Celestia's Past

As a special treat, I have decided to post two chapters for you all. Enjoy! Luna recalls how Celestia met Volaris and how Firo and Aydia came to be.

Luna sat on the floor of the throne room, head hung as tears welled up in her blue eyes. Celestia should never have sworn her to keep her secret, her guilt over not telling Jade now seemed to fill her entire body and she inhaled a breath to try and calm herself down. She could recall how her sister met Volarias.

The sun shone brightly through the clouds down upon the large city of Canterlot and the royal castle. Ponies were out and about, chatting, going shopping or enjoying lunch with friends. Inside the castle, Celestia was seated upon her golden throne, listening to ponies speak about farmlands or new lands they could sell or own. The Sun Princess was bored, she'd just finished lunch and was stuck listening to ponies for two hours. It wasn't even fifteen minutes in and she was already bored! She had amazing patience, but today it seemed to go fast, leaving her bored.

She sighed softly as the farmer spoke about his lands, she glanced out the window and narrowed her magenta eyes as she saw something streaking through the blue sky, it looked like it was falling! Getting up, she spoke. "I'm sorry, my little pony, but I have to cut this meeting short. Please excuse me?" with those words, she stepped down from her throne and left the room, confused ponies watching their ruler leave. Celestia trotted down the hallways, swiftly making her way outside the castle, where she could see the object falling through the sky was getting closer and as she watched, the object crashed into the maze, kicking up dirt and dust.

Celestia unfurled her wings and took to the sky, flying in the direction the object had fallen, she hovered in the air above the crash sight and gasped. For it was not an object that lay on the ground, but a creature that resembled a human, with large black wings, one of which was bent at an angle, clearly broken from the impact. The human was a man with silver hair and he wore grey pants with a black shirt. He had pointed ears and many cuts and grazes littering his body. He had a serious wound to his left side which was pooling with blood.

Careful not to cause this strange male any more pain, she slowly and gently lifted him up with her magic, his unconscious body levitating in front of her. She turned and headed back to the castle with the strange man in tow, determined to save him from whatever had caused him to crash!

Celestia stayed with the man as the royal doctors tended to his wounds and his wing was set, placed in a splinter to keep the bone in the right angle and heal it at the same time. Two days after he crashed, he showed signs of waking. Celestia, who had been standing by his side since she found him, sat up in her chair as the man stirred in the bed, a soft groan was heard before his eyes slowly opened, revealing a bright green iris that shone like a rainforest green color. The man blinked. "Where am I?" he tired to look around, but was still sore and any movement he made caused his still healing body to protest against the movement. "You are in the Canterlot royal hospital. I brought you here after you crashed." he saw a white pony with the wings of a Pegasus and the horn of a Unicorn. "I'm Celestia, co-ruler of Equestria."

"Well, thank you for saving me, your highness." the man expressed his gratefulness at being saved by this angel. "My name is Volaris, I'm a demon, but I will not harm you, Princess."

"An honor to meet you, Volaris." Celestia said, nodding her head gently in respect. She was not afraid and although she did not know exactly what a demon was at this time, she would learn soon enough.

Celestia was sitting by the pond under the tree near the courtyard, having a break and enjoying the sunlight. She heard the footsteps and turned her head to see Volaris, his cuts and grazes healed and the wound healing well. His wing was still broken, but it was mending nicely. "Mind if I join, Celestia?" they went by first name bases now that they had begun to trust each other and consider one another somewhat friends. "Of course." she invited and he took a seat beside her. It might seem strange to see a demon and pony side by side, but they made it work for now.

Volaris looked up at the sky, seeing the clouds as they formed shapes. "You make such wonderful sunrise and sunsets." Celestia, not used to the comment by her new friend, looked over at him, shock written on her face. "Oh, thank you." it was quiet as the two enjoyed the silence to just sit and be in each other's company.

"So, how is your wing?"

"It's doing well, your doctor said they would remove the splint in a few days and I'll be able to fly once again." Volaris told her, excited at the prospect of being in the sky once more! He'd missed it, though he greatly enjoyed being around Celestia.

"Sister, where are you?" Celestia's ears twitched as Luna's voice was heard over the quiet of the pond and the Moon Princess soon appeared. "There you are. Hello Volaris." she greeted the demon with a nod of her head. "Princess Luna." Volaris dipped his head in respect to the Princess of the Night. "What is it, Luna?"

"The Council is looking for you, they wish to start your Royal Court." Luna reminded her sister. The Council of Canterlot were a group of ponies, two Earth, two Unicorn and two Pegasi. When Luna or Celestia weren't around, they would oversee the courts and meetings within the castle. Celestia sighed. "Very well." she rose to her feet as Volaris did the same and the two Alicorns and demon headed for the castle to begin the days long work!

Volaris wing was released from the splint a few days later and the doctors deemed his wing healed and the he could try flying again a few days afterwards to make sure the bone was healed and able to take his weight. He was overjoyed to be in the air again and Celestia joined him in the sky, the pair flying around each other with smiles on their faces as Luna watched from below, knowing fully well her sister was developing feelings for the man.

A few more weeks went by and the annual Royal Grand Galloping Gala was coming up, Ponies from everywhere were excited for the ball, talking about what they would wear and who they would take. In the castle, Celestia was in her bedroom, looking through the different gowns she owned, deciding what she should wear. "Hmm?"

"Trouble deciding, Celestia?" Luna asked, landing on the balcony and folding her wings as she stepped inside her older sister's room. Celestia sighed in defeat. "I can't think on what to wear, Luna."

"Trying to impress a certain someone?" Luna said, hiding a smirk. It was not often her older sister was trying to enjoy the simple things in life, like having a relationship with someone, like Volaris. Celestia turned to glare at Luna, but even she could not deny it, for she had fallen in love with Volaris over these past two months since he'd arrived. Luna chuckled softly, walking over to Celestia's closet, gently moving her sister to the side. "Let me have a look, Celestia." she began to look through the gowns, brows furrowed in concentration as she eyed each one before she found the perfect dress. "Here!" she took it out of the closet and showed it to her sister. The dress was a light gold color with swirling designs on the hem, the sleeves were long and fluffy. The hem of the dress had white satin on it. Celestia eyed the dress before she got a brilliant idea and she body shimmered with golden light, Luna frowned, just what was her sister up too?

She got her answer as the glow faded and Luna gasped, for standing before her was clearly Celestia, but she was a human with large white wings on her back that twitched and her hair was still the magic rainbow color, only it fell down her back in elegant waves. Celestia took the dress, altering it to fit her new form before she disappeared into her bathroom to change into the dress. Luna waited for her, sitting down on the bed and tapping her hooves together gently. When Celestia remerged, Luna's eyes widened. For the drees looked lovely on Celestia and she wore a pair of gold flats on her feet, her crown sitting atop her head and a necklace with a purple rhinestone in the middle around her neck. "Celestia, you look so beautiful." Luna gushed, this was surely going to impress Volaris! Celestia smiled shyly and the two sisters left the room, heading for the ballroom.

Many ponies alike gasped in shock upon seeing their ruler's new form, but Celestia assured them she would only be in this form for tonight and they all went back to what they were doing. Volaris, wearing a black tuxedo courtesy of the dress-making ponies that made him the new suit, stood by the beverage table, sipping some apple cider when his green eyes rested upon Celestia for the first time and his eyes widened at how gorgeous she looked, even in her new form. Putting the half drank cup down, he made his way through the crowd till he stopped in front of the Sun Princess. He couldn't find any words as to how beautiful she looked. "Celestia, you look so beautiful. I don't have the words." she chuckled softly. "Do you like it?" she twirled around for him, showing her new form. "It's gorgeous."

Bowing at the waist, Volaris offered her his hand and she took it with a smile, he led her to the dance floor, placing one hand on her waist and the other grasping her hand as she placed her free hand on his shoulder. Luna watched from the sidelines as the two danced around to the soft music, smiling widely. The pair of them looked so much in love despite the fact neither of them had told the other yet. She just hoped this worked out.

Celestia rested her cheek upon his shoulder as they waltzed around to the slow music. "Shall we take a breather and get some fresh air?" Volaris questioned gently, feeling a bit out of breath from the dancing. "I'd love to." Offering her his arm, she looped her arm through his and he led them outside into the cool air. The stars shone brightly from above as Celestia breathed in the fresh air. The pair were content to just gaze at the stars as a gentle breeze ruffled the trees.

"Celestia?" Volaris spoke gently, turning to face her as she did the same, confusion on her face as to what he would say. "These last couple of weeks since you rescued me, I have come to realize something."

"What is it?"

"I have come to realize that being your friend is truly wonderful, but something else has come to my attention that I need to tell you." gently, he lifted his hand, letting it rest upon Celestia's cheek as her magenta eyes widened. Was he about to say what she thought he would? "Princess Celestia of Equestria, I have come to care for you so much, but my heart has told me that it wishes to be more. What I am trying to say is that I love you, Princess Celestia."

She let out a soft gasp. He said it! He actually said it! He loved her! She in turn lifted her hand to let it rest on his cheek. "Volaris, I have come to love you so much, I was just afraid to tell you." she confessed, letting her head drop in shame. She should not be scared to announce when she loved him, it wasn't very proper of her. Her chin was lifted up and she was gazing into his green eyes that held so much love and warmth in them. "Do not be scared to tell me what your heart desires." he murmured, slowly leaning down and she met him halfway, the pair sharing their very first kiss as a newly romantic couple.

Inside, Luna spotted them from the window and couldn't help but let a massive grin cross her face! They finally did it! She was so happy for her sister and Volaris, so happy! Turning away to give them privacy, she continued to oversee the gala. A little later, Celestia and Volaris returned, hand in hand with looks of love in their eyes aimed at each other and Luna chuckled. This would be interesting!

Six months after confessing their love for one another, Celestia was seated at the dinning table, eating breakfast with Volaris to her left and Luna to her right. She now frequently shifted from her human form to pony form nowadays. Human when she was with Volaris and pony when she was doing her royal duties. Eating her stack of pancakes drizzled in honey with a cup of tea beside her, she snuck a glance to her love, smiling softly at him. He returned the smile, reaching over to grasp her hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze.

Celestia swallowed her mouthful of food when her stomach felt rather off, it churned and she feel the sudden urge to be sick. She covered her mouth to keep from being sick in front of her love and sister. Luckily, Luna saw the sign and conjured a bucket, levitating it over to her sister, who proceeded to throw up her breakfast into the bucket as Volaris held her hair back from her face, rubbing her back to comfort her as her stomach rebelled again and she threw up. Luna conjured a damp cloth and gently dabbed her sister's sweaty forehead.

Eventually Celestia stopped loosing her food and was now resting against Volaris as he cradled her to him, dabbing at her forehead as Luna vanished the bucket. "Sister, we need to get you checked by the doctor. You could have a stomach bug." Luna urged her, feeling worried for her older sister. Celestia nodded weakly and Volaris stood up, picking her up bridal style and leaving the room with Luna in tow. The pony and man walked to the hospital where a unicorn doctor greeted them. "My sister is unwell, she needs to be checked for a stomach bug as she threw up this morning." Luna informed the doctor, who motioned for Volaris and Luna to follow him to an examination room where Volaris careful placed his Princess down on the examination bed as the doctor closed the door.

"Now, tell me what has happened so far?" the doctor, he was a unicorn with a dark green coat and a blue mane and tail. His cutie-mark was a doctor's chart and his name was Doctor Hoof-Beat. "She threw up this morning while having breakfast and looked very tired." Luna recounted the events of this morning as Volaris stood by Celestia's side, holding her hand. "I see." Hoof-Beat wrote notes on his chart before approaching Celestia. The ponies now weren't as shocked by her human form and were quite used to seeing her in this form.

"If I may, Princess. I wish to examine you to make sure there is nothing wrong." she nodded her consent with a weak nod of her head, too tired to reply. Volaris kissed her forehead as the Doctor gently let his magic wash over the Princess, scanning her for anything that might link to why she was feeling so poorly. He finished with his examination, humming softly before writing something on his chart. "Well, Princess. You have nothing to fear from this. In fact, you should be overjoyed."

Luna frowned. "Overjoyed, why would she be happy?"

"Because her royal highness is with child."

Celestia's jaw dropped upon hearing the news, despite how weak she was feeling! She was pregnant! With Volaris child! She looked to him, seeing the same look of shock on his face. Luna looked like she might faint at any moment. Pregnant, her sister was pregnant! "How?" she managed to utter.

"Well..." Hoof-Beat began, but Volaris cut him off. "Don't answer that, please?" Luna nodded, trying to wrap her head around the news that she was to be an Aunt in nine months time.

Celestia glanced down at her flat belly, resting her hand over it. She was with child! She still couldn't believe it. Not in a million years did she ever think about children and right now she was to be a mother and Volaris a father! "You are about four weeks in, Princess." Hoof-Beat opened a cupboard and took out some bottles. "These are vitamins to help your baby grow strong. Take them every day." he handed the bottles to Luna, who gripped them in her magic grip. Celestia carefully sat up with Volaris help and he helped her off the bed and they left the room.

Celestia was on constant watch from Luna and Volaris as the months went by and her belly grew bigger as the child grew within. She stayed in human form to help her cope better and had constant support from Volaris. One morning, the pair were at the doctor's, today they would find out if they were having a girl or a boy. Celestia lay on the bed, the hem of her shirt, she wore shirts and skirts nowadays instead of dresses, lifted up to show her belly, which was huge despite only being three months pregnant. Hoof-Beat, their personal doctor entered the room with a smile. "Good morning, Princess, Volaris."

"Good morning, doctor." Celestia greeted with a smile. Hoof-Beat had been a massive help with her pregnancy since he told her she was expecting. He made sure she had the vitamins she needed and now they were having their first ultrasound to find out the gender of the baby. Hoof-Beat carefully lowered his horn to Celestia's stomach, glowing a soft blue color as he began the examination while Celestia and Volaris waited with battered breath to find out the gender of their baby. Hoof-Beat stopped the examination and smiled at the to-be-parents. "Congratulations, your highnesses. Your having twins, a boy and girl each."

Celestia gasped, tears of happiness falling from her eyes as she covered her mouth in shock. They were having twins! Volaris let a large smile cross his face before he kissed Celestia gently, overjoyed they were having one of each. "Thank you, doctor." he thanked as Celestia got up from the bed. Hoof-Beat smiled back as the royal couple let the room.

Celestia and Volaris stood in their room, hovering over two wooden cradles which held their little bundles of joy. Their new son and daughter, born just two days before hand. Their twins looked like their mother, but had the pointed ears and wings of their father. Their son was named Firo and their daughter was named Aydia. Aydia had a small tuft of purple hair while Firo had orange and red tuft, similar to fire. The twins had showed signs of their magic developing as Firo had control over fire, hence his name while Aydia had what Volaris could see was healing magic. Something demons rarely had.

Celestia rested her head on Volaris shoulder as the new-parents smiled down upon their children. Firo was the first-born, Aydia joining him only three minutes later. "They are so beautiful." Celestia murmured. "Yes, just as you are, my love." Volaris spoke, pressing a kiss to Celestia's forehead as they watched over the twins with contentment.

Unfortunately, their family would be torn apart sooner than they wanted!

Rumor's of a great evil villain named King Sombra, a unicorn who was dark as the night sky with a black mane and tail and vivid green eyes with red pupils who could control black crystals plotting something terrible reached the castle one day as Celestia and her family were sat in the dinning room, Celestia held Firo and was bottle feeding him as Volaris fed his infant daughter, the twins wrapped snuggly in their own blankets. Aydia's was a light purple with stars on it while Firo's was red with flame patterns on it. Luna ate beside her sister, smiling warmly at the sight. It truly amazed her how her sister was coping being a mother and a darn good one at that!

Suddenly, the sounds of panic could be heard and the royals rose to their feet as a guard burst in. "Your highnesses, Sombra has breached the castle walls!"

Celestia gasped, adjusting her son, who began to cry, sensing his mother's worry. "Shh, my son, shh." she soothed him, rubbing his back gently. She needed to go help her subjects, but she dreaded leaving her family! "Volaris, take the twins!" she carefully handed her lover Firo, who started to wail loudly as his mother transferred him to his father, who gripped both twins tightly in his arms. Celestia quickly changed forms to her pony form, decked out with golden armor and her spear as Luna changed into hers with her sword.

"Take the twins somewhere safe." she ordered Volaris, who shook his head. "No, I won't leave you!"

"There is no time, Volaris. Take them to safety!" Celestia argued, it wasn't up for debate whether to keep the twins around this type of danger. The twins were now wailing loudly, upset by the arguing of their parents. "You need to take them far away, outside Equestria."

Volaris continued to shake his head. "If I did that, I'll never see you again!" Celestia faced him with tears in her eyes. "That is the whole point!"

"What!?"

"You and the twins will only be in danger if you stay here. Leave Equestria and don't look back! Even if I'm dead!" Celestia snapped at him, her desire to protect her family stronger than ever. "Celestia, please...?" Volaris begged, tears beginning to run down his face as he desperately tried to reason with his love. Celestia gave him one final kiss. "I'm sorry, my love." lighting up her horn, she watched with tears in her eyes as she teleported her lover and twins from her sight for the final time! Luna watched, horrified! "Celestia?"

The Sun Princess wiped the tears from her eyes before she flew off to battle with Luna trailing behind her. Volaris reappeared in a dark forest way outside the borders of Equestria, his twins screaming loudly now! "Shh, my loves. Daddy's here!" he cooed, cradling both to his chest. He opened his wings to fly back when he hit an unknown barrier that prevented him from leaving. "NOOO!" his scream of pain and sadness echoed through the land, causing other demons who resided in the place to come and investigate.

That day had shattered both of them so deeply that Celestia had hidden the nursery with a powerful spell and warded it off from her room so she didn't have to be reminded constantly of the family she sent away.

Luna looked out a nearby window, watching the sun. "Oh, Jade. I hope you can forgive me for not telling you. I wanted to so badly, but Celestia made me swear to never say anything." Luna hoped that, when Jade returned to Canterlot, she might be able to hear Luna out and maybe learn to forgive the Moon Princess for keeping quite about the twins and Volaris

Done and ready to go.
