Trying To Understand
Finn POV
Rory graduated from Yale this morning and I couldn't be prouder. She also ended her relationship with Logan. Things hadn't been good with them for a while. He'd been cheating on her and she'd been cheating on him with me. Colin and I tried to tell him that he needed to tell Rory but he was convinced that when he came home from London that everything would go back to normal for them. What he nor Colin didn't know was that Rory and I had fallen in love. Rory had been planning to end things with Logan when he came home but she'd never been able to find the right moment. Then at her graduation party that her grandparents' hosted he'd decided to propose to her. She been humiliated.
I was sitting in my apartment waiting for Rory to get back from her graduation dinner with her family when my phone rang. Logan. I answered.
"Hey man." I said.
"So you fell in love with Rory?" He asked me.
I laid my head against the back of the couch. Of course he would call to complain. Poor Logan. "Yes Logan I did." I said.
"Why didn't you tell me when I came home. I feel betrayed by the both of you." Logan said.
"Logan, your acting like we planned for it to happen. You don't understand what she was like when you went to London. She was a mess. It took me, Colin and Paris checking in on her to make sure that she was eating. Finally, she had enough of looking at the apartment that she moved in with Paris. Even then we still had to check in on her. When Colin moved to Boston it was just me and Paris. Eventually, I got tired of seeing her depressed so I'd go drag her out of the apartment once a week. Somewhere along the way of spending time with each other, we fell in love." I said. "We didn't do this to hurt you."
"I guess I'm just trying to understand." Logan said.
"What are you trying to understand?" I asked confused.
"I guess I'm trying to understand where everything went wrong." Logan said.
I sighed. "You can't blame yourself for this. It was nobody's fault, it just happened." I said. "Rory still cares about you, Logan."
"I know. She said that. It doesn't hurt any less." He said.
"I know I'm sorry." I said. I looked up and saw the front door open. Rory walked in and gently closed the door. "Maybe in time the two of you can go back to being friends." I said.
"Yeah maybe. Just don't hurt her the way I did." He said.
I smiled at her. "I don't plan on it." I said before he hung up.
Rory sat beside me on the couch. I leaned over and kissed her. "How was your day?" I asked.
"Perfect now." She said.
