But now Riku's best friend had vanished before his very eyes, and for the first time in her life, Aqua truly knew what it was to hate. Revised and expanded.

When Sora makes a different decision during the confrontation with Vanitas in Monstropolis, Xion is returned to the other guardians of light, while Vanitas completes the seekers of darkness with Ven. Alongside Xion, and with time running out to bring Roxas and the other guardians home, Sora continues his journey, unaware of even darker dangers lurking in the recesses of shade.

When Ephemer heard what should have been Ven talk to Mickey, without confirming he was Vanitas, he'd known why, and where, the Master of Masters had faded, and why so many hearts were lost. Now, as Yozora's residence in Baldr's heart at last gave new gleam to the Kye-Blade in Xehanort's nightmares, Ephemer grasped for trust Sora would sever the spiral of animosity. Final revision.
