking of her great fortune at having Lady Ororo prepare her for bed. Rin excitedly whispered about the castle and assuring the queen that she would enjoy her time there. The halls were dark except for the ones that they took. Lanterns lit the hallways for their arrival. Flames flickered along the adorned walls guiding them upwards and into an area that was very grand. Guards stood protectively in front of the hall eyeing her wearily as she walked with little Rin. She imagined she was in the family's wing of the castle looking at all the hanging paintings, artwork, and beautiful statues of dogs which caused her to smirk. She wondered how they would feel if she placed a symbolic cat statue among them. Clearly, this place needed all the help it could get even from the hand of Bast. Finally, they came across a grand beautiful shoji door and Rin pulled it aside with the help of Ororo.
"This is my room. Isn't it beautiful? Lord Sesshomaru wanted Rin to have the best." Rin said twilling around the large room with a very fluffy white futon in the middle layered with vibrant colored pillows and silk blankets in yellows, pinks, and purples. Ororo took off her shoes and walked into the room nodding in approval of the amble space. The walls were lit with candles inside beautiful canisters. In the corner was a small writing desk with books stacks neatly beside it. One wall revealed a space for clothing and small little kimonos that looked new and dainty. Thick curtains hung along the window, drawn shut to prepare for resting. A few other things were placed around from a jar filled with new flowers to a case of water-colored paints. Ororo nodded in approval as Rin yawned.
"Rin you need to bathe and then go to bed, love." She spoke lowly rubbing her hair gently. Rin nodded and made to stand. She quickly grabbed Ororo's hand and pulled her towards a small door on the side. Rin slid open a door and revealed a small little washing area. A tub was filled with steaming water ready for Rin to use. They walked further in the room noting the buckets of water to be used for washing and toiletries set on the side with towels. "Help me, please?" Rin asked already beginning to take off her clothes. Ororo moved back out the room to set her bag down. Quickly she dug out a few things and hid her bag amongst Rin's things for safety. Her skin crawled and her spirit felt uneasy. She carried her oils to the bathroom and set them down. Rin was already naked sitting on the washing stool ready for washing. Ororo laughed at Rin's nonchalance for nudity and questioned if the girl was really Japanese or would be better off in Egypt. The little one seemed to be the only one that she had met that felt the same comfortability about her body as she did. But also, the young girl it seemed had the village women to thank for her easy-going nature.
Ororo took off her own clothes and began helping Rin wash herself. Rin of course talked about random matters while fighting off yawns and mewls of tiredness. Ororo made sure to clean underneath her nails and behind her ears getting every ounce of forest and dirt off of them both. Ororo scrubbed Rin's scalp before moving onto her own hair. Rin gasped in delight to see Ororo's hair hang down in its full length. Once they were full of suds, Ororo rinsed them both off with the warm water. The water ran down into a drainage system. Then they both shared a bath and Ororo used her lavender oil on Rin's skin and hair which Rin loved. Ororo took great pride in grooming and loved to help Rin relax and enjoy the evening properly instead of looking for a nice patch of dirt to lay on. Ororo got out of the oversized tub and grabbed a drying cloth. She wrapped herself before picking Rin out of the tub and drying her off soaking up the water from her dark hair. Ororo held Rin's hand and guided her to her bedroom. Ororo gathered their undergarments and placed them on. Ororo went to grab her sleeping yukata before Rin stopped her.
"Can I wear what you have?" Rin asked politely. "Your clothes feel very comfortable. May I try one?"
Ororo smiled and bent to kiss the top of her head. "But, of course Rin."
Ororo looked around and grabbed her bag. Her fingers dug inside while she looked inside, searching for spare clothing. Rin sat up straight on her futon to see Ororo pull out a thin white dress of some kind. It was made from the same fabric as her tunic. Ororo lifted Rin's arms and pulled the fabric over her head gently. Rin's tiny frame was too small for the cotton tunic that flowed around her like an oversized dress with a train. Small beading decorated the hem of the tunic. Rin's fingers touched the soft fabric gently loving the texture and the smoothness of the white material with gold embroidery in the thin layer. "Ohh." The gentle glee that came from Rin's mouth sung in the air. Ororo dug into the bag and pulled out her sleeping gown. The thin material fell over her body like a silk curtain as well. She pulled it down to cover her herself feeling calmer and relaxed.
"It suits you well Rin." Ororo said moving to finger comb Rin's hair again. Ororo loved the shine of Rin's lovely midnight blue strands reflecting the candle lightening in her room now filled with a flame's glow. Rin sat with nearly closed eyes enjoying the feeling again. Contentment filled her and she leaned into the gentle touch of the Queen behind her. When Ororo was finished, Rin opened her eyes to see the giant fluffy white mass hanging like a cloud behind Ororo.
Rin timidly reached out and touched her hair gently. Ororo turned around giving Rin access to her hair. A laxed laugh escaped her at hearing the soft wistful sigh escape Rin's lips from the joy she was receiving at simply touching her hair. Ororo smiled feeling Rin move and caress her hair as if she was touching a priceless relic.
"Your hair it's like flower petals." Rin whispered running her hands through it gently loving its thickness and color. "Or like the fluffiest of clouds and wool."
Ororo laughed out loud having not heard any of these descriptions for hair before. "My sister Asa said my hair feels like rough papyrus." She said as Rin looked confused wanting to know what that was and if it felt as good as her hair. Ororo looked at Rin's hand noticing callouses on the child and she frowned. She looked at her feet as well and shook her head. Rin watched Ororo dig into her bag and pulled out another oil vial. She opened the cork and leaned in for Rin to smell. Rin's face brightened greatly, and she let go of Ororo's hair to sit down in front of her. Ororo explained what it was and what it would do. She took her time and rubbed the floral lavender smell into Rin's hands just as thoroughly as she did with Sesshomaru's before in the cave. Soon, her hands found Rin's feet and she began massaging her little toes. Rin visibly relaxed sinking into the lap of the exotic woman growing quiet and drowsy. Both enjoyed their nightly routine clearly unaware of the audience they had standing in the door.
Sesshomaru had approached Rin's room wanting to make sure the little girl was in bed and accounted for as well as find Lady Ororo to provide instructions for her sleeping arrangements. Many things plagued him including her safety within his walls. A growl had left him in the halls at the thought that his ward would be in danger under his roof. But truth be told, she was safer walking amongst the night of the forest given the recent circumstances. The danger plaguing the borders of his lands was enough to call him to his office and making rest and solitude this night become unattainable. Putting him in a sour mood. Sesshomaru followed their scents along with that of lavender to Rin's room where the light of candles was burning brightly inside. He opened the door gently to see the two females in the middle of a grooming session, speak with smiles and relaxed postures. His eyes immediately were drawn to Lady Ororo noting her long lavish snowy hair that seemed to bloom once it was taken out of confinement. It looked thick and long with a cloud like appearance. Her nature defying hair hung in soft gentle waves down her back and laced through Rin's tiny fingers. He watched as Rin's tiny hands lifted the strands and marveled at its texture and weight.
Sesshomaru watched curiously as two bonded before his eyes while he slid the door wider and walked in. The way they carried on, no one would believe they had just met a little over a week ago. Ororo moved Rin into her lap and began twisting her own hair while telling her a story of some kind. Ororo quickly saw the great Inu Lord and smiled having her mood buoyed so late in the night. Ororo whispered things in Rin's ears making her laugh as Rin smiled and waved to him. Sesshomaru noted the white gown on both of their bodies that laced them in a different air of femininity. It hung on Rin's body and made her look like a petite pixie. Ororo filled out her dress a bit more and his eyes widened a bit seeing that it was almost sheer. He came further into the room, watching Ororo tuck Rin into the covers of her freshly prepared futon and kissed her head with a prayer on her lips. Ororo stood up to give the two alone time and he watched her glide over to the door and exit with her bag in hand.
Ororo stood outside her room waiting for the pair to finish. She ran her fingers through her long hair loving the sensation of being cleaned, oiled, and indoors. She thanked the heavens for her blessings while looking about and taking note of possible routes for intrusions. She wondered why the guards were placed so far at the ends away from Rin's doors. She thought it made sense to move them closer if they were to be of any help to anyone. She quite frankly did not like this. None of it sat right with her. This had nothing to do with culture or royal customs.
Sesshomaru came out of his wards room after blowing out the candles to see a rather strange yet erotic site. Ororo stood leaning against the wall in a white dress with thin straps holding it up over her shoulder. The top of her dress curved daringly over the swell of her breasts and clung to them revealing their supple size as she wore no bindings like the women here. It lay tight across her body revealing curves and dips along her glowing soft skin. Her legs and stomach could be seen through the thin material. Her hair was shiny amongst the soft light of the candles. The candlelight glowing along her body through the sheer material was scandalous and the desire to strip her bare or cover her up in the thickest multilayered kimono he could find, warred inside of him. The scent of lavender lay across her skin with a slight sweet scent resting underneath it. She stood looking ever so much like a temptress, but her disposition and tense shoulders spoke differently. Even her eyes glowed white while her hands were clasped tightly together. Her lips moved and soft words were spoken underneath her breath in a language he only heard her use a few times. He closed the shoji door behind him to watch her reveal her palm to him slowly and placed her palms along the walls.
He watched small beetles with gold, red, and green shells on their backs crawl from underneath and move to the top of the shoji doors. They disbursed in various directions out of sight along the walls and halls of his home. One rested inside the wood of Rin's door and sat looking as if it was an architectural design. It's back glow a bright yellow before blending into the wood entirely. He looked to her face watching her eyes return to blue sapphire gems. Her mouth went into a straight line and her eyes cut into his. "Should someone come to harm her, they will suffer from my wrath and a very painful death." She muttered in all seriousness.
Sesshomaru looked to the door again, not sensing anything that showcased her display of power. Something he noticed very dangerous about the woman. Her attacks were ominous and seemed to disguise itself under the guise of nature's doing; making anyone who didn't know about her techniques none-the-wiser. He witnessed himself some of the things she could do and he knew there was more she had hidden. A very intelligent move to make for anyone especially a ruler. He looked down the hall changing his plans. He originally prepared a room in the guest wing meant for visiting Lords and Ladies, but he found her fierce protectiveness to resonate somewhere lodged inside him. He could smell her strong will and devoted nature to young Rin and it pleased him to see his pack so well-tended to. He found he would be able to work in peace tonight knowing that he wouldn't have to slaughter the household and start a new in the morning because of paranoia. His fingers flexed in comfort at the idea he was growing more and more favorable of.
Sesshomaru walked forward, down the hall and she followed behind him quickly. He led her to a space next door and opened the shoji doors. The spacious room belonging to pack was dark. Everything sat neatly tucked away from lack of use in lacquered compartments and closets. The tatami mat left a strong scent in the room from lack of ventilation. The room hadn't been prepared but there was a fresh folded futon, stacked blankets, and the like inside for Ororo to use. Ororo followed on his heels noted the rather large size of her new sleeping quarters that seemed even bigger than Rin's. There was one window along the wall but that was all that was giving some light into the room. They both went further into the dark area. "This will be your room during your stay." He spoke stretching his aura and calling for servants.
He watched her for moment as the darkness in the room shrouded her body from view again. The spell of her eroticism lingered with the pheromones laced within her scent. How daring she was to simply exist in her entire femininity unlike any other he had met. The scent of honey, rain, lavender, and something spiced linger when she trailed around him. It began to cloud his mind. She turned her looked to him in the darkness. Blue oceans in contrast with the night. The gentle lighting from the night outside shined through leaving only her feet aglow. Her muscles tensed. Her gown moved with her and clung to her like the stars to the night. His mind began to wonder traitorously. His flesh reminding him of his current youth as an Apex predator and red-blooded male. The discipline he carved in decades of training was tested. However, the stench of betrayal flooded his halls. A cold reminder as to the nature of what was needed that far outpaced his bodily wants with the female in front of him. A note he would shove to the far darkest corner of his mind later. With the help from a royal .
Ororo could feel his destructive temperament as his anger rolled off him in waves onto her flesh. It was odd. It came and then when he was in the hallway, it vanished. But now, his anger returned. What was he thinking? The prowling nature of his demonic beast she could tell lay underneath the surface. She would be a liar if she said she didn't feel nervous from the raw feel of his youkai. He seemed to be fine when he came into Rin's room earlier. She looked to his body taking notes and reading the very small details that he was so adamant about covering up. His armor and clothing from earlier still sat on his form. The demon king had no time to rest or maybe he didn't feel peace. Ororo frowned at this. He was home. He should be relaxed. This was no way for a ruler to go about. His glowing golden eyes were the same color when turned to face her. His visage stood strong, unmoving, and the same as she had seen him over the last few days. But now his eyes seemed more hardened and searching like a predator hunting for something. His aura moved in waves with a deadly intent. If she was anyone else, she would have been nervous. Or if she was a betrayer… she would think twice this night. Ororo's eyes grew wide with understanding.
Sesshomaru's clawed fingers flickered once alongside of him; something she had learned he would do before killing. From his behavior, she knew something happened during the time that her and the little one was preparing for bed. Without further thought, she reached out to him. She caught his arm before he pulled her up towards his face leaving only an inch of room between them. His claws were rough against her skin and he held on tightly avoiding her intoxicating touch. He tugged again until she was completely rested upon him with her hand held tightly in his grasp and the other resting tightly on the strap of her bag before moving to rest gently on his chest. They were breaths away from their lips touching. The soft fabric of her dress touched along his body as she stood tall against him. He could feel lightly her chest rising and falling against him while she made no struggle to exit his hold. Her body felt warm through the fabric and the softness of her thighs pressed against him.
"You found something." Her words came out into a soft whisper. Round eyes stared into amber pools, searchingly. She heard servants rushing down the hall to attend to them. He loosened his hold on her, feeling her body slightly glide down his torso onto her own two feet securely. Her own aura began to build, and an electric spark danced in the air among them. She dug into her bag with one hand without deviating from his intense gaze. She pulled out her deadly weapon and held it up next to their faces. His eyes stared into hers uncaring of the threat of the sharp weapon. His own anger reflected clearly into blue eyes, and this was enough to reassure him that the death he was about to cause would be justified. Regardless of if it was or wasn't justified…blood would be spilt this night.
"Show me…and let's kill them." She stated strongly as he let her go and walked out of the room with her right behind him.
